Thanks everyone. Benji still weak, but happy. Has some damage to his teeth. Vet will check him out tomorrow. He is sleeping a lot and started eating very well. I think seeing my niece, aged 3 today has made him very happy indeed. Happy to stay on as helper. Contact me anytime.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately with terriers, no matter how good they are at recall, if they get a bee in their bonnet they are off. All you can do is be alert to possible distractions and try and keep one step ahead of the dogs thinking, lol. Just keep safe Benji, get mum to buy you a new id disc just in case and enjoy all the extra tlc your getting. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

BENJI FOUND!!! Thanks everyone. Benji was found this morning by a dog-loving district nurse all the way in St. Albans!! He was cowering under a great big four by four!!! and was quite hostile to her approach, but she perservered and took him to Hatfield police station who scanned him. He is pretty shook up, a wound to the head and really wobbly on his legs, checked with the vet and he said, lots of tlc, sugary water and keep him warm and he should be alright. I am so grateful to everyone who helped with moral support and especially to doglost who gave lots of really helpful advice, to the lady on the nicky line with two large dogs who told me about this website and to everyone who called with help and advice. It does matter!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry, don' know what number but he was running down Moreton end lane and went straight on to the Luton Road, last seen heading in to Harpenden and causing traffic to slow down, which is why I have convinced myself that someone picked him up. Great idea about whipsnade Zoo, not familiar witht the wildlife part on A5 but will find out. Thanks for your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

what is the number of the road Benji was last seen on and where was he heading towards? Will mail friends out that way. Has anyone sent posters to whipsnade zoo? staff can watch for him on their travels and maybe put one up for the public to see. Also the wildlife park on the A5? Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to everyone for continued advice and support. I am prepared to offer a reward to anyone who can return him safely to me, as I will be grateful to anyone who might be caring for him right now and keeping him safe. Please phone. I am so grateful to all dog lovers in Harpenden for their support and their continued committment to watch out for him. All dog wardens in the area, including Hemel, St Albans, Luton and Welwyn and Hatfield are looking for him too. It is hard to imagine anyone taking him out and him not being spotted!!! Benji, please come home, we love you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a nice chat with Benji's owner, offering some advice. The DW's in this area are fantastic and do scan - they also actively use this site so am pretty sure that if he's picked up by them he'll be back home immediately. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Any news back from the dog wardens? Great news he has been sighted-the area seems to have been posted so if someone has taken him in then they should make contact from the posters. In case they did not go via dog warden have you checked with the nearest police station and also find which is the nearest rescue he could have been taken to. They should scan for the chip but i would phone to be sure. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another call this morning. Benji was seen on Sat 29th running along the Luton Road, heading towards town. He caused some traffic chaos on the road as cars slowed down to avoid him. I have now contacted all the dog wardens in the surrounding areas. I am convinced someone picked him up and is taking care of him. Keep watching!!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to let you know I have had two calls. Both spotted Benji on Moreton end lane. The first saw him still on the Nickey Line, the second, was a house, he went into their drive. They tried to catch him but he ran off in the direction of the Luton Road where he turned left. This is a busy road. My sister and I are going down there now to look around and put up a few posters. Will keep you posted.............E mail from owner-bring on the sitings and get the posters up girl! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
