Stranded puppy saved from Talacre mudflats after INCREDIBLE community effort

Miniature poodle Lola reunited with her owners after it went missing on morning walk

A family left devastated by the disappearance of their dog have thanked the kindhearted community who helped find her.

Lola the miniature poodle pup went missing during her morning walk on Talacre beach.

No sooner had her owners Eve and Mark Bainbridge uploaded a poster on Facebook, it was quickly shared by hundreds of people.

Within hours a search party had been organised and locals posted flyers through letter boxes in a bid to track her down.

The widespread appeal led to Lola being found on mud flats in nearby Mostyn some 30 hours later. People on the beach kept her in sight while Mark jumped into the sea to reach her.

Eve said: “Lola went missing at 7.30am on Saturday after her morning walk on Talacre beach with my husband. She had been on a lead but had run off while he was getting her back into the car with our older dog, Winnie.

“To cut a very long story short she was missing for 30 hours in total. It was a devastating time for our family as we searched high and low in the pouring rain on Saturday with no sign of her at all.

“Her lost posters were shared far and wide on Facebook to alert everyone in the surrounding areas and even further afield on the off chance she had been taken, but there was no news.”

“We went to bed that night after searching all day feeling exhausted and hopeless.”

Eve, from Merseyside, added: “The incredible community of Talacre and the surrounding villages pulled together to help us.

“Many had already searched with us on the Saturday in little groups, some keeping an eye out while walking their own dogs, however a larger search party was organised for Sunday morning since she had still not been found.

“People posted flyers through letter boxes and walked in all different directions so we were in the fortunate position of having eyes everywhere at the same time.

“Eventually Lola was sighted on the mud flats towards Mostyn, but those who spotted her could not reach her because of the quicksand.
“Instead they stayed with her in sight until my husband, friend and I were able to make it over and go through the mud pads, quicksand and to the sea where Lola had by this point jumped in and was swimming out.

“It was then that my husband managed to jump in and save her.”
Eve added: “The emotions were incredible. We were ecstatic and in total shock and disbelief that we had actually found her and that she was safe and well. We phoned the children to let them know – then tired, heavy and muddy we carried her back to our caravan feeling like a very lucky family indeed.

“To those that spread the word, offered support to keep us sane through a long traumatic 30 hours, and especially to those who came out to join us in our search, we cannot thank you enough. The community spirit here in North Wales is truly heart warming and the dog lovers of Talacre and nearby villages a testament to mankind.”
