- Very sad to report that William's body has been found on the railway lines. His owner is on his way to collect him.
Sue has asked me to thank everybody for their help in searching and putting up posters.
R.I.P sweetheart. - 2015-01-11 15:28 Lesley (ID84584)
- I lived in Peterborough and never heard of holme wood, just towns and villages. Would it not be a good idea to mention them? PE7 I think whittlesey, Coates etc? People will definitely know these areas

- If there is a chance someone has picked William up, can you please take a poster to the Post Office that delivers the mail to the houses in the area, also to the newsagents who deliver papers, ask them to ensure that the post men and paper delivery persons are aware of him. Also take posters to the schools - the children love to play detective and be nosy. These are the people who are likely to see him, nobody can keep him hidden for ever. Come on William lets get you home please.

- duffs54 like you I'm just trying to help but as I understand it he went missing from the first parking bay on the left from Yaxley. He was with several other dogs and was found to be missing almost as soon as they went through the gate. Therefore it's possible he wandered off down the road and never actually went into the wood. It begins to look as though he may have been picked up but please lets all keep looking. He must be out there somewhere. Stay safe little man.

- We sometimes walk our dog here, there are at least 3 separate wooded area's, lakes etc and several places to park. It's not clear was the dog lost from their house and wandered towards the woods or was he lost from a walk in the woods, which area of the holme fen was he last seen like others have said the area is vast. If I finish work before it gets dark will try and get over there. xx shared on FBLast edited: 2015-01-11 08:20:52 by duffs54

- It seems a possibility that William wandered off before he even got into the woods. Someone could have picked him up - but please... if you did, let us know!!! If not he could still be wandering anywhere around the area. Please keep looking for him. love you William - stay safe little man.xxx

- Admin may I suggest you also send alerts out to PE28 postcode - I live in PE28 and there are a number of villages as little as 4 miles from Holme. Hubby farms in area lost and he is aware but as previous poster said this is a very vast area with many deep filled drains around.Last edited: 2015-01-09 16:35:19 by The girls!

- I've been there today with my two Shelties but no sign of him. Where William went missing covers an area of 1500 Hectares so please anyone walking there dogs in Holme Woods keep looking for him. There are posters and phone No's on every entrance. We'll try again over the W/E. Stay safe little man.

- Google the area where he went missing from, look for a source of fresh water, He will need water before he goes looking for food.

- This is the advice given By RAYDEN - which has helped to get Shelties home. - They very quickly go into survival mode and are extremely hard to find.
a feeding station is vital to keep this little lady in the area!!! if she was seen inthe field adjacent to the track, then it needs a drag trail all around the perimeter and around the perimeter of any other places she was sighted.. especialy gateways and gaps where she,s been seen going through HAPPILY not chased, also drag around the resevoirs but make sure that they ALL lead back to a chosen site for the trap..for a suitable drag trail i use a bucket sized container, with a fitted lid.i boil up greasy breast of lamb, chicken, throw in a couple of tins of butchers tripe mix (tripe mix is best)plenty of water.and i then use a pillow case on a dog lead.. dipping it in to the mixture i walk my perimeters and obviously redipping every 50 yards or so..but a good idea is to drop say a nice spoonfull of the tripe or a bit of chicken, just to get em excited!!! it works.. but remember 4 very important things..1 all trails must lead to an area that you choose, idealy where you can be sat quietly in a car a safe distance from the trap. 2.. if you stumble across the dog you are after say nothing at all ..about turn and run away, taking all pressure off the dog you could let it see you throw something away, as though it was your chip paper or Mc Donalds junk.keep going and still head for your trap site.. 3..the trap site should contain the best of QUALITY food not a few bonio,s or dried complete food, cooked chicken,, liver etc. and very important COVER it using a piece of old carpet or an old sack, this stops the crows and magpies nicking it. the drag trail will last up to 24 hrs..but keep checking the trap station with the good stuff.. and finally 3..i have found that after 48hrs fear takes over the best of dogs and they are to frightened to go to anyone this includes the owner!! and thats scarey..DON,T look at them, speak to them, just have that lump of good food in tissue paper ,so they can see you throw it either towards them or by them .. then retreat!! i have tried to get in touch with Andy but perhaps someone could pass this on to whoever is trying to cach POPPY. another MEGA important thing is to make sure the trap is not only big enough but strong enough to hold what ever sized dog you are after..NEVER EVER leave a trap set unattended!!! you can catch cats other peoples animals,, and if the dog you are after see,s a trapped animal in that cage, trust me they all send out the same message and it will keep well away... i hope some of this will be of use to you good people on DOG LOST UK because thats what you are...that JAYNE LADY from head office has started something QUITE UNIQUE here and whats most important!!! IT FLIPPIN WELL WORKS!!! - 2015-01-09 10:17 Riverlady

- I have spoken to the lady who was looking after William. He disappeared on a walk in the woods about 4 miles from where she lives. William is 11 years old and isn't used to woodland, he is more of a townie.
I will email all local information and advice sheets and request twitter. Details added to Doglost Cambs Facebook page.Last edited: 2015-01-08 21:33:27 by AlisonH
