Hi, no I'm afraid not. My husband did receive a message on mobile yesterday, saying somebody thought she had seen her. But there was another message saying, sorry she was mistaken. Nice to see people are still looking out for her. I think we will be visiting lots of parks in the Wallinton area, during the summer holidays. Never know, we might be lucky. Thanks for asking. poppysmumLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

you may find that councils cleansing will take down a majority of posters, although I think they do leave the odd few up in sympathy. This may be weekly or longer. poppymum try to stay strong, it must be so hard with the kids being upset to deal with too. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am finding that some of the posters i am putting up are being taken down, so i am just putting more up! in the parks they are staying up if put round trees, but if i put them on lamposts, in roads they get taken down after a while. is it the street cleaners? and are you allowed to put them up on lamposts? On my walks i talk to lots of dog owners, and they all say they will look out for poppy christine Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poppysmum please contact the warden at Nonsuch Before you put any posters up - that way you will not be wasting your time - they are a bit particular as to where posters are placed and asking permission. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everybody. Sorry I haven't replied, I'm feeling really down, that we haven't received any calls. It's now a month since she went missing. Had my stitches out toaay, so may be able to drive soon. I'm going to poster parks this side of sutton, Nonsuch, Cheam Park, Sears Park, Collingwood Pk. Will also try to spend some time up at garden centre in Wallington.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't know the park, I was thinking of the valley area. Just remember that as a child in south London, Chipstead Valley was where we went to walk our dogs, we thought it was really wild countryside ! Still a very popular place for dog walkers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is that Shabden Park Sue? Chipstead is a difficult area to keep posters up - do you remember we had complaints and never did manage to keep anything up at the Chipstead side of Shabden Park for very long.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Put poster at Oxshott (station car park) Can't be much more use 'til I get car back. Think Nonsuch, particularly the Sutton side where there is the big school and David Lloyd centre would be a good place to poster (if not done already) if anyone can get there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done everyone, especially poppysmum for staying positive. Have put in request for media support. There is a park off High Road, Chipstead (not to be confused with the high street), where Yiftaki was seen often. Xenasmum can you recall? More helpers now the busy weekend is over, so lets see heaps of posters going up. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not really a Chipstead expert Julie, but the last time I went there, probably a year ago, to poster for a missing dog (Carla G.S.D.) I actually found her, walking along the road towards me ! So I have very happy 'dog finding' memories there ! It's a great dog walking place, and lots of people go there especially this time of year as the bluebells are fantastic, or used to be anyway. I think the 'walking' area is called Chipstead Valley and there is a main car park which would be good for posters, olde worlde pub, rail station there somewhere too. Just trying to think of places dog walkers would go from around the area she went missing. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jules, perhaps Jan S can help with suggestions, as I don't know Chipstead atall. I haven't done Sutton and Cheam, because we've been concentrating on Wallington. However me and my family are quite well known in area - I work at a school and my husband does little league, and loads of people know she is missing and looking out for her. We'll do the parks round Sutton and Cheam next. Husband finished off Manor rd, postering, giving out flyers, and getting the local pubs and takeaways to display themLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Louise, we were out in beddington park today at the fayre. we put more posters up and gave out leaflets. there were lots of people there. lots of people were asking us about poppy and saying they would keep a eye out for her. so many people being supportive. so there are loads of really nice people out there, so please dont let these other morons get you down. christineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jan S, I am not letting the call upset me, as I knew it was a prank. The paper did run a paper the week before last. SueW just rang me to ask whether we would mind if she tried to get the paper to run another re prank call, which I agreed to. I won't bother with phone blocking, unless I get some more calls. Thanks so much for putting up posters. Re Chipstead, I just can't get up there, (can't drive, becaused of operation on hand) and my poor husband is running himself ragged transporting children, doing his weekend work, and flying and postering. We have put postrs up at local schools. Doglost and helpers have been my lifeline. I wouldn't have known where to start without them, and I can't believe how much you lovely people have put yourselves out for me and my darling Poppy. love poppysmum Louisex Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Put a poster in the car park in the middle of Epsom Downs and outside the cafe. Have you asked as many schools as possible if they will display a poster ? also outside rail stations. It just needs that one person who has noticed a dog like her in their area to call you. So sorry about the horrible morons you have had ringing you. Being a Doglost helper is a real eye opener to how incredibly unpleasant some people can be, but thankfully also shows you that there are so many really kind and caring people around.........dog loving people = very nice human beings (99.9% anyway) Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poppysmum, Its hard not to take notice of sad sick people who feel that they have to do such foolish things just to get attention. Might be an idea to ask your phone suppliers to temporarily put a block on witheld numbers until you have your girl back home with you. If people are genuine but they do not want their telephone no. logged they will use a payphone. Should put a stop to the pathetic morons calling. Stay safe Poppy. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This latest stupid call would seem to confirm your doubts about the first one. Just some absolute sick idiot with nothing else in their pathetic life and the only way to get their excitement to make nasty calls. The owner of Digby a border terrier, missing for some time last summer had the most awful calls, all a load of foul rubbish from brain dead nutters. and Digby was found safe and well. I've passed Poppys details to branches of O'meara vets in Surrey, to Epsom Canine Rescue and to family not that far from you. Have you managed to get any stories in local papers ? Maybe this really nasty angle of horrible calls would get them interested (ghoulish I know) and stresssing young children breaking their hearts over missing pets is usually helpful. I so hope you will get good news very soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Some people are so sick, it makes no sense. Even if someone had found a dead animal I am sure that they wouldn't put the animal in the front of the car and carry the body round for two days. Keep your chin up and take care Julie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just received a phone call on my home number, from a male putting on a stupid voice, saying they had my dog, and it was dead in front of their car. What is interesting is that this number is not on the missing posters, and did not appear in the paper but I did email this number to the person who claimed to have found a dead poodle on Manor Rd. So perhaps this supports my view that this was not genuine.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was at work yesterday, so my husband and daughter went round Beddington park putting up posters. we also went to Mellows park, there is going to be a carboot sale there today. the lady in the cafe said she would put one up. we then went to Roundshaw and put up small posters on the entrances to the field where people walk their dogs round there. we put up a small poster outside Pets At Home, they were shut so we will go back when open and ask the staff to have some leaflets. to day we are doing Oaks park. my husband said we will try and get over to round the back of Asda, Mitcham way christine Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good stuff Poppysmum, someone out there must have seen a new dog on the block and its just a matter of time before Poppy is too hot to handle. Are dog sitters still available to help you with this search? They haven't posted on here since 20/4 and they will probably know their own area beter than you. Some of the original posters will be faded now so they could be renewed I would think at least. Sue x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went to garden centre, and gave out loads of flyers. Also did post box and bus stop and shop on junction of woodcote rd and woodmasterne lane. Hubby went around Woodcote Gn and Roundshaw, last night giving out fliers, and asking takeaway shops to put up posters. He also put one on sorting office door at Wallington PO, and I put some on a couple of post boxes, top of Manor Road. Had to finish brcause my 5 year old daughter was finding it hard work, so hubbys going to do lower end of Manor road tonight.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Will put a poster up at Earlswood Lakes this afternoon, as it is Bank Holiday weekend you need to target all parks and walk areas, also DIY shops and Pubs, gyms, cinemas e.g. places where people go to chill out. There are also some shows on this weekend. As Poppy's fur is growing have you contacted poodle parlours and mobile groomers, if someone has her they will need to get her clipped eventually! Also poster all Kennels if not already done. I will take some posters out with me when walking over weekend - not sure where I am going yet. Good Luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou everybody. Just to update, no-one picked up phone at sorting office, so rang Roundshaw PO to see if there was another number. Everyone there knew about her, so that was great, but couldn't give me another number. However 1/2 hour later, someone rang me from PO, and said they'd contacted sorting office on their direct line, and no-one knew anything about it, and the chap who answered went and checked. So feeling better today. Jazzi, great to see many posters have gone out. I'm meeting more and more people who know about her on street. So I will be back up in Wallington tomorrow, nice and early.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Possible sighting of Poppy at Woodcote Green Nurseries on Woodmasterne Lane. One of the sitters neighbour's, who had actually been out for a walk with her a couple of times, thought it looked like her, but her fur was longer, which would follow, as it grows quite quickly, as she is part poodle and doesn't moult. She was there saturday afternoon about 2.00 with teenage girl (spotty). Manager is looking through CCTV. My husband is going to move search to Roundshaw estate area. Anybody round here, please keep an eye out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am Poppy's mum, and I would like to thank everyone for all their support and advice, you're all great. Just to update, we have got loads of posters printed with new photos. These have been sent to vets, blue cross etc. We have received info that someone was trying to sell black poodle at asda beddington, near cash machines. Asda are looking back at cctv as it covers machines and car park, and may be able to find car registration - thankyou customer services manager, you're fantastic! Witness is happy to point out who it was on cctv tapes. Also poster in Asda, and have handed out loads of flyers. Local guardian paper are running an ad this week, and we have managed to persuade them to run a story in next week's paper - thankyou Editor of Guardian, also fantastic! Also putting up posters and handing them out. Everything's crossed. We are absolutely distraught as you can imagine. Hi Leonie - I guess they may try other vets in and out of the area. It's worth making sure all vets get colour posters if possible - it's not just the vet staff that see them but all the customers too. If these people are trying to sell her on then try visiting the local bootsales on Sundays. Poor Poppy must be terrified, hope she's home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

To stand any chance of getting POPPY back you should do what Sue is saying and Poster Poster and contact all the rescues every day it is true if not claimed with in the 7days she can be re homed, you have to make her so well know and you do owe this to the owner. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

leenuts, did you poster at Asda - ask if they will put one up inside and if they have a garage also? Did you contact all vets, rescues etc. Maybe dog training schools? The shops in the area may help. if not tie to lamp posts. I came through the area from Sutton the other day and didn't see one poster from the road side. With traffic the poster needs to face the direction the cars are coming from as well as allowing the public on foot to see them. I am very concerned this baby may end up in rescue and rehomed before owner gets back, so anything remotely possible needs addressing. If you have a car, put a poster in the back window. Carry flyers with you and hand out at prminent places, like teh Asda you refer to. Someone may recall being asked if they wanted the dog. Most stick to the same shop regularly. It will take up hours of your time, but you have some helpers here also able to put up posters. Don't forget to let us know which areas are covered with posters, so our helpers can put them elsewhere instead. Posters are going to possibly be your only way of getting Poppy back. Have you gone into the Sutton area, where owner comes from? Follow the A232 route. Good luck and don't foget I said call for any further advice etc. or if you get a tip off and can't get there etc. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have posters been put up at and around ASDA and other similar places locally? If someone does have her and this is the tack they are taking, it just might prompt them to hand her in as 'FOUND' when they see her getting too hot to handle?? They may also think a cash reward is worth more than the risk of getting caught trying to sell her. Come home Poppy, JayLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A photo is now on site, not brilliant but better than nothing, local helpers and registered organisations notified.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just spoken to the sitters and they are at Battersea now looking around. Croydon and Sutton DW alerted and have also suggested Merton aare advised as its borderline. Beddington park has been postered, but have said shops may help along there too. Vets will be alerted too. If she is trying to find her owners she may be travelling toward Sutton. The A232 runs through to there so hoping she stays safe until found. Good thoughts about hiding. We had a dog last year that hid in a box during a move, unfortunately not a happy ending. Sue - shame about the contact numbers. Sara - good point. Even our male dobermann can curl up so small that people don't know he's there when we take him to a pub or something. If Poppy's frightened then she may well have hidden somewhere (particularly if she's unfamiliar with her puppy sitters).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is no contact info for the owners either at home or on holiday, which makes the situation even more desperate. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Probably not helpful advice, but I'll give it anyway - sometimes when we rehome nervous cats they hide in the tiniest most unexpected places and can remain absolutely still. If they really can't see how she got out, she may well be hidden in the house somewhere. Suggest that tonight at bedtime they leave all doors open and put some food down, she may be tempted out at the dead of night when all is quiet.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm too far away to help, but suggest that the owners are called on holiday. If this was my dog I'd want to know - wherever in the world I was! Even if the owners are unable to get home they may be able to say where a photograph may be found. So hard with x breed dogs to find a similar photo unless you know the dog. Good luck, hope she comes 'home' soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have lots of helpers in and around Sutton & Wallington who can poster. Main thing is the local rescues and vets are advised soon as possible. If she is in rescue and owner isn't able to be notified we all know what could happen. We do not know if she is microchipped and tags come off. We have no idea where in Sutton owner lives, so anywhere needs postering. Lets not forget that Pip SM2 is still missing in the area too. Are we going to try and put on a temporary photo of similar admin? Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Poppy has escaped from a temporary home as being looked after while owners are away on holiday. the collar and tag and still to the owner who lives about 4 miles away. they are not sure how she got out as must have been when door was opened to let out a visitor but they did not see her escape. they have checked all round the house and put up posters. We need as much help as possible as owners are back on 20th and have no idea she is missing. Dog warden and council for this area have been notified.CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
