Thank you for all the messages that people have left, we went yesterday to see the boxer before we had seen the picture on the website and it wasnt him. The white wasnt right on his chest or nose, but at least we looked as i dont think i would have settled until i did see the dog in flesh. Its so nice to know everyone is still looking out for our baby boy, it really hit us hard yesterday but we are never going to give up hope OUR BOY IS COMING HOME i just know it. Please someone make that call. Let his chip do him proud. Stay safe baby boy, you'll be home with us soon. Love Rachel & Neil xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I don't think it is Georgie on the lost dogs Yorkshire site.  I saw the picture t'other day and compared them, and felt that Georgie had more white.  But it's great that his page has been bumped in case there are any new members to this site who haven't seen him yet.  I still look out for him whenever I cross the moors to Hebden Bridge.  Stay safe Georgie, looking forward to meeting you in the flesh some day soon.  xx

Still no sign of Georgie I guess.  So sad - a whole year missing.  I think the one sighted in Haworth when he first went missing probably wasn't he - there is a boxer who lives close to Sun St who is allowed to wander, and I think it could have been mistaken for him.  Hoping his chip does him proud one day soon.  Sara xx

Just seen the dog on pupsandmuts myself and was about to contact the owners, great that someone has already done so. The dog on the website looks to have a grey muzzle and more white on the chest, but it's hard to be sure. Fingers crossed. It's great that he is still in peoples minds.

I spoke with Georgie's owners last night and they have contacted Marina kennels about the boxer there. The kennels have told them it cant be Georgie as this dog has been handed in by its owners because it has shown aggression towards  (i believe) a child. They also say that the dog is microchipped and they have papers for him. However Georgies owners are trying to get a better description of the dog and may go over to the kennels on Saturday to check him out but cant get there in the week due to work. They need to rule out any possibility that it could be their much loved GeorgieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Has the Boxer at Marina  been checked out yet to see if it is Georgie, I have heard that they do not keep dogs very long at that kennels, I so hope that it is Georgie.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would be so good if this were Georgie - do hope owners are able to check soon.   Also hope that whoever this dog is, the staff at the kennels are able to give him some time and tlc so that he can begin to be less frightened and build up some trust - it sounds as though he's had a worrying time.   Be safe Georgie xx

Saw the dog this afternoon at Marina. Asked how long they had had the dog and its age, but the person was unsure. Said that the dog was aggressive and so they had not got close enough to check it for age etc. The dog seemed to be  full size ,although it was at the back of the run. It was tan with white on its chest and a black muzzle. The dog looked frightened to me which might account for its apparent aggression. Im not saying this is Georgie, but think its worth checking out. Did try to get more information, but couldn't push it too far as I had already insisted on looking at all the dogs in case Freddie was in there. My thoughts are with you.  RachelLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, thank you for all the messages of support, we are still looking for Georgie and are about to send out our 3rd set of letters to vets to ask them to scan any new boxer brought in. There seems to be a duplicate Georgie on the doglost pages, second one down currently under all the Georgies, underneath this one, logged by georgieboy.   Reason I am drawing attention to it is because it has a longer picture of Georgie, showing his 4 white paws with the black mark on one.   It’s a better picture - any chance of it being put on this thread, which seems to be the main one?   If you go in on Advance Search and put Georgie in space for name of dog, it brings up all the dogs called Georgie.

I have been in contact with Neil & Rachel while the site has been off line, they have been to see a couple of possibilities in Kennels but neither have been Georgie, there has been a boxer dog spotted in a garden in Rippendon eating cat food for a period of 2 weeks who looks very like Georgie but so far he remains elusive. They are still very active in their search and all leads are followed up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi All sorry we havent put anything on for a few days, things have been hectic for us, no more sightings of Georgie yet. We have just sent out 57 letters to vets around the area where he went missing, we have covered quite a large area. Basically we have asked them to double check any newly registered boxers and scan any brought in, he also sent a poster and an A4 colour picture of Georgie showing his black spot on his paw and his white chest. Fingers crossed, we are going to target the papers again next week so hopefully we will get some good news!!! We want to refresh people's memory so they are aware he is still missing or as Sasha's owner said he could be in a completely different area where there are no posters!! Fingers and paws crossed. I am logging on every day too, I hope you take my advice & place more "Lost" adverts in the local papers, I used the Telegraph & Argus & the response I got was absolutely amazing, I know I am rambling on about this but it really helped in my search for Sasha, I was looking in the totally wrong area's until people rang who had seen the advert. Its strange actually because I found her not far away from where Georgie has been spotted (Wilsden Road, just off Haworth Road) before the calls I was looking in Shelf/Woodside (miles away). Sorry if I am repeating myself!! If we can just get some calls about recent sightings we will have a clue where to search (he could have moved on to a different area where there are no posters up). I am still looking out for him & hoping he will just appear one day, I want to see you home with your Mum & Dad Georgie, keep safe until then xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been over to Haworth Road & Black Moor Road but no sightings sadly. I gave some posters out to locals who were walking their dogs around, one local pointed to a lampost & said "I have already seen the poster", so at least people are looking at the posters. I can get to Haworth pretty quickly as well (I work in Cullingworth). If you get any sightings give me a call on 07795 691800, I will see if I can get out of work & head straight over. I will go over there at dinner time anyway & just have a drive round & ask locals of they have seen him lately. I really want to see him home safely & re-united with his Mum & Dad who are obviously desperate to find him. Fingers crossed xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sara, the road she said he was heading towards was Keighley Road, she said it was as if he was heading back to the town centre, but ran back into the woods. Keighley Road as im sure you know leads from Hebden Bridge back up towards Oxenhope, it becomes Hebden Bridge Road up towards Oxenhope. It might be worth a drive around Haworth just encase he has headed back that way, but only if you have time and nothing else planned. We are over 2moro evening so will possibly try and have a drive around as well. I will be in contact if we hear anything else 2moro. Thanks again, xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The sightings in Blackshaw Head are possibly not Georgie as a dog was found on the same evening that the gentleman had told us about his sighting. The dog that was found we are told that it was a large brindle dog but not a boxer, more of a cross staffy with a large breed. We are in the process of getting more details. Hi all, sorry i have not been on, i havent been well. But Neil has just had a phone call from a lady to say that she has been walking her dogs this evening and has seen a Brindle boxer in the woods at Nutclough in Hebden Bridge, she said she saw it from behind and noticed that he had a tail and that it was docked but was too far to see how long it was which kinda suggests it possibly longer than normal for her to notice it at all. she said she saw him heading towards the main road so she tried to approach him to stop him but he bolted back up the track into the woods. She took her dogs home thinkin it might have been because she had her dogs with her and phoned her friend who also walks her dogs there and told her and she said she had also seen the boxer in the same woods. she said she went back out without her dogs but could not see him. She had seen the letter in the Hebden Bridge times that Sara the STAR wrote for us. another lead from the same advert now, Sara you're amazing. Me and Neil are thinkin for the last few days that he has been in Hebden Bridge where we lost him as we saw footprints on the towel that we left where he originally went missing so this sighting in Hebden Bridge in the last couple of days could possibly fit his movements in the last week. We are going to head over to Nutclough 2moro evening when Neil gets back from work and scent and have a look in the woods for a possible den he may have there. Sasha's owner- Georgie's owners, Rachel & Neil did put an ad in the Keighley News after he went missing, they may try again. I wrote letters to the Keighley News, The Telegraph & Argus and the Hebden Bridge Times a couple of weeks ago , and I think the HBT published it - that's how they got the sighting in Mount Tabor and Blackshaw Head. I'll suggest it to them again.

Catty-Sara- Thanks for that, I really do think it would be worth putting a "lost" advert in the local newspapers for Bradford & Halifax, I cant stress how much my advert helped. I would have been looking in the totally wrong area's if people hadn't rang me after seeing the "lost" notice, I know it is expensive but in my opinion it was worth every penny. Alot of calls I received were from people that didn't have internet & wouldn't have thought to look on the internet. Somebody may even see the advert & recognise the dog as the neighbours new dog!! If we can just get somebody ringing to say they have spotted him lately we will have a clue where to start searching. I really want to help but he definitely knows how to get around & could have covered miles since his last sighting. I will def keep my eye out in Cullingworth & Haworth, but hopefully there will be some more recent sightings for us to concetrate on. Come on Georgie, show yourself now xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sasha's owner - Mount Tabor is near Halifax, a bit north of Pellon, you can get to it by a very rough minor road between Oxenhope and Hebden Bridge (the road comes out near Oxenhope, and passes the wind farm). We postered Cullingworth a few weeks ago when we had had sightings of Georgie in Haworth but with long periods of him disappearing then reappearing in Haworth. We didn't know where he was going so we postered Cullingworth in case he was going over that way - there have been no sightings of him in Cullingworth, and since then there have been the Mount Tabor sightings. It looks as though he is working a rough triangle between the point he went missing (which is on Midgeley Moor, near Hebden Bridge), Mount Tabor and Haworth, which would make sense given the lay of the land - i.e. mostly moorland with small minor roads. The possible sighting of him at Blackshaw Head would also tie in with the triangle theory - it is to the West of Mount Tabor in a direct line through the area where he went missing. As far as I am aware, there haven't been any sightings of him for over a week now, but he could be working the moorland routes and hiding out away from civilisation.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have been trying to find the location of Mount Tabor, is it near Ogden or Haworth? I work in Cullingworth so Haworth is not far away at all, I could drive out on a dinner time & speak to the locals/poster etc. I also noticed a poster of Georgie in the fish shop in Cullingworth today, I spoke to the lady in the fish shop & she said alot of people have been asking who's dog it is but no actual sightings, the poster is not a Doglost poster so I have given the lady the Doglost website address & asked her to pass the details onto anybody that may have seen him/heard anything regarding a dog of this description & also give anybody the website address if they are willing to help with the search. Fingers crossed for your safe return Georgie xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I thought I saw you both up there yesterday I was out with dog I think it was you who drove on the heights road whilst I was walking up to the golf club. Calder Valley Search and Recue have a border collie who finds people on scent I wonder if it's worth a try to ring them, could it find a dog! We walked up onto the moor but nothing. I go up there regularly every week and always keep my eyes open and call for him(even though I know it's of no use at this stage). So many people are now aware of him being missing and pet log have his lost details. Lets hope it is not long before he is seen again or turns up in another most unexpected place. Rachel I am also aware that the council is reponsible for the removal of stray dogs in halifax as of the 6/04/08. If this is the case then it might be an idea to bell Bradford Council to see if it's the same set up. I have notified Halifax. Nelson and Colne might also be an idea as well. Hope you have some luck soon LxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, we were over in haworth yesterday all day and driving about lots today too, we went back up to were he originally went missing yesterday and one of the towels we had left had some paw prints on it of the same size as Georgie. We left some pichards, scented and some dog biscuits in the area in the hope that the prints were his and he had been back recently. We went back up this morning just after 6am as the sun was rising and unfortunately all the food was still there and no fresh paw prints. We have again been driving around most of the day and done quite a bit of walking in the areas where we have had possible sightings. No luck unfortunately. We are gonna send out a large number of letters to all the vets in surrounding areas and pretty much most of west yorkshire as if someone has found him and taken him in he could have been sold on and we just want people to scan new dogs if possible and make them aware of his distinguishing features. Fingers crossed we may get some luck soon. Rachel & Neil xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've tried about ten times to register and get on as a "helper" but keep getting "Your account is inactive" messages! Please pass on or post the following information against, "Lost Brindle and White Boxer Dog in North (HX7), Georgie" Large brindle brown dog appearing to be at least partly boxer seen at around 9pm Tuesday 08/04/2008. At grid ref SD 914277 on road between Blackshaw Head, (Hebden Bridge) and Mereclough, (Burnley). Dog displayed slight limp but although not agressive, appeared frightened and could be coaxed near to check collar, etc. Continued up road past County Boundary at SD 913282 toward Stiperden Bar House and eventually doubled back towards boundary. Returning at around 10:30pm saw another couple one who was searching up boundary path towards Wolf Stones at SD 916287. They had seen the same dog earlier and had returned with lamps to try to catch it. Left them to it. Don't know if they had any luck. Hope this helps a bit. Know area well, (though not from a dogs point of view!) - could help if you want to organise proper search. Chris........message received at HQ. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Possible sighting of Georgie this morning at Mount Tabor, HX2. This is a few miles (maybe four) from where he went missing but towards Halifax, not Haworth. Neil has gone to have a look so we may know more later. However, looking at the triangle theory, this might fill in some blanks. If the sightings are all accurate, he went missing from near the Golf Course on Midgeley Moor, then was seen in Haworth the next day, which is about 5 miles as the crow flies over moorland in a generally north direction. Mount Tabor is about 6 miles from Haworth in a South-Easterly direction, and Midgeley Moor is about 4 miles west from Mount Tabor. This means he is covering a much bigger area than we'd believed, but may account for the long gaps between sightings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just been to have a look at Raoul's story (the Spanish Water hound). The journalist is Tom Goodhand and he's on the YP, so you could contact both? Good luck. HI Rachel - I am hopeful that my letter will go into the Keighley News this week. I don't know if it has gone into the T&A yet (or at all). I also wrote to the Hebden Bridge Times, which I think is a weekly paper, so it might be in there this week too. FIngers crossed. As well as contacting the journalist that Cath suggests, look at the reunited story of the Spanish Water Spaniel (I think!) recently, I think the postcode was WF. His owner is a journalist on the YP or the YEP, so a two pronged attack might stand a better chance of being printed. Will also pm you in a moment. SaraLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Rachel and Neil, so sorry youve had no luck finding Georgie yet. I know its heartbreaking for you. If you are trying the YEP see if you can get to speak to the reporter Howard Williamson. He was very helpfull with the story on Cassie and Allie, maybe it woud be worth mentioning them and the fact that it was his story that brought cassie back to us. He is a dog lover himself and is familiar with the dog lost site. Hopefully he will be interested in running a story on Georgie. Good luck Cath xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rachel - from what I've read on here, there doesn't seem to be much point in setting a trap unless you know where he is and the pattern he is following. Certainly, when trapping cats, we don't attempt it until we have set up a feeding station and the cat is returning to it regularly. I think it is the same for dogs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yasa - the sightings are pretty much in a straight line, but go onto the moors where there are farms and a (private) tip. Stu has postered and leafletted all the farms etc near where he has been seen and my OH has leafletted the estate at the end of the road leading onto the moors, which is roughly where he was spotted some weeks ago. I understand the triangle theory (from reading doglost) but Georgie seems to be acting in a straight line or at least we are only aware of him in a few places in a straight line. My thinking was that as we seem to get a lot of sightings over a few days, then none for a week or so, then repeated sightings in the same areas again, he may well have a triangle pattern but we don't know one or two of the points of it. So for a week or so he is "out of range". I was trying a bit of lateral thinking along the lines of - if we don't know where he is going, maybe we can work out when he is likely to come back (from the previous sightings) and stake out the areas we've seen in. I realise my knowledge and skills are very low in this area of work, but the spacings of the sightings seem so bizarre (compared with other dogs I've read about) that I wondered if another approach might be called for. I am sure Rachel & Neil would be grateful for any suggestions made.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just reading your post here catty-sara, re the sightings. All sightings should be plotted onto an ordnance survey map preferably, so that you can see the area Georgie is travelling in. Usually this will form a triangle, and the dog will move around within that area trying to pick up a scent he knows. If you do this you may be able to get in front of him. Good Luck. Rachel - just thinking on my toes here. Do you have a list of the actual dates and places that you've had likely sightings of Georgie? I ask because I am wondering if he is wandering around and just reappearing in the Haworth area every couple of weeks or so and if so if we can sort of time it for him to come back and stake out the places where he's been spotted.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Rachel, My OH has leafletted all Sun St apart from Ivy Bank Lane and the old cottages at the top of Ivy Bank Lane. He has also done Woodlands Rise. You might be best concentrating on Cold Street and all the little streets and mini-estates off it. Cold St is known locally as Cold Shaw by the way, in case anyone mentions it to you. It might also be worth you leafletting the houses on the far end of Marsh Lane and the houses on Moorhouse Lane which leads down to Oxenhope and the Steam Train station. My OH leafletted (as above) with the leaflets you ped off the other week, so it is quite recent. There is also an estate and some odd houses off the road leading to the carpark on Sun St (Weaver's Hill). He hasn't leafletted there. We're not around tomorrow morning, but we should be here in the afternoon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all as Sara said unfortunately no joy, the lady that phoned Neil was quite sure that it was a boxer and mentioned that it definitely wasnt the other ladys boxer (she said her by name) that keeps getting out in the area and said it was dark brindle so hopefully it was Georgie and not the lab cross. She also said that she had seen the poster everyday and was certain it was him so fingers crossed he's still in this area. We are heading over 2moro afternoon when the car comes back from the garage and will scent some areas close by Sun Street and leave some food about. I think we may also leaflet Sun Street and surrounding streets just to make people aware he is still missing in the area. We will try and speak to as many residents as we can at the same time. Big thanks to Sara & OH for going straight over especially since they had as poorly puddy tat in th evan, really sorry i didnt know otherwise i wouldnt have asked you to go over. A big thank you to Stu as well for heading straight over just as he had spoke to Neil, we really appreciate everything you are all doing for us. No sign of Georgie, I'm afraid. We got up there about 5 minutes after speaking to Rachel and drove around, looking in all the places mentioned and places on from Woodlands Rise. We covered the car park, the top of Main St, Sun St and several of the streets off it, the bottom of Mill Hey several times and then back onto BlackMoor Road, just in case. no signs of him whatsoever. There was a dog rampaging about the fields alongside Woodlands Rise (off Sun St) on both sides of the road, but it was a lab or a lab-cross. Stu also saw him and confirmed it wasn't a boxer. We had to come home because I had a sick cat in the back of the van, and it was getting dark too so visibility was poor. So so sorry we didn't see him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

we are over an hour away and today of all days we have no car as our has gone in for servicing and MOT this afternoon. Neil mentioned to the lady about other boxers in the area as we have had this a few times and it has been a red boxer, she said it was definitely dark brindle and she was certain it was him as she sees the posters everyday, there is one just outside her house. This whole story still sounds incredibly fishy to me, why the changed details etc etc. After all they could photograph any boxer and send the photo. I'd be inclined to try to register Georgie as stolen and see if that helps? - maybe with another police station? Did Jayne manage to speak to the person who heard about the finder and rang up, or only to the police person? It does seem as tho the police contact has been incredibly naiveLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This must be so hard for you I am so sorry. I only lost my Boxer for a week but I was absolutely devastated until I got him back, so I know how dreadful you must be feeling. I just wish I could do something oractical to help, but I am too far away to be useful. (Essex) Would it be possible for you to speak to the policeman again and tell him everything that you have written on doglost today. Maybe you could show him the page and let him read it for himself, the whole story that is. He might then understand your frustrations about things and perhaps explain a bit more about why he was so convinced by this woman. If you don't get any luck, you could always try writing to the Superintendant at whichever police station he came from. Don't complain, just lay out the facts and say that you do not understand what has happened. Address it to the Senior Office In Charge. Or if you can, ring the station and find out his name. You could always enclose a print of the doglost pages about Georgie. Anything is worth a try. Again, I'm sorry I can't do much, but we are all thinking of you here and praying you find Georgie very soon. Love from Julie and Boxers Lewis and Molly xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Caroline - I think Rachel & Neil phoned every vet in the Shipley/Saltaire/Bingley area after they'd received the first phone call, and vets in the Keighley area (and Hebden Bridge area) have posters.
Alice - I don't think there is any harm in putting posters up in Keighley, Skipton and Bingley - the last (probably) positive sighting was some time ago in Haworth, and he could have got anywhere from there since then. There was a possible sighting on Sunday I think by a bus driver on Black Moor Road between Oxenhope and Haworth which is where we think he was sighted a few weeks ago, but although Rachel and Neil and a few others including me and Stu (who has boxers) spent a long time up there on Monday and Tuesday, there have been no further sightings. We are not sure if the sightings were genuine or if there is another similar dog in the area, and if they are genuine, we're not sure if he is going off somewhere and returning. All the farms etc up there have been postered by Stu, and there have been no further sightings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Such a sad & frustrating story & I really hope you get some answers very soon. I live in Skipton & work in Keighley which isn't too far away from Saltaire - is it worth me putting some posters up in Keighley? Or my hairdressers is in Bingley & I am going next week so if you still don't have any answers then I could put some up there? Please let me know if it would help to get Georgie back. x x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi - I have been following Georgie's story and I hope you manage to get him home soon. Just a thought, and Im not sure if this has been suggested already but have you tried contacting all the vets in the Saltaire area. If the ladies story is to be believed then you could phone the vets and ask if anyone has bought in a stray boxer. Surely this lady is required BY LAW to report a found dog to the police/dw if she hasnt done this then she should comply. Use the following link to find all vets in the Saltaire area. http://www.rcvs.org.uk/Templates/system/FAVSearch.asp?NodeID=89660 hope you manage to get Georgie back xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

have just sat and read this latest news. Really do feel for you. One thought I have had about the beautician aspect, although expect you have covered it - could it be someone who runs a mobile business i.e. visits homes rather than having an actual address? Could explain why you can't find details. People running this type of business often only have their details in small local community publications or local shop windows and noticeboards. Is it worth contacting some local shops like hairdressers who might know of a beauticians name etc. Sorry if all this sounds silly but just trying to help from a long distance.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Onreading this, it sounds to me that the lady was willing to help (why give out her phone number in the first place), and now someone has told her to change her story, if the found dog is not theirs, they have obviously fallen for it. Keep going, chin up, you have done so much to get Georgie back. He can't have dissapeared into thin air. Once Again GOOD LUCK.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can anyone give any advice on where we actually stand with this legally as i feel that we may not be told the whole truth 2moro, for all we know, the person that found the dog could still have him. But by saying he has been claimed by his owners means that the police arent bothered at all, and as far as they are concerned she no longer has the dog. Actually feeling like we would now possibly get somewhere and get the details we needed i awaited a phone call back. When he did call back he asked me specifically not to contact the woman by text or phone again, that he believed that the woman was genuine and there had been misunderstandings. But there were definitely genuine reasons why the contact details of the salon werent given out, which he wouldnt go into detail about but did say it was due to illness. The woman had told me that the girl who found the dog was only part time as her mother was ill. How the hell would this affect a business name being given to me and why the hell could she not have said this in the first place instead messing me about. The salon is open as usual as the woman said she had an appointment today so why would illness cause the name of the business not to be given to me. The guy basically said that she was genuine and that we were going to receive a phone call 2moro to tell us about the dog found and that it had gone to its rightful owners and that would be it. He said from what she had said to him about the dog and it being 4 years old and also from looking on our lost report he didnt think it was Georgie as he had dogs himself and knew a bit about dogs, although earlier today and on Monday she told us she didnt know any details about the dog (other than the vet had said it was between 18 months to 2 and a half years old, which today changed to the vets saying it was 4 years old) and we didnt even know if it was male or female. But she was able to reassure him that it most probably wasnt our Georgie. So what has she said to him then, i dont get it, they have taken her side and actually made me feel like rubbish about it when all i want to do is confirm for definite that it isnt Georgie and that the rightfull owners now have the dog. According to this guy all the girl that found the dog has to do now is contact us 2moro by 9pm to confirm that she has given the dog to its owners and thats it. He did say that if she hadnt contacted me by 9pm i could phone him back and he would re-contact the woman again for me. Are the police really that naive that they think people dont lie to them, i didnt realise that they had invented lie detector phones!!!! If everythin in life was so simple.......................................................................... "No judge he is innocent i spoke to him on the phone and he sounded genuine"!!!!!........................................................................... He then did add at the end of the call that he had assured this woman that we would not contact her again by text or phone and wanted me to assure him of this. He basically made me feel like i had been harrassing her when in fact i just wanted answers and was actually being nice to her all along although she was causing great frustration to me i never showed this. So now we sit and wait for a call from god knows who, and for all we know might not even be the person who actually found the dog now. All we want to do is go and see the dog that was found as after all the only people that will know if it is Georgie or not is US!! We wont be satisfied with being told that the dog was given to its owners when there has been so much deception, you can tell when you are being lied to and she was lying. Changes in a story as you speak to someone normally gives it away. The main fact that they have said he wasnt chipped and that it hasnt been reported is the main concern as to how the hell did the people claim him when we have struggled so much to get her number or the details of where she works!!! To be continued 2moro..............Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Basically after several failed attempts at trying to contact this woman she finally replied to a txt when i mentioned the police being an option for me contact. She texted me saying that she only knew the information through a third party and whether it was accurate or not she didnt know. Basically i told her that all i wanted was the contact details for the salon so i could contact the girl myself and know for definite that it isnt Georgie. She wouldnt give out the details and kept telling me the best she could do was give the girl our number and get her to phone us. She told us that the dog that was found was not chipped and ours was. I explained that the chip cannot always be found and sometimes vets may not scan an animal and also asked how the dog had been claimed if there wasnt a chip and no vets or police know about it being found in the first place and whether the people who actually claimed the dog where the rightful owners. She still wouldnt give any details about the salon, i told her that i understood her not wanting to give out a private number for the girl but couldnt understand why not a business name or number. No explaination or help. She gave me no option but to contact the police and ask them to contact her on our behalf to get some details of the salon. I spoke to someone and explained the whole situation as we had been told it, and he AGREED that it didnt sound right and actually said he wondered if there was a found dog in the first place. He said he would contact her and see what she said and then phone me back. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ring the police to see if they are interested Rachel or what do DOGLOST suggest. Seems very strange. I believe if she is aware that the dog is not hers or the beauticians then what she has done constitutes theft. She may also be being threatened herself to keep quiet. Dodgy. Police should do something. I would be inclined to report it straight away. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

HELP we dont know what to do, we have contacted the lady that phoned us on Monday and she first said that she hadnt been able to get in touch with her beautician but had an appt with her at 3pm this afternoon and would let us know just after that more details. She then changed it to say it was the receptionist at the beauticians and told me it was called Claires beauticians. I have tried to find a beauticians anywhere near Saltaire or Shilpey but there isnt one. Neil then rang the woman after she still hadnt phoned us back and she first said that she didnt think it was our dog. When Neil asked for the womans details who had found the dog she wouldnt give the details and then said that when the woman had taken the dog to the vets they had said it was 4 years old and so cant be ours. Then when Neil insisted on having the details just encase she then turned round and said that the dog had already been claimed. In the space of one phone call she seemed to change her mind more than once from it possibly not being ours to someone already have claimed it. It just doesnt make sense to us. When i spoke to her on Monday she told me that 100% the lady that found it was looking after it after she had taken it to the vets as she had previously had boxers herself. She also said on Monday that the vets had said it has between 18 months to 2 and a half years old. an now all of a sudden its 4 years old. We cant understand how someone has claimed this dog when Neil has contacted all authourities in the area and no-one knows about it. So if she hasnt reported it how did the owner claim the dog. Both Neil and myself have contacted every vets in the shipley area and not one single vets knows about a boxer being brought into them recently. Why would the woman lie when she was the one that contacted us in the first place. I have tried to call the woman to get details on the finder but she wont answer the phone and has cut me off twice. What do we do????? PLEASE HELP Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think you should start contacting the dogwardens, police and stray kennels that cover Saltaire and surrounding areas. IF the dog was booked into the stray system it would only get 7 clear waiting days before it could be rehomed. Also a finder is legally required to report finds to dogwardens & police......unfortunately not many know it. You say that the dog was checked by a vet, so also try the vets in case they know what happened to the dog. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A lady phoned us this afternoon to say her beautician found a boxer dog last week and it had ben tied to a lamp-post, it was ok just a bit underweight. The lady has been trying to contact her but she is away until Wednesday so is going to phone her on Wednesday morning and get some more details for us and ring us back. The lady wasnt sure where she found the dog or any other details other than that she is based around Saltaire but isnt sure if she lives over that way or not or if the dog was found over that way. I have had a look on google maps and Saltaire is over towards shipley near Baildon. The lady that phoned said she thought it was strange that one had been found tied to a lamp post especially with ours being missing and said it was possible that someone could have picked him up and either realised he was neutured or saw all the posters of him missing and thought he was too hot to handle!!! Tying the dog to a lamp post knowing it would be found quite quickly. Fingers crossed. But the lady did say that the finder had taken the dog to the vet to get checked over, so surely they would have scanned it, gonna check anyway!!! always a possibility they didnt or the chip wasnt found!! fingers crossed will keep you all updated. Hi all, as Sara has said the sighting on Carr Lane is most likely NOT georgie, i spoke to a farmer on that road and he said that there is a boxer dog that lives at the end of that road and is usually wandering around, normally with a small terrier type dog, but does wander about a bit. He said he looked just like Georgie. Feel like we are back at square one again!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Stu - hold off the printing for a while anyway. Rachel & Neil called today and apparently the sighting in Mickelthwaite is likely to be a local dog who is allowed to wander. They were going to go back and look around the Oxenhope end of Black Moor Road. They have seen some large dog pawprints around the derelict house there, HappyLands (the one down Heights Lane, which has had the roof replaced with corrugated sheets). Hopefully Rachel will be back later to update us. If you do wander down there (though I realise it is the other side of the valley to you) and if you meet the farmer, Michael, tell him you're a friend of mine, Sara Wilkins - that's my maiden name - he should be OK with you then.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If there are any doglost supporters in Baildon, Eldwick or even Menston/Burley in Wharfedale, could you display a few posters round and about. He seems to be going in a straight line, so those might be the next places he'd visit. Bizarrely despite the huge distances involved, he is a lot closer to home now than he was when he went missing (if the sightings are actually him!).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

You are working so hard to get Georgie back, you so deserve him to be home very, very soon. I would have happily offered to print posters for you and send them 1st class, but because of the holiday they won't be with you until Tuesday anyway. If you do get stuck let me know and I will print and sleeve them for you and send them to your home address. BEST OF LUCK FOR THE WEEKEND. Kind regards Julie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We came along from Micklethwaite and followed a road that lead us all the way back to Crossroads, it wasnt very far at all. especially as we were saying the other day if he was gone up from Blackmoor Road along Hebden Road and up towards Crossroads he could easily have gone across there then. There is a lot of moorland all the way along!!!Fingers crossed more sightings will come in this next few days and our baby will be home very shortly, i can just feel it in the air!!! Hi there unfortunately no luck today, we have put around 50 posters up in Micklethwaite and surrounding streets. Neil spoke to a couple as he was putting a poster up in Micklethwaite and they said there was a ramble on through Micklethwaite 2moro and it was starting near where we had put a poster, they said they were going to get everyone to have a look at the posters before they set off and keep an eye out on the way. We only have a small amount of leaflets left, and my printer is the same as yours Stuart kaput!!! I will be able to get some more printed on Tuesday. We are going to use the ones we have left for around the Micklethwaite area 2moro. Thanks againLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sure the fact that it is so close to where we were originally looking makes it a possibility that it's Georgie who has been seen in Micklethwaite. You could see the main Keighley Road at the top of Cullingworth from the landfill at Haworth. 10 minutes across fields for a dog and of course still in the same locality. Fingers crossed and let us know if you want any help looking for him. LxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We've been postering and leafletting in Cullingworth this morning, postcode area BD13, and Rachel, Georgie's owner has had a call from someone there who thinks they may have seen him in Mickelthwaite, postcode area BD16. It is a fair distance but not unfeasible for an energetic dog such as Georgie. Is there any chance you (or someone) could get a revised poster out to people in those postcode areas? Sorry if this isn't how it works. Thanks, (happy Easter), Sara, Haworth Cat Rescue Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rachel and Neil called in tonight to give some more handbills for us to post through letterboxes (well my OH actually). We are going to concentrate on Cullingworth and R&N are going to concentrate on Oxenhope. There have been no recent sightings in the Brow/Black Moor Road area, so we have to assume he has moved on. We assume not towards Haworth as there are loads of posters down there, so we'll widen the search and see if there are any more sightings. The weather is awful here today, so I would guess he has gone to ground if he is still out there. Still hoping for a piece in the local paper, to highlight his plight, but nothing so far as far as I am aware.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have today taken a list of all the dogs missing in the Yorkshire area and emailed the list to YEP & YP, Calendar, Look North, Radio Leeds and the Paul O Grady Show (thank you to hopeithelps for this suggestion). 32 dogs missing since 1st Feb 2008!!!! Hi, Lee lane, if you were to go onto to sun st at the haworth side towards marsh, and drive all the way to the end, past marsh, when you come to the x roads, you can turn right to go up to penistone, left to go down to shaw lane (back to oxenhope) lee lane is straight on, it turns into a muck track but is actually the old hebden bridge rd. Rachel, if it's stopped raining tomorrow morning, we'll go and put some "scented" towels around Black Moor Road. Do you happen to know which end of B M R he was seen? Towards Haworth (near the windturbine) or towards Oxenhope. If we don't hear from you we'll just do it along the Haworth end.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you to Cassie and Ali for having a late dins dins to help us, it was lovely to see them both. We scented an area near to the quarry and also near the entrance to the landfill. Fingers crossed!!! We had a call this morning from a gentleman who had seen our posters to tell us that he has seen a dog and thinks its Georgie along Blackmoor Road twice last Saturday, 2pm and again at 5pm then thinks it was Sunday but definitely again on Monday. He said he tried to approach the dog but he seemed timid and ran off before he could catch him!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keelah - it was Cassie the boxer stolen in Leeds. There were two - I've called the other one Abbie, but I'm wondering if I've got that wrong. Anyway, they will be in reunited under an LS postcode. (Gorgeous dogs, btw). It was useful for us to have Georgie's owner show us how much bigger Georgie is, and to show by comparison how much white he had compared to Cassie. (Does that make sense?). No sign at all (unless anything happened after we came home). There were 8 of us, including Cassie & Abbie's owners (and Cassie and Abbie) but no sign. My OH has driven round for an hour this morning but again no sign. There seems to be some walking event today, which we didn't know about or we might have put some bigger posters up, so I don't know if that means he will go to ground or show himself if they get near him. Rachel, Georgie's owner, has left us with lots of bottles of urine so if there are any sightings we can go and start scenting immediately, and I think they're back again today later and again tomorrow for another look.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As far as I know, the sightings were at the landfill (which is private) - the tip is quite a bit further away and not in the vicinity of the wind turbine or the cross roads where he was sighted last week. (The cross roads are the ones where Hebden Road is crossed by Brow Road, the very steep one going down into Haworth). The windturbine is just along Black Moor Road near the quarry, which is a few hundred yards up Brow Road, in the opposite direction from Haworth. I understand that the landfill is further along Black Moor Road beyond the quarry, though I wasn't aware of it myself. Georgie was seen in Haworth, near the vets a couple of nights ago. By someone coming back from Brownies or Guides, so that would be early/mid evening. I am going to go down and lurk around there at dusk as Rachel & Neil won't be around until after dark. The vets are down the hill along Mill Hey and easily accessible if Georgie is loitering around the wind turbine area and goes down to Haworth in a straightish line. If you are in the vicinity of the wind turbine and see him going down towards Haworth, phone me (pm me for my mobile if you don't have it) and I will keep an eye out for him down there, and then at least we can track him, and maybe keep him in sight until Rachel and Neil arrive - assuming we see him! Neil has a had a call from a young girl this morning to say that she saw a dog last night on her way home from guides, she said it was a bull dog, but her mum came on the phone and said that she thought it was a boxer not a bull dog, the girl is only young and really wanted to ring to tell us. I have made further enquiries about the landfill. It is not council owned and so therefore I cannot contact them other than to go up and visit. I also think that should he have found a bolt hole then it may be the quarry and no they will not see him during the day because he won't come out. However I do think he will be where there is not as much noise. I find it strange that nobody has seen him trying to catch or chase chickens or ducks etc because there are lots of people keeping them around the area of the windmill. I did notice on Tuesday morning when I drove past the houses on Hebden Road that something had tipped up all the dustbins. The bin men were out collecting and having to pick stuff up, it wasn't windy and items were strewn all over the road. I remain positive as I am sure we all do. I also think that most rescues will scan an animal these days. RSPCA policy is not to take strays and as long as you have contact with the police and keep in reg contact with Marina Boarding Kennels in Huddersfield and I think it's Fleet Lane Queensbury for the Bradford Stray Dogs, perhaps Sara knows where if not. Look forward to Friday. LxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all thank you for your lovely messages. Hi Doglady thank you for your advice, he went missing on the moors a few miles from where we have had possible sightings. Where he went missing is literally open moorland in which we searched and walked for a lot of hours the day he went missing and the day after he went missing. The area in which he has possibly been seen is directly off the moors and was easily achievable for him to have got to. We scented the area in which he originally went missing a number of times with no luck at all each time. We keep checking this area all the time and put food and treats down and scent it still and there is still a towel there of ours. Rach xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

georgie-boy, it would also be a good idea to look form where GEORGIE went missing if there is any wooded area that he may have gone into now you say that he was wearing a harness, may well have got caught up with this so I would look in the area with any of the places that are thick with hedges and that have a lot of busies and trees and anywhere that has any fencing. I can make Friday morning really early if we can all meet or alt very late Wed/Thurs/Friday nights and by that I mean going up to midnight. Rachel - if you want me to walk around with you one evening this week or early Friday let me know. I can either meet you there or you can come here and we'll go together. I understand that evenings and early mornings are the best time to find them when they're out and about (tied up on Weds & Thurs this week though). I'm also tied up during the day though. Lorraine - do you mean the Sugden End landfill, or is there another I'm not sure of? It it's Sugden End (the one just above the mini roundabout at Cross Roads) the chaps there are quite reasonable and it might be worth putting posters there anyway?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well thats good news because it means he is lurking about somewhere. The landfill is on the left about half a mile past the quarry, there is no sign to it but the vehicles are visible. Hi Lorraine, thank you so much for going out looking, its a great help, i think he is likely to be shy especially as he has been out for some time now. Where abouts is the landfill? is it past the quarry? we went to the quarry yesterday and gave them a poster and they said they will keep an eye out for us. The guy said that when he went back out he went with a lead and food and someone stopped him and asked if he was looking for a dog, he explained he was and was told that there was a lurcher in the process of being rescused by the RSPCA. He said it definitely wasnt the dog that he saw in the road. He says that when he first saw the dog he remembers thinking it was a lovely boxer dog, and then saw the poster, so hadnt made the connection before knowing Georgie was missing. He said he knows his dogs and it definitely was a boxer dog. thanks again xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a three hour drive and walk around the area of the windmill and beyond. Nothing A lurcher has app been found this weekend living around the quarry but they have had no sign of Georgie. If he is likely to be shy I suspect he will be more likely to stay low during the day and come out out night. I would have liked to have got as far as the landfill up above the quarry but couldn't get with my car. I suspect there is a lot of food up there and wondered if you had managed to get up to it with a poster? Is the man abs certain he saw a boxer or could it have been that lurcher that has been found. Keep trucking. LxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all worked out where the gentleman meant, unfortunately the guy didnt have any luck when he went back out, its strange as it is at the top of Brow Road where he was seen, where it crosses Hebden Road and goes up to Brow top Road which is where we were postering and leafleting on Saturday. I went back out today after work with my cousin and wandered about for a few hours around that area, but it was belting it down so if he is out there still he would have been sheltered someone out of the rain knowing Georgie!!! he aint daft!!! Fingers crossed he's seen again soon. If it was Georgie that is. Fingers crossed though!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm so sorry you haven't found your baby yet. I just wanted you to know that we are thinking about you and praying for you to be reunited. I lost my Boxer for a while so I know how awful it feels. Stay strong and keep looking. Remember when you do spot him that you will have to catch him, he probably won't come when you call him. Mine didn't and that was only after just a week of being lost. We are strong though and we will keep postering and getting the word out, the whole of the uk if we have to, we arent going to lose faith, our baby is coming home to us soon. So sorry there's no good news yet. You're doing all you can - and what a helpful newsagent! Fingers crossed still. Haven't been on site recently as one of my dogs had spinal surgery last week - doing fine but needs constant care. It's amazing how dogs can survive if they're out loose (there's always water and half finished takeaways to eat). Keep strong! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We did have a phone call this morning from a lady i had spoke to from a vets in Keighley to say her dad had found a boxer in Haworth Park this morning and she thought it might be Georgie, unfortunately when they took him to the vets it wasnt and he turned out to be red/tan and not brindle & white. It turned out to be a client of theirs dog and we were worried at first that the dog that had been sighted in the area might not have been Georgie and had been this dog but when the vets said his name i had remembered a gentleman we spoke to yesterday had seen who he thought was Georgie a couple of weeks ago near the war memorial and he actually said it wasnt this dog that had been found today (he said he is regularly running around) he mentioned the dog by name and thats where i recognised it from when they told me today, so fingers crossed the sightings were actually of my baby as i dread to think where he might be if it wasnt. But too many people have said it was definitely brindle & white and when people have been shown the picture of Georgie they have said it was definitely him. Fingers crossed xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all we have been out postering again this weekend and have put a large number of posters up, just about every lamp post we saw in Haworth. We are planning on widening our poster area this weekend. We did speak to a lovely lady at Haworth News who took around 400 of the small posters off us and said that she will put them in the Keighley News that she has the paperboys deliver each week as she delivers around 200 a week and will put what she has left from this week in next week. Such a fantastic lady, she has also put posters in her shop and cafe in Haworth and will keep her eyes peeled. She said she will have the paperboys look out also. The ad in the paper didnt bring much joy, hopefully one of the local papers will run a story for us as an appeal for Georgie's safe return.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So the other boxers must have been found then. My heart sank when i read the article. My baby is still alive and safe though i know it. Thanks though for keeping an eye out Lorraine. Don't be too despondent about lack of sightings. In two of the cases I've been involved with locally it's only when the dogs have been found that you talk to other people who did see the dog, in one case last week (Angus) a couple of people had spent a considerable amount of time trying to catch him ... before the Missing posters went up ... so the owners didn't get to hear about those incidents. Stay positive ... the more posters you have up and around the place the more likely someone will see him and call you - and the newpaper ad is a great idea too. Fingers crossed still!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There are posters in every pub and nearly every shop on Main st and surrounding areas so most of the village are aware of him now. Sorry we didnt call in susiewoo we only just read the message now. We did meet with Sara from the cattery in Crossroads and she gave us some more tips which was lovely of her. We are going to contact Keighley news and pay for an advert to be put in there, and also appeal to one of the editors for help with a possible story to get peoples attention. Fingers crossed. Thanks again everyone for your help and support it really does mean so much to us. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been in Haworth this weekend and have put even more posters up and have leafleted more areas, no more sightings though so the last one was Friday the 15th February on Sun street, i just cant believe we havent had any further sightings. It so makes me think that someone has picked him up. We are awaiting a response from Colne police as this area is close if Georgie went back on the moors. We stayed at the Sun Inn on saturday night so that we were around late in the evening and then early in the morning, but still nothing. We just dont know what else to do!!! If he has gone back on the moors we wouldnt have a lcue what area he may be in now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I live in Haworth and I wasn't aware of Georgie being missing until yesterday when I called at my mother-in-laws house in Crossroads and she had the flyer. I actually live at the bottom of Butt Lane at the side of the park and our drive adjoins the railway footbridge which is used regularly by locals and passing tourists. I have printed details off and will be putting them up at the bottom of our drive. If the owners are about tomorrow please feel free to call in for a coffee. Just wondered if they have visited Fleet Lane Kennels in Queensbury yet to check? Or Marina in Huddersfield. I can't stress enough to check the kennels in person. Good Luck in finding him very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Georgie Boy - really sorry to get your hopes up, but had to solve the mystery! I'm pleased to tell you that Angus was found at lunchtime today, so hope you won't get any more strange phone calls. Best of luck finding your boy. The Beckenham team really worked hard with the posters - the owners, Milly's Mum and Samson's Mum particularly. Everywhere you went in Beckenham you'd see posters. It's certainly worth getting masses printed and stuck up all over the place - it does work. Even when a local dog, Samson, was stolen, he was returned via the power of posters and a newspaper ad. Very best of luck - good idea about B&B, save your energy for postering!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello - it was me that phoned this morning (expecting to get Angus' owner on the phone). Only occurred to me when I got home that you may be missing a dog too, hence my third phone call! Dog ID=12634 is Angus who's missing in Beckenham. David's contact number is 07852 213 677 should you get any more calls, but I've update the Angus entry and the flyers will be amended. Good luck finding your boy - the fact that he's tagged, chipped and neutered gives you the best chance of finding him - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi just to update on what we have been up to this weekend. Been back to Haworth this weekend, put up a large number of posters and have posted around 200 leaflets through letterboxes in the area where he was last seen. Had a lady phone us on Saturday night to say that she received a leaflet and has seen him twice but couldnt catch him, the second time was Thursday morning at 8am on Sun street again in Haworth. She has said she will try calling him and hopefully get close enough to catch him next time. She has dogs herself and walks quite a lot in the area. We then went back out Sunday to deliver more leaflets and poster areas and again had 3 people tell us that they have seen him last week, the last sighting of him was either Friday or Thursday the gentleman i spoke to wasnt sure which, but was sniffing around the garage on Sun street and looked conufsed and dis-orientated he said. He had presumed that the owner wasnt far away as the walkway is a common walkway for dogs. We also spoke to the gentleman that we saw last weekend who told us about the sighting last sunday, he walks all over the area so is going to keep and eye out also. I then had a call from Woof walking services who have been fab and have said that she and her staff will keep and eye out whenever they are out walking and will let us know any information. She also said to keep her updated and let her know asap of sightings so that she can get someone to look in the area asap. Everyone has been fantastic that we have spoken to this weekend and now the leaflets are out hopefully we will have more sightings and my baby will be home safe soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live at Cross Roads, near Haworth and regularly travel between here and Hebden Bridge. I will go via Sun Street for the time being. It might be worth contacting the Worth Valley Railway (the steam trains), they are running this week as it is half term, and though they are unlikely to display a poster sadly, they will tell their staff. I will send a poster to the vets in Haworth (Gatehouse) and I've a couple of friends in Oxenhope and Haworth though none have dogs, I will pass on the poster. There are a lot of animal lovers on Haworth Main Street, and they may display posters for you in some of the shops etc. The Contact Point at Haworth is a good place to contact too, they cover some police services and other local services, and they will probably display a poster for you. Is Georgie likely to allow people to approach her?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I took my own dog with me in case the barking might bring Georgie out from wherever he may be hiding although I think as you say he may be lurking around Howarth or Oxenhope. Rachel & Neil, thanks for the very detailed update. You have had a very good success in getting the word out about Georgie and great you have been getting feedback already from the postering. The weather has been on your side and lots more people will be out walking as the weather picks up. Being half term there will be a lot more people out and about. Keep up the excellent work and it won't be long before your boy is back home. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi All, just an update as to what we have done this weekend. We went up to the area yesterday in which we lost him and scented the area, placed a towel of Georgie's and some food (dog biscuits, and some of his favourite treats, and some sardines), we went back up their as the sun was rising this morning and the food hadnt been touched so we know he hasnt been back to this area. We placed a number of posters along the walkways on the moors and also along roads leading to the moors. We then canvassed all the local villages and pubs etc and delivered about 200 leaflets (the small posters) in peoples letterboxes and large posters on noticeboards. We then went to a village called Haworth in which we visited the tourist information centre as this is the nearest one to the area, they said they would display a poster for us. While there we randomly spoke to a gentleman walking a dog and he told us that minutes before he had seen on boxer dog walking unaccompanied on Sun Street, we went to the area and there was no sign of him but we did discover that at the top of this street there is a gateless walk way that leads onto Oxenhope Moor. which is joined to Midgley Moor where he went missing. So this is a possible sighting of him as it is seconds off the moor. We are going to contact the dog warden for this area in the morning to see if he has been informed of any sightings and possibly keep an eye out for us. We also had a call from a lady this evening who received a leaflet through her letterbox today to say that she works for the local RSPCA and is also a member of the walking/rambling association and regularly walks her dogs on the moor and her husband is a greenkeeper of the local golf course so they are going to keep a look out also. She also told us that she had seen us walking Georgie the day he went missing and had recognised him from the leaflet. It was nice of her to contact us and she is going to pass Georgie's details to everyone she knows who may be able to help. Thank you again for the large posters and especially the smaller posters you did, the small ones with 3 on a page are the perfect size for pinning on walkway signposts. We will keep you updated as to any progress.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rachel & Neil, thanks for keeping us updated. Wishing you lots of luck this weekend and the weather is getting better now for that BBQ and for dog walkers. Hopefully someone has taken Georgie in and once the posters start getting to the right areas you will get the phonecall that everyone wants and he will be in the blue. Georgie's owner nice to finally speak to you. You are doing a brilliant job in your search and great that you are used to camping, so you can get your BBQ out now and start your camping early. Good luck and hope to see your lovely boy in the blue soon. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We had a call from the local dog warden on Monday regarding a sighting of Georgie on the Moors on Monday, the warden said that he was close enough to see it was Georgie as we had his harness still on, and close enought to see he didnt look injured but unfortunately couldnt get close enough to catch him. Georgie will have thought it was a game!!! We havent heard anything since and dont think they really like us phoning, we were told they would phone us if any more sightings. I just cant believe no-one else has seen him yet!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your kind messages and support. We havent been able to get back to Hebden Bridge since Sunday as my husband works away and i am working all this week. We ran out of ink on our printer on Saturday so werent able to print any off before going back up on Sunday morning. We have contacted all the people we need to regarding him being missing. We are intending on going up on Saturday/Sunday to look for him again and are going to place more posters around then.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners please take Jazzi's advice and make sure you contact and if possible visit in person ALL local stray dog kennels. Not All owners of chipped dogs are being contacted by some pounds so it is vital you dont rely on THEM to contact you if Georgie is taken in to there. Also keep chasing up police and make sure he has'nt been reported to them. Poster as much as you can for maximum public awareness. Come home soon Georgie xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
