- There is a petition online to review fireworks, which can cause distress to pets: potential injuries too, I signed it yesterday. change.org.uk Julie Doorne.Last edited: 2018-10-31 13:03:25

SPARROWHAWK PUB, OLD SOUTHPORT ROAD, FORMBY L37 0AB - 2018-10-29 22:09 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- CROSS POSTED from SUSAN RATCLIFFE (ZOE’s OWNER)
If anyone is available tomorrow morning at around 11am we would like as many people as we can to do a wide search down past the sparrow hawk pub down the old Southport road towards the wooded area. I have had a phone call tonight from a gentleman who thought he could hear faint barking in that dense area and thought if we could get together and see if it’s Zoe. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you. Susan - 2018-10-29 21:37 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West

The owners of a frightened two year old Shih Tzu who ran away after being spooked by fireworks while they were staying in Southport have launched a desperate appeal to find her.
Former sheet metal worker Frank Ratcliffe, 65, and his retired teaching assistant wife Susan, 67, were staying at the Willowbank Caravan Park on the Coastal Road when their beloved pet Zoe was startled and ran away shortly after 8.30pm on Friday, October 26 - – and there have been no sightings of her since. She is black and white with brown markings, not familiar with the area and very shy – and may run away if approached. She is microchipped, spayed and was wearing a collar and tag.
Susan told the Champion that the couple were due to return home to Burnley on Monday, October 29 – but can't bear the thought of leaving their much-loved dog 'alone, frightened and cold somewhere she doesn't know.'
She has set up a page on social media site, called Zoe Missing in Ainsdale and she is appealing for people to check their outdoor buildings including sheds as she fears she could be sheltering somewhere and have become trapped.
She said: “Fireworks are an absolute nuisance, they frighten people's animals and now our poor Zoe is alone, frightened and lost in the cold, it makes me feel sick when I think about it.
“Please, please help us to find her – we are due to go home but I can't leave without her. She's a huge part of our family and we love her so much – please help us.”
If you have seen Zoe, don't approach her and instead, call Susan on 07783471261 or 07891875839.
