Very saddened to read this news. What a beautiful girl ๐Ÿถ Such a lovely wee face. It is better to have closure than never know what happened to her. I'm sure she wouldn't have known much about it. Til you meet her again at rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ bridge โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Sad news ...

It is with great sadness that we must tell you that Tam Tam was found this afternoon washed up on a beach in Kirkcaldy by a lovely couple walking their own dog.
As we speculated, she must have drowned chasing a duck off the rocks at Dunbar.
9 wonderful years - so fit, so happy, so loved by all and such a affectionate wee dog in return.
Thank you to all our friends and the people of Dunbar who have supported us over the past 10 days.
Tam Tam ....... our little legend!

And also posted to Dunbar online by someone:
Curious - at the end of the cliff top walk, heading down the steps toward the first fairway at Winterfield - after the first set of steps, to the right there is a wide natural dip in the rock formation with lots of lovely pink flowers growing. Has anybody ever explored down in ther or know if there are any sink holes/ dens etc hidden by the vegetation? I pondered a while on my walk today & whilst it's nowhere near the water, the waves today made me think twice about venturing down - fierce seas. As it's the last general location Tam Tam was seen before vanishing, I just wondered if such explanation was worth a shout.
Skywalker99
From Tamu's FB page:
Back home in Edinburgh tonight - on the sofa with no Tam Tam sitting on my feet, the kitchen floor looks very grubby (no built in dog Hoover) and the house is so so quiet!!
Again we cannot thank everyone enough, especially all the people of Dunbar, for all the help, support, friendship and kindness that you have all shown us over the past 9 days.
With the aid of a very large bar of chocolate, which a friend kept feeding me, I managed to drive away from Dunbar this afternoon with a very heavy heart.
Tam Tam's bed will stay where it is for many months to come - who knows what the days and weeks will bring.
Please keep messaging/contacting us if you see any dog that looks like her and we will be there in a flash! I will post any news that we have.
Thank you everyone from all the Muir family

El and Al had a conversation with Christina from Epic Dog yesterday and got some pointers on setting up base etc and general approach. Really difficult to know what to do without any further sightings. It would be great to get any further suggestions about what we can do at this stage. We have one fairly convincing sighting and one less obvious one.

Epic Dog = The Dog Woman
Al Muir
Contacted Epic Dog again to update them on our possible sighting see if Christinas availability has changed re tracking or other help.

'bumped' means moved to the top of the lost list. Beautiful dog, hope you find her.

Alison, What does bumped mean in your comment below.

From El Muir -Still not found Tam Tam ๐Ÿ˜ข
Possible sighting on sandy beach between Dunbar Golf Club and harbour still sounds hopeful. Golden spaniel on its own who ran towards harbour when approached around 1 pm on Tuesday.
3 of us went down last night and scoured the golf course and surrounding woods with torches at midnight and 5am sunrise (slept in the cars ๐Ÿ˜ณ) but no sign.
I put some more fliers through doors, walked the streets this morning and checked in at Police station.
Sat on a bench above the harbour in the sunshine for 10 minutes and had a bit of a sob ๐Ÿ˜ข but then had to come back to Edinburgh exhausted.
Still looking, still trying!
Come on Tam Tam - help us a bit my wee girl!
AlisonH

Post from owner on Tam Tam Missing - Hi team Tamtam
Just to let you know we may have had a potential sighting of a similar looking dog to Tamtam on its own at the beach today at Dunbar Golf Club. We will zap down there early morning to meet the kind sighter but in the meantime if anyone in the area could keep their eyes open for her we'd be very grateful
Skywalker99
Nina, the dog woman is in Scotland and is unavailable. Not sure if these may have contacts https://www.uktrackingdog.co.uk
DogLostNina
I think it would be sensible to try and get local help with tracking. If you google Tracker Dogs Scotland you may find what you are looking for. Thanks jenny and Tiga for expalining
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Although we are happy to travel all over the UK to track if ลตe feel we can help, we need a bigger window of time to make the trip from Kent and at the moment work commitments don't allow that.
If that changes of course we will help.
We have tracked in Scotland before. Last edited: 2017-05-01 20:24:50 by Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Al Muir
I also approached K9 search and recovery Scotland but they only do humans but said we could post on their site, so I did.
Al Muir
None of them have the time to travel and The Dog Woman seems to be away.
Al, Corinna suggested that just in case we find someone you should find a small piece of something that really smells of Tam Tam (corner of a blanket etc) put in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer to ensure that we keep something with as strong a smell as possible of Tam.
Al Muir
We have contacted bK9 Tracking and K9 Tracker, Loki The Wolfdog, The dog woman, K9 search dogs.
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
Geoff - Al has confirmed chip contact details up to date, chip co aware & chip number entered on Doglost The phone numbers on her tag are also current
Al Muir
Yes K9 contacted. The only contact seemed to be in Kent and they couldn't help
Skywalker99
and assume you have contacted www.k9tracker.co.uk and your post below does not refer to k9 search diogs who are a different organisation?

As there have been no sightings there is a chance that she has been found but the finder has elected to contact the Dog Warden or local vet after the Bank Holiday (rather than notify the Police). Is Tam Tam's microchip registered AND details up to date?
DogLostGeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
Al Muir - photos have changed. If old ones still showing for you, try refreshing your screen (ctrl + F5).
Al Muir
Is there an admin person for the site, I seem unable to change the photos?
Al Muir
It's 26 miles away as the crow flies but there's major rail Ines and roads to traverse. To be honest we're not sure as she's never done this before. It was a relatively new walk for her. Yes others have suggested a dusk and dawn session. She's never shown interest in foxes or badgers but hey she's a working Spaniel. We've targeted the cliffs big time and I got a drone Pro in this am to survey the cliff tops that we couldn't reach ourselves. Cosdtguard notified etc.
DogLostJasper - Area Volunteer, Somerset
Would Tam Tam be able to find her way home from where she was lost or were you on a unfamiliar walk or just visiting the area? Have you tried going back to the area in the middle of the night as your voice and any noise will carry much better. Also go off the beaten track with the most powerful torch/spotlight you can get your hands on to look for any "eye shine"paying attention to any fences or other hazards.Any badger setts around there that may have interested her? Would the coastguard be able to help to perhaps view the cliffs from the sea. I'm sure you will have thought of these things already but just thought I'd mention them anyway.
Al Muir
We are desperately trying to find someone who could track Tam Tam but so far no one is available. K9 Trackers has said no and se has the Dogwoman. Does anyone have contacts or suggestions that might help us find someone who can help? As you can imagine we are getting pretty frightened that time really is against us and we don't know what to do next. We are planning of putting fliers through doors again tomorrow.
Al Muir
Yes thats done.
DogLostGeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
If not done so already, local radio (on air, website and/or Facebook page if they have one).
Al Muir
Ive contacted Christina, The Dogwoman, by email and text. Just waiting to here back. Also contacted K9 Trackers from the internet site and Facebook. Waiting on them as well. We have contacted Network Rail.

Any other suggestions?

REWARD FOR FINDING MISSING DOG
TAM TAM
Missing since Friday 28/4/17 around 10.15 am from west end of the Dunbar Cliff Walk near the tennis courts and Winterfield Golf Course
9 year old female Working Cocker Spaniel
Red/Golden coloured with a white face
Red collar with a tag and she is chipped too
Needs medication
Please call 07968 028773 or 07967 029631 or post on East Lothian Lost/Found Dogs Facebook or Dunbar Online
Or phone Police on 101
Thank you - please help us find our wee girl - the whole family is distraught!
Mandy
Is it possible that a walker may have found her and handed into a different area police station. If at all possible maybe get someone to physically go into the police stations and ask at the front desks as there seem to be a disconnect between 101 and the actual police stations recently
Al Muir
Is it odd, given how many people that we've spoken to and how many posters that we've put up and handed out that she hasn't been spotted at all?
Al Muir
Thank you Geoff. Will follow up on these points.
DogLostGeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
Is Tam Tam likely to have followed any walkers on the John Muir Way and got disorientated? Could a walker maybe have taken her home and not reported her as found? Perhaps poster further afield to cover that possibility, especially any car park / picnic areas.
Are staff at the Golf Club aware?
I see there is a railway line close by - have Network Rail been contacted in case she has been seen on the track?
Has undergrowth been checked in case she has become caught up on her collar?Last edited: 2017-04-29 22:11:32 by GeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
Al Muir
Found someone to take a look at the cliffs with a drone so it at least thats something that can be done tomorrow. Thank you for your help with this Jasper.
By tomorrow morning at 10am it will be 48hours since we last saw her. Is there anything else we should be doing at this point other than being present where she was last seen and talking to people? We've distributed a large number of posters. We're leaving a bed and things that smell of home out at night. What else can we do? Thank you.

Christina Cass at Epicdog (http://www.thedogwoman.co.uk/contact) has helped with missing dogs in Scotland using a tracker dog. The website also includes a very comprehensive Lost Dog Advice section.

http://findadronepro.com  You could try this. The guy who runs this site is called Henry and is very helpful. He has a lot of contacts. Good luck with your search and sorry I'm not closer.
Al Muir
Perhaps this is a bit crazy but have you seen or heard of sniffer dogs used in this situation?

Al Muir
Looking for someone in the area with a drone to check the cliffs. Any idea how to find one?
