Thank you for the updates Clarkey I realised that this poor dog would need someone who knows what they are doing to outsmart this one. I am so pleased that people are aware and trying to help.

Thanks TK and to whoever reported this new sighting. Just to say that our Dog Wardens are aware of this Collie and it's thought that he's likely to be a farm dog local to the area. However, we still need a photo when someone can get one please.
Also if anyone does catch him then please report finding him to the Dog Wardens straight away so he can be collected by them .. even if there's a contact number on his tag as he is obviously not being cared for properly. The Dog Wardens will then return him to the owner and have a good talk to them about his condition and how he is allowed to roam all the time, both in the woods and on the roads. I would not usually say this but in this instance I think you will all agree that it is very important that he is not handed directly back to his owners before being taken to the Dog Wardens. Let's hope this dog goes to someone or somewhere that he can be caught very soon.

This boy has been sighted today, have just seen this post on Icklesham fb page. Am going to message to see if they can give an approx time of sighting ...

" Saw a very skinny and nervous black and white sort of collie sized dog down workhouse/windmill lane today. Tried to call it over but it ran away into cock wood. Does anyone know who he belongs to? "

They say they saw him 3.45pm , " tried to get a photo, but he ran away "

The lady that posted last Thursday afternoon that she had seen him heading up Watermill Lane towards A259, has also posted the following comment..

"He was down watermill lane past the first house back of robin hood field entrance into the field opposite he followed me up to a259 i tried to catch him but it was a no go, he then went back down watermill lane he has a green collar on and is very dirty i havent called the dog warden but will tomorrow xxx "

These sightings would fit in with him not being seen in Guestling Woods since Thursday. He must be further up near Icklesham. I do hope he stays safe, such a busy road the A259. There was a huge Firework Display Saturday Evening at the Robin Hood in Icklesham, would of been very loud, maybe this has spooked him a bit ?

I have posted this DogLost link to the posts on the Icklesham fb page and have asked if anyone has any further sightings or info to please post on here. Although I will keep an eye on the page in case of any further comments. Last edited: 2016-11-07 19:53:56 by TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex

Had a good walk round the woods this morning from main car park. No sighting, however on leaving I called in at the caravan site opposite wood and spoke to owners. Apparently he has been a regular visitor to the site, older mainly black long coated with some white markings. Wanders in has a mooch around and then leaves. They assumed he was a local dog but always ran away when approached. Unfortunately they will be shutting up for the winter in the next few days but will try and get photo if he turns up before then.

Thanks Ebruf and Hollieberry. I met up with the person who saw this dog yesterday, her husband, TK and Springermad this morning and we went through the woods to see where this collie had been seen. We met more than 5 people who had also seen him. He is said to be a black collie with some white on him and there are reports of him being in the area for many months if not longer. Most people say that he looks like a farm dog. He's been seen in the woods, in the fields by the church and in Watermill Lane. One person says that she and her friend have been leaving food along the paths for the dog (tinned food etc) and that he does not look particularly thin and this is probably why.
Two walkers we met said that he had tagged along with them and their dogs on their walks in the last few days but does not allow anyone to get near or touch him. He also followed them to the car park and stayed their whilst other dogs were around then went back along the woodland path. This was during the day yesterday and we have had another report of him being on Watermill Lane nr Scrags Farm going towards the main A259 road.
We asked in the Robin Hood pub if anyone was aware of a dog missing in the area or of the dog in the woods but only one person had heard of him being there.
So either he is living in the woods or is local and going to the woods frequently because he knows there is lots of food being put down there and because he enjoys the company of the other dogs.
If anyone sees him please would you TAKE A PHOTO of him so we can put it on this page.
Unfortunately as people have already shared from this page any photo added will not appear on any Fbk posts as only the original photo (or Doglost awaiting photo) post will show.
As this Collie has been around for so long he is obviously surviving well but it would be good to find out if he is actually living there or not. If we can find that out or where he is sleeping we may be able to set up a feeding station.
Please may I ask that you do not try to catch him unless he actually comes up to you (which is unlikely) as he always runs off when this happens.
We will all be on the lookout for him and try to take a photo when he is seen.
Thanks to everyone for helping and being concerned about the Collie.

The sighter and myself are returning in the morning to see if we can locate him.

Another sighting of this dog this morning in the same location. Posted on Facebook. I took a walk there this afternoon but no sighting. Facebook poster said it was wearing a green collar but was unable to catch it.
