Thankyou so much for all your messages of support. Sadly after the echo ran the story the only news we have is that the body of a dog matching Ben's description was found on the railway line about a mile from where we live. (The train driver said it was removed after two days.) We have been unable to confirm that it was Ben as Network rail, the Transport Police and Environmental health dept continue to tell us they have no record. We all miss him terribly and our son insists that he will come home soon. Please keep looking, just in case he is still out there. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's the Cheltenham Festival in 3 weeks time, there will be 1000s of people - Tote workers, bookies, ground staff, car park guys, caterers, racing people - descending on Cheltenham. Most of them rent houses, cottages etc in the locality. Stacks of leaflets should be prepared. Is the area Ben went missing anywhere near Presbury Park? Is there any news of what is being done on the ground to find Ben??Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ben is in the Gloucester Echo again yesterday so lets hope this throws some news of him up. Has anyone appeared near you with a new dog looking like Ben? His family really need him home and Max in particular misses him terribly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

HAVE YOU SEEN MY FRIEND BEN? Date : 29.01.08 An Eight-year-old boy is missing his beloved dog which was helping him to cope with his disability.Max Quinn suffers from cerebral palsy but from the age of two had Labrador-collie cross Ben as a constant chum and playmate. But last week Ben was spooked by noisy building work at his home in Hatherley and ran off. He hasn't been seen since. Max is pining for Ben. His mum Susanne said: "Last thing at night and first thing when he wakes up, Max asks if Benny has come home." Susanne, 39, and dad Gary, 42, bought Ben after a physiotherapist suggested it might help to get their son moving. She said: "We got Ben from a rescue centre when Max was two and within two weeks he had started to crawl around after him. "When Max was learning to walk Ben looked after him by standing behind him and he's always so gentle with him. He won't take anything from him, even if Max is offering him food, until I say it's okay. "They play out in the garden together and sit watching TV. Ben lies on Max and he jumps on him in the mornings to wake him up." A week ago, Ben ran way when a pipe burst during work at the Quinns' home to install a downstairs bathroom for Max. Susanne added: "He shot off and we haven't seen him since. We want him back. "We've put up posters and Max keeps asking everyone he sees whether they've seen Ben." Mr and Mrs Quinn are offering a ?50 reward for information which leads to Ben being found. n If you see or find Ben, contact the Echo on 01242 871832........copy of the article. Ben should be featured in the echo today. Despite posting over 150 posters, we still have no news on his where he is. Please keep looking, thanks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The word I was trying to write was d*leted, but the server won't allow me to write that! Well done for being so proactive, its important that nothing gets missed, and there is no substitute for checking personally. Well done for the press coverage ~ when will it go in the paper? Please let us know so that we can make sure that Ben goes back to the top of the page and is easy for people to find.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jazzi! Ben's owner I do think it will be well worth re-ringing all the people you have notified to tell them to look for a black lab x....................I have a "feeling" about this one, that Ben is sitting in a rescue kennel somewhere as people are looking out for a collie!! Please make sure you send every rescue kennel (Cheltenham, Teckels and anywhere else you can think of) an actual DL poster so that they have a physical picture of Ben.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have amended Bens details to say Labrador cross......there is no way anyone finding him would describe him as a collie cross.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry, Kingscote Road in Hatherley, Cheltenham. I have emailed the local paper today as they have featured my son a few times. I'm hoping they might run an article to find Ben. Thanks again to all those still looking.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please could you confirm if he went missing from Kingscote (?above Dursley - noted here on 24th) - or definitely from Cheltenham. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hhmmmmm he does look more like a lab, I thought that when I saw the pic. I am concerned that anyone finding him would describe him as a lab not a collie so it will be worth you re-iterating that point to the Dog Wardens and rescue kennels. You can send them an email of this posters so they can see Ben ~ this will make life easier!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes the postcode is the same, inter-route who manage the motorway have not found him. The ealier sightings now appear to be a different Collie, Ben looks more Lab. Just hope we get him back soon!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you everyone, and well done Ben's owners for registering on here. Thanks for the update. You will find a huge amount of support and practical help on here, so keep the updates coming to let everyone know where you are at and to avoid duplication. Postering is definately the way forward, and also the vets and of course the DW's/Police. Not a nice subject, but as he was so close to the M5 have you checked he has not bee knocked down and picked up by Highways? Would that be the same postcode or a different one? If a different one please let me know which one and we will alert helpers in that area. Lets hope for good news soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to everybody still looking. Ben was possibly seen on Badgeworth Lane on Tuesday at about 9 am. Then again on the M5 northbound just after junction 11. When the motorway team went to collect him, he was nowhere to be found so hopefully he may well still be quite near. Thanks again for all your support. By the way, he went missing from Kingscote.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've posted a link to Ben's page to a couple of racing forums since Cheltenham is racing on Saturday, and asked people going/staying there or living nearby to look out for him and to display posters in their cars [there will be massive traffic jams thru town [G]]Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner will be forwarding a photo to Admin tonight (hopefully!) and is keen to get their account activated. Ben lives with a little boy who desperately needs him home and is missing him terribly. Owners have been very active in the local area and undertand that Dog Losters will be keen to help them just as soon as a poster can be mailed out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
