Alexis- just to confirm again this dog is being very well cared for until legal owners are found. Would you confirm if you reported your find to the dog warden and local authorites when you found her as we need to confirm all reports maade and where done to avoid duplication.   JUST TO REMIND EVERYONE A stray dog must be reported to local authority even if you state you will llok after the dog until owners traced. For anyone to keep a stray dog without the knowledge of the local authority of the area in which it had been found is illegal, and the dog cannot EVER be legally theirs unless the correct procedures are followed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Alexis, my partner met with Paul today and I can assure you she is being very well looked after and is in very safe hands with Paul. She is very happy and laid back and getting on well with his own dogs.He will do his very best, along with all of us that are trying to help him, to find her lawful owner. On Monday once  I was alerted she had arrived at the vets I posted her as found on this site  and since then many people have been trying to find her owner. She was well cared for by the vets overnight and then collected by Paul  on Tuesday afternoon. There is an awful lot of work being put in to reunite this girl. `If not she will have  a good home to go to via  Husky rescue with owners experienced with the Husky breed. If you need to speak further you can call me on my mobile 07960968339 Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Angelita - re your post below. I know someone who breeds huskies and this person told me that buyers take them because they are so beautiful, especially so as pups, but they do not realise that they need an ENORMOUS amount of exercise and training as adults. They can run ALL day. They are not just your house dog. Perhaps this is why so many are being dumped. Appalling, I know. Perhaps some education is called for as far as Husky owning is concerned.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dont mean to sound harsh but could someone get in contact with me about how this dog is doing as I had been looking after her when she was found and once I took her to the vets to get her chip scanned they took her from me and the next thing I knew about her was when she was on Look North. I have been trying to ring Paul who has her but had no look as I miss her very much! ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a Female Siberian Husky listed as missing on the UK National Pet Register Site, Black with a Cream Face, Name Alaska, lost with the owners other 2 dogs back in April, she alone was not found, slight discrepency in the age, but must be worth a lookLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She is stunning! I cannot believe she was tied to a gate either but I suppose better that than just left to wander where she may have gotten killed! I really hope her owners show up! - AnnieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She was on husky club site who directed her here, she's beautiful, can't believe she was left tied to a pub gate. Crossposted to husky forums. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We now know from sources in NZ that who ever bought her into the country also bought in a secnd husky and a golden retreiver. To pay out the costs to get them here they must be much wanted pets. We think they could have come over about 2003/04 as that was last records at vets in Auckland NZ. Hope someone soon logs on here and stops this. TV coverage from BBC look north may have helped!!  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to update and both Jumanji and myself have been working behind the scenes- including relatives in NZ. We are being helped by aniaml exports at MAF in NZ and thorugh some searching by my sister we now have dogs name age and age appears to be 6.5. All contacts for this animal and a recent email address and no longer operational however we will not give up and working together we WILL track this owner. She is such a stunner ( picture coming soon) and someone must be missing her as she has been looked after well. Now working on another name that has been given so hope that may bring result. Dog is being cared for at a small animal rescue and although the 7 days are up on Monday she will be held on to. Hopefully TV coverage from BBC look north plus media coverage will bring a result.
