thanks for sending details of Border terrier at Ponderosa. Have been away and arrived home tonight. Will check with TracyB to see if she has contacted owner about this dog as I got no reply from the last text I sent Gina re another found Border terrier. It would be so wonderful if it is him and the Castleford area was the last place he was known to be in !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thaks for posting Gina's computer still no go so am relaying any messages to her. If only the silly women hadn't picked him up & driven him to Castleford he would have been home now. Despite blitzing area with posters he has vanished. I would see if there's a traveller liason officer or similar working for the council. Our travelling friends are in the area, over here as well as near you. May be worth borrowing another dog & having a walk. We think the one's near us may have quite a lot of new garden equipment since they unscrewed a neighbours shed door from it's hinges & emptied the contentsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Glynafon I have sent details of your earlier posts on 22.08.07 also to owner of Toby (OL3). Gina as there is a few borders and other dogs in areas not far from each would be helpful if you all teamed up and looked out for each other dog if not already doing so. I look across the fields every day I my way home just in case. We hit every car in Ponte racecourse again 2 weeks ago & passersby. There's miles of land & could have easily gone the other way which will take him further away than originally thought. Dont really know where to look next, just wish we had positive sighting Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the pm Georgina. I am truly sorry you are not getting feedback from your postering etc. but please don't give up. Remember every day could be the one when you hear something. Keep checking that the posters are still there and readable. If someone has taken Eddie in they cannot keep him hidden indefinitely and he will be spotted. I have had Borders for years and the one thing I do know is that they never forget anyone they know! Thinking of you all the timeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Am staying away from the area right now but still checking in to see if any positive news of poor little Eddie and sorry to see that there is'nt any although I have no doubts that if any good news about him came in TracyB would be texting me ASAP . Gina, I have usually found the lady that actually runs MOUNT PLeasant to be quite helpful so I think you must have spoken to one of her helpers if you were dealt with in such an unpeasant manner. I do seem to recall being dealt with rather abruptly on one occasion myself so maybe it was the same person again. Dont give up hope of finding your little man. Not heard from Gina for a few days, but not heard anything. I postered around racecourse & Gina as far as I know been back upto where stupid woman took him. There's so many fields around here that he could be anywhere- either in fields or picked up. There's also a busy M62 although nothing reported of him been involved in RTA. Will speak to Gina tomorrow- I've not been around much for last few days due to other commitments & very low on helpers around here & Barnsley- trying to change that situation & doing all we can in the meantime.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Georgina, I am so sorry to hear about the reaction of this representative of Mount Pleasant kennels. Surely anyone involved in the rescue of dogs should realise just what stress the owner of a missing much loved pet is going through and should not be so negative when asked for help. We all know that the "rehoming after 7 days rule" is so unreasonable, there is no need to upset anyone who is quite obviously doing everything within their powers to find a member of their family by upsetting them even further. Keep strong in your belief that Eddie WILL RETURN!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hello, just a quick update. 1 person rang me about Eddie from the yorkshire evening post and told me she had found a dog and Dog warden had collected him on 3rd July and taken him to Mount Pleasant Kennels. It definately wasn't Eddie as i have rang the Kennels every day for first 2 weeks and then every few days since then..... I did ring the dog warden and the Kennels again yesterday and they have nothing. The kennels r getting fed up with me i think cos i do keep ringing. Mount Pleasant told me that they have had about 4 Border Terriers in since 1st July, i only know of 2. And they told me that they r kennels property and have been re homed. Like i don't know the procedure by now. I dont think that the woman had a nice tone and se isn't the same woman who i usually speak to so i think she must have been moody,...., Well that is it for now, i am spreading the word about more and hopefully do more posters...... thanks everyone for your support and hopeflly Eddie will be home very soon........Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Excellent cover by Yorkshire Post & most people I've asked have either seen it or been told about it. As most people don't live in this area it's hard to explain, but if you imagine loads of fields with motorway running through it, major retail park just off it then you get some idea. Eddie could get a lot of the way home with never been seen- unless some other idiot has picked him up & thought it was too late to report it-believe that one you'll believe anything. We did hope that maybe he would go back towards the allotments near the caravan but if he associates it with capture he wont. Direct route from caravan to Pontefract Racecourse with leads onto mini golf course onto more fields. Posters up & given out but again dont know where to start thanks to this stupid women taking him away from home -no doubt had intention of keeping him. If by some chance you are reading this- sorry but what you did was theft & you've left one very young child heartbroken through sheer stupidity. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

well done to the Yorkshire Post for publishing Eddies story !! They really are first class for the help they have given us with lost/stolen dogs in recent weeks. Full marks to the Yorkshire Evening Post !! Georgina have you contacted the Wakefield Dog Warden and told them that Eddie was moved to their area ? I was contacted by the Barnsley dog warden today with regards to a dog i found and reunited last week and whilst chatting to him i mentioned Eddie. He personally was not aware about Eddie being missing but he has been off sick for sometime and is only just back at work this last week or so. He told me that Castleford would be covered by the Wakefield DW. Pam xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been away for the last week and Tracyb text me with this latest news on poor little Eddie while I was away! Just dont know what this woman thought she was playing at picking him up and then leaving him in a caravan on what sounds like a bit of wasteland to me miles from where he went missing ! Why did'nt she report finding him ?She sounds very suspect and irresponsible to me. So now this poor little chap is miles from home whereas he stood a better chance of finding his way home from where he went missing ! Gina have you tried the papers local to Castleford to see if they will run the story as we need lots of local awareness for Eddie's plight in that area in the hope someone has taken him in and will come forward when they realise the situation. I feel so sorry for you Gina to be in this position. It does seem rather suspicious but perhaps a visit from the Police may lead to Eddie becoming too hot to handle if this person is involved and whoever has him will do the right thing and let him be returned to you. Keep up the good work! I am sure we all wish we were near enough to help you in your search. Hoping for some good news very soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi everyone, Had a mad day Friday over in Castleford. Searched for a while and then decided it would be a good idea to go to the ladies house again and see her. I showed her a picture of Eddie and it was defienately him who she picked up. She was very on edge and quite nervous when i was there and i was really suspisious of her. She wouldn't let me any where near the house so i decided to call the police. They arrived 2 hours later and questionsed her but Eddie was't the the police officer said. Idon't think she looked around though. I have been very busy all weekend and tied up with work till Wednesday but I think we will go over that way Tomorrow eveing and put some posters up around Catleford and Cutsyke area. If there is any helpers over that way it would be great if you could keep a look out for Eddie. I think someone else has taken him in but you never know. come home Eddie we miss you loads.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cant believe we've done bout 300 posters, newpapaers & radio station & this twit didn't tell us that she had him. Could have got him home by now-not impressed. The exact area where Eddie went missing last is called Cutsyke. It is just at the back of Freeport at Castleford, the shopping centre and Xscape skiing centre.... I have spoken to the woman who picked up Eddie, it was definately him, She said it was a border terrier and that it looked just like Eccles from Coronation St. Does anyone know the film good boy? she said it was the dog that was in that.... She said that when she went back to the caravan where she had left Eddie overnight he had escaped. She asked around and apparently he had been walking around there for about half an hour that same morning. She went looking for him but couldn't find him..... just getting ready to go up there now to familiarise myself with the area a bit more. Going to put up some posters etc and ask around the estates nearby. Hopefully i will know more when i get back. I think Eddie i probably trying to find his way home but we live 15 miles away from there and i don't know if he will find his way home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well James and Myself went to the place where the woman had told us Eddie was, they were perfect directions and there was a storage company there so i went and asked a man who owned it if he knew anything. He hadn't seen Eddie and he didn't know anything about Eddie, but he did know the woman in question who owned the caravan who had picked up Eddie. I went to the caravan to see if i could investigate but there was a Rottwieler on the land so i couldn't actually go up to the caravan. There was a boarded up window where Eddie had apparentley escaped from. We called Eddie for ages but there was no reply. There is a Railway line that runs along the back of the storage units that is active, but i couldn't see an entrance onto it. The M62 is about a mile at the most away. We could barely hear if Eddie did call due to the very noisy motorway traffic... There is quite a lot of fields straight off of the land where caravan is and some building companies etc. They had all closed for the evening but i am going to go back today and ask around there. If Eddie has escaped from there then there is only 2 options really, He has gone towards the fields or he has gone back towards the main road and gone onto other estates across the road. I found out where the woman lives, so i went there and she wasn't in, it was he partner, he said that he did know that she had found a dog and thought that it had escaped but i would need to speak to her. I tried ringing her last night but there was no reply. I am going to try again today and show her a picture of Eddie just to make sure it was him...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

UPDATE- Rang Wakefield Police, nothing reported but she is going to look into it and give me a call back. Cass Police were very unhelpful but im going to ask Tracy to call them for me and see what she can do... The street is called FLASS LANE in Glass houghton, after a railway line, turn left, then Atkinson's woodyard. Not sure if this railway line is active or not but i am going to go up there tonight with James and meet tracy and look around. It appears it is a caravan site of some sort, the lady said that there is lots of fields nearby too. Don't know much else, have rang the Kennels again, nothing reported still. Someone, somewhere has Eddie, lets just hope that they return him to us soon as Ellie is still really missing Eddie and asking for him every day.... So glad that this information has come forward as i have been searching almost every day in the complete wrong area as it seems now. Hopefully i will know some more information later on. info to date- rang Cas police- no help wouldn't take details or give incident number. Eddie was taken to caravan on SLASS LANE, GLASSHOUGHTON which is at the rear of Escape- J32 of M62. Left turn over roundabout nr new Asda, down end of lane nr Atkins Woodyard. From working near here & asking questions there is/was a 'traveller' site in that area. Therefore not sure if Eddie has escaped or been 'moved' to avoid been returned. It was only a matter of time before some one came forward with info as he's all over Barnsley area, posters, shops, radio, local papers. Hope thye do the same again as Gina's daughter who has been brought up with Eddie is missing him desperatly. Hope this aspect appeals to whoever has him & bring him back. Hi Gina- sorry not to have spoken to you for a few days. My mum is postman, I know Helen does part of Cudworth, will find out if mum knows who does rest of it. Not as illogical as it seems. From Grimethorpe Woods across White City- onto muck stacks from old pit. He could then follow old railway line (part still used for rolling stock) & it takes you onto backs of Cudworth-allotments & Dot Hyman. Will give mum more posters & see if van driver can off on way back through in morning. Fingers Crossed & will let you know if mum knows who he is.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Just giving everyone an update. On Sunday we recieved a call from a man who had seen a poster in a bus stop in Cudworth near Dorethy Hymen sports centre. He said that there is a dog exactly like Eddie or is Eddie that walks around his estate and follows the Post man, he said it doesn't look like he has an owner and has been around several times. we went straight through there and looked around for about half an hour but there was no sign. I think i am going to go back to cudworth tomorrow and re poster everywhere and see if we can attract some more interest. Georgina sorry it was'nt Eddie but at least you know people are taking notice of the posters ! There are quite a few Border Terriers in the Shafton/ Cudworth area and every time I see someone with one i'm giving the dog a long lookover to be sure its not Eddie. Most of the ones I see locally are much older dogs than Eddie. come on home Eddie xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

well, i recieved a call today at about 11am from a man who works at moto save. A customer had noticed my posters there and said that he was sure he had seen Eddie, or a dog like him near the Dards pub at Cudworth. I was at work so i immediately rang my father in law who raced through there. Unfortunately it wasn't Eddie, it was another border terrier but he was with his owner who lived nearby. The dog had been walking about on his own. This is the first call i have had in over a week so hopefully the posters keep working and we can get Eddie home soon. I am going to do some postering again tomorrow. Don't know which area yet though...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still watching Eddie's page every day, several times a day! Maybe as you say someone has taken him in - lots of posters, like Digby - borders are such appealing dogs aren't they? wishing you all the luck in the world. Stay safe Eddie! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well, as Tracy said, we were out for 2 hours looking in all the undergrowth. I fell down a hole, lol, only with 1 leg though. I escaped unhurt and that is where we discovered the pits that tracy mentioned. Then towards the end of the evening we came across a Badger set of some sort. I haven't got a clue wheather it is still in use, im not clued up on that sort of thing... No calls today at all, no one is coming forward, this leads me to believe that someone has got Eddie and is intending on keeping him without notifying anyone. Either that or he is a bloody good hider. lol.... We just want Eddie to come home now, it has been over 2 weeks since he went missing and nothing has materialised from my posters hardly.... I am not giving up though. It has been a nice sunny day here and hopefully it will stay like this long enough for me to get some posters up this week.. I think i will extend my area yet again...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well after 2 hrs of searching all the undergrowth where Eddie was last seen we found all the odd pits that are interlinked & all easily escapable. We found an old badger sett that doesn't appear to be in use anymore but out of the way from where Eddie went missing & not in the direction he would probably have gone. He really does just appear to have vanished. He's in Countrymans Weekly this week & hope something positive comes from that. Will be renewing posters once this rains stops as it is ruining the print & the tape. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just you wait- string indeed- I've got some bright orange rope- you think I'm making that mistake again you are very much mistaken. At least we've had a laugh in between all the searching. I'm ok for about 5pm, Pam's going to let me know where she wants to meet up & can meet you in same layby as last time -unless you coming up in jeep & in that case meet you just in woods. Think checking more where he actually disappeared will put all our minds totally at rest regarding fox/badger holes. I know you have been over & over the area & dont think you will have missed anything. If we work in sections (me being attached to the rope of course) we will be doubly sure. Warned Pam to put wellies on- if this rain doesn't stop we'll be wading to meet up anyway. See you in a bitLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi Pam, yes that would be very helpful, we can then maybe split up and work our way around woods near where Eddie went missing and have a really good luck under all bushes etc.... I think after 3pm would be a good time, as it will be quieter and can hear better if any noises. I totally agree with you Pam, i think we should attach Tracy to a rope, just in case, lol....... Ring me tomorrow and we will arrange a proper time to meet up. The best place to meet is in the layby on Main rd fromGt Houghton to brierley, Tracy knows where it is.... Thanks Pam and Tracy... We should be able to go out to the woods to help you search tomorrow too if you would like us to. We have to go somewhere in the morning so we cant make it till mid/later afternoon or early evening . If you read this Tracy can you text me with any times etc. Do you think Tracy needs some string tied to her in case she gets lost again Georgina ? Then we can just reel her back in again lol Went through Cudworth/ Lunwood on the bus again today and think some posters have gone especially from bus shelters. Pam xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, The prank calls are something that i just have to deal with, Thankfully it was only yesterday. I haven't recieved any call's today at all... I think that going back to the woods would be a great idea tracy, im going to leave something with a scent there again, and maybe some dog biscuits... Lets hope we get some news soon. All my posters in Darfield and Ardsley are still there thankfully.. I don't know about Grimethorpe, Cudworth and Lundwood though as i haven't been through for a couple of days now..... Ring me tomorrow Tracy and we will arrange a time when is suitable for you to meet up... Thanks very much everyone for your support... Come home soon Eddie x x x x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gina if you want to meet up again tomorrow & go back to where he went missing & re-walk all the area James has already done I can meet up with you. I'll leave the nutter at home with Skye so at least my arms will be empty. I' d hate to think we've missed something under our noses. After been in the woods the other side of the road I can easily see why no one has seen him. Been at work again today, not long been back from the usual Sat boring stuff. Glad that some of the posters are still up, that is a relief. Just unfortunate that nobody has rang. Not 1 phone call, not even from Chronicle readers. I had a very abusive prank call on my mobile today, not once but 3 times, probably the same people. They are so childish. Im really surprised that i haven't had an calls like this before now as my posters have been everywhere for nearly 2 weeks now. It is their call time they are using, not mine, i just left the phone on the table and they were talking to themselves. lol...I am keeping positive and just hope we hear some news soon, it is worrying me that i haven't had any calls for a week now...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I saw the 'lost ad' for Eddie in the Barnsley chronicle today and lets hope somone sees it that can give news of Eddie . Had to go to Cudworth today and noticed there are still quite a few of Eddies posters up which is good unlike the ones at Shafton Crossroads which I keep on replacing!! Grrrrrr ! While in Cudworth I saw a VERY distressed Akita/ akita cross and am most upset that I was unable to catch her. She was terrified of everyone, in and out of traffic, very thin and had had puppies not too long ago. Poor thing ! Come home Eddie xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi Pam, yes we have been to the farm's on that road, that is where the owner of GSD's lives who contacted Tracy for us. They are looking out for Eddie as is half of Barnsley, lol. James's parents went to a cricket match in Darfield last night and were approached several times by people asking if we had found Eddie.None of these people were informed about Eddie or that we were the owners so the word must be getting round fast. I brightened up my evening knowing that more and more people are aware of Eddie being missing. Come home soon Eddie we miss you loads and loads Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can quite imagine how Tracy got herself lost in those woods as they are quite vast! I did have a giggle about it though lol On the road that runs out to Great Houghton from Brierley/ Grimethorpe I noticed there are one or two remote farms and private houses with not much to say they are there except a track from the road and wonder if they have been approached about Eddie. It is a possibility that someone living somewhere remote like this could have taken Eddie in and not seen any of the posters if they dont go into Grimethorpe etc. Hopefully there will be some news of Eddie tomorrow when the Barnsley Chronicle is out .Come on home Eddie your family are missing you like crazy ! On the bus home from Barnsley tonight I noticed some of the posters you put up in Lunwood have been ripped off but some thankfully are still intact Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i was all too happy to help after all you have done to help us try and find eddie and putting up posters for us. I was in the bath and tracy rang and told me she was lost in woods. If a person can get lost in these woods then it is so easy for a dog to. Thank god tracy had a phone, she could have been lost 4 ages. I thought it was hilarious actually but on a serious note if James didn't know his way around the woods then she could have been in trouble.... still no phone calls today i have paid for an advertisment in BarnsleyChronicle again and Barnsley Independant which is a free paper and gets delivered from Darfield all the way to the other side of Barnsley, which includes Cudworth and Lundwood, Monk Bretton and Shafton. I don't think Grimethorpe get it but anyone who buy's the chronicle will see it if they r looking..... Lets just hope that when it goes in paper on friday we get some calls.... I have postered literally everywhere within a 7 mile circle but haven't recieved 1 call since saturday, "the call about dog in monk bretton". I really do believe that if someone had seen him they would have rang up. There is alot of genuine people out there but unfortunately for us there is alot of not so nice people too. Come home soon Eddie bear we are missing you like mad....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A very public THANKYOU to Gina & Eddie, being stupid as I am I decided to take my own two dogs for a walk through Howell Woods. After catching the deranged dog in the car park(mine I hasten to add that jumped out of the car when parked & took off) we set off for a nice walk. We followed 'Eddie' posters to start then followed the arrows on the trees- how was I supposed to know they were for the horseriders- I've only been in woods once before- (with Gina,James dogs & Eddie posters) Before I knew it hadn't a clue where I was & now about 8.30. Rang Gina got her out of the bath, told her I was lost-along came James gave him some details & he told me what way to go. They even came upto the woods to meet me.! Only some one who knows there way through these woods would have known how to help so to both of you THANKYOU. I know you 'Eddied' just about everything not moving & only after tonight can I really appreciate just how vast an area of woodland that he could be in- it's miles. I'm still here to help whenever I can- maybe not alone in the woods- not sure if I'd get back out again. Will do bridlepath in Hemsworth again tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi Pam, yes we have been back every day except today. We have left a sock on a very low branch very well balanced, now the sock has fallen off the branch but that doesn't mean it was Eddie. We have been in the woods with Ellie's squeeky toys that Eddie loves to destroy bless him. James is going to go back tomorrow and leave something else near to where he was last seen. I have been out all evening until 9.30 putting up posters. I have replaced all the posters in Brierley, Cudworth and Lundwood which may i add had all been removed, every single 1. All my posters are still on grange lane. There is a poster on Stairfoot Roundabout. Ardsley is Postered and also some of Doncaster Rd in Darfield, unfortunately i ran out of tape. B & Q at stairfoot has a poster near and also McDonalds Drive Thru lol, right where people drive in to order food. I have put a poster in literally every bus stop in cudworth and lundwood. Lets just hope we get some calls tomorrow. It is now time for Eddie to come home to his mummy and daddy and his little sister who is calling for him every day still. x x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Its very strange there are no sightings of Eddie. It makes me think he has either been taken in by someone or has got stuck in a hole. Georgina, have you returned to the actual point you lost him at and left items with your scent on ? You also need to go back to this point every so often just in case he is hiding nearby in bushes waiting for you to return. Come on Eddie its time to go back to your family. Strange there has been no sightings but this is an area covered by lots of arable land- little livestock, horses nearby which would provide food & warm place to sleep. When we walked thorugh woods there are very few rabbit holes- that was a relief to start with but now wondering where on earth he has gone. Gina & James have crossed just about every inch of the woods in the last week, we 've been back out- there's posters throughout all the woods and bridlepaths. I cannot think where else to possibly start to look. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi, we have searched the woods from top to bottom literally, and some friends have been walking their dogs there purposly to look too, my cousins boyfriend spent all day saturday with his mate searching the woods, he very clued up on thyis area too. Eddie has never been "to Ground" but you never really no if they will or not. I think he has gone chasing a bitch in season. There is only really 2 outcomes, he is either stray still or someone has got him. Or god forbid he is dead somewhere but i am not really thinking about that. I just want Eddie home safely, the local radio DEARNE FM have been fantastic, they have aired it every day but nobody has come forward.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Georgina - still watching for news of Eddie - sorry to hear you got a bad reception from the local station - we had that problem too. I am afraid you have to develop a bit of a thick skin to get past all that. Some are a lot more helpful however, and some must be dog owners too! Hoping for good news soon. hello again, i rang round all the police stations again today, Barnsley took my number as i was persistent that in my enquiry, he said that he would double check and then let mne know, surely they should have a lost and found register and stick to it. This is outragious. I also rang Cudworth local station as Eddie could be around that area and the officer was very unpleasant and told me that any dogs would be reported to Barnsley not there, I was only asking him a question, i felt there was no need to be so rude. Everywhere is closed now and i just feel like it has been a waste of day as i have been working until 6.15pm. James has gone on yet another walk with our Jack Russell Terrier and our 2 Springer Spaniels to see if he can find Eddie. I still can't believe that Eddie ran off even with our 3 other dogs there who unfortunatley couldn't trace where he had gone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Georgina, just wanted to add to the previous posting about pestering! My father in laws dog went missing in Romford, reported to the police immediately - he was taken into the police station within a day and shipped off to Battersea. Nobody put two and two together - Battersea was thirty miles away and we had no idea that he would be taken to the other side of London. We learned from doglost that Battersea was a possibility and phoned and located him just over a week after he went missing. We spent a whole Christmas worrying about him. Battersea are excellent but I personally wouldn't assume that any rescue centre is going to be 100% all the time. Anyone can make a mistake and a dog could slip through the net. x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

went for a drive round Grimethorpe area again this afternoon looking for Eddie and also put some more posters up there. Put one by the lake opposite the 'Sash' factory. Also did some more postering in Cudworth. Georgina, notifying the police of lost/found dogs seems to be very much a lottery ! For example we had an Akita reported 'lost' in Cudworth by the owners and the finders reported it as' found' yet the police failed to make any connection or else had never bothered to log the reports in the first place and I have seen this sort of thing happen time and time again with other dogs on this site. So dont rely on the police to let you know if Eddie is reported as found ............. keep on pestering them !! Come on Eddie its time to come home xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi pam, yes the lady did report it to the police yesterday dinner time but amazingly i rang at about 6pm regarding the dog and the reception said that nobody had rang up...Do the police actually make notes when people ring up regarding a found dog??? It didn't seem so yesterday. I have given her the number for south yorkshire lost anf found and she has reported it as a lady rang me this morning from lost n found to let me know about the dog being a bitch... Not sure if any postering has been done in the area of Cudworth that you get to by going up a road next to the Star Pub so going to go there this afternoon and poster there if needed. I Have only been that way once before but am sure it links across to the fields that stretch to Grimethorpe. I'm really getting fed up with people that pull our posters down and yesterday when Neil was replacing one that was torn off a bus shelter in Grimethorpe a youth was shouting a load of abuse from a bedroom window opposite so no doubt he went out and tore it down as soon as we had gone ! I feel like lying in wait to catch the morons that do this redhanded and telling just what I think of them !! Thats me off my soapbox lol ! I wonder if the lady at the garage that has taken the lost terrier type dog home with her has reported it to the police, dog warden, cliffe kennels and taken it to vets to check for chip etc ? She really should do !!! It must have an owner out there looking for it (hopefully !) Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Going to try get back to Howell Woods later with my two dogs for tonights walk- will take more posters-thought about stapling them to fishing pegs as if Eddies still in the woods it will be a good place for free food. hi pam, iv seen quite a few torn down in grimethorpe too, you would think that these people had better things to do with their time.. They must be most pleased with theirself for doing this. Never mind, I am going back out next week and will go round again putting them back up, they can't get rid of me that easily... Had a telephone call this morning reporting a sighting at a petrol station in monk bretton near round about. The man went to the garage and the dog had already been taken.. Who knows if it was Eddie or not. Later this evening i had another call from the posters i had put up today. The man also mentioned hearing of the sighting at monk bretton and described Eddie as the dog. I went to the garage with a picture but the poeple who were working earlier had gone home. I am going to go back tomorrow and chase this 1 up as 2 people ringing abou the same thing is quite interesting. Maybe we will have some luck tomorrow. fingers crossedLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

walked areas around Grimethorpe this afternoon and also drove down a track in Great Houghton as far as safe for our car to go and then walked down some tracks there. On driving through Grimethorpe it was most annoying to see the number of posters that had been torn down leaving just the sticky tape or were just dangling having been half pulled off. We re-stuck as many as we could rescue and also replaced quite a few that had gone altogether untill we ran out of posters. Also did some more in Shafton but notice some we had done on previous days have again be torn down !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The lady was very helpful and took about a dozen posters off me to give to the riders which is great as they exercise them around fields near cudworth. Also been to Edderthorpe lane riding stables and given a woman some posters for the riders who rent out the stables. good to get him in the papers that quick, bearing in mind where the phone calls are coming from- the South Hiendly one may be the one we spoke about yesterday, Barnsley is a way for him to have gone & think he will have stayed around the areas he knows, poster around your area as well, maybe the little brown dog chasing the bitch was him. I'm ok for this weekend if you let me know when you want to go.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Eddie is in Barnsley Chronicle today and i have had 3 calls already with possible sightings. The first call he was seen at Lundwood which is about a 20min walk from Grimethorpe across a bridle. James went there straight away and couldn't see him, he asked a passer by and he said that he had seen a dog about 10.30am on the same road. The second call was from a man in Barnsley town centre... I think that could be a mistake though... Then third call was from a woman at South Hiendley near Brierley she thought she saw a dog matching Eddie's description on Wednesday morning but hasn't seen him since. This has made me feel much better knowing that people are ringing up. Come home soon Eddie.... Fingers Crossed yet again.,......Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been out across Howell Woods tonight- the dog in Cliffe Kennels turned out to be a bitch- would have thought they knew difference bewteen male/female. Gina got call whilst we were out in woods to say that a small brown dog had been seen but ran off. No way of knowing if it was Eddie or not - caller said it was sml brown dog & they've seem poster & looked like him. Postered around wood- Gina & James are experts now, took other dogs back into wood but nothing to be seen. This is vast area of wood land, anyone with google earth try having a look at Howell Woods, lie in between Brierley, Clayton, South Elmsall- 1 road across takes you onto Grimethorpe Woods- these spread from Brierley to Great Houghton & White City. Miles of woodland, bridlepaths, animal smells . Just waiting for postive sighting -everywhere is posted. Gina- dont forget to do where you live- you never know Speak to you again soon. been searching again all afternoon, put up posters in Brierley, and Grimethorpe Red city. searched woods again seen bikers they said they will keep an eye out. Barnsley council left a message on answer machine when we returned home said a Border Terrier has been took to Cliffe Kennels, found in Hoyland, can't get hold of Kennels by phone they aren't answering so we are just going to set off now and see if it is Eddie. The Council said the dog looked about 7 years old but i am going to look just in case. You never know so fingers crossed x x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi, internet back up and running and bt line ok now thank god. Tracy missunderstood what i wrote last night in my text. We were out putting posters up till 10pm and we heard howling coming from a house, i thought it sounded like Eddie so i knocked on their door to ask if they knew anything. Unfortunately the dogs i heard weren't Eddie but the lady looked at my photographs and posters and said she thought she had seen Eddie near Junior and infant school in grimethorpe with other dogs chasing a bitch in season. She told me the name of the bitch's owner and address so i went there to find out if she had possibly seen Eddie. Her house backs straight onto the woods near where Eddie went missing on Sunday but the owner wasn't in unfortunately. The husband was in but he didn't have a clue what i was talking about so we are going back again today to see if we can speak to her. The new posters is fantastic, it is much clearer and better, hopefully will get some calls today.... I don't know of any local dog training centre's but i will get onto that 1 today.... Come home soon little Eddie we miss you. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On the way home from work today I took a poster into the vets and 2 pet shops in Cudworth. It was 'hissing' down with rain and I managed to do some bus shelters which were dry inside but will go back tonight or tomorrow to do some telegraph poles when hopefully I will be able to find some dry surfaces to stick them to ! Have to go over to Hemsworth tonight on follow up work for the missing dogue de bordeaux puppies so will pop spome posters up for Edddie in that area too. Will print up some flyers too and for the next few days I have transport so will be going over to Grimethorpe woods area to walk and search for Eddie. Make sure Grimethorpe is plastered with posters in case someone has taken him in. Georgina keep trying to get press coverage! The Cudworth Star has carried stories before about missing dogs and also try the Yorkshire evening post they have been very helpful as well. Do as Keelah suggests and push the 'our dog went missing on my birthday' angle ! if you need any further help contact me ! Pam xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Georgina - don't give up hope! Are you well postered in the area? You need absolutely loads and loads of posters - I saw your message on Digby's page - if someone has taken him in with a view to keeping him, if they see that there are posters everywhere they won't be able to hold on to him. Lots of dogs have been reunited because they got to be too hot to handle. It really is true - I can think of lots that have been returned because of that. There were two black labs recently - had been missing for quite a while and then mysteriously reappeared on the doorstep late one night. A schnauzer was chucked back over a gate late one night - there are so many - have a read of some of the reunited stories! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

rang the barnsley chronicle yesterday, the reporter took some details and said that he would see what he could to. didn't sound promising though, i have rang the local radio dearne fm, and they have details but as yet i haven't heard an announcement. I rang them on monday so thought i would have heard by now. Has anyone got any advice as to what we can do now???Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

thankyou tracy for coming and helping tonight, i am feeling a little more reassured now, just hope Eddie is ok. As you have mentioned my daughter Ellie is missing him also, she is asking for him all the time, she is only just 2 and so they have grown up together. This is his 3rd night on his own now, missing since Sunday, my birthday... Horrid present this was. Anyone who lives in local area ie Clayton, Gt Houghton, Hemsworth etc please look out for him. I am going to get in touch with some people i know who walk in this area with dogs, hopefully they will help... Be safe Eddie x x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As Gina said we've been out tonight, massive area to cover luckily Pel has quad & jeep so has been out rightly or wrongly looking for him using quad. Not a lot of rabbit holes I'm pleased to say but there are quite a few 'pits' these are rectangle holes anything from couple of ft wide & long to 5ft long A 3 ft deep. Gina & James have put in loads of effort & staying positve considering. There will be lots of different things that he can eat & water available. Heavily postered area from where he went missing out towards Grimethorpe End of woods but we really need horse riders & working terrier group/ sniffer dogs on this. Miles of woodland/open track although he is used to the woods & could easily make his way towards home when he's had enough of chasing hares & squirrels. I've got better picture showing his face but scanner wont work- tried to photograph it but quite blurred- going to try get to Pam tomorrow & get her to scan it but am meeting owners of GSD's missing to follow up some info on them. If any other helpers either live in WF9 4 area or WF10 4 area plse let me know- need to get this other photo scanned asap. In meantime Pam doing posters from Shafton -Cudworth side. Owners doing around local village- Grimethorpe already done- woods postered & given them flyers to hand out. I will get Farm shop & local post office done tomorrow. Hope this little fella is home soon & will probably wonder what all the fuss is about. Owners daughter has been brought up with dog & missing him. Once better photo sent in wonder if Keelah can work her charms on Countrymans Weekly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoke to owner and they were about to set off for another search for Eddie. So far no sightings of him at all since he went missing. They have been back searching in the woods he disappeared in many times and have taken their other dog with them in the hope they pick up Eddie's scent. Not far away is another even larger wood and he could have wandered across to them. Will get posters up in main road in Shafton in bus shelters on the Grimethorpe route and also Pet shops and Vets in Cudworth as a lot of people from Grimethorpe travel to Cudworth for shopping. Come home soon Eddie Pam xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postman (go to sorting office), milkmen, refuge collectors, taxi drivers, schools, youth clubs, pubs, takeaway shops, dog training clubs and deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. Check Police stations and Dog Warden. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Eddie. xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jazzi got onto site for me as I mailed a few people late on last night. If posters can be sent it would help as I'm at work & big boss back today so risk been caught-oops. Owners very worried as disappeared in woods & not seen or heard since. They are going out again this afternoon when Georgina finishes work- I'm metting them later after i've finished. Txt her to get some plastic wallets & sellotape ready.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jazzi for getting this one on for me- owners have been out for hours looking where he went missing- checking for rabbit/fox holes & ditches as we've had a lot of rain around here. They have also put some posters. I'm going to meet up with them later after work. Owners of GSD's know about him been missing & they are not far from woods. Jumanji & some others been made aware. Will get posters printed during day ready for later but will be blk/white as no colour printer at work. Any bike riders & horse riders that can help please do. He's not gone missing before & literally disappeared. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
