What a handsome boy Henry is, such a shame that he's been missing for so long. Have you tried the Dogs Trust in Kenilworth as it takes in strays from found by the public - 01926 484398. If you don't get Henry back I hope you find out that he is safe and loved wherever he isxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jo - I will do that, I have a piece going into the local paper tomorrow hopefully if they print it. Theres a psychic detective appearing locally next week- maybe thats an omen eh? almost 2 years on........Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Denise, maybe you could contact psychics again? They may be able to help locate your lovely Henry. Also, put Henry in local newspapers again and keep postering. Henry may have been rehomed a long time ago due to him not being tagged or chipped and you say they won't give him up now, but maybe just a peice in a local paper to say you just want to know he is safe and being looked after. Its nearly March - 2 years on. I look at the sky and remember how light it was that night and wonder exactly how far he would have got on foot before being picked up. As Jayne says Most dogs are found close by - but I know Ive postered all over this area, and then loads more after that following advice from dowsers and physics ( can never spell that LOL) and then repostered again. Please come home HenryLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well theres just 2 months left now and its been 2 years- someone has had a lovely dog for all this time and they arnt going to give him up now are they? Hes not chipped so mine wont be one of those stories where 'dog gets returned after 2 years to original owners because a vet scanned his chip'. Ive almost forgotten what he felt like to cuddle! We all miss you Henry and Storm is getting such an old gent- please come home for Storm! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Justine - we had a few phone calls following the press releases I did after Crufts - only one that could be something though so we will be looking into this now we are returned from holiday. We also had a letter from the Home Secretary via my MP and some other letters of support from 2 companies- so I feel a bit lighter today- even though its this week that he went missing- will feel lower again by Thursday I know. Just been sitting in the back seat of the car so I could see his slobber (sorry gundogs) which I wont let my husband clean off the side of the seat. I all seems like yesterday... I am considering organising networks on a regional basis to help seacrh for our dogs via doglost- is there anyone in West Mids here? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OK Denise I think you need fresh notices on all the dog related/pet related websites you can find... something bold saying "a year on... ". You also need to start emailing papers... local or not, like you say he can't just disappear, someone somewhere saw something. Email/write again to all the english setter clubs and rescues... and keep doing it. don't give up and just imagine henry eating your flowers again. He is out there... you just need to find the right person in the right place at the right time...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Dee and Justine - sitting here crying again!! Its like a needle in a haystack- I really dont think hes local (Solihull/Bham) Ive done too much advertising-- keep coming back to the vets and dog groomers- yet Ive taken out ads in 2 vets brochures and nothing - In fact nothing from anywhere- how can our dogs just disappear!!! Its that depressing time as I watch the daffs coming out - last year he was still here- I remember him biting the heads off my pation tub daffs!- soon I wont be able to think ... last year.... Dee - wish you lived in the midlands! best wishes DeniseLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi An Orange (brown and white) English Setter was seen today on the A451 Kidderminster to Stourbridge road. The traffic was swerving to avoid this dog. He is thin and probably just been dumped. He was seen some 5 miles from Kidderminster near the Park Gate Pub. Denise who lost Henry in March this year is there now driving up and down. This was a definate siting by from someone who knows the breed the person almost managed to grab the dog but he ran off. If anyone is in that area please could you keep a look out. Dog Warden has been notified. Fingers crossed it is Henry and that he is caught safe and well. Thanks ColeenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just completed the media contacts in Hereford & Worcs, Jayne is kindly contacting the vets for me, and I have just done a mailing to all Sorting offices in Worcs/Hereford. Had a nice phone call today from Royal Mail offering to send out anymore poster packs to their sorting Offices across the country free of charge. I hope that Jayne can persuade some of the national newspapers to run the story. Still missing our boy. We are adopting a new lad from Bath Cats and Dogs home to keep our other lad company till H comes home. Looking forward to a busy time!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Recent coverage in Wales and Bham/Solihull in newspapers - article offering reward of free holiday- no news yet. Further report from another source that H could be in Worcs- this dog is sure getting around the country !!- Wish this was a sucess story like Honeybears- I seem to be searching everywhere with no focus. Jade - fancy coming up to stay with us for a while to help track him down ?? Just done a letter to the main mailing centre in Bham - serves 40 sorting offices, asking them to display a personal notice to all postal staff and offering a free holiday if they spot H. Covers areas just outside of Bham too. Will send smilar to Worcs mailing centre and Coventry too as that covers Warwickshire- Jayne if you want the addresses of these let me know.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Following another suggestion from Robert the Dowser I visited weeks back, he had consulted another spiritualist who gave him information that H was picked up by a single man living in the Acocks green or Henley in Arden areas of the B'ham/Solihull area. IF YOU ARE READING THIS -THIS IS A MESSAGE TO WHOEVER MAY BE HOLDING MY DOG. Do you regard yourself as a dog lover ? How can you be when you are keeping a dog from his family? Our dog loves us, this home, his mate very much, and I KNOW he will be missing us and depressed even if it dosnt appear so. He loves the garden, the walks he's used to, the trips to Devon and the beach, the love and fuss we give him, he also loves adventure and mooching about- and thats why he wandered out of our garden in March. He didnt have his collar on because he never goes out unless hes on the lead- and his collar was on his lead. Our family is sick with worry, and depressed because we dont know whats happened to him- we love him and want to be with him for the last few years left of his life. Our other boy looks at me wanting to know when he's coming home, and he looks sad. I am willing to pay you for him - no questions asked - just send him back in a taxi or something- whatever you feel comfortable with. Since he has been gone I have not slept properly and I cant find interest in anything - we have spent all our free time searching, postering and on the internet- no results. We will carry on searching-You have to take him out sometime and I hope that some one will ring and tell us- THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF POOR DOGS ON THE RESCUE SITES THAT NEED A HOME - WHY CANT YOU GIVE A HOME TO ONE OF THESE POOR SOULS AND SEND MY DOG BACK TO US BECAUSE HE HAS A HOME. Jazzie - Have been to the Sandwell/Handsworth Parks area - put up posters and asked the Farm Centre and the Golf club to display his piccy. Went the other side of Junction & turned 1st right (My friend was hopeless reading your instructions)to Great Barr Golf club- put up posters all down this road and asked the golf club to display on the members board- will revisit the area again Fri as more time is needed to go up the road you suggested. I wonder if the RR is R**** Road?- I am checking the A-Z for this.Thank you JazzieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have checked the RR connection. Cant find anything, well lets say I cant. Apart from Rowley Regis, I have scanned the maps and the only connection here are the waterways - there are loads as its the main birmingham-wolverhampton-dudley canal network. The RR could also be Rolls Royce they are in Coventry I believe but will check this out later. Will ring Colleen later this morning.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Now travelling towards Birmingham from Junct 7 M6, along the Birmingham Road, turning right into A4041 Newton Rd travel along this road to the crematorium on the left and turn left. Here you have two golf courses Handsworth and Sandwell Park. There are lakes here but dont match the shape. However the Rushall Canal connects to the River Tame which runs through this area. You could class the "Y" front to the M5/M6 Connection which is very close by.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Right then here we go, after living virtually on Junct 7 M6 Great Barr. Exit Junct 7 head towards Walsall along the Birmingham Road.Great Barr Golf Course is on the right, carry on and at the Wellington Rd junction with Birmingham Rd, there is the Rushall Canal follow this to the Calderfield golf course, now there are two lakes on there. On looks like a cartoon sketch of a lambchop or a piece of ham. See next posting by me after this.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes it is usual- especially if someone has taken her in-people are looking for a "lost" dog so would presume that a dog with a person is not lost! They are sometimes looking for a dog on its own. So strangers would not think twice about seeing the dog-What we need to do is get to the people who may have seen Henry with people they know that did not have a Setter until recently-this means POSTERS GALORE AND LOCAL PRESS COVERAGE! I believe all these dogs are out there somewhere-and in the majority of cases not that far away.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jayne No I will contact Jazzi, and what a good idea about a ticket for the game.. this might get younger people involved - and they are more often aware of the comings and goings in their area, so could be a winner all round (plus good publicity for the football club or whatever! I also suggested to Denise to get photos out to the paper boys and girls to keep eyes and ears open (I believe she did this on one Estate). I find it odd that there has NOT been one real sighting of Henry is this usual. ColeenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good idea Coleen! I have advised people before to put up posters at the gates but I had never thought about announcing it on the tannoy!-maybe one step further is to get a dog loving player to announce it with the promise of a VIP seat as reward? Have you been in touch with Jazzi lately? She lives in Birmingham and has been studiying the hints given by the medium and has come up with a few possible locations.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Denise did tell me that someone had suggested getting a announcement broadcast at her local football club. I checked but Birmingham City were playing away yesterday (and it was the last game of the season) I did give Denise numbers for other clubs in her area who were playing at home (not sure if she managed to contact them). This is a really good idea though and not just football clubs but any large event where lots of people gather. They might also let you display some photos around the arena.. Alarge event can have over fifty thousand people there - it only takes 1 person to see a poster and recognise the dog - if this could be backed up with an accouncement then brilliant. If anyone who lives in an area where dogs have gone missing perhaps this could be organised. So long as we are mindful and respectful I am sure some of these grounds/arenas will come on board and help. Has anyone tried this? Coleen Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to update you all I have recently consulted a 'proper' pyschic (unlike the Fayre I visited 2 weeks ago) who was able to give me the following information on Henry's whereabouts (We now have to trawl the geography sites on the internet and crossref with A-Z maps & then visit the location) If anyone can offer any suggestions or recognises this location from the description please please contact Coleen on 016973 61262- Thank you "A large motorway junction/A main rd crossing over other rds/ a No 7 which could be the junction No/A golf course/A long stretch of straight water/ A small river/A dog-leg-type shape lake/The letters RR - could be the name of the place/An expanse of rd- a busy rd/Open aspect/A road network shaped like men's Y fronts/Within a 50 mile radius of where we live" We live inbetween Bham airport and the NEC- there is a junction 7 right by us and a Junction 7 at Great Barr Bham on the M6 - both these so far have some of the characterisics of the description. And also Henry is alive- THE BEST NEWS- and walking upstairs- could this mean flats ? Any extra help would be gratefully valued. Keep going Denise the Dog World is very small and even smaller in English Setters. The main thing is to 'keep' Henry in eveyone's mind. A boxer was returned to its original owners in the Coventry area after being missing for 3 years (on radio 2 today). With you all the way! Coleen Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep your spirits up Denise-you have plastered the area with posters-sometimes it is just a waiting game! It is very unusual for owners to find their own dogs, normally other people spot them and give owners a call-so as long as you have the posters up you should be covered.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just been out checking some of the addresses that Eris gave us and putting up more posters in areas around us. Dont know what to think about the Cov lead- at least we seem to have that area covered now- also not sure about the Christopher Thompson lead as he never phoned back so we are thinking maybe it was a prank- but are continuing with the search. Depressed again today- after all this effort cant see how we will get him back Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great idea! can you get them somewhere really prominent so the press and media get interested? ie slung between the uprights of a Bridge or under a traffic cctv? Sometimes local tv stations have live cams broadcasting the traffic-I do not know about in Birmingham-but it is worth a go!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry about the confusion with the Road. My husband has been back this morning - no luck. This evening a woman rang from the area (after seeing the posters) to say she is looking for us too- has seen a Spaniel recently but not a ES. I checked out the Wilsons Fun Fair in Perry Barr Bham- just returned from Ealing Common- 2 dogs - a brindle Staffs and a young GS - nothing else. Have had an idea on way home - I work for BCC and with a Community Org that has big printing facility- I will get a quote for heavy duty waterproof A3/A1 posters and if poss will get some produced and put on key islands in our area & Cov for motorists to see.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jackson Street is in Hollbrook area of COVENTRY not Birmingham. Sorry about the confusion. It is lookig good as this was the area where the dog on the Radio was sighted! So fingers crossed! We are now going to do an intense poster e mailing to all the local businesses in that area to help track Henry down.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Directly after speaking to Eris we had a call from a man who works for Cov Public Works- he said he got to work and saw H's poster on his desk (had been faxed thro by dog warden) and he realised that he had seen the same dog on the way to work at 6pm- in Jackson St , Hollbrooks- its a depot with an Animal welfare section so it has kennels- he didnt try to catch the dog - who looked scruffy and not so white- because he thought it belonged to the gypsies on the field at the rear of his works- the dog came up to him and sniffed him too! We have just got back in after searching the area and putting up posters- the man's gone out in his van to trawl the area for us. My husband will go back in the morning, I will be checking out the Fair at Perry Barr and some of the closest addresses that Erin gave me- thanks everyone. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoke to owner, and she's now heading off on a Christopher Thompson hunt. My SO got some useful software off the front cover of a PC mag that has the electorial role lists :-) Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to owners this morning-they say the man had a local accent, but as yet has not rung back! Owner will try to get a slot on the Ed Dooley show on the radio to help track down this man.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hollilly - Re Rover Rescue -Coleen from the ESrescue contacted them for me- they dont appear to have a site on the internet- so I presume its the same people- Thanks for thatLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Agreed ! Dog Wardens are very helpful in Cov - put Bham to shame!- Girl there called Julie if ever you need to contact them. They hadn't had any handed in with that desciption but they are going help look and ask the local radio station for a slot for them to make an announcemnt, plus an ad in the local newspaper. Whilst out looking on this side of Coventry we recieved a call on the home phone and a man left a message called Christopher Thompson - said he had our dog in his shed- then he got cut off and there were 2 other calls so I couldnt trace the no. Waiting for him to ring back - again trying not to get too excitedLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Hollilly- but we have had a lead tonight, a call from a lady who says she heard it on Ed Doolan (Radio West Mids) that there was a white dog running loose in Coventry over the weekend- its quite possible that he could have made his way up the A45, but suprising!- we will be onto the Cov Dog Wardens in the morning and Ed's show. Trying not to get excited about this.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry that H is still missing. I do think about him most days. It is very strange how he has just vanished without trace. I thought he would be found within a couple of days. Wish I could do more to help you. Liz xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry we havent posted before but we have been very busy looking for Henry- Have tried everyones suggestions but no luck - have been to a phsycic twice who gave us convincing information that he was local - we have done extensive leaflets drops following his leads and nothing. 2 sightings proved a waste of time and now we are waiting for a Fair to return to Bham on Friday which was in B8 when Henry went missing. I cannot understand how no-one has seen him. I think he is further afield than Bham- I keep hearing about dogs that turn up 20-40 miles from their home. Is it possible to try vets and pets shops in a greater distance that originally targeted ? The ES rescue people are very supportive and helpful, they are keeping an eye out for him at shows and thro their owners network, and he is posted on their site. Thanks to everyone for helping to find HLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes that is a good point about the food wagons. Have you thought about getting the newspaper boys to put a flyer through the doors when they are delivering the papers?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners have asked me to post their progress. They are putting posters up and replacing some that people have torn down, Have been around industrial estates handing out posters to employers and mobile food wagons, Birmingham airport, local taxi companies and postal sorting offices. Ringing dogwardens and kennels Daily. Ads in local papers. Two possible sightings which were investigated to no avail. Also will be consulting a medium for guidance. Owner would like to pass on thanks to everyone who is helping them to find Henry.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
