I'm so very sorry to hear this sad news about dear Archie. Such a sweet looking boy with THE most expressive and beautiful eyes. Shame on the driver who didn't stop. May that horrible deed be 'repaid' 100-fold. But thank goodness for the caring and kind person who stopped to try to help Archie. Whoever you are, thank you for your compassion and kindness. And, yes, I totally agree that these poor rescued dogs do need exceptional care and I can't help but wonder whether the kind and well-meaning people who rescue them really emphasis how important their after care is i.e a strong and wide fleece-lined harness (my young Rottie wears a Perfect Fit harness available from Dog Games) as well as a sturdy, close (but not tight) well-fitting collar. And then finally, a good quality training lead that can be clipped to both harness, collar or head collar. I am so sorry for Archie's owners who so wanted to give little Archie a happy and caring new home. As we have 2 dogs and live on a relatively busy road, we also 'operate' a fail-safe system at home: baby gate across the kitchen door and a safe front garden with fencing and a wall and a sturdy wrought iron gate that remains closed at all times. Rest in peace Archie - sweet dreams handsome boy xx

God bless and keep you safe from harm wee boy. I am heartbroken and so very sad not only for Archie and what he has suffered, but for all the other rescue dogs brought into this country, supposedly to a new loving home only to lose their lives very soon after they get here. These dogs need exceptional specialist care, yet nearly every week another foreign rescue dog is on the run and never found or is killed . Why don't people take the advice they are given in this situation and follow it? Archie is dead and so are lots of other poor sweet dogs, after fleeing in terror and ending their lives like this.
It is beyond any sad words. It just goes on and on and on.Last edited: 2016-11-25 21:24:32 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Sad update from Please Help FIND Archie this morning:

"Morning everyone.....Its with a heavy heart this morning that i have to tell you all that last night Archie was hit by a car at Rafford, 11 miles from his last sighting and he has unfortunately passed away with Violet & Alan by his side. The driver of the car did not stop, but another passing motorist, female, did stop and took him to the vets in Fores. As you can imagine, Violet & Alan are devastated this morning and need some time to come to terms with this tragedy, but i am sure that like us all will want to extend our sympathy to them both. There will be a further update later on. RIP Archie, run free over the rainbow bridge"

Seen a "collie" seen visitor post on Munlochy Animal Aid Fb page posted yesterday 23/11/16 https://www.facebook.com/MunlochyAnimalAid/

Hi there. I was driving back to Cromarty tonight along the A832 and by learnie car park at about 8.30pm I came across a collie running at a fast pace towards me. I stopped and tried to catch the dog but it gave me and the car a wide birth and then carried on running. Dog looked well trained and I think had some blue Merle to him/her, although it was dark. I stopped at nearest house/farm and they didn't have a collie. Not seen any lost collie posts but thought I'd share this info."

Have called the contact number to check the location and postcode but had to leave a message.

Have queried location with Admin and email address - I believe location lost should be Jamieson Place NOT Park, and postcode should be IV30 NOT EH51.
