It will be 5 years on Wednesday since Archie went missing. He'd be ten now. Still think about him about him all the time and I'm sorry my boys haven't got to grow up with him. He was awesome.

There have been several sightings of Archie or a very similar dog recently in Dundee. Please keep a look out for him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just thought I would leave an update, as it's been some time since I last posted. I still go past this area about once a week/forthnight but have not seen the staffy again. Will continue to look, and have asked the hubby to do the same if he's passing whilst working. We're trying to get a picture so we can pass this onto the Co-ordinators so they can compare with the owners pic's of Archie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I feel I have seen this boy in Dundee. Believe it was on Clepington road, seen a staffy with a solid white leg... really stands out....  Don't know if it's the same, as only been driving past, but could be worth getting some posters up in that area. Last time I saw the staffy with the white leg was last week on Monday, as I was heading to Martex, and he was just outside the place that does holiday homes in Turkey.... (for those that know the area)  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have bumped Archie to the top again as it is one year since he went missing. Have also sent a reminder poster out to all Scottish rescues. Can hardly believe one year has passed. I wish so much that he could be found. I am always on the look out for him with his distinctive markings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ross, I certainly have not forgotten about Archie and in fact sent a reminder poster out to all Scottish rescues a couple of weeks ago. We are now being allowed a slot in the Dogs World newspaper for lost dogs and I have forwarde Archie as the dog for Scotland I wish to nominate first. He is always on my mind and I just wish I could find him for you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks, still keeping the faith that we'll get a break one of these days.  It was a 370 mile round trip yesterday but was the only way we could put our minds at rest.  It shows the great work that doglost does that the similarities of the dogs were picked up and forwarded to us.  Six months has past now but everyone is still working hard to find Archie.  Thank you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rossk I am so sorry that the little dog was not your Archie and although it was'nt him on this occasion in view of all the similarities you did the right thing by going to check the dog out. Hoping you get some news of  Archie very soon xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi.  I had to re register after the changes to the site.  I am Archie's owner.  My wife and I went to Blackburn today unfortunately it was'nt Archie though the resemblance and characteristics were unbelievably similar.  The only way I could have been certain was to see the dog in person.  It is a crying shame that there are so many dogs looking for homes, the wee dog in question was a lovely animal.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The last message I had from owner was on 13/04/08 and that he thought Archie had been stolen or lifted . It certainly seems that ML postcode is a hotspot for dogs to be stolen or missing . Please look out for lovely Archie. He is very distinctive with his white right leg. Other owners PLEASE be very vigilant. There are obviously thieves in this area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I certainly haven't given up either Ross. Only today I checked out a dog in the Sheffield kennels, who looked like archie but it was chipped to another owner, WHO DID NOT WANT HIM BACK !! POOR BOY. I hope he finds a forever home soon. Isn't it awful that you are desperate to get Archie home and other people don't want their dog back at all? Ross, if you have a local radio station like we have here in Aberdeenshire, ask them to put Archie on again even if he has been on already. They are usually really obliging, and don't forget to keep asking the dog warden, police stations and rescue kennels daily. Sometimes dogs pass through without going back to their owner, if a chip is not checked or missed through human error. You have to go personally as well as phoning, regularly, because to some people, a lot of Staffs look the same and can be overlooked. Good luck and best wishes. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi - Totally agree with Sables comment. You'd be amazed how stupid some finders of stray/lost pets can be...they convince themselves the owners of the animal must have thrown them out and abandoned them. The good news he is microchipped and if someone does have him they will have to take him to a vet eventually - who hopefully will remember a Staffy was missing in North Lanarkshire. Make sure all your local vets have been notified. Try to stay positive nobody has forgotten him even if we do appear quite online. KatiexLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done for keeping his profile out there. Someone may have taken him in you know. Staffys are so friendly they would go with anyone. I have one myself. He is bound to be spotted somewhere soon. It just takes one person to see his poster and put 2+2 together. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Sable we will keep going. Got a phone call from someone who reckons they saw him in Pather (a scheme about 1 mile away from us) around a week ago, the person described him pretty well and seemed genuine enough. I'd be surprise if someone had him so close by but it's worth a shot. After the newspaper article my wife has actually had people in the street stopping and asking us if we've got him yet so his profile is pretty high.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cheers Driftdog. We've made regular calls to Wishaw, Bellshill, Lanark, Larkhall and Hamilton Police offices. We are on first name terms with one of the dog wardens who is actually calling us as well now. We've spoken to the cleansing as well and also the railway p-way. Archie is very much a house dog and is not streetwise in anyway. We've been to Bothwell every day apart from today as its closed. Cardonald was a shot in the dark. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hiya, I see you mentioned that you'd been to Cardonald but it's not clear if you have been to Bothwell Bridge? If Archie is picked up in North/South Lanarkshire by Dog warden or even taken to local police he will be taken to Bothwell not Cardonald. Also I saw that someone mentioned postering Motherwell Police station, do you know that Wishaw will take in stray dogs also? Where about's in Wishaw did Archie go missing? Thanks Jo. I've got an in with the taxi drivers already, my mate works with United and his description has been broadcast to both United and Red Line. I had'nt contemplated posters in the taxi but thats certainly something I'll do. Asda claim not to really cater for the posters as its a card system they work and there was one up in Tesco the last time I was in (I live ten minutes walk from it). The police side is covered to. I really appreciate the suggestions, I just keep trying to think of ways of getting people to see his picture.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ross, we know a kindly taxi driver who operates at weekends out of the Wishaw area. I'm sure if Archie is not located by the weekend he'll be happy to distribute posters out to his hires. Try putting posters up at the new Asda's in Cambunathan and Motherwell and the new Tesco'superstore in Wishaw. Have you taken a poster into the Police station in Motherwell? Yes, Des seems a great guy and I'm sure he'll help if he can. He seemed to understand how upsetting it is for your family and especially the children. Fingers crossed for you. I've got a blog on bebo as well which is being copied by many others to their profiles. There's also a thread on my local football forum which has been viewed 1346 times up to now http://www.welltrustfc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28424 . We were at Cardonald yesterday as well, I know he's chipped but I just don't want to take any chances, feel better when doing something as well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Ross, so sorry it was a false alarm. It still is early days yet, and you need to blitze the area as soon as possible, and as thoroughly as you can with posters. You may well need hundreds. Put them in plastic sleeves with the opening at the bottom to protect them from rain, and ensure they are fixed securley. This way, when the sightings start coming in, you can concentrate on them, rather than replacing the posters. Maybe you need to extend the area if home ground, and all the places Sable suggested are pretty well covered. Someone may have picked him up and taken him home with them slightly further away. Great that you have managed to get local paper coverage for in the week. Keep up the good work. You are doing well. Well done.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, thanks for the support folks. We had bit of a false alarm lat night, got a call from someone who had found a dog about a mile away from our house, unfortunately when we got there it was'nt him. At least it shows the posters are working. We're getting a decent bit in the local paper next week so hopefully that will help. Trying everything we can think of, so desperate to get him back. Thanks again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Get posters of Archie out in all the places where there are lots of people - chip shops, vets, local shops, and put little flyers through all the doors in the neighbour hood. Staffies are so friendly, it is likely someone may have taken him in, so it just takes someone to see your poster and Archie could be home soon. Have you called the Dog warden for your area and any local rescues to which he may have been taken if picked up? Hoping you and Archie are re-united soon xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
