I listed ID137900 and believe he's gone home today - he was called Charlie.
I have e-mailed the Dog Warden that I was in touch with to double-check that this is the case, but have also sent them Wilbur's link, just in case . . .

Sarah - is there any chance you could send in Wilbur's chip number to stolen@doglost.co.uk please if you have it to hand. Would be good to have it on record so that we can double-check any other found similar spaniels - thank you

There is a blue roan boy for sale on www.donedeal.ie with a white bit on his head. Fur is longer so hard to tell but may be worth a look.

Is there any news on Wilbur been found yet?
Sarah
Thank you I also rang vet. Yes he is chipped and all been notified. The residence of village are aware, there are posters in the village shop and club house.
Thanks Sarah
csquaredb
Please ignore previous comment. Checked with vets and dog in Billingshurst is a chocolate roan and definitely not Wilbur.
Sarah, can you confirm please that Wilbur's chip details are up-to-date and that the chip company has been notified. Thanks x
csquaredb
Have Wilbur's chip details definitely been updated since his owners moved? Evidently a spaniel has been found in Billingshurst and taken to Pet Doctors. The dog is chipped. I'm not sure the colouring is right, but photos can be deceptive. There is a page dedicated to him now https://www.facebook.com/groups/1555398084532232/ where if you scroll down there is a map of Durrants Retirement Village and surround areas.
csquaredb
Doesn't appear to be any up-to-date google images of the retirement village. Are there any lakes or ponds near where he went missing and have these been checked? Are all the other residents of the village aware - maybe there's an email list for all residents?

Have just had a message from someone that lives on Young Street and owns a very similar looking dog to Wilbur. I have shown the dogs picture to both the people that saw the dog yesterday and they think that it could have been the local dog they saw. I've just spoken to Wilbur's owners, so they are aware. So sorry, but think in this instance, sighting was not Wilbur :(

Possible sighting of Wilbur this morning in Norbury Park, Leatherhead. This posted by a friend earlier:

*** Dog Running Loose *** at Young Street car park this morning (Monday 17th July). Grey marl Spaniel - very shy ran from the car park across the road in a Leatherhead direction. Fortunately, traffic stopped. Dog Warden alerted in case someone is missing it.

I've since spoken to her and showed her a picture of Wilbur and she thinks it could be, although dog was moving fast, so she didn't get a chance to see if the dog was wearing a collar. She did say that the dog looked well kept, and recently trimmed. Dog was very scared and running from everyone.
I have spoken to Wilbur's owner and suggested they contact Mole Valley Dog Warden. Will ask Admin to put out extra alerts near to where the dog was seen, on the off chance it might be. Fingers crossed.
Sarah
Thank you every body for your comments and advice. We have searched and put up posters. Have just added a £500 reward and putting up new posters. All help gratefully received.
Hollieberry
Have you checked under bushes & hedges also those of neighbours Spaniels are very prone to getting stuck & they will go silent even if they hear their name being called.
Dani
This poor dog has now been missing since Monday with no sightings. Can anyone walking their dogs search in that area please.

Admin
Sorry to see that WILBUR is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (117447)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
