So pleased to read that Chase is safely home. Well done to all involved.

I'm still searching for my two girls who were stolen in June 2014 unfortunately, they weren't microchipped, please share and help me to get them both home. Links below.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to team Chase on here - you have all been unbelievable, we could not have asked for a better team to be on our side. You've put in so many hours and goodness knows how many miles.... We are so grateful you can't imagine. Especially of course to Clarkey who has been our rock! But all of you who have commented on here, gone out and postered, offered advice and support. THANK YOU!!!!!

Absolutely the best news. Huge thank you to each and every person who searched, rang with sightings & postered....without you, Chase would probably still be giving us the slip!! There will be many people who will have their first proper nights sleep tonight!! Welcome home sweetheart. X
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
we have GOOD NEWS!! Chase has been found and caught!
Annette went down to the beach this afternoon as Corinne had called saying that he was curled up out in the open near where he had been seen yesterday. I'm very happy to say that he was caught by Annette and a lovely lady called Tracy who has got lots of experience with collies. He seems to be ok, although he is very tired and a bit weak which is to be expected. He will be going to the vets this evening. Hopefully I will be able to give you an update on his condition tomorrow.
I'm so grateful to every single one of you for all your invaluable help. Many, many thanks to everyone. It's been a long few days but luckily we have had a happy ending.
One last thing .. please would everyone TAKE DOWN all the posters!!! A very important job to do and a very satisfying one too!
Welcome back Chase :) (Ps If you refresh the page you will see the reunited photos) Last edited: 2016-08-05 17:15:58 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

So sorry were not able to help this next week due to other commitments, you don't know just how grateful we are for all your help and keeping us informed, we know chase is in safe hands x
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks LynS. Appreciate your request and I trust that everyone else will take note not to enter the field.
LynS
No sign when I checked my ponies and walked by dogs at 8.30am, on the Pevensey Marsh.
Please do NOT enter my field with 3 ponies grazing, adjacent to the bridleway, there is no public access in there, I will come and check the field if necessary. thank you.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Zoe and I agree we do have a wonderful team in our area.
I have been out since the early hours with Annette but there has been absolutely no sightings of Chase this morning. The kind people who saw him yesterday say that he has not been around since yesterday but they will let us know if they spot him again.
Hopefully all the posters will bring a new sighting so that we know where Chase has moved on to.
Massive thanks to all for your help.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I have nothing really to add to Clarkeys comment....we realise that everyone is trying to do their best to find Chase and think they are doing the best thing, but as we've realised, Chase is a very nervous boy, and will be inevitably getting more nervous as the days go on:-( We are so grateful to all the lovely people that are helping, especially the postering as it is this that brings in the sightings and its the sightings we need so that we can act on them. We need to keep the locals on side but they will quickly become unhelpful if people continue to trespass on their land. They are all aware that Chase is missing and will make contact with us if they sight him. Thank you to each and every person that has helped so far....we have a great team here in the South East :-)
Quincy
Due to a lot happening at home haven't been able to get out as much as I would like and another problem I haven't got my printer set up so haven't been able to print more posters. Will attempt to do that today. Will be around the levels area and will keep an eye out for any sightings. Plenty of people are aware of Chase and do show people his picture via phone.
shannon
such a shame he's still running loose. I have 5 bottles of smelly food in my fridge for him if you want it. good luck. please god today is the day that you have luck
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Initially a good day with a couple of sightings of Chase but unfortunately a very frustrating late afternoon and evening. I can't thank everyone enough for all the fantastic postering yesterday .. very impressive! Hopefully will lead to new sightings today.
I went down to follow up on the later sighting but found out when I got there that Chase had gone after being scared off by some, probably well meaning, people who went into the area.
I was informed late last night that several people went to the caravan park and walked through it looking for Chase. One person even went after dark with a large flashlight disturbing the guests and also local residents further along the beach. This has sadly led to complaints being made.
I do realise that everyone wants to help find Chase but this really is NOT the sort of help that we need.
The caravan park only gave permission for myself and one other person to go onto their property so everyone else who went there was NOT authorized to do this. This may well have seriously jeopardised any chance of our having their co-operation from them as they have paying guests on site and will not, understandably, tolerate them being disturbed.
Unfortunately this is also the sort of thing that will scare Chase away from the area. If he had found somewhere to settle to sleep there then he certainly will not be using the place again if he is disturbed. We already know that he is running from people trying to catch him and after being around for some time last evening I fear that he has moved on yet again. Most likely to the Sovereign Centre area or back on to the levels which is very frustrating.
I'm very sorry but, to those of you who were trying to help last evening, PLEASE do NOT go to the caravan park. It really is not acceptable. Whilst the beach is a reasonably good place for Chase it is also very busy in the daytime and the sighting at midday was of him going on to the beach but then when checked out was going back on to the levels so I believe he is avoiding places that have a lot of people in the daytime. We really do not want him to carry on running scared. So please do not be offending but we do not want lots of people rushing to sightings.
On the good side it was lovely to know so many people want to help and that Chase is at least moving around the circle/triangle that we epect most lost dogs to travel in. I suspect he will continue to do this until he decides to settle down (if he does!) ]

If anyone wants to ehlp today then please can we get posters up in the streets of the estate/ roads between Prioy Road and Sevenoaks Road as there are definitely not enough of them. I commented about the ones I did the other day before running out of posters but it's a huge rabbit warren of an area that Chase has already gone through twice without any reports of him being seen, possibly because there were no posters to get a tel number from!

Please be patient with us and be assured that if there are no comments on here from me after a sighting then it always means that I am out there following up on them. I'm going out now to Westham to see if he has gone back there and will then be heading for the Soveriegn Centre, marsh area.
Let's hope for a better day today. Last edited: 2016-08-05 05:39:11 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

Don't forget the bin area around the back of the Harvester (in the harbour). The fishing boats are back out today, so it'll be quiet round there until the boats come back to off-load later

Thanks Mary - I have amended my post !:-) As you say, the harbour may need doing too as he possibly travelled through that area to get to Pevensey/Westham.
Mary
Hi Zoe,
We concentrated our search yesterday in the area of The Sovereign Centre (a sports centre) as Chase had apparently been seen at the back of there. Sovereign Harbour which, has a shopping centre, locally known as The Crumbles is not the same area. Has anyone postered Sovereign Harbour?Last edited: 2016-08-04 09:47:28 by Mary

Morning Tina & Brian - good luck for today....will be thinking of you all. Really hope today brings some good news. Annette may be able to help this afternoon when she's finished work. She'll be in touch with Clarkey later in the day for any updates. If you do have any sightings/news today, could you keep this page updated so that Annette can search in the right area. As we know, Chase isn't staying in one place at the moment.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Great to hear Chase has been seen again. Spoke to Corrine and she says she thinks he had been on beach but could have gone over into fields. Please can anyone poster Pevensey Bad, Eastbourne Road as far as possible to Pevevsey Bay. Not sure if Kings Holiday Park are wlar but would be good to get a poster up there too please. Thanks.
Mallorys2012
Morning all nearly at westham x
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Just looked at map - he could be heading back to Sovereign Centre area again or Westham? Last night, Janet and I were trying to work out what route he took from Sovereign Centre to get to Westham, it could be that he's heading back on himself again. I wish I wasn't at work today :-(Last edited: 2016-08-04 10:05:08 by Zoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex

Corinne - thanks so much for the latest sighting. I believe Chase's fosterer is travelling to the area today so that will give them an area to concentrate on. Sightings are invaluable and so are posters.
Corinne
Chase was seen at 6.15 am travelling down Val Princeps Road, Pevensey Bay towards Eastbourne Road. Pos going across the fields lost sight of him at the bottom of Val Princeps.
shannon
that's not good then.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Good morning. Have been at Westham since crack of dawn but no sign of Chase.
I think it would be a good idea to poster the Polegate area please as lost dogs often turn up in that area. Many thanks.
Mallorys2012
Just wanted to thank Clarkey zoe and team for all your hard work today and for keeping us updated with what's going on , we're looking forward to meeting you tomorrow x Tina & Brian
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I have just read through all the new posts! Thanks Zoe for updating and to Annette and Kelly449ww for joining me this evening .. lovely to see you all again.
Just to confirm that there has been more than one sighting in Westham today and the latest one was of him going into entrance of the farm. We do not know if he went further on to the farmland and stayed there or not. The kind lady who reported this returned there late afternoon and got permission from the farmer to walk over the fields to see if she could spot Chase there but unfortunately no luck. She has given the farmer my tel number and Doglost posters and he has agreed to call me if he sees Chase.
This evening I spoke to a lovely girl who keeps her horses on the farm so she is also aware of Chase. She promised she would let the farmers daughters know about him too.
I should explain that even if we had permission from the farmer it would be little point in putting food on the farm as there are cats, dogs and other livestock on his yard as well as foxes that go there at night. Until we know if Chase is still in the area we must be patient I'm afraid!
I am asking politely that people do NOT TO GO to the farm. We were not able to speak to the farmer tonight as he was not there and we do NOT HAVE PERMISSION to go on to his land. He has cattle and sheep in the fields and horses too. There is also the fact that the main A27 road runs alongside his field. We obviously do not want Chase to get scared off anywhere near this road.
He is approaching people with dogs but as soon as anyone tries to get him to come to them he runs off as quick as he can. This is normal behaviour for a lost dog that is in 'survival/flight' mode and is how Chase has been behaving over the last few days. We just have to wait for him to settle down!
I will meet with Mallorys2012 in Westham tomorrow unless there has been a new sighting of Chase elsewhere. We will then decide what is the best thing to do if he is seen in the same area of Westham again.
Fantastic job of postering by sarahstaffie so huge thanks again to you! As Zoe has already said please would you all be kind enough to carry on with the postering in all surrounding areas to Eastbourne, Pevensey, Stone Cross etc.
If you would put a poster in your car window please that would also help.

Thanks again everyone and goodnight!

PS! Such a long busy day that I had forgotten to say that Alison Carina and I also went to Princes Park and put some laminated posters up and handed many more to dog walkers we saw. We went right around the back of the park and put posters up there too. I know that Alison carried on postering and looking afterwards so she has actually been out all day and been absolutely brilliant. It really does make all the difference having such wonderful volunteers! Thank you, thank you and thank you again :) Last edited: 2016-08-03 22:17:33 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

can I also add my thanks to you all, sadly chase wasn't with me that long but he is a darling of a boy, and knowing he is out there alone breaks my heart but all so knowing you lovely people are putting yourselves out like you are helps. thank you

Well done team Chase!
Kelly449ww
The farm collie did come over to us as we walked through the yard , she barked but whilst wagging her tail. She wasn't bothered by our dogs just seemed to be doing her bit as we were on her territory.
Really hope Chase hangs around as there were lots of people aware of him - the postering makes such a difference !
Fingers crossed for another sighting soon.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Have updated poster with latest sighting.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Clarkey, Janet, Annette & myself met up at 6pm at the last sighting in Westham. We split into twos, with a dog each pair, and set off to search in the lane and local footpaths. Unfortunately, there was no sign, although we did see a few people and handing out leaflets. Clarkey spoke to someone that had seen Chase today at the pond. He came up to the ladies dog apparently but then ran off:-( Just to clarify, Chase seems happier to approach dogs, as has been mentioned by the people that know him the best. There are local people who live near the pond (where the sightings were) who are looking out for Chase so hopefully he will go back there. We DO NOT have permission from the farmer to walk all over his land. He is aware of Chase and has all the numbers to call if he sees him. I think the key is to carry on with the posters in all surrounding areas to Eastbourne, Pevensey, Stone Cross, possibly Hailsham too although we have no idea which way he will head next.
I'd just like to say a HUGE thank you to sarahstaffie for her amazing postering today....they were literally everywhere and the lady saw Chase was calling after looking at one of the posters.
Thanks to everyone that has turned out today....hopefully tomorrow will be the day that Chase gets found. Last edited: 2016-08-03 21:27:47 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
shannon
just thought, if it was because of dogs barking it could be because he's free, or maybe it wasn't the barking but because of the person with them. just a thought
shannon
when Alfie barked it didn't bother him either
Mallorys2012
Lindsey chase isn't scared of Barking dogs due to mine bark constantly when he was here with us x
shannon
I didn't know dogs had frightened him off, I thought he would comfort with other dogs around
Lindsey
It doesn't surprise me that Chase see's a person or a barking dog and runs and runs. Somehow we need him to want to stay in the same place
Lindsey
I wouldn't think Chase will return to a place where dogs may have scared him off. When we get a new sighting it will be crucial. If its still by the farm great as at least that will be the first area he has stayed in
Butternut
Hi, please can the most recent sighting be updated to... I think it was Peelings Lane/Westham Pond?? (maybe somebody can confirm exactly location) at 2pm today? (comment below from shannon refers) Many thanks

Posters put up by pond and at Westham Village Hall. Gave some to local people. Poster put through Farmhouse door. Last edited: 2016-08-03 16:51:03 by Alison Carina

Yes farmer has 2 dogs which were locked in the Farmhouse, not reply when I rang. Outbuildings suggesting the dogs are outside quite a bit too.
sarahstaffie
I saw the collie in farm he barked at me !
shannon
clarky, that was what I was thinking about with farmer, have suggested some more food to be put down later by farmers, didn't know about pond this morning but farmer has collies I think and chase was in a shelter so might feel safer around dogs so with smelly food may like to stay in that area.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
sarahstaffie: that's brilliant, you are a superstar for doing that so quickly!
We are working on seeing if Chase is still in the area of the farm and also seeing if the farmer is dog friendly. Some really do not like stray dogs on their land especially if they have sheep.
sarahstaffie
Done all way up from WestHam to stonescross
shannon
Alison sqeezed some smelly food I believe over at farm so fingers crossed it will keep him in that area.
DogLostNina
Don't forget the camping and caravan sites along this stretch of coast there will be plenty of people about this time of year
sarahstaffie
I will do stone cross on my way home now
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Goodness, this lad is covering some ground. Wish Chase would settle down somewhere!
Many thanks to both people who called with the sightings .. this is really helpful for us as it tells us where Chase is/has been. Which is basically all over the place now!

Thanks again to everyone else who is helping poster, share and search.. it's definitely working for bringing in these all important sightings.
sarahstaffie: that's brilliant, thanks so much. Help like this in invaluable!

Relieved to hear of the sightings coming in .. some from Fbk shares and poster ones too so that's brilliant.
I've been out since 5am postering. Printed 100 small A5 ones and 30 laminated ones, all used or given out. Laminated ones to Hawkhurst Close by footpath and at end of road, the Risings, Wordsworth Drive, Langney Sports Club (Chase seen there Sunday midday'ish in car park & ran into field next to it) into bus shelters along those roads, given to 2 taxi cabs (thanks Eastbourne cabs) said they would put in office, road workers and a postman who said the same, guy emptying rubbish bins on the estate, grass maintenance crew etc. Laminated ones put up Sevenoaks Rd car park and handed multiple posters to all dog walkers seen there. Poster on gate by yellow water m/c. Gave some to Quincy so hope you will be able to give them out. Any posters anywhere in Eastbourne, Westham, Pevensey & within that area will be a big help.
Think it might pay off to poster in Stone Cross area as well in case Chase comes back that way.
Rather concerned that this latest sighting means Chase has crossed the railway lines and also the A259. Just hoping he stays away from the A27 now. I have asked Butternut to alert Highways & Byeways & Network rail in the area and I believe they ae aware now.

Really want Chase to behave like most lost dogs now and backtrack in triangle/circle to Eastbourne area! Any posters anywhere in Eastbourne, Westham, Pevensey & within that area will be a big help.
Think it might also pay off to poster in Stone Cross area as well pretty please, as Chase may make his way back in that direction.

If anyone has friends in Westham, Pevensey area please share to them.
Another busy day trying to find this lad, wish we knew where he is going next!
Keep up the good work everyone, you are all doing a great job which is greatly appreciated.
sarahstaffie
Just spoken to a young lad with 2 dogs said he saw him this morning sitting in the car park behind the village hall op the pond he took his home and came back and chase ran up peelings lane to feild that was 6 am
sarahstaffie
I have spoken to few people by pond stuck up more posters in high street gave Somme to florist been to farm no one in but stuck poster on their post put posters up peeling lane to hankham road come on chase
Mallorys2012
We need to becareful he don't head towards the a27 which is at the back of the farm .
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Thank you very much Sarahstaffie. We'll rethink our search area later so will focus on that area instead....I had a feeling Chase would end up going that way! Need to look at map again too to see if we can guess his next move. X

Thank you Zoe for updating with recent sighting, and thanks to the person who called it in.

Network Rail informed, they have said they will inform their local teams to be aware (log 160803-181)

Local dog warden informed of recent sighting.
LynS
I'm assuming you mean spotted in the bushes by the skate park, which is behind the Sovereign Centre? That's next to the Sovereign Park, where there's lots of cover. Can I say, its *very* busy on the sea front now (12.30pm), and looking out of my flat, there's no way a scared dog would show himself. I have work commitments until Monday, and no access to a printer. The council are funny about posters going up along the seafront, we're severely reprimanded if we show anything "unsightly" from our balconies or windows, and that includes washing!
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I have updated poster with latest sighting.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I can't get there until I finish work. Looking at the map, that seems to be the direct path he would have taken if hed carried on running when he was last seen. I will concentrate on that area when I go later. I know someone who lives on the harbour so will tag her in on this on facebook. x
Butternut
If anybody can help putting up posters it would be a massive help please! Needs doing right down to the seafront now please.

Hi all we have left our scent all round the marsh and our little dog polly has left her scent to who chase loves. The food has been left under that water thing where he was sighted this morning , I have given Alison more food for tomorrow . Were nearly home now and totally shattered it beeb a long day ,thank you to everyone who has been out today looking , I just want my baby home x Tina x
Butternut
Mallorys2012 have had to leave the area now. Some food has been left in the marshes. Hopefully he will find some shelter. Not sure if they can return tomorrow. Fingers crossed more sightings and that he'll take the food and stay around.
Lindsey
Thank you people who are helping find this puppy. I can't tell you how worried everyone is. Anyone who can help put up posters all over the area would be so much appreciated. I know Megan will have some tomorrow. I'm praying for another sighting in the morning. He just has no idea how to fend for himself and tomorrow is day 4. I hope a local small search party can or is linking in with Megan. I know there is nobody there during the nights. Please everyone do all you can to help
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Zoe and Butternut.
A trap may be useful eventually but as we are not really sure if Chase is still on the marsh it might be a little early to use one. We also need to know that Chase is staying in this same area before we set any trap up which would need to be manned so other wildlife is not caught in it.

However, leaving a scent article like bedding/something that has strong scent of Mallory2012 wld be good as it wld prob attract Chase if he is still there. Any unwashed clothing will have fresh scent on and he wld find that. Could be put in a cage or box with something covering it but think it may be bit too wet for that tonight as heavy rain forecast.

The most important thing as I & others keep saying (sorry!) is to get posters out there. There can never be enough of them! I will try to print some more tonight and get them laminated if poss. I should also explain that it is not unusual to only have a couple of sightings when a dog is first lost, especially if he is moving around (possibly at night now) or hiding up because of the weather. When a lot of posters are out there then I am sure we will get more sightings come in as more people will be aware and looking out for Chase.

Most importantly I would like to thank the lady who reported the sighting of Chase this morning. Also thanks to all who are helping share for Chase, those who have been out looking for him, who are offering to poster and watching the progress of the search for him on this page. There have already been over 5300 views of it!
If anyone does Twitter please would they Tweet for Chase? I will ask our Twitter lady to do some for us.
Please update re any other progress on this page as not all of our helpers are on Fbk.social media.
Fingers crossed that Chase will show himself again tomorrow.
shannon
I believe some posters were put up but with the weather being as is not sure still are. the lady who was going to collect the laminated posters unfortuneatly wasn't feeling well. hopefully she is going tom. if not iv'e said I will and as it's Eastbourne town centre i'll go into shops as there are also unlaminated posters. there are people down there and they are coming to collect food and his blanket.fingers crossed he'll stay there, I don't think he could get over to me too swampy but I and 2 others were wrong about him getting out of my garden, as I said on home check never say never

Lindsey, there was a potential sighting this morning (see previous posts). I know there have been various people out most of the day. I don't know the area myself, but it would seem that the marsh is quite dense in places, lots of places for Chase to shelter/hide. I believe that there are people out now (which is probably quite a good time to go out). I plan to go after work tomorrow, all being well. So we at least have an area to concentrate on, we just need to keep him in the area.
Lindsey
Hi Chase is 8 months old. He lived in a shelter most of his life, not used to roads and he was still being socialised with strangers. Although he is from my rescue Romanian rescue appeal he has never lived on the streets. What we need is sightings so we can pinpoint where he is.
Butternut
If anyone is able to comment here where posters are or are not yet up, that would be great. Around the marshes needs plastering with them though please! I'm nowhere near the area so can't help with that I'm afraid, but so grateful for everyone's help, thank you
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I may be able to source a trap but probably not until tomorrow and someone would have to pick it up as I'm at work all day. Hopefully Chase will show himself to his original fosterers but if there's still no sign I'll try to get over to the area late afternoon tomorrow after work to have a scout around. Thanks to everyone who has helped today. I know there have been several people who have been really proactive, printing and displaying posters and searching the area.
Butternut
Original fosters (Mallorys2012) are back in the area - they are suggesting perhaps borrowing a crate and putting some bedding and food in it, setting it up in the marshes where he was spotted? Is this a good idea, and if so does anyone local have a crate for the purpose?!
Butternut
fh - no he's not neutered (as still youngish).
DogLostSharon - Social Media Volunteer
I have shared with Doglost FB group, Public & Twitter. I hope Chase is safely back at home soon. X
Butternut
Shannon you can prepare anything that's smelly - but don't put it near roads, he is safer if he stays on the marshes I would think.
Quincy
Shannon the notice about bull in field it refers to water buffalo and they are right ober other side of lake. You can sld shelter from the gate to marshes.

shannon
can I give egg as he is a pup please
fh
Is the dog neutered? One thing that usually attracts their attention is the smell of a bitch in season? Does anyone in the area have a bitch in season? If so, could they get the bitch to wee on some cloth (stick it under her while she wees), then use the cloth to lay a scent trail near where he has been sighted? He might hang around one area if he smells that? Then again everyone else's dogs might also hang around too :-)
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Think if Chase it still on the marsh that it would be better to try to keep him in the same area. Best not to encourage him into car park or back near/on to the roads if at all possible.
It's going to be very wet overnight so any posters will need to be laminated ones or in plastic folders please.
shannon
i'm making up some raw food for him and will blend it as
i'm doing my dogs dinners. am going there this evening probably with my daughter and Alfie, I was told he was seen in car park originally so the food site could be near there no too close obviously because of cars. open to suggestions. have suggested posters be put up in town as well
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I've just been out to the marshes and had a good look with several other people including Kelly449w but sadly no sign. We met with the kind lady who saw Chase this morning & it seems he was on the marsh itself so had to have gone through a gate to get there. Possibly hiding out there again as rain got heavier.
shannon: your number is on the many posters we have printed but I gather no answer to msgs. Maybe your tel needs charging? Most info is being put on here for you.

Kelly449w & I both printed 50 posters each (before new tel numbers added I'm afraid) & I gave them to everyone who we saw out walking.

Mallorys2012: Great to hear that but horrible weather for your long drive. I know the route well! I have left you a private msg on Fbk page.

Chase could be anywhere on the marsh now or cld have doubled back again through the estate. He is certainly making it hard for us but hopefully will take time to rest up in the heavy rain.
As more people are aware that he is missing now we must hope for another sighting.
Thanks to all who came out in the rain, not very nice but at least we tried!
shannon
couldn't see him or other people, couldn't go too far as bull and cowes were loose. it was also raining si I would think if it's there he would be sheltering. zoe it's off the rising I believe, but it's worth a try as no one else is telling me anything
Quincy
there are several entrances to the park but the main car parking area is close to the shopping precinct in Pembury road. There is a vets there i.e. St. Annes vets
Quincy
The entrance to car park is between west rise school and the small shopping precinct in Pembury road. Its less than 5 minutes from Hawhurst close
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Shannon - looking at the map it looks like its the main road that runs in front of your house (adjacent to the Langney Rise road which is behind your house?). Is it not somewhere you've walked your dogs as its right on your doorstep? Not sure where the car park is but possibly near the junction of Pembury Road? I am only going off Streetmap as I don't know the area well enough.
Many thanks Quincy for going out at short notice.
shannon
if some one can let me know where, I don't know that area have his food water toy
Quincy
Been down on to marsh met 2 others they went towards old armoury so decided to walk diagonally the other way hoping to meet up. But close to time Ana needs to get to work so had to return home, hope they have some good luck. Its such a vast area. Fingers crossed he surfaces again. Where he was spotted is close to where he escaped from. Drove back round all side streets but no luck
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Good luck everyone - I'm stuck at work....so sorry I can't come out. Will try to get hold of Janet to see if she can help. All her dogs are rescues so it would be great to have her onboard if she can get there. x
shannon
laminated posters with ties are hopefully in the process of being printed and collected this afternoon. been for another look but nothing, will go again later hopefully with some posters.
Mallorys2012
I'm original foster mum were on way home from Exeter should be in Eastbourne around 3ish if no one can get him out myself and husband will be able to x
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks quincy .. he's on the marsh side so must have got thru the gates to them. Running fast diagonally towards old armery?? Alison on way so text her if you need to. On my way too .. think we will have to hope we spot him and then take it very slowly from there. Am armed with sardines (and wellies!)
Quincy
On way now only 5 mins from there
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
SIGHTING now
Sevenoaks Road, near the Marsh, near the car park into the marsh.
Bedraggled dog.
Any one in the area that can go and see if they canspot him please?
shannon
daughter has had another look before going to work, priory rd. in and out of the roads but no sighting will look again tonight at whatever time she gets back, she knows the do's and don'ts. posted being printed off and will be laminated and have ties so so hopefully won't get ruined.
Butternut
I have changed the contact numbers to people who are able to respond and comment more rapidly on here/fb etc. However if any posters have the original numbers on they are still valid.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Kelly449w and Quincy! Great to know some posters out now.
All places I was going to suggest that Chase may have gone to have been suggested by Quincy. I too hope that he was sheltering whilst raining. If so, he is likely to be out and about when it stops.
shannon: If Mallory2012 was in area where Chase was sighted on Sunday then chances are that he has recognised her scent so he may go back there or to any other places she walked. Worth asking householders to check all gardens, garages etc and please post small posters through letterboxes as well as putting up on the streets.
Agree with Zoe .. just need a new sighting now.

Janet - thank you so much for getting some posters up. Hopefully they will bring in a much needed sighting. Edited to say, that i texted a friend this morning who lives near the Crematorium and who walks her dog several times a day, predominanatly in the lake area - i have asked her to keep an eye open as she's normally out early doors and to spread the word. x

Kelly449ww
As Quincy has said the area is a rabbit warren of cul de sacs , closes ; a sprawling estate. I've been out this morning , weather not great for spreading the word. I did speak to one lady walking her dogs on the football ground mentioned. She hadn't heard of Chase and said she pass word on. I think it's worth going again on another dry morning as many people around with dogs , just in the rain this morning people were not inclined to hang around.
Re posters - I have come home but will go back out later , lots of bus stops / shelters which were busy with workers this morning - I will poster them in the area of Wordsworth Drive. Seems to be all metal lampposts so strong tape is needed and obviously everything is soaking today. Hoping this clears up soon.
The marshland beyond the football ground is extensive , I walked in via a public footpath to see ( I don't know the area well as I live at the other end of the town ). It is perfect for a dog to hide out , lots of thick undergrowth for cover and shelter , well away from humans. But horrendous to search. We need another sighting otherwise it's the proverbial haystack.
shannon
mallory2012, i'm Maggie who you met on sunday, at the moment he's here so for now i'm his foster mum, I thought you knew. my friends off here are going to the area where last seen this morning, it's just across the road where you were on sunday. i'm going same area but further out, will come back on after iv'e been or hopefully get a happy phone call for all of us. my daughter is also searching the area before she goes to work
Quincy
Morning Clarkey
The park is very close to where Chase was staying off Sevenoaks road. However, I notice he was spotted the other side of the main road. The way he was heading he will, if he doesn't deviate, come to fields leading to marshes. You also have Langney Football Cub close by. There are so many places he could turn off. There are lots of pathways to houses and bungalows plus a lot of the garages are en bloc. We have had very bad weather over night and it is still raining now 7.40 a.m. so hopefully he will find shelter. Will go out shortly to the area he was last spotted. There is also Eastbourne cremetorium that would provide some shelter.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Mallory2012: Thanks for clarifying who would be called. We are just trying to do our best.
Kelly449w If you are able to get emails/posters to the vets it would help so that all the staff on duty at different times are aware. Thanks.

If anyone is able to poster today please would you leave a comment on here to let us know which area, streets etc that they have been put up in (so no-one wastes time going over same area)

shannon: I hope you have read the emails I sent to you as the info in them is important. Also explains the often slow process of how to catch a scared dog.
There's no guarantee that Chase is still in the area where the sighting came in as he will have been moving around although he may try to back his way back to your house. So it's very important to have posters all around the area and further. This really is the way to get sightings reported to you. Please remember to let us know of any sightings and also where you have searched today so this page can be kept updated. Thanks.

Quincy: which park is nearby please? Not an area I know unfortunately.

If anyone sees Chase please remember to stay very calm, do not try to catch him unless he approaches you. Keep him in sight and call the number on this page please.
Best of luck with the search and thanks to all who are helping. Just need another sighting now.
Kelly449ww
Mallory2012 - we are all just trying to do all we can to find Chase. It's an awful situation and everyone wants the same outcome. I'm glad you mentioned that all Eastbourne vets have your number as I was going to email the Doglost poster out to the all tomorrow, thinking it could then be displayed in surgeries around the town ?
Mallorys2012
But as we were trying to say every single vets in eastbourne has our tel no plus the dog wardens do as well plus the rspca do to plus our mobile as well but when he's found and scanned rra will be contacted first
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Mallory2012: shannon is the person who Chase was with in Eastbourne. I understood from your comment earlier that you are away now.
Re Chase's microchip .. who would be contacted if he is picked up by the Dog Wardens please as they would ring whoever the microchip is registered to on their database.
Was probably a good idea that shannon put her tag on his collar as anyone can now call her when he is found. Last edited: 2016-08-01 23:14:21 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Mallorys2012
Shandon who on earth are u we are his actually foster parents he's in eastbourne for a holiday until we come bk
shannon
meant to say chase is not tattoo'd but the tag says he is, this is because I put my dogs tag on him because it has my surname, mine and my vets tel number, chipped oviously the chip won't be the right one for him but I thought at least it would be checked, I forgot the law is now that they have to be checked. it also says insured but I don't think he is. he is nervous and I believe you all know what to do. he doesn't like a lead but is used to a harness but if you get close enough although it bothers him it's not major and he will let you pick him up, but likely to run if you try to get him. if you want to know anymore please ask
Kelly449ww
As Shannon has just said, I will poster tomorrow morning. In light of yesterday's sighting I think it's perhaps best to focus around the area Chase was last seen in. I will go to Wordsworth Drive and immediate joining roads.
Janet.
shannon
first of all, thank you all for helping this gorgeous boy, I couldn't get on here before, i'm his foster mum, iv'e been out and about but obviously he's the other side of the road, I was told yesterday he wouldn't go near a road, but my daughter lives in wordsworth and was actually out looking for him then and again last night. she probably missed him as she came over this side but she went out last with partner and their dog around that area as it's there usual walk place. tomorrow my friend is going there very early, then when I get back from drs. i'll be heading that way
sarahstaffie
i will get some posters out in westham and pevensey tomorrow that's just other side of crossing
Butternut
Clarkey, I've sent you a PM - it will be in your requests folder I guess.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks Butternut and Zoe, Good to hear of a sighting even though yesterday. Thanks for letting us know .. I'm afraid I always find it hard to keep up with pages/posts on Fbk as I can't get it on my mobile!
I have spoken to foster carer for Chase and she has been out searching with her other dog and is doing all she can.
I have asked her to comment on here and give as much info as possible as to the direction Chase was seen going in when lost. I gather he jumped over fence of her garden in Hawkhurst Close and into neighbours garden then out into an alley, turned right, over a road on to a grass area and then through another alley/gap by houses and possibly in direction of seafront. Sorry, not familiar with area so can't give names of roads!
Posters are being printed tonight and so hopefully they will be out tomorrow. If anyone else is able to help put some up it would be appreciated. I'm in Hastings but if I can get transport tomorrow I will come over and help if possible.
Butternut .. would you send me a private msg on my Facebook page please? I'm Megan Clarkey Clarke on there.
Posters are the most important now as we need sightings as soon as possible.. there can never be enough of them!

Thanks to everyone for helping. I know a lot of you helped when Rufus went missing and we had a happy ending for him.

Clarification from the one and only sighting yesterday - he came down the slope by the new houses on langney rise then ran across that road and run down rise park gardens towards Wordsworth drive
Butternut
I have asked them to contact Network Rail, I will try to find out if it was done.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I was just about to post the same about the sighting. I've just looked at the map and it looks like he was heading in the direction of the marshes? I've also noticed that the train line runs relatively close to where he was last seen? Has anyone contacted the railways? X
Butternut
Thanks very much. Thanks Kelly we are having real problems getting posters up for some reason even though we have stressed repeatedly how important it is.

There is a fb page Help Find Chase, and someone has commented on there:
I saw him run across the main road and down rise park gardens Sunday about 1230

I believe he went missing at around 11.00.

The original foster lives in Billinghurst. About an hour away I think by car?
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I am so sorry that I can't be more hands on with this. I have such a busy week work wise and I just don't see how I can get over to Eastbourne:-( Very grateful to everyone's help. Please, is there any more local helpers that can get some posters up? Kelly449ww has very kindly offered to poster but she can't do it on her own. I do know the area vaguely. My thoughts are that he is likely to be laying low, possibly near Shinewater Lake, where there is quite a few places that he could shelter but has access to the water. There is a Parkrun every Saturday morning at 9am, if he is not found by then then I'd really recommend someone going down there with some posters so that the runners can keep an eye open for him. It would be great to have a sighting so that there is at least an area to focus on. It is important that Chase is not scared off so I think the request is not to approach him if he's seen. Thanks for all that have helped so far. X
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks to all for your comments and for helping find Chase.
I have sent out email advice so hopefully that will help with the search.
Mallorys2012 Where Chase's main foster home please? If the temporary foster carer lives near to this then he is most likely to try and find his way back there when he has settled down.
Yes, Kelly449ww, the most important thing is to get as many posters out as possible please as this is how you will get sightings of him.
Butternut, I have added you (I think!) and have put a post on Doglost East Sussex re Chase. Have also shared to Lost Pets Eastbourne page ..please would someone keep an eye on that post as often people will comment as to sightings on there and not put on this page. If you see any sightings please comment on here so I can bump the page.
This lad is going to be running scared despite being friendly so may be best to call number on this page, to keep eye on him if seen and not try to catch him unless he approaches you.
Come on Chase .. show us where you are lad so we can get you back to safety.
Kelly449ww
I intend to print and put up posters tomorrow morning as I strongly believe this is vital in spreading the word. I will also notify local shops - unless anyone else has told the shops in Pembury Road ? I have a friend who works at the nearby primary school - she is going to notify the caretaker as the site will be quiet in the summer break and somewhere Chase could hide. Just a thought, remembering another local dog who went missing and travelled 6 - 7 miles. It's easy from Hawkhurst Close to get to Priory Road and onto the marsh towards Pevensey.
Mallorys2012
Chase does have a scar on his belly from an operation he had also his fur still not grown back properly
Mallorys2012
Hi I'm chase main fosterer we are going on holiday today so he was in eastbourne temp until we come bk please everyone check all areas including round bin areas food places all vets dog wardens and rspa have been notified around eastbourne ty all
Quincy
Just got back from West Langney Lake off Sevenoaks Road. No sightings but spoken to plenty of dog walkers to spread the word. Just been to Hawkhurst Close which is literally next road from us. Its all footpaths and alleyways but if headed towards us there is a school plus there is very overgrown woodland. Will be ready to leave again should there be a sighting plus will go out tonight.
Butternut
Thanks Quincy. Yes they said heading towards seafront but that was lunchtime yesterday, it must have been heaving so I personally doubt he'd have gone that way. There have been no sightings at all since which is odd. He could be anywhere, but I'd think quieter areas are more likely now.

If anybody is on Doglost East Sussex facebook group, please could you share him there? I asked to join yesterday but still waiting for approval. Thanks.
Quincy
Ana and I are on our way out no. Spoke to oster carer this morning and she lives round the corner from us. There is a park and beyond that fields. These are not far from where he went missing. The carer did say he was heading for the seafront which is approximately mile and half away. We will concentrate around the park and fields today.

Size wise he's about 12kg I believe - small collie size I would think.

Yes he was from Romania - has been in UK about 2.5 months, but just moved to a new foster home, so he does not know them or the area.
