Welcome home lovely 😊

Great news Will'saunt. Yes, this breed is remarkably resilient.
You'd think the cold weather would have killed off the fleas if he has been sleeping outdoors so maybe he has been sharing someone's hole....
Welcome back Will :)

WILL IS HOME AGAIN!
He was picked up in Rackham Woods by someone who lives up there who heard him howling at around 11pm . He's in good condition remarkably clean but covered in fleas! A big thank you to all those who helped with the search and posted such encouraging and helpful suggestions .6 days and nights missing just goes to show how remarkable and resilient these little dogs are and that one should never give up hope!

This comment was put on Paw post...........Will,s aunt PKEASE note...you may have to report as possible stolen..............

Just received this msg from member of Storrington page copied from Storrington pageKim Hiller Julie-Ann Fraser I messaged the head nurse at crossways vet group. She has told me that her mother walks her dogs around Rackham woods and has been keeping an eye out for the dog. She saw a suspicious character in a blacked out silver, what she thinks is a Subaru legacy estate on Saturday who tried to call her 2 dogs to him to which they ignored him. She was a bit shaken. We are just praying that this dog hasn't been stolen. Can you pass this on please ? My friend has messaged Wills owner direct. Thank you
Jack
I've walked this area at Wiggonholt today, from the RSPB car park, along the path to the church, then left at the path near the church and across 2 fields towards the brooks / river, then back again. Also the path behind the church and wall. We met Claudia whilst there. No sightings I'm afraid. Mentioned to all other walkers we saw so more people will be looking out. There are other paths nearby within the RSPB reserve where I couldn't go as no dogs allowed but these were well used by birdwatchers. We also walked the bridleway across Wiggonholt commom towards Parham and back. Will keep spreading the word and hope for a sighting soon xx

Willsaunt......,.wherebthe growling was heard...is it accessible to Horse riders......they are high up and can look down....,if Will is stuck somewhere that may be why he was growling...,he could be stuck in a ditch or an old hole or well....anything is possible.......oh god I hope he is found soon......
Jack
Just a thought and you may have already done this.... but if Will is no longer down in the setts and could be in the wider vicinity, would be worth contacting the RSPB reserve and Parham estate? Posters in those places if not already? Just seen your update below which popped up as I was typing this. I will walk Jas at Wiggonholt today. Everything crossed XxLast edited: 2017-01-01 10:00:57 by Jack

At about 7pm last night after we returned from tramping about Rackham we got a cal from a lady who had been walking her dog near Wigginholt Church her dog seemed very interested in something in a dense thicket on the edge of the path on the other side of a mesh fence she heard a low growling a was positive that it was a dog,her dog was quite excited and stuck his head through the fence and growled back. She looked but couldn't see where the growl was coming from. Anyway to cut to the chase she phoned a friend who is a dog behaviourist to ask if there were any local dogs missing and then contacted us we went up there but it no sign of Will however it's the first bit of positive news so please could everyone in the Wigginholt area look out for him it's not far from where he was lost so fingers crossed !

If anyone needs the Fell & Moorland their number for rescues is down as 01606 550005. There is also contact number for Dorset & Hampshire rep Mr. Sealy, which I assume is nearest area to where Will is 07867415869. Hope this is some help

We took Mole today and the hosepipes which we left by the big holes Jack marked we worked the bank all around that area Mole went into several otherholes but was most interested and yipped a bit in the big one, definitely badgers in there as I could hear a few very low grunts we also investigated 2 probably connected fox holes further along the bank but no sounds of Will . The bank they went up is directly below the large holes that we all seem to agree is the most likely one Will went into I think Claudia is speaking to Jenny this afternoon .
Jack
I walked around again this morning, late morning from around 1100 - 1300. Walked all around same area as yesterday. I saw hosepipe left by the large entrance I described yesterday so guess you've tried investigating that area further. I also walked all around the other side and higher area on the road and car park side but nothing to report I'm afraid. Several other dog walkers around today, all aware. Hoping you get some more positive news soon xx
Doglover
Good luck Will,s Aunt xx
Will'saunt
Hi Jack and Jenny and every else for your incredibly kind help,Claudia and I are going up again with more hosepipe and I'm brining Mole wWills brother let you how we get on
Jack
Hi Jenny, I didnt see any signs of a dog I'm afraid but the area looked 'active' in that quite a bit of excavated sand at entrance that looked fairly fresh to me, I'm no expert though. I walked from car park round the lower outer track to the Pulborough brooks side, beyond the wooden bench. Met 2 other separate local dog walkers by this bench who had been looking but no luck. I continued along lower track. The first place my dog showed interest was by the roots of a large fallen tree further along this track on the righthand side. The bank here is high and steep. I walked on and round to right then up to the top area. Sat on bench at top and listened for a while. From this bench I walked back to the right a few metres then scrambled down amongst the trees, following back to the left. This is where my dog showed interest in large badger sett. She had ignored 2 previous entrances in the vicinity. Quite a lot of entrances all over this area. I left a stick propped up by entrance. I climbed back up to top and left a branch and log to mark the point from the track at the top. I went back down and continued scrambling across the bank until back to the area where the bench is at the bottom, where I climbed down. From here I walked again along the lower track to where my dog had first been interested. We scrambled up near this point (tricky!) As wanted to see if same vicinity as the badger sett entrance higher up. It is in the same area, I think what could be a large network. The only other place she showed an interest was another entrance with a beer can inside.... sorry we don't have anything more positive to report. I also left a beanch at the side of lower track to mark the point. I could cone back tomorrow morning if ut would help xx
Doglover
Have asked on post in Facebook if there is anyone nearby that could possibly telephone owner and offer help in scrambling up the bank....
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Skywalker99 - yes I did.
Jack - I gather it was up a big bank as owner can't scramble up it. Are there any signs of a dog ie the brother Jack Russell at any of the entrances?
Be careful badger setts are protected.
Mary
Will'saunt If you contacted a drain blockage clearance company they may be able to check the sett with their cameras. An exhausted or injured Will may only respond to his owner's voice or a familiar bark.
Skywalker99
Doglover, that fell and moorland Facebook page is an automatically generated one so will not be monitored....i am sure Jenny has already suggested contacting the local hunts to if they have a terrier man...but just in case.

Advice has been sent. Thanks for going out there Jackie. I will hopefully be able to get there tomorrow, fingers crossed that Will is located before then x
Jack
I am there now. My dog has shown interest in 2 places, one is a v large badger sett near top of big bank. Haven't seen or heard anything yet xx
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
Owner has been in touch with me just now and it sounds to me as if Will is more likely than not down a badger sett. Both dogs were visiting so not familiar with the area. They both ran off up to a badger sett and one dog came back covered in sand and with a cut on nose. The other did not come back.
They have been back to this area again and the dog that returned showed interest in this sett.
I also learnt that the microchip details are not up to date as owner moved about a year ago and didn't update, so all local kennels, vets need to be regularly contacted. At this stage owner cannot amend details as she does not have the microchip number.
I have suggested doing various things as suggested below but owner is unable to clamber up the bank - are there any local volunteers that can offer any help.
Doglover
I have sent a message to Jenny Tiga Brown who is K9 tracker as she will pick them up much quicker....and asked her for suggestions or help for you. x
Doglover
Will,s aunt.....Skywalker has it right Fell and Moorland and they are on the internet and facebook so that is how you contact them....K9tracker is also on facebook..Jenny Tiga Brown I will tag her into my post and as for Badger Sets...would that be under Environment at local Council offices??? Just a thought.
Mary
Will'saunt. If you take a piece of hosepipe to put down holes to call and listen, that might help you locate Will.
Skywalker99
Try contacting www.k9tracker.co.uk. I think there is also an organisation called fell and moorland who may be able to advise?
Will'saunt
That sounds great I have been in touch with someone called Luke who is over in East Meon in Hampshire who might bring his dog out but there are quite a few entrance holes I don't think there are any old wells so a team of terriers would be great do you know how I can get in touch with them also I think that many badger sets have been mapped but not sure of how I get that info .
Doglover
There is a Border Terrier search team that can check all rabbit holes and badger sets...I am sure he must be stuck down one of these .....or are there any old wells, old clay pipes that he could have fallen down in the Woods. X

We will be out searching again at Rackham Woods in morning Will was with me on a walk when he shot off with my Jack Russel his brother and was last see running up a steep bank on the Wildbrooks side of the wood and then they just disappeared Mole cam back to me after about an hour there are quite a few badger holes in the bank and on top of what's called the .Knowle. Will is my sisters dog and was visiting so although he has walked there before he doesn't know the area that well I live in Amberley so am fairly familiar with the woods but didn't realise ther was such an extensive set or sets just there.

Sorry to see Will is missing. Hope he's found safe very soon. Is this an area known to you and Will, was he lost on a walk? If you live locally, might he try to get home? I am fairly local and can come to help search tomorrow morning if still missing. Would you be able to explain roughly where he went missing, directions from the car park area?
Doglover
Sorry to see that Will is missing and I agree with michs1980...you need to check rabbit holes and badger sets....I hope he is found soon I have shared to Paw helping dogs I need.
michs1980
:( I'm sure you are, but please do check in rabbit/fox holes for him. Also if you leave something (worn clothes) with your scent in the area then, if he finds them, he will likely stay put. Hoping he's found quickly and safely.
