owners have been down frequently. Last night they rushed to maidstone after a call from a young girl who had seen a small dog similar colours loose in Matalans car park- near the river. This could be possible as if sophie followed the river bank along towards maidstone it is not that far- in fact last week we walked just under half of that distance in no time at all. ANY ONE IN MAIDSTONE- maybe poster the following areas just incase. maidstone bridge area- shopping arcade with Matalans-near the law courts market agriculture hall along to the market area. Up along the tow path towards Whatmans Park- maybe even into watmans park as a lot of areas here for a dog to lay low. I have about 50 A5 flyers left so pm me address i can post ASAP. Have heard back from Barming school who are willing to hand out flyers to every pupil- that will be 200. Still waiting for east farliegh village school to respond. As a large number requried getting them printed at local bison printers who are running off 500 for ?62- cheaper than a new set of ink cartridges!! CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Made this area my sunday morning dog walk covered Barming side of the bridge in both directions mainly to spread the word and suss out the area. Its really a lot of scrub land and trees long grass etc with a very small path running alongside the river. on the other side( the side she went from) there is more wooded areas but also the camping areas running towards the river from the farmers fields. All we need is a positive sighting to know the area and which side of the river she is in. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Best to watch from a distance. Any one trying to approach has got to be careful. No sudden movements -speak low and softley to gain her trust. use dog body language- avoid eye contact- and if close get down to her level. helpful to have some smelly tempting food on you. if near enough leave food down - and back off. She needs to feel secure. ONLY if she seems calm and only then you can try to get closer- but SLOWLY. if she runs- stop- back off and NEVER give chase. Any one out hunting take the owners mobile or pm me for mine- im fairly close and as long as OH is around can be there in less than 10 mins. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks, everyone. If Sophie was chased by a cat then she really is as nervous as the owner has said. CJ, could you please advise anyone looking for her on how they should deal with this issue. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sighting yesterday around farliegh lane-She was being chased by a cat- but the people did not try to catch her so she is fairly local to where she went missing but if sighting was here then she has crossed the river over one of 3 bridges in that area.(Owner has gone over again today to look out for her and will also go out on the evening when the rubbish is put out for Bin collection CJ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ok back from the Teston picnic park which is accross the river from side she went missing. have put posters up in car park- by the pay and dispaly machine and by the loos. I stopped to speak to the fishermen showing them a picture plus leave them with a doglost card and put owners details on the back. A local ramblers association was meeting up so also took details. We left park and heading across teston bridge along towards the area missing. Put one up in the car park of 'the good intent' pub as has a play area used by locals. Spotted owners posters- done and put up beofre ours went on site. Followed road done towards st helens lane to camp site area- posters all along route plus back on Lower road. A bit too far away for most of the medway crew- unless they are going that way over the bank holiday! This dog is lost at East farliegh which is the teston Wateringbury side of maidstone some 10-15 miles away from the medway lot. I will be posting the Teston picnic spot- big car park and a poular place for dog walks- along by the River medway. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

EXTRA HELP NEEDED PLEASE. LOST ON HOLIDAY. As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Sophie well. Stay safe Sophie, until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
