I'm sure you've already done this, but make sure you have contacted ALL farmers who have land in the area backing on to the sightings so that they know she is missing and not a stray - some herd owners can be a bit quick to strike to protect their animals! :o(    I still have everything crossed for Belle's safe return and I'm sure it won't be too long now...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the posters Jan, although owners have done such a fantastic job, it's hard to find anywhere that isn't postered.  I have been walking around that area whenever  possible and will take my 'girls' there today.  Stay safe Belle.  I would have thought if she was in the area the cooking smells that waft out of the air conditioning from the Denbies restaurant kitchen would have been irresistible.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Genie's mum
I know the nights are colder but try camping out or sleeping in the car near sightings, strays seem to move during the evening and early morning, it is quiet at night and they feel safe. When we was looking for Genie we sighted a couple strays wandering about at night one we caught and one ran away, but it was when the action was. When Genie was found she was wandering out of her den and up onto the road, we think to pick up road kill as food, we found a couple of piles of pigeon feathers near her. We also tracked her paw prints in the mud near where she was last seen and also some poo that wasn't foxes. If you get any sightings take the callers number so if you think of any questions later you can phone back, get all details of last sighting exactly where and when and a description of the dog, we had some wierd descriptions. My husband would get so excited at a sighting that he would forget to ask the important questions, so I wrote on the phone pad a list of questions to be asked and number 1 was Name and number of caller. Trust the advice and information given by doglost it really works and try everything sugested if she is waiting for you to find her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from DogLost helper Patsy:
Following recent local sightings near Stepping Stones Pub and Boxhill,
have spent a couple of hours today hand-delivering posters to dog-
owners I know up Camilla Drive, Ashhurst Grange, Westhumble village.
Also put up more posters in the area and hand delivered poster to
Norbury Park ranger's cottage. Owner has done brilliant job postering.
Her local postman will hand-deliver lots of posters in the area
tomorrow. My friend in Mickleham has done a mass-email to all locals
asking them to keep a look-out when out walking. She's also emailed
local sheep-farmer in the area. It seems Belle has now crossed back
over the A24 towards home and could be anywhere in the Denbies
vineyard fields.
Keep safe Bella . . . Px

Surely a check round local vets should be able to confirm the story you've heard about a lurcher being taken to one of them ?  Assume you have notified all local vets. Maybe you need to spread out a bit further. It's a great shame local papers aren't more helpful, when you think the tripe most of them do print ! Hoping very much you will get some news soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Walked my dogs around Headley & Boxhill area today, saw loads of posters for Belle. Also posters for an American bull terrier (male) missing from Boxhill since yesterday (18th Aug) Just wondered if the two owners might want to talk to each other ? In case anybody out looking for Belle might spot him, his name is Diesel, contact number is 07825 338543.  I put poster at Station car park Oxshott on Saturday. Have Belles owners managed to get any coverage in local papers ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Patsy, local doglost helper:
This dog is still missing. Have spoken to owners, Mark and Claire.
There has been a possible sighting at about 1.00 pm on Wednesday 13
August at THE WHITE HILL NAT. TRUST CAR PARK, HEADLEY LANE, MICKLEHAM.
People in nearby cottage have been v. helpful and I have now advised
owners on scenting the area. Have also advised that this sighting may
not be reliable and that dog may have run off in other direction
towards Ranmore. Owners live in cottage on the Denbies vineyard
estate. Have advised that they get railway checked. Owners have done
brilliant job postering the area from Clandon to Epsom Downs and
Pebble Hill. Have advised them to put pile of posters in Rose's Stores
Mickleham, for locals and walkers to pick up. Also advised that Belle
will have gone quite feral after two weeks on the run and that people
should not try to catch her or call her  -  just make a note of where
she is and call owners immediately. I'll contact Nat. Trust and Surrey
Wildlife Trust wardens, stables, pet shops etc. Any local KT, RH, GU
helpers PLEASE PLEASE poster and make a note of owner's  number and
keep a look out when out walking in the area.  Owners are desperate
for her safe return.  Px

Murdoch - I'm around Dorking over the weekend - can you give any more info about where and what exactly happened - hard to look without a photo - any chance of you putting one on site?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can you provide a photo of Belle for the poster?   You can upload it onto the site or send by email to admin@doglost.co.uk with her name and postcode.   Then print off the poster and poster everywhere, especially near where she went missing.   The power of the poster has been proved, it just takes that one person to see her and get in touch.   Also contact dog warden and local rescue centres/kennels, visit in person to see if she's there, don't rely on phone calls.   Great that she's chipped, good luck with the search and stay safe, Belle xx
