It sounds crazy but I'm still hopeful that Legs will turn up one day. We're still in Devon and I'm still keeping my eyes peeled on pound pages etc. It's been 7 years now and we have 3 dogs but there's always room for Legs to come home, even if it takes coming to NI to fetch him.

Sadly this was not a match. Owners have emailed photos of Legs to Greyhounds Galore, who agreed the two dogs were incredibly alike, but unfortunately Dazzler has been know to them for about two years, so cannot be the same dog. Wonderful that Legs is still loved and missed, and owners were prepared to break their journey from Ireland to Devon to look at Dazzler. Here's hoping that Dazzler will get that very special home soon, and that the microchip will bring Legs home. Until then we at Doglost will still be searching for you though my lad, so please stay safe now x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well, well - have contacted owner who has looked at the photo of Dazzler on this site and agrees it is a very good likeness. He is going to check this dog out immediately. They are in the throws of moving home right now, and are leaving Ireland to move to Devon. Sitting amongst packing cases right now. Mobile numbers are unchanged but home number will be updated by them as soon as they have the new one. Wouldn't this be something if this were indeed Legs !! Thanks Sue for letting me know. I do hope soooooo very  much this is Legs.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

PS if the man told you where in the park exactly he saw him, you could set up a safe place with his bedding there, and some of your clothing. Also some smelly food. If he is living over there, he will be patrolling the area searching for food, and could come across your hidey hole with his bedding. That will keep him in that area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Kate - sorry I missed this post re- the sigtings. If you get any more please PM me, or one of the co-ordinators in order that we can make everyone aware. Sounds a pretty positive sighting, and its very possible he has travelled that distance. After all this time he has probably several sources of food and a regular water hole, but being such a distinctive dog it is worth doing more media publicity. keep the leafletting and postering up. If you want flyers done just PM me or Majorjet. These are brilliant and you can print them by the hundreds to hand out at boot sales, and any rural events, markets etc. There is no reason why Legs is not still out there fending for himself really well. You CAN get him back. Lets hope for a new sighting or some publicity soon. PM me on either. Good luck and stay safe Legs xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, it was all completely quiet for about 10 days then had a call this morning from a man in Ballyclare, about 12 miles from point he went missing. He said he read the ad in the paper last night and had seen Legs in Six Mile Water park on Tues or Weds evening last week. Went and leafleted several hundred houses in the area around park and spoken to many walkers today. Great idea but no railway stations between here and the coast (about 25 miles) lots of the houses along the line passing through Templepatrick etc have been leafleted. It is a pretty rural area so many farms etc - have spoken to quite a lot but to be honest the radius of sightings is huge so there are many thousands of properties that fall within the area. Will get more posters, leaflets etc printed out early next week but have hospital appts mon/tues so unlikely to get much done until Weds....... fingers crossed I get some calls in the meantime from today's efforts. Kate, any more news or sightings of this gorgeous dog? Have the railway stations been postered in case anyone saw a dog from a train, and along by the railway? are there houses near the railway line that could have flyers? Rail workers? What else is in the area of the sighting you had? Any stables, farms or outbuildings where he could be holed up? You may need hundreds of posters I'm afraid, and it will often be that very last poster that will bring the dog home. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Pieces now coming out in Newtonabbey Times (Thurs) and Ballyclare Gazette (Mon), hopefully including doglost plug too, and lovely people out searching in the area after work. My own activity a bit limited this week apart from telephone/computer stuff as am on my own with a grizzly baby who's sickening for something. Other dog, Ella, is desperate for her playmate to come home! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a calll this morning from someone in Gravel Hill / Glengormley area who says he definitely saw Legs there on Thursday and Friday afternoon. So looks as though he's still along the railway somewhere (although I know that was 4/5 days ago), hopefully not as far as Belfast. This man's working in the area so keeping a look out all day and friends live in area too so also going to hunt about this evening. Muzzle has gone (thankfully?!) so praying he keeps his hunting to the easy stuff like rabbits and squirrels. Now contacting dog wardens, bin depots and postal sorting offices further afield. I had this problem when Merlin went missing. I called at all the farms in the area and left posters with my number and said I understood that the dog couldn't be allowed to get in with the lambs but asked that they call me first if they saw him to give me a chance to catch him and they were all really good and I did get two phone calls from farmers who'd seen him. Start at the farms nearest where he went missing and work your way out Good luckLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes he can drink with the muzzle. It may even have come off as quite big on him, although then I worry about him being shot trying to take a lamb.....his natural hunting instinct is why he wears one!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep checking in to see if there's news. Nothing I can do but it worries me when I see he had a muzzle on. Was it the kind that will allow him to drink at least?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Templepatrick is only about 4 or 5 miles from where he went missing. Caller said the dog seen was on and off the road close to where the railway crosses it and cars were having to slow down. Couldn't tell me whether this dog was muzzled or not but was pretty sure it was the same dog as in my leaflet through his door (7 miles from sighting). Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How far away were the sightings from where leggs went missing? what was his behaviour like?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nothing today, have been out leafleting & speaking to farmers etc in the Templepatrick area, vets in Ballyclare and pounds/shelters in Larne & Carrickfergus, one of whom had told me they had a tan lurcher brought in Friday pm - not Legs. My husband has been out in a helicopter over the area this afternoon but unfortunately no sign of him. Pieces with photo going into both Antrim Times and Antrim Guardian this week. Not really sure what more we can do at the moment. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just heard of first possible sighting of Legs in Templepatrick early this morning. My husband is out there now searching. Do any volunteers live in the area who can keep an eye out? Was seen near railway crossing..... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
