  • Other Info Really handsome dog. Good things: Needs training and quick to learn so would make a great agility dog. I really like this dog and he deserves a great home. Bad things: he is extremely excitable, jumps up, and he was scared of the lead he wasn’t walked in his previous home – his owner has signed the dog owner to the council. Good things: He is being walked at the kennels and he is much better on the lead – he is strong though. He is still very puppy in nature. Loves other dogs. Loves peo

fantastic I've just seen on facebook that this lovely boy has gone into Border Collie Rescue - a lovely place. I will keep my eye on him for when he goes to his forever home.

Since my last post Ive given this a great deal of thought. You could try RAF Melton Mowbray on 01664 418600 which is the Defence Military Dog Unit that train dogs for all sorts of things. They do include BCs in their training and sometimes there may just be a handler "retiring" from Military life who may just go onto do Mountain rescue etc. You could try the Search and Rescue organisations of which there are a few! There is the Sussex Lowland Search and Rescue on 01273 558513 and the Scottish Mountain Rescue on 01479 861370. This last organisation does have 23 teams of people who are willing to go out to search for lost people etc and more joining all the time and may just need another dog to start training with. BCs are very noise sensitive and they do make excellent Search and Rescue dogs and can pick up a noise some 12 miles away which is why they are particularly good at finding sheep in deep snow drifts! Just a few thoughts to try to get this boy into the right place and with the right training hands. Do please keep us or me updated. I can be contacted on 07887652916.

I am a great lover of BCs and despairs me to see people get this breed and do nothing with them! They are working dogs and they need such a lot of exercise which is why flyball, agility and dog training classes are great for them. If you put the time into them they are such loyal, eager to please dogs that just need your attention. If my old girl was happy to accept another younger dog into the family I wouldn't hesitate.
