SO pleased. Well done Falcore for staying away from the nasty trains, and then for getting out. And well done Shelag and co for supporting owner. So very pleased with this outcome, was starting to lose hope. Glad he has no permanent damage. Bet he is getting lots of sunday cuddles!

So pleased to hear that Falcore does not have any long term problems following his visit to the Vets.
SHELAGH you have been brilliant, can you now help MARLEY 94869 reading the posts, the poor owner has been walking the streets crying for her dog and there have not been many shares. Any help you can give her as a professional, I am sure would be gratefully appreciated. EVERYONE please follow Marley. Xxxx

Oh, fantastic news! I had tears in my eyes earlier reading this thread and now I have tears for a much happier reason :-) Well done to everyone who helped get him home in some way, including the people at the garden centre who took the time to entice him in with treats. Such lovely news on a cold day xxx

Fantastic news, welcome home Falcore.
Shelagh
Update: Falcore is back from vets and amazingly has no long term problems. He has fleas ,ticks, bad skin, little injury to neck, and is malnourished. Owner says he is fine in himself and I'm sure delighted to be home. It seems he found a level crossing and got out through there and ran to the garden centre.Blessxx

A huge well done Shelagh and Ron as you have worked so hard on this one and a big Thank you to Michelle who rang this morning to ask if she could help locally and then liased with Shelagh....what a relief all round!
Holly
Just great to hear he is now safe, such a worry when they are anywhere near the railway
Shelagh
Just to be clear my role in Falcore return was purely advisory. Myself and Ron were actually on phone to helper Michelle when she told me he had been spotted running into garden centre,we were arranging where best to meet her tonight. While I have been advising owner and offering support it was Falcore himself, probably fed up of waiting for us to "rescue" him,who managed to get of tracks.

Phew, what a relief. Welcome home lovely Falcore, stay very safe now. Many thanks to all involved in his capture xxx

DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Thanks for message Shelagh i was not on line so now back I can read all the updates.
Re post from Jayelle this was definately the same dog on the tracks so there are no more running loose there.
Await the updates once he is back from the vets.
Well done the garden center for phoning owners and keeping him there with treats!
Well done all those who helped and supported the owner especially Shelagh who has been there for the owner.

If anything can be passed on from all this it shows the importance of keeping everyone updated by posting on this doglost page. When facebook pages are set up and many get involved it is often very hard to keep up to date with everything as facebook shares are made so more comments made.Facebook is brilliant in spreading the word but not everyone has it or uses it so the main point of contact must be the page set up for the missing dog and this is where updates need to be made.

BRILLIANT RESULT WELL DONE ALL !!!
JulieH
Phew! what a relief, so pleased Falcore is safe and hopefully none the worse for his adventure :)

Jayelle, yes I suspect there is always a place animals can get on tracks, especially when alleyways or even just pedestrian routes enter the station platforms. But at least it does mean the fence is secure, so dogs loose outside the fence should be safe. This is always a worry. But thank goodness this boy is now safe. X

BRILLIANT news I've been watching daily. Well done I bet his owner is over the moon xx

Thank the Lord! Our prayers were all answered last night. I truly believe that sometimes just the force of will creates enough energy for a good thing to happen. Each and everyone of you willing Falcore to safety, played a part. Well done Falcore for getting yourself safe and to the garden centre who did amazing ly well. Shelagh, I know this sweet boy's plight took its toll on you. You did good. Welcome home Falcore, we all love you. Jade, let us know he gets on at vets. X

What brilliant news, my prayers were answered. Well done to everyone involved in saving Falcore, his very young owner must be over the moon, as are all of us that have been following this story. Praying he comes out of the vets with not too much damage done other than being totally traumatised. Stay safe now you VERY SPECIAL BOY. Xxxxxxxx

Well done to all who have helped bring falcore home!!!
Wonderful news!!!
charlie and sooty
A BIG well done to Shelagh, as you have worked so hard and spend hours with helping to get Falcore to safety. Thank you and a great job xx
Skywalker99
Great news, although this would have been so much easier if network rail had co-operated from the start rather than doing stuff from afar....without co-operation from them developing a proper plan would have been impossible. I know they get fined for late running etc but they are always able to argue extenuating circumstances.....
shelleyD
Wonderful news!! I was so worried he'd be too terrified to show himself again when I saw all that had been going on. So happy for his owner, she was really beside herself. Fingers crossed he isn't hurt or too traumatised by the whole experience x

What wonderful news, very well done to whoever was involved in such a successful result.
Does this possibly mean that the dog seen on the tracks was NOT Falcore and there is another dog trapped there? If it WAS him and he was able to get both on and off the tracks, does this mean there is a place where other animals can get onto the lines?
DogLostOwl
Thank you Shelagh. Congratulations to all involved in this tricky recovery.

Shelagh
Falcore has been caught! He went in a garden centre and owner and Michelle went to recover him. The garden centre people had enticed him in there using trats. He is on way to emergency vets now. I will update when I hear more.xx I'm sure we are all so thankful Falcore is safe. I've had a few sleepless nights over him
Shelagh
Hi it seems Falcore did not get through a hole but run down an alleyway on to platform and then track side. I have managed to find a local person who has agreed to help re a feeding station.I am meeting here and owner tonight.
Captain
Have been following this story since I was added to the group a week ago. The problem seems to be that when he has been seen either by owner or helpers no one can get to him because they cannot cross the railtracks. The owner commented on the group regarding sighting yesterday as follows: "He came near me he was staring at me for about 5 minutes he's trying to work out how to cross the rails to get to me" Falcore was lost near Chaucer Gardens, Sutton, SM1 (road near train line, halfway between West Sutton & Sutton Common Stns) so presumably there is/was some sort of access point near there that enabled him to get on the track?? There is a pinned post on top of the group page titled "TIMELINE OF SIGHTINGS & PHONE NUMBERS:" giving detail of sightings since 3rd November to yesterday. The owner/her helpers desperately need help to get safe access to Falcore when he is seen to be able to catch him.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
CJ and Shelagh are giving correct advice to owner and liasing with rail track.
BorderCol
Is it possible for us on DL site to know what the proper advice is that has been given to the owner? I quite understand that it may be in Falcore's best interests not to make that info public on here. However, if we did know then perhaps we might be able to help or at least not hinder?
HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
He may have got on the tracks from a platform on the station. All very confusing as he may have been sighted near some flats. If that's the case then he is getting on and off the tracks. It needs one experienced person to co-ordinate and do a organised search of the areaX

Doglover
Jayelle, I do not do Facebook, but was under the impression from this site that he got through the fence. Therefore, that is why I made that suggestion. If I was nearer and not in Essex, I would be there like a shot. Perhaps then he made his way onto the platform as do passengers and then just kept going after platform ended. Perhaps that is what owner could do if Network rail allowed. Why is there no Dog Warden following this up anyway and trying to help owner and we all know where Falcore is? X
BorderCol
From the description of his neck injuries and the loss of his collar, I wonder whether he got onto the tracks by some other means than taking himself in through a hole? Not sure what would have enticed him to want to go through anyway, even if he did happen to find a hole that no one can now find? If that is the case then perhaps the only away back out is to be trapped and lifted back up on to a platform? Would be nice to know what the correct advice is from DL so we can stop making suggestions which may be unhelpful or confusing.
shelleyD
Just seen this on Facebook, what a mess! Lots of terrible advice given to his poor owner, by well meaning but ill advised people. Hopefully she is now listening to Shelagh's advice. This poor boy must be terrified. I'm in Essex looking after my mum. Where in Essex are you Shelagh? I could probably leave my mum for hour or so if we could get a tag team to help you travel to Sutton. Alternatively what about trying Megan Clarkey Clarke who is East Sussex Co-ordinator to see if she can help?x
Doglover
Shelagh, Falcore must have got onto the tracks through a hole in the fence somewhere between the two stations. Is it possible for the owner to find where and then crawl through with his lead, because he will come to her?????? She can walk along and find him. Please god this happens today. X
Rach L
I'm a member of the FB group, I'll post a link to this page on there x
ClaireA
Thanks Shelagh, I'll join her Facebook group and offer help from there. Good to know he's getting some food. Are you not coming today now?
Heth
Is the main problem pinpointing where he is? I wonder if a drone might help.He needs to be found urgently, look at the weather.
Shelagh
I am in contact with owner and have advised her as to best way to recover Falcore Somebody is dropping food over fence and it is believed to be him eating it. Problem is nobody knows what time that is!.He is moving between at least three stations. If anybody local could help I will be more than willing to advise them how best to help owner. Owner has done everything possible and more to get her dog back and in fact has almost had him twice but each time he was scared off by members of public. Please if you live near there offer your help and support to owner. Retrieving Falcore will take a good number of hours and is better done by a local person.
Jot cotswolds
It seems owner probably isnt even looking at this doglost thread so no amount of handwringing here will be helping the dog. Is somebody who belongs to the facebook group crossposting useful help and suggestions from here over onto his fbook page to help messages get through to owner?
BorderCol
The owner is very young to be coping with a situation like this. Co ordinating and dealing with a lot of much older adults and people in authority is a big undertaking that may be too much for her.
Unknown
One of the problems about this case is that the owner has been taking the advice of lots of people making unrealistic and dangerous suggestions. Instead of coming to DogLost straight away there has been a very chaotic Facebook group without any organisation or leadership. Not all our volunteers are trained to deal with railway issues and our nearest available one is in Essex without her driver.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
As Dog lover said, please keep Falcore in your prayers. X
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Further down this thread owner states she is leaving food. Whether that is still the case, we don't know, but I am told there is food. We have no official co-ordinator available in this area at the current time, but we do have helpers. The fact that Shelagh is trying to get to this location all the way from Essex proves that DogLost volunteers go above and beyond. NR, the organisation, stated in Dogs Today magazine that they always stop trains for dogs, of course we know different. However, occasionally NR does have some kind employees who do whatever they can to assist, so we have to hope this is what happens. If we get further sighting, Wayne has said he will assist in trapping (scroll down to CJ's posts). So I would suggest that owner keep in contact with us so this can happen. Just need Falcore to stay safe. XLast edited: 2015-11-20 23:19:28 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Praying for a quick rescue, poor baby
Doglover
Have just read the story in the Sutton Guardian and it is breaking my heart. Please please save this poor dog if you are anywhere near the area. Use a line of people along the fence each with food to pass through if they see Falcore. He must be in such a terrible state poor little thing. I will pray tonight that he will be found tomorrow. X
Jot cotswolds
Network rail get fined thousands of pounds by train operators if rail lines are not kept open & running so they aren't going to halt line usage for a dog...and no amount of shouting will change that...so NR staff help needs to be harnessed in other ways. The posts here give no clear info on who, if anyone, is actually dropping physical help to the dog at most recent sighting locations..or does that still need doing? If so then poss network rail staff working on tracks can be asked to leave food, water and a shelter for the dog..as a start...and gradually direct the dog with food to an escape spot. Or..would they be willing to cut temporary exit spaces in fencing near to him etc...Last edited: 2015-11-20 21:18:06 by Jot cotswolds
Hollieberry
I totally agree with every thing you have said Jot Cotswolds .A big thank you to the people who have tried to get in touch with the media really hoping something gets done soon x
BorderCol
Am also confused Jot Cotswolds. I looked on Falcores facebook page which had very little on it this morning and nothing recent. I am hoping that the request from CJ below for helpers to step back means that a rescue is underway or definitely organised for tonight.
ClaireA
Ah right, thanks Nicky. I'm in Leatherhead so nowhere near Essex, though I may be able to pick her up from somewhere? What is she coming to do? Sorry, there are so many posts about this on Facebook I'm not sure what's happening and I can't see it here.Last edited: 2015-11-20 20:51:50 by ClaireA

ClaireA I think Shelagh needs to get from Chingford in Essex to Falcore near Sutton in Surrey & then home again. X
Jot cotswolds
Reading all these posts theres lots of people suggesting leaving food/scenting etc..but cannot see any posts confirming anyone has actually done these things. Can anyone who actually has communication with owner confirm actual things done..and where.. so local helpers can focus on what they might be able to usefully do to get help to the dog for its urgent needs like food and shelter? I cannot see what things have been actually dropped near to the dogs location or does foid still need dropping? Heartbreaking reading these updates getting nowhere..with what looks like any help not being able to get there until Sat'night if I read this right? Wondering if the Mayhews rescue section could help..they are brilliant.Last edited: 2015-11-20 20:08:43 by Jot cotswolds

Coming in late to this and would like to help - I think I've missed what transport is needed for Shelagh tomorrow - is it to drive her somewhere?
ClaireC
Sadly i am too far away to offer physical help but do so wish you good luck xx
BorderCol
Thanks for the link PAW. I noticed in the photo from the train that Falcore appears to be in front of a fence of vertical railings: let's hope that food and water can be delivered to him though that. The temperatures are expected to drop tonight so he will need food.
In the picture of him at home there is a wheelchair; is he the companion of a disabled person?

Well done everyone - it seems it worked, reading CJ's post. So, as CJ says we now need to let them work on it. I just hope they get it right. Perhaps there can now be some form of working relationship between the rail and dog owners here. Shelagh will do her best. Please keep safe Falcore.x
Doglover
Brilliant news to see that so many people are trying to help. I am too far away to help physically, but will send out positive thoughts that he can be found, the sooner, the better. Xx
Shelagh
I have given advice to owner and am more than happy to try to help her secure him, if I can get somebody to drive me there.

Please can we ask helpers take a step back on this one. Shelagh is already in contact with owner and also media. We need to know what others are doing before they take action so lease liaise.
Very recent actions without the knowledge of owner or doglost are now causing problems and we need cooperation from rail track to capture him and not action that will alienate them.

I have sent tweets to the 3 mentioned at 9am by Skywalker99.
Lots of sharing for Falcore on Twitter.
BorderCol
Have just quickly forwarded my email to Mark Carne on to the 3 Sutton Guardian email addresses given by Skywalker 99.
Will check back in tonight hoping for better news or inspiration as to what those too far away to help on site can do to assist this poor dog and owner.
PAW
I have messaged Falcore's owner on fb - with Skywalkers suggestions
BorderCol
Can anyone pass Skywalker99s suggestions at 09:00 today to the DL helpers that have posted on other pages and who have been so effective at using Twitter to help other dogs. I don't know who they are but no sign of them yet on here. I am teaching all day and can't do any more until tonight. Probably of no further use anyway as don't do Twitter.
After this, I will learn.

Not sure if this would be appropriate or would even work, but Paddy and Nelson's owner was contacted by someone senior in NWR who was going to look into what happened after they disgraced themselves with P&N, perhaps that same person could help now if anyone knows who it is?

I've e-mailed this link to Mailbox at The Mirror - let's see if they do anything for a bit of publicity.
BorderCol
What would be the ideal course of action here? Would it be for the owner ( or the owners scent ?) to be given regular safe access to lay a trail and put down food, paving the way for a humane trap?
I can only think that if Network Rail felt sufficient public pressure or the local press become involved that some belated action might take place before it's too late. I only use email so have no idea how to harness the power of social media, but I know thre are wonderful people on here who can do it.
BorderCol
Thanks Skywalker. That is the correct email address although the M is lower case.
I have sent an email but that won't do any good by itself. How do we get hundreds of people to do the same, and to contact local press en masse? I can't think of any other way to help.
Skywalker99
The chief executive of network rail is Mark carne and his email address is probably Mark.carne@networkrail.co.uk. If Falcore is getting weaker that makes him more vulnerable.....but it should make him easier to catch?
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Network Rail is extremely uncaring and are fond of saying they have no duty to domestic dogs. I would strongly suggest, as has been mentioned, that everyone kick up a fuss. Yes, its hard to know what to do if they can't see the dog but they should get out there and try. Now, I would suggest the owner do the scenting away from the tracks. Bear in mind, I don't know this area, but is it possible that Falcore could cross the track safely at night to a safe area at the other side? Or is there a way through that fence that a scent trail could be laid? Only owners can scent a trail and if they don't know what that is, we can advise. Also at end of trail leave smelly food like tripe. But remember care is needed not to scent into danger. Keep the scenting in the safe area and lead away from tracks. If Falcore gets across tracks or through fence and then picks up the trail, he should then stay where the scenting is. Go to the papers and tell them about this, make it publicly known! Alert radio so everyone is looking for him. XLast edited: 2015-11-20 00:12:19 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Millys Mum
Surely a hole could be 'found' in the chain link fence as I'm sure local badgers or foxes would have already found a way through... Has anyone gone along the fence line wearing heavy duty footwear, a thick jacket and gloves to find a way in where some nice smelly tripe could be left with owners, friends, DL Helpers observing from afar?
BorderCol
Just a thought, is there a way for us all to bombard the relevant rail authority with complaints so they are aware of strength of feeling? Do they have a public website or similar where we can post views perhaps? Anyone know how?

Hollieberry's suggestion of local press sounds good then, shame the rail company into helping. I am sure they would soon find a solution if it was a person on the line.
HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
His poor owner is at her wits end with no support from BTP or Network Rail who have now said they are closing the case as no sightings in the last 48 hours despite a train driver reporting seeing him yesterday. He probably got on the tracks from a station but hard to get back as platforms high. Poor boyXLast edited: 2015-11-19 22:26:55 by Helen - Dog SOS Derbyshire

I really think unless this dog gets onto local radio or news or into the papers that the rail network and BTP will do nothing .I must ask what are the poor dogs owners doing ?
BorderCol
Is it physically possible for him to exit safely anywhere at all, apart from the unknown hole where he got in? is food being left for him somehow?

He must be very hungry; wouldn't he be enticed to eat tripe through the chain link at the same place each night so that BTP have a sighting to send someone out?
Hollieberry
Time is running out for this dog ,does doglost have a publicity person we need to get this dog on the news .Shame on BTP
HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
Last sighted yesterday afternoon by a train driver possibly injured and getting weaker. So sad for the owner as seems to be getting minimal help from BTP or the rail people, times running out for poor FalcoreX
Doglover
Praying he will be caught soon before anything bad happens to him.xxx
Skywalker99
Still on the tracks, saw a post somehwere that he is now disrupting train services....
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
Is there anyone experienced in the area that can help this poor dog and owner? from FB Please Find Our Falcore it sounds as if locals are trying to help but someone experienced might just make the difference x
HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
Network Rail will only go out between 0900 to 1800 and only if there's been a sighting. Sadly this is when he goes to ground. 15 days now he's been trapped and possibly injured, so hard for the familyX
Hollieberry
I am so pleased that there is people trying to help this dog. Hoping for good news tomorrow xLast edited: 2015-11-18 20:25:09 by Hollieberry
Shelagh
I understand network rail are going to search t o night as" he is causing too much disruption" on their platforms etc
Shelagh
OK cj. Ask Wayne to check for an access panel. There usually is one. They will only consider when dog is sighted on that stretch and an offer of payment would be needed as a crew of maintenance have to b present at all times till panel replaced .May b worth a try.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
From what Wayne saw fencing is chain link type
Shelagh
What type of fencing is it? If in panels could they get permission to remove one? Often they have a panel right next to post start of station. That would be simplest way of getting him out.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
I was told direct that BTP are only authorised to deal with the permission from NWR so it is best that owner deals direct with NWR Or Wayne as they have already said would help once the dog is sighted.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Using a catch pole means dog has to be very close and not easy if dog is moving or running up and down tracks.
BTP are aware of this dog as are rail staff so those working along side the track will keep a look out.
Experienced Kent Helper Wayne has spoken with rail track and they will cooperate but can doing nothing unless sighted by someone close to the dog. They have also said if able they would contact Wayne to give him access depending where on the track it was. They cannot allow just anyone as have to be careful.
It needs owner and Wayne to work together with rail track to catch this dog safely. He has already spoken last night with owners and made similar suggestions to check the fencing and scent areas to make him interested in finding a hole to get back on the right side!

HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
He's moving down the line spotted by a train driver between Merton South and Wimbledon Bridge so sounds like he's moving away from how he got on line. He's now not on the side of the rails so owner can now contact BTPX
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
There seems to be many trying to help and phoning owner direct with conflicting advice.
Any one going to track side is trespassing.you can go on the stations, platforms and safe crossing places: underpasses, public bridges, level crossings and public foot crossings, but you will be trespassing if you go on to the railway tracks, embankments or any other area – for any reason at any time.

The only exception is if you are told to go on the tracks by railway staff or the emergency services, for example if your train breaks down and you need to walk along the tracks to the nearest station.

You can be fined up to £1,000 if you trespass on the railway.
Ray is already aware of this dog and to come down and would be when sighted- best is the owner to get to area as soon as Falcore is sighted.
We have an experienced helper in Kent who has already spoken to owner last night offering advise.
Ray will get back if any more ideas other than those given to owner- but agrees best way is to scent along the fencing that is along side the rail area. Could drag scent using old tights dipped in tripe water. If Falcore has not eaten he will soon follow this smell.
Has the area been checked to see how he got onto the line- if there is a hole then scent very heavily towards the hole and leave food other side of the hole- which if the one he got though should be big enough for him to get back through.
Hollieberry
Can the dogwardens catch him with a pole. I wish this was my area I would contact the news the radio anyone who would shame the rail company into providing help .Are they just waiting for this poor dog to be killed .
HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
Thanks Skywalker99 passed information on about Ray. Unable to set a trap or barbecue due to fire hazards etc. Really worrying for this boy as he's running about near the lines and they're liveXxx

Has anyone spoken to Ray Dedicoat (www.raydedicoat.com), he has loads of experience in trapping stray dogs.....
HelperHelen - Dog SOS Derbyshire
Plea on Falcores FB page for a dog trap, can anyone help as his situation is getting desperateX
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Crossposting from Dog Lost Surrey facebook page "We have been out all afternoon seen him lost his collar has an injury on neck and lost lot of weight he's running in between morden down to west sutton stations can't get him to come to anyone the police got on tracks at about 5 pm but we think he's just running and hiding everyone has been told to ring jade if he's spotted anymore"
Skywalker99
Live rail apparently makes it too difficult to put a trap out.....Oscar the chihuahua (81187) was on the tracks in January and I believe they switched the power off while they trie dot get him, RSPCA and rescues won't come out unless the power. Gets switched off.....
Hollieberry
OMG poor dog surely someone can do something can a trap not be put down .This dog has been missing from home for 13 days now !
Thank you for the update Skywalker I think someone needs to ring a news desk or something before its too late .Big sigh
Skywalker99
It says on Doglost Surrey FB page that this dog has been seen today, seems to be trapped on the rail tracks between two stations, network rail will not switch the power off, police hav e been on the tracks today but could not catch him
Hollieberry
Any news please ?
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Email direct to owner of reports to check out
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
I have also emailed direct a contact in network rail asking iw best to deal with this situation.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
It might be worth owner approaching network rail with a view to setting a trap baited with nice smelling food along the areas where sighted. They would need permission to do this. If the driver thinks dog cannot get through fence maybe worth checking from non line side along to see if any places broken as maybe got through it before then scent that area heavily to Falcore smells something familiar, owner, then finds a hole to get back home.

Wednesday 11 November @ 16:40 hrs

Hi, noticed on the alerts sent to list below - it may be worth adding Wimbledon if possible, as the sighting at Morden South SM4 is only another 3 train stops along to Wimbledon - which would be something like an SW19 postcode - just in case he's gone further up the line in that direction

Have deleted it now as have spent last hour trying to find again and can't, grrr. It was saying about a dog being seen, and reported to Network Rail, at Morden Station which it looks like owners already know about anyway. Was trying to find it again to check dates etc but cannot find 😈. Will keep looking and update again if find. So sorry Last edited: 2015-11-13 23:22:29 by Debby Cunliffe
