Friends of the Animals
it was decided in consultation with Mark to bring Amy back to Wales so I collected her earlier. She is fine and has settled back here already. I cannot thank everyone involved enough. Amazing support. A very special thank you to Karen and her daughter who managed to catch Amy this morning and Louise who kept her safe until I got there. She will now have some time to recover and I am sure she will be fine. Thank you. Eileen Rescue Coordinator.

Thanks for the update Svend. No doubt everyone is greatly relieved. I know I am :)

Have a lovely life in your new home Amy. It may take a while to enjoy all a proper life has to offer and it's all going to be very different to begin with but you'll get there in the end x
Svend
I understand from FOA RCT that she's been caught. Excellent news.Last edited: 2016-11-11 10:36:59 by Svend

It would be interesting and probably helpful if the fosterer that previously looked after Amy could give some input regarding her level of fear and how she may react to certain situations. Would that be possible?

Also, if Amy liked the dog she was fostered with for 8 weeks, could a pee soaked cloth with that dog's urine on it be posted in a sealed container from Caerphilly? This could then be dragged back towards her home - away from the railway line. If nothing else, to pick up the scent of a dog familiar to her may help her anxiety levels to reduce.

I hope this little lass can be located soon. Ex PF dogs are not renowned for their hunting abilities and if the weather turns bitterly cold she may become hypothermic quicker than if she had a full belly. Has any food been taken at Dean Farm?
Sammie
JK good offer of help but would need you on your own if it comes to a search. But a search can also drive the dog away and she were to continue in the same line as she did today, she would reach a train line. So all searching would just be to know where she is and keep her in that area, safe with a feeding station for her to return to. Haven't grasped her level of nervousness though as in the photo she looks to be on the back of a sofa. So to me and you thats probably just worried/nervous, not on the scale of Precious and Pixie that you had!

Thanks JK for the offer, as Jenny4 says it is really good to have support locally from someone who knows the difficulties with puppy farm dogs. Another tip from an experienced foster person is not to use torches so no searching in the dark. We really need Amy to settle in an area she feels safe.
Unknown
JK not sure if there will be a search party or not as things must be kept quiet .Please do not walk your dogs to look for her as she is not too keen on other dogs that we are aware of .I am sure Mark will text you when he has read this,Very kind of you to offer you can understand , owning ex puppy farming dogs how difficult it is and everything must be taken very slowly.Great to know there is back up though Thank you x
JK
Mark, is there going to be a search party out tomorrow as if you need help I am offering to search. I foster ex puppy farming dogs so am aware of their fear. I have four dogs that I would bring with me so hopefully that would encourage her to come forward as they are all used to fearful dogs. I lost my dog two years ago today so I am well aware how you must be feeling. Please let me know if I can help. Text or call 07811 109283Last edited: 2016-11-09 19:51:21 by JK

Please can everyone keep their eyes peeled, but please DON'T CALL or CHASE her, just phone in with the sighting details. It is essential that she is permitted to settle in one place, to enable the necessary steps to catch her. She could still be in the Dean Farm area, or she could equally be making her way back to Whiteparish, or elsewhere.
Rachael
We know she spent the night in Meadow Court, Whiteparish in a garage but fled when the home owners tried to catch her this morning. She is now at Dean Hill Farm, Dean Hill Ridge. Mark has had to go to work so the farmer is aware that she maybe coming back for food.
This is the area Mark has been around this morning: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1BEJcoBtecgDWplN7Qk0pYTvbH7M&ll=51.02684755809458%2C-1.6646862000000055&z=14

Hi! Marke did Amy have any Doggy friends that could go and help perhaps also her ex fosterer or maybe another Dog you have at home? We did this in Swindon for PRALINE ( & I know has work for many Lost terrified Dogs) A Feeding area was set up where she had been seen to keep her in the area and once the fosterer & her pack were there she was caught, all situations are different but also have many similarities so may help for Amy. AND Dogs do go 'home' even after a few hours, its their only point of reference so look out for her, leave food and an open door.Good luck ! xLast edited: 2016-11-09 10:56:13 by Reynard

Mark, it's a bit late tonight, but please make sure there is food and water, and some shelter/bedding available in the garden/porch/shed for Amy, just in case she does come home of her own accord.
Svend
FOA, Amy's chip is already entered - it isn't visible to viewers for security reasons, but will link to the Scanner Angel database etc, and is visible to Admins. For the same security reasons I've deleted the number from your last post.Last edited: 2016-11-09 00:22:22 by Svend

Guys could you please add Amy's chip no ***********. She is still registered in my name at FOARCTLast edited: 2016-11-09 00:16:58 by Svend

Hi Mark. I have a puppy farm dog and also suspect that she hasn't ventured far but has tucked herself away somewhere in the surrounding area.
How is her appetite? The smell of a BBQ at first light might bring her out of her hiding place. If you decide to try this, and should she make an appearance, gently throw bits of food towards her letting them land closer and closer until you gain her confidence.
The other thing that would encourage my own PF dog would be the sound of a squeaky toy but I suspect the joys of play haven't yet been fully discovered by little Amy?
Svend
Thanks Mark. I presume you're in the village? I suggest you print some copies of the doglost poster and deliver to your near neighbours, and post a little more widely - bus stop, pubs, garden center, etc.. You may find this video informative, too: http://www.poochandclaws.com/how-to-catch-a-skittish-or-shy-dog-video/

Hi Svend, she has been with me only four days and so has no idea of the surrounding area, so is very unlikely to return home spontaneously sadly. We are surrounded by fields, so I am hopeful she will have gone to ground somewhere nearby & someone will discover her in the morning when they go out in to yard/farm/field etc.

In reply to the various questions:
• Wiltshire Council, Test Valley DC & New Forest DC were informed ~18:00 this evening
• Local Neighbourhood Policing Team have been informed and passed a pic + chip details
• I have posted her loss on Gumtree & Animal Search UK
• Her pic & details have been circulated by email and whatsapp locally
• The rescue have posted her on facebook, as well as the postings derived from here
• I will put up a poster in the village shop tomorrow
• I will contact the vets in Romsey & Salisbury tomorrow (she went missing at the end of the working day sadly)
• She had been with a foster family in Caerphilly for 8 weeks, so it is unlikely they would be able to bring their dog the 105 miles to attempt to lay a scent trail
• Its only two working days since the transfer forms were completed, so the chip is likely to come back to the Friends of the Animals rescue still. I do not have the details of the company the chip is registered with but am sure Rachel will have sorted notifying them.

Please do contact me, Rachel from the rescue (07967 977 117) or the rescue office (01443 800339) if you do spot her.
Thanks for your help
Mark
Svend
Mark, how long has Amy been with you? Sammie's questions are important too.
Sammie
I've never heard of RCT? but just looked up their forum and not even anything listed on the Pets lost / found section. When was she adopted, straight from kennels or a foster home? If so cannot someone bring a dog to the area that she is familiar with to lay some scent? Or with a person she might trust. The best will in the world even if there are DL volunteers in the area if she is that scared she is unlikely to go to any of them.
Have the rescue given advice to the adopter what to do to try and recatch her?
Have the rescue transfered the chip details to adopter yet? If not have they notified the chip company she is missing?Last edited: 2016-11-08 22:32:18 by Sammie
Maggie
Svend - thank you for adding our number. We are remote from the location but very concerned and will do as much as we can to help. I'm sure our wonderful Dog Lost community in the area will help.
Stay safe tonight little Amy.
Maggie
My mistake. Amy has actually been adopted, I thought she was on foster.

FOA RCT...what does this mean please?
Maggie
Dog Lost Admin - is it possible to add the FOA RCT phone number to the details.
We could do with as much help as possible to spot this poor girl. Unfortunately this is out of area for many of our volunteers.
So worried about this girl, as an ex breeding bitch she will be absolutely terrified to be out in the dark and cold.
Maggie
Amy is an ex-puppy farm breeding bitch and will be very frightened. If you spot her please immediately phone either the number on this page or 01443800339 - this is the phone number for Friends of the Animals RCT. Amy is one of Friends of the Animals RCT dogs, currently on foster. If you try to approach her she will run.

I've given the heads up to the Test Valley warden as its very close to the Hants boarder. But as it is Wilts you can phone 101 WILTS police and log with them.
