Mrs london
Thanks for info re site where lost-I know where you mean. May be useful to put that on posters -I will add in pen!
Mrs london
Will get onto it tomorrow and have a search in the area with my spaniel. How worrying. X

Mrs London, thank you for helping. I agree with the barbecue suggestion.
Marie
Hi Karen, thank you so for your help, we have only concentrated on putting posters up where he went missing so haven't done any pubs or anything. He actually went missing in the woods next to the car park. You walk along the grass path near picnic benches not the mud path. Excellent idea about the bbq, if he is still down the hole he will be hungry by now. Will try that tomorrow.
Mrs london
Also, if the owner is fairly sure of the area in which lost it may be wise for her to leave some clothing with her scent on it (and maybe info attached so that people don't pick it up) nearby....and leave food too. if anyone can stay in the area with a portable bbq and cook sausages it may lure him back (or out) -I have heard this often works by appealing to the strongest sense (of smell) and can help concentrate a frightened, lost dog's mind. Here's hoping..... X

I have work tomorrow but will head out with posters on Thursday if not found and will also alert vet in Helmsley. Will take poster to the gliding club too if you haven't already done it. Has anyone got posters to the visitor centre at Sutton bank? Or in the pub at Kilburn? Can you confirm the exact area in which he went missing....was it at the top of the horse, on the bank leading back to Sutton bank or at the bottom near the car park? Or in the woods off the car park? Sorry, lots of questions but no point in duplicating poster venues and it helps to know the exact area from which to work outwards from. I have alerted a local dog walker who has passed on the message to all her clients in the area....like me, she often walks in the woodland areas near Wass. They are logging up there at the moment so will give posters to any workmen I see. If he is stuck ( God forbid) he may wriggle free or find another exit if not injured.......its stating the obvious but he will come more readily to his owner 's voice if she can get up there. At least if someone else finds him he is chipped so can be reunited...... Fingers crossed. Let me know asap re posting info and area to concentrate on. Karen x

Elaine is adamant he went down it, my friend and I have walked for miles looking all around as the sett is a massive one and if he has come out a different hole we wanted to check out surrounding paths. You are right it is a massive area.
Hollieberry
This is a vast area for a dog to be lost are you sure he went down a Badger sett ?
Marie
Mrs London, thank you, we are in York and work so are going back when we can. Elaine is the actual owner but wouldn't know how to do this poster which is why I have done it. Sadly he went down a badger sett so he could be anywhere underground. Just don't know what to think. Don't know the area at all either.Last edited: 2016-02-23 20:12:02 by Marie
Mrs london
Do you live close by? If not I will take posters to gliding club for you and put up in Helmsley car park and garage. X
Mrs london
Im in Helmsley, a couple of miles away.....have you posters up in and around the town? Am walking in was woods nearby later, will keep an eye out....
Sharon
On Google Maps there looks to be a gliding club fairly close by. Might be worth making them aware and dropping a poster off as they might have a few members who use the road who could keep a look out.
DogLostOwl
Marie, can you get a poster to the sorting office so the posties know? Also shops, filling stations, fast food places and snack vans? I don't know the area at all but will take a look at satellite map later on and see if anything else occurs to me. I assume it's rural so let stables and riders know in case they spot him when out and about.
Marie
Thank you for this. Much appreciated. We have put up lots of posters and off out again this afternoon.

Gino is amending postcode and will send out new alerts. Owner's daughter tells me Pup ran off after a deer with the family's other dogs, and they all came straight back except pup. There is a badger sett nearby and there are concerns in case Pup fell down a hole. The fire brigade are involved. But please look everywhere in area in case he didn't but has got lost. I couldn't get through on first number but did on the second.

Well spotted JewelsK and thank you. Have just spoken with owner and will correct postcode now.

Hi, is the post code correct for this one? There's no White Horse in the DE56 Kilburn, but there is a White Horse (as in a chalk one) at Kilburn in North Yorks - postcode for up there is YO61. Good luck with finding Pup, best wishes, Julie x
