Dogbus
On the 25th July 2019 I received a Dogbus transport request form detailing the request for transport of 6 China dogs coming to the UK from Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport landing on the 4th August 2019 at 17:05 hours. The request was made by “Homes For China Dogs”.
The dogbus is a dedicated transport vehicle that transports “rescue” animals to safety for Rescue organisations/ charities. We are run 100% by volunteers and funded solely by donations from our supporters. We have transported hundreds of animals and are experienced in doing so with much success. This particular request was nothing unusual,we have Successfully done this type of transport request many times.

On the 4th August The dogbus arrived safely at CDG Paris airport. I waited at the gate for the dogs to arrive, after a 2 hour wait and many phone calls and messages I found out there was a problem. The flight volunteer had been stopped by French customs. Eventually the dogs in their sky kennels were pushed through the security doors and I proceeded to get these dogs out of the kennels and in need of a good walk around, drink and reassurance. After giving each dog time to stretch and enjoy freedom I then carefully put them on the dogbus to their separate onboard kennel making sure they had everything they needed. Approx 30 minutes after settling the dogs ready for their onwards journey home,A customs officer ran up to me and demanded the dogs were put back in their flight kennels and brought back into the customs security area. This was incredibly distressing for the dogs and myself. I did as I was told and reluctantly put the dogs back in their sky kennels and back inside to the customs area. This is where I met the flight volunteer for the first time. The customs officer told me the dogs would be going to Airport Quarantine kennels with no reason why. All this time I tried all means of contacting “Homes for China Dogs” and had no response.

The flight volunteer explained she had a connecting flight and needed to go. The dogs needed an “Owner” who has full custody and responsibility for them. I agreed to take full ownership of the 6 dogs. An official deceleration was made by the flight volunteer to transfer ownership of all 6 dogs into my ownership and care, passports were photocopied and the statement signed by both myself and flight volunteer and stamped by French customs. The flight volunteer then left. French customs said as they are not vets they wanted a Government vet to see the dogs and inspect their paperwork before they would clear them. I asked how long this would take they said that night. We therefore would miss our euro tunnel trip back to the UK so I arranged to leave the airport to park on the outskirts and wait for their call to collect the dogs that night. The airport car park charges over £25 an hour, I needed to move the van as it had already been there over 6 hours! I parked up and awaited their phone call. Again I tried all platforms to contact “Homes for China Dogs” with no response. Eventually I made contact at 7:29pm UK time and explained what had happened and what was going to been done. At no point did she say no or say she was getting a flight over to take ownership of the dogs and to deal with this huge problem. I later found out she was still on holiday. The paperwork was signed after 930pm.

I returned to the airport at 6am on 5th August. Still no updates or new information. I returned again at midday and again every hour after. Still no updates, explanation or progress report, absolutely nothing. At this time I had posted on our social media what was happening and everyone

I wish people would be honest from the start, people stayed up late last night desperately sharing for these dogs & it was extra concerning due to the nature of their rescue... I hope they safe safe wherever they are.. x

I understand from speaking to someone involved in the rescue of these dogs, that this is an ownership dispute.

I am not going to get into an argument with anyone regarding this, as it seems complicated & I think the police will do their job.

The rescue have the crime number & will liaise with the police to give their info on this matter
