Is this a story that perhaps a national paper would be interested in? National coverage would be superb - especially if he has been "taken-in" and not reported.... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have been looking over the weekend but not had any luck. I am waiting for some ink for the printer and will re poster Southgate when I get it. Am hoping to get out again looking this afternoon. Received the following e-mail from Jo's sister this morning: Hi Sharon, I have tried to register on this site to log some more information, but my email address (elizabethannehole76@yahoo.co.uk) and screen name Lizzy is already in use. There have been no more calls re Blue, except from a lovely lady called Rachel from Whetstone who has gone out of her way to look for Blue! Even at night with a torch in the park!! I think Blue may have been picked up by now and with someone at their home. Regards, Elizabeth Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry, havent been well so havent been out or checking internet. Had a text from Jo yesterday saying that she had arrived safely. Just phoned Elizabeth -Jo's sister - whose details Jo put on one of the last posts before she went to SA. Jo has left the simcard to number on posters with Elizabeth. The simcard is going to be put on a spare phone now and so the number on the posters is still correct. I am also going to send Elizabeth the link to this thread. Blue its time you showed yourself SharonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I understand Blue's owner is now abroad - does that mean the poster contact number is now out of date? Can someone let me know if it is OK to use the current posters, or update if necessary and I will print off some more later today. Many thanks. Maybe we now need to poster further afield to find poor Blue. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Southgate is actually a very green area. Lots of parks. Grovelands is very close to Chase Way, so that needs to be postered. There is Arnos, Oakwood, Trent (huge), Southgate cricket club, Beech. This dog is capable of travel and there are a lot of lovely hidey holes. As with Bazzie recently, I think this is a case for leafletting homes. Can we organise this? Is anything going to go into the Enfield newspapers? Independent, Advertiser, Gazette? They will love this sort of thing, very helpful when Sissy went missing last year. The Piccadilly line is a worry, but is largely bordered by gardens. Very well to do area hopefully means quality fencing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have posted Blues story on a sighthound Forum and the below reply has been left..........this lady used to live in the area and knows it well, but doesn't have access to DL so has asked me to post this................ 2 great parks in southgate - broomfield and grovenors (near the priory - might be worth someone calling them and advising as they have grounds he could easily hide in?). Used to live there makes me wish still did so could help look for the lovely fellow - be found safe soon - Has anyone contacted London Underground - unfortunately it is right where the picadilly line goes above gound - Arnos park is a big change over tube station. Trent park is about 5 miles away but lots of exposed fields very popular iwth students, joggers and dog walker - also they have a petting zoo maybe worth postering there also. Apologies f this has already been covered, but just passing the info on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm not closeby to you so can't do anything practical to help. However I have forwarded Blues details to as many of my sighthound contacts as I can think of (and that's a lot!) I work for a charity who re-homes sighthounds so when Blue is found I would be more than happy to help with kennelling/arrangements to get him to SA. Jo, I wish you all the luck in the world with getting your little man re-united with you, and good luck in your new life.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

thanks, i had a call from a lady today, she said that she heard a dog crying in the field behind her house, if you go down chase way before you get to the bottom of the road there is an alley way on your right hand side and if you walk down the alley there is a field on your right again, she said it sounded like a dog that was stuck on something she called the spca but they would not come out, i went and had a look and called for him but there was no movement and no noise the bush is thick there good hiding place also aswell as shelter.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone i would like to thank every single one of you from the bottom of my heart for helping me look for my precious baby. It sadens me greatly to leave him here not knowing where he is, for almost a whole year Blue gave me joy i had never known and he showed me unfailing love, coming home to only see his face when i walked in the door is what made my day better, watching him grow into the beautifull boy he is was a gift and an honor. Blue i am so proud to have you and i cant wait to have you by my side again watching you walk proudly the way you always used to. Guys without you i dont know what i would have done, I hope that each and everyone of you are blessed as you have blessed me with your support and courage to get through the most difficult time of my life. Jo, stop beating yourself up. Shit happens to all of us, and I only wish I didn't know that. Look up Bazzie. She was missing for 3 weeks in the snow and cold recently. An elderly dog, and she turned up eventually. Dogs are bloody resourceful when they need to be. We are looking out for Blue. And as for the lowlife that called you, well she can sod off and die. Nothing better to do than waste her credit on vile pranks? Loser. Blue is out there, keep looking. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jo called me earlier, she had a call from a woman who withheld her number and said to meet her as she had blue. jo turned up but no sign of the woman. Some people lead such sad existences they feel the need to bring misery to others. If the woman who called and played this cruel prank is reading this i would just like to say that the next time you feel compelled to bring yourself to a level lower than pondscum, please just take a long walk off a short pier preferably wearing concrete boots!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jo, Please try to stay strong for Blue, I think if it was me I would go door to door along the road and see if anyone has taken him in or if he could be hiding in someones shed or out building, YOU NEVER KNOW he might just be in one of the houses that you knock . Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jo, You have not let him down, these things happen and our dogs get out. The same thing happened to me and i know exactly how you are feeling. You need to just keep postering and emailing places, its probably the only thing that will keep you sane in all the madness of emotions you are feeling right now. Someone somewhere knows something and its only a matter of time, but you have to keep postering. Remember what i said about contacting the traveller liason officer on monday for your area. Dont think about giving up, its not an option i am willing to let you take. You just stay strong and get postering, he's waiting to be found back safe with his mummy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't give up Blue could be hiding out somewhere I am sure he will be found soon. Keelah the area where Blue is borders on two boroughs. Arlington Road is in the Borough of Barnet as is Chase Way. Asda is in the Borough of Enfield. The road I am in onmy side is Barnet and the other side is Enfield so it might be worth sending out press releases to the Barnet local papers. Will be going out with Ben soon to physically look SharonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just drove around for a while - very quiet this morning. Owner has done a very good job of postering the main areas of Southgate and there are lots of gardens/garage areas where Blue might be hiding. There are also allotments behind Asda which migh tbe worth looking in. I have stuck a couple of posters outside Oakwood tube station to spread the word, and will leave a poster at the Village Vet in Winchmore Hill later today. It might be worth contacting the groundsmen at the Saracens rugby club at the top of Chase Side and letting the Chicken Shed theatre know as well in case Blue goes further in that direction. Plus leave details with the Enfield RSPCA on 020 8366 3313 (answerphone). I will do more posters on Monday evening, but hope he is found by then. Jo I have sent you a PM with my mobile number. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't give up he will be found. Just had a thought there is a dog training cllub that is held either in Brunswick Park or the scout hut in Osidge Lane on Sunday afternoons it might be worth you taking posters their tomorrow as they could be local and again help spread the word. I will take my Dane for lots of walks around Southgate tomorrow and take a spare lead. Presume that you must live very near to me, if you see someone walking around Southgate with a Black Great Dane that has a white chest its me!! Keep thinking positive SharonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi every one, thank you very much for all of your support, today everyone in southgate got to know about blue that is missing as we were pilling up the main street of southgate getting blue out there, i have put a posters at ashmole school and the whole surrounding area as well as hamden square and the parks. Blue will come to other dogs as he loves to play with them but will not come to a person the best is to gain his trust through your dog, i also took luie who is blue's best friend and let him put his smell where blue has been, also through out old clothes in front of our door and put some food there aswell, i also walked up and down arlington road with a can of tuna and dribbled to oil back to my home. I am just so worried now as this is the second that has gone buy where no one has seen him. How do I live the rest of my life knowing i let my little boy down, i cant get over this ever.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been off line for a couple of days and so have only just seen this. If the dog has been seen in Arlington Road what about getting someone at Ashmole School to put up notices or has this been done already? Osidge School is another school right near. Is Blue okay with large dogsmine is a Great Dane and I wont take him if it is likely to spook Blue but othersie I will take him for a walk around the area tomorrow Has anyone been to Southgate Police Station? Will also e-mail Cannon Hill Vets as I know they will put the notice up. Have you put a poster in the Petshop in Hamden Square? Hope Blue is found soon. SharonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jo - DON'T YOU DARE GIVE UP ON HIM -as Jazzie says it's early days. Try dragging a sock behind you full of a tin of pilchards (horribly smelly but appealing to him if he's hungry) - make sure that from whever you start you end up at the same spot, put down his bed, discuits or whatever other treat he likes. Make sure it is somewhere safe, quiet and away from traffic. Also, try walking around with a squeaky toy (something loud and annoying) - they think it is an injured animal and an easy meal, his natural hunting instincts will kick in. Try weeing where he has been seen (dont get arrested) it's a strong scent of you that he will recognise. Put flyers through every door near to where he went missing. I know it's time consuming but worth it - someone may have seen him or even taken him. Make him really hot. He's only been gone a couple of days, I know what it's like and what you are going through but you need to get out there as much as you possibly can, especially at dawn and dusk. Finger crossed for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
