Moi Moi
This is Moira, a.w.o.l. Willow's owner.  I was following up a 'phone call about a lurcher/greyhound seen a few times at the Roydon end of the Pinnacles, near Harlow.  I stopped in at Bali Hai boarding kennels this afternoon to see if it's a "regular" known to people in the area.  A cream coloured lurcher, on the tall side, has turned up in their back garden for a couple of nights and they're going to put food out in the hope of trying to catch it.  However, they think it might be a boy not a girl.  It might be worth following up with them to see if they've managed to catch it in a few days' time.

Countrylovers, I am copying your message onto Jess's page so that your comments don't get missed. Copied from Found Dog 16257 Hi Guys, I'm sorry the more I think about this the more I think its 2 different dogs.  You see I was told by the council that they only use this one kennel as they dont have a dog warden for the area but after thinking about it the male dog they have was picked up in canvey and although I have lived in scotland for many years now my geography isnt that bad that I had fogotten that Canvey isnt near Rayleigh.  So I belive that the council mislead me you see they told me that they dont have a local warden and that they use this particular kennels to collect dogs.  Well with this little ray of hope I am praying that maybe this other dog that was seen in the park might be Jess you see it just sounded like Jess as when we used to take her out she always ran to the car afterwards to go home and Jess is also a very timid dog.  I built my hopes up today and then came back to earth with a bang, but I would like to ask that please if anyone in the area of the park and they see this dog please try calling Jess's name or shaking a bag of dog biscuits (her favourite treat).  Or if anyone knows of any other wardens/kennels in the area that may have picked her up please let me know i dont mind making loads of calls but at the moment I am at a loss of where to go next. thank youLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jess has been featured in the local paper - The Hertfordshire Mercury.  Lets hope this jogs someone's memory and we hear some news about what has happened to Jess.  I do not know how to do a link to the paper, but their website is www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hey Guys, Still no news on Jess but for everyone that is helping can I say a big thank you.  I have the exact location for anyone that may know the area better than ourselves.  She was taken from church street Little Berkhampstead (please excuse any spelling of place names as we are not from the area).  I have made my e-mail available to anyone wishing to contact us.  Thanks for everything....  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live quite close to Essendon.  Do you have any more detail as to where exactly she was stolen from?  Was it more towards Hatfield or towards Hertford?  There is a gypsy campsite nearby (which was recently visited by the police).  I have printed off some posters and will put them up in local vets, pet shops etc.  I am also doing a street collection for the DogsTrust in Welwyn Garden City on Saturday (about 5 miles away from Essendon), so will take some posters along with me.  Good luck with finding Jess.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry to see that Jess has been stolen. Is there any CCTV in the area of the shop that has/can be looked at? Willow (dog Id 15266) is a very similar looking lurcher who was stolen from Sawbridgeworth, Herts/Essex border. She was also stolen from outside a shop (on 27/09/08), and just like you her owner is not from the area. Although about 20miles from where Jess was taken, its near enough and right along the A414 to possibly be linked...you just never know. Jess and Willow are very similar in description, other than Jess being younger and probably a bit smaller.so I think you should link up with Willow’s owner incase any reports of found dogs/sightings. I will also put a post on Willow’s page re. Jess. We do have a CCTV image of the man who stole Willow - Herts Police have been investigating. If not already contacted, worth giving Wormley Boarding and Dog Training Centre a call as I know they kennel strays from the local area - 01992 451666. Also, ensure you contact neighbouring local councils as Jess could have been taken out of area. Good luck!

Hey guys, Thanks for the messages, just so you are aware it has been reported as a crime to the local police and their warden is aware.  I have also posted her on missing dogs a couple of other sites.  Thanks to others I have now telephone numbers etc to also call in the morning.  My niece who lives in the area will be also putting up posters.  I would just like to say thank you for your support and I hope to have Jess back where she belongs very soon.  Once again a big thank you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Greylady
So sorry to hear the news about Jess.  I volunteer for Greyhound Rescue West of England as well as Dog Lost and I have alerted our team in your area to keep their eyes open.  Please liaise with the local police and make sure this is reported as a CRIME not a LOSS.  Poster everywhere  and make her too hot to handle.  Link in with the Dog Wardens at an early stage and keep your ear to the ground.  poster pubs and supermarkets, anywhere which is heavily populated.  This will mean a lot of hard work for you.  Register on this site and you will receive a huge amount of help from volunteers on here.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
More details:   Further to our telephone conversation please find attached a picture of Jessica our Lurcher pup that was stolen from the Hertfordshire Area on 17/11/08 during the day.  We would be most grateful if you could put an advert on your site and the Countryman's Weekly.   My dog was last in the Hatfield/Essendon Area of Hertfordhsire. We only know that on the day she was taken my Niece had walked 4 miles from Essendon to a local shop where she popped in for 2 minutes and just walked outside to find my dog had been stolen a witness had spotted a Maroon Coloured Range Rover/4x4 type car screeching away from the scene.
My dog is very distinctive for a lurcher breed she is Greyhound/Whippet/Saluki cross and she has a very bright blonde/white colour with no dark markings at all. She is a 9 month old bitch with short smooth hair and has very distinctive ears when she is alert.   She is very timid when meeting new people but she is very bubbly and gets all excited when hearing children.
We were down for a family funeral and it was on this day that she was cruelly taken from us. This incident has left my Niece and our family heartbroken and we would be grateful for her safe return. Please call us Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
