Great news. As neuterd he probably wasn`t too far away. It is treu that cats cant see well in complete darkness but are better able to see in semi darkness. They are long sighted. Cats will follow their own scent. Stay close now Raffles:-)

Call raffles late and night and very early morning when less background noise...cats don't see very well and can easily get lost.

Shd = short haired domestic, although I've usually heard it described as dsh.

Advise given to walk the dog and see if he can sniff the cat out as JRT have excellent noses and also to put something of the cats on the washing line so the cat can pick the scent up, litter tray outside and also look during evening hours as cats are nocturnal xxxx
