I watched the video and was quite shocked that something so inocuous looking and so hidden was so deep and danferous and easily eaccesible. It either needs to be dug out and widened or covered over completely imo.

There has been an amazing response to this petition, with over a thousand signatures in two days. I don't know if anyone else is monitoring the comments but other locals have come forward to note their own tragedies or near tragedies at this location.

There is a video of the recovery of Luna by the CBC. Her owners have given permission to use it in a petition to the Environment Agency, in an effort to prevent any further dogs (or even children) meeting the same fate. The area is fenced, but not adequately & allows dogs to go under & through.

It is such a heartbreaking end. The river in the area looks fairly tame in places & is barely flowing, but there are hidden sections where it goes underground & the pull is obviously strong there. The whole area is hidden by overgrown grass. I am going to contact the environment agency & anyone else who is responsible for the area, to see if we can get warning signs/more secure fencing here. it will not bring Luna back, or I suspect a couple of other missing dogs, but it may prevent further heartache for other owners.

My sincere condolences to Caley & James for the loss of their beautiful girl.

Have just heard from Max that sadly this little lady has been found in the river at Bissoe this morning and has passed over Rainbow bridge. R.I.P little one.

Have added details on behalf of owner Caley Cooper.
The dog went missing on a walk on the bissoe trail near to the cement works at Devoran. It is feared she could have gone into the river, as she would normally come back when called. She was playing in the grass & then a very short time later could not be seen. There are sections of the river which are hidden by undergowth & it goes underground & at these points it can have strong undercurrents. Mark Thomas ( our man with drone & part of Carbis Bay Crew) went down there tonight with strong lighting to assist, but found nothing, so tomorrow morning he & some crew members are going to take breathing apparatus & see if they can safely explore the underground sections (they are experienced cavers).
I have advised owners that they must also believe that she could have wandered off & may get picked up & to also get plenty of posters up in area.
Out of hours dog warden service have been informed.
