Still looking for you Ella. I am sure that the dog I sometimes see in Sandall park is her. The owner will not let me take a picture she says it " scares the dog" yet she is chatty enough. She also said the dog was difficult to train at first as she was certain that the dog had had some "gundog training"

Ella was one of the dogs whose story I kept up with through the doglost pages long before I eventually registered on the site.   She looks such a lovely girl, I do hope this renewed effort will pay off and that she will be reunited with you, you have worked so hard to get her back.   Be safe and come back home where you belong Ella xx

Have given posters out to shoot folk in norfolk also London and have sent some to friends in lincs. I know you will never give up shirley and at times it does seem hopeless. Some days you never get anyone contact you then lots. Someone will see her and know you will keep on looking, so they will contact you. It does happen. Some quicker then others. Also to Zaks owner go on the site yourself. As long as you dont go there all guns blazing and just ask if they have seen him what is going to happen!! We went there, so dont believe all the police tell you!!If you think he is there then go. Me and shirley have done this. Luv to you shirley and ella. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My missing cocker spaniel zak has possibly be sighted on a pyke site along with a pug in Swaffam, Norfolk, the police are looking into it, I hope, he has been gone since 9th August, I will ask the wonderful policeman who helped us to keep his eyes out for other dogs including yours, Lincs. not that far away. This site is dangerous, and we cannot go ourselves, but police are interested as dog selling is big business with them, we can all but hope for a miracle.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a springer in the found pages today that has a brown patch on her back. At first glance I didn't think it had as much white on it's face as Ella but looking at the inset picture at bottom left I think it is just the angle that the photo has been taken. It also has the freckles/spots that Ella has.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ella has now been gone 1 year never thought i would still be looking for her after all this time thought somebody would come forward for the ?1000 reward but all we've had is crank calls and wild goose chases, we have travelled over 2000 miles looking for Ella even going out boxing day last year @ 7am we have been to doncaster, nottingham, mansfield, staffordshire, shirebrook, newark and all surrounding villages close to home. Posters have been sent to every vet and royal mail sorting offices in these places. hundreds of emails have been sent along with begging letters for national publicity loads never replied to. When i look at the other dogs that went missing around the same time as Ella,( Chilli, and Kizzy ) and all the others i know we all strive for the same thing 1 little piece of information on their where abouts because the not knowing really keeps you going especially on the days when you think "what's the point". Stay safe Ella xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I did stick a few posters up in hatfield & dunscroft a couple of weeks ago & some on lamposts along the doncaster road between dunsville & edenthorpe until i spotted a council worker taking them down when i asked him what the hell he thought he was doing he told me in no uncertain terms that i was being a bloody pest & causing him extra work ( I have cleaned it up). so it seems unless you are putting up posters about someones birthday or nuptuals they will be removed by council jobsworths. will be in area of park again over the week end so will pop in for a look about.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Elliedog, I don't think for one minute you have trodden on any toes. The more publicity we get for all missing dogs the better! I really hope they take notice and make a feature of it! As for Ella she has been gone too long and Roma is correct - somebody somewhere must be seeing the posters and know where she is. All we need is just one phone call to lead us to her! Shirley and Dave are doing an absolutely outstanding job but they still need help! I am so pleased you have Ellie back! Stay safe Ella little princess - we'll get you back! Hi, I own Ellie DN 7. She is in the blue now. Erm I used Ella the other day. I got very cross and ended up e-mailing the Star newspaper group. I found so many dogs in the DN area missing and I had just read about a lady having probs with the press and getting her dog in the papers. I pointed out how many dogs I had found and listed a number including Ella. I said although it was nice to show dogs that needed homes there were dogs out there that needed to go home. I asked if they couldn't do a feature with a few missing dogs in the same way as the ones needing a home. It has been forwarded for a possible feature in both the paper and on the website. Will see what happens. I just hope I haven't trodden on toes and that something does come of it. Ella has been away too long now I really hope she is home very soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good to see we had a response . Jayne have you any new ideas that we might try? I truly believe that these dogs do not go further than the 40 mile radius that Dee said. This proved correct for me! It has taken me a while to find this site. Just thought I would stick my beak in and tell you that we have seen Ella's posters up in Stainforth ( top end) Dunscroft and Hatfield only 3 weeks ago. I don't know when they were put up some are a bit faded but still readable. Sorry I can't help with putting fresh ones out as I live in Derby. Need to get a national newspaper to run a story on lost/Stolen Dogs headline could be 'Your new pet does it belong to you or did it once belong to some one else?' apparently the Sunday Mirror are animal frendly, get a reporter or someone famous who loves animals and/or has a dog to do the story with input from Jayne, highlight a couple of dogs Ella and Bella of course, still missing and a sensational one like Florence or Blaze or Clara (could go on and on) or a celeb that has lost a dog, and a couple of fantastic reuinted story's where the dogs have been sold on to some unsuspecting new owner. So do we know anyone out there that could get theis article written, come on Doglost helpers must be someone! (perhaps Jayne could put out an APB to all doglosters?) Of course I suspect this has been done before but hey lets do it again as are motto on here is to KEEP GOING NEVER GIVE UP.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We do ask helpers to be responsible over posters because flyposting can produce negative attitudes and that doesn't help get dogs home. Please think about where you are placing them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you put the posters up after 5pm Fridays, they normally say up over the weekend because the Council staff don't work weekends:-)) If the Council complains again, you can say you have asked the member not to put them up but don't have control of them:-))Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Echo, this is deemed to be flyposting and therefore comes under the Environmental Protection Act. If it is also a conservation area, then helpers should be doubly sensitive to the area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can see why the Council might request no posters on Lamp standards as they are the lighting authority, but on telegraph poles ??? Surely these belong to the electricity and telecoms companies ? Ask for the Council Jobsworth Department and ask which piece of legislation they are using on this one ? Fly posting perhaps ? Nor a clever PR move for a local authority I feel. The Councillors themselves might have something to say on such a heartless move, and where do they put posters at election time - on telegraph poles ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just read the thread & note comment that dog was bought from Mount Pleasant- if they are given posters they do check dogs- they also scan them all. Jumanji tries to get there once a week where possible. I only know this as i went there every weekend for 4 weeks when looking for a new dog myself. The LEEDS Dog Trust also take dogs from the local rescues if they are receiving too many & home from there. Again they will help if given posters. I will take Ellas with me tomorrow as doing local bootsale. Hope you find this cutie soon.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jimbo 728 - I would suggest that if you get a chance to view this dog again you try to memorise Ella's exact markings on face and top of head, the way her blaze narrows between eyes then widens above then narrows again with the little bit of black on RH side. These face and head markings are unusual and quite distinctive. Also the number and position of black dots on nose.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don`t want to get any hopes up but saw a bitch answering to Ella`s description at Sandall Park Doncaster on Saturday 2nd June. I spoke with the owner who said she had purchased the dog from Mount Plesant & that they had been unable to give any background except that she was a stray. The owner also said she walked her in the park every day as the dog liked to jump into one of the ponds for a swim. She even called the dog Ellie or Ella & said that she wanted to breed from her. The dogs collar was pale pink with silver coloured bone studs. I wasn`t able to get a look at the tag to try & get the address or phone number as by this time I think the woman thought I was some sort of weirdo. I know Mount Pleasant has made mistakes in the past & accidently sold on dogs that people have phoned up about.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i have emailed look north to thank them for featuring ella but also said i was dissappointed with the comments from DTA told them when i emailed DTA this morning they did not have a clue about ella and there isn't even a phone number for anybody to call in with information even had the cheek to ask if it was possible they could flash up the details of dog lost so there would at least be a point of contact i know look north had spoken to jayne and said they would interview her so really upset as i feel we have lost out on a golden opportunity and DTA did nothing to high light the increasing crime of dognapping shirley xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I agree with Fido this so called DTA woman was extremely Vague to say the least. Even the the man asking the questions found her hard work. I watched it via the web link and I think any one of us on this site could had more positive answers. This DTA would never boost my my confidence on losing a dog. Thank goodness for DL I say.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fido, the clueless woman was from some little amateur outfit that thinks they know about all about dog theft. I think last night proved they don't know anything !! Not sure how they got on as oujr Jayne had already been booked.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I saw last nights BBC Look North-Who was that woman from dog theft whatever it was? I could not believe her when asked who do you think is doing this and she answered " I dont know" then the next question why do you think they are doing this and again the answer was " I dont know" Then to put the icing on the cake she was asked what can be done answer " not a lot" ????????? How can someone be a spokes person for something they obviously know nothing about!!!!!! I will be looking out for Ella and the others locally,Good luck and great to see your spirit and for not giving up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

no more leads quite satisfied there are definately no dogs in the property in the next village it stands on its own for miles with no other houses around out in the sticks spoke to a few other people who walk their dogs on that bank and they have not heard dogs from the house but did take some posters of ella so if she is in the area we should get to hear no joy with getting publicity from any of the national papers about stolen dogs to busy with trivial stuff like celebs shopping or their new hairstyles thats cloud 9 cuckoo land why dont they run proper stories such as highlighting the increase on dog theft and the heartaches it causes and the lengths people will go to just for information on their dogs. never giving up somebody knows where ella is or who took her so we wait for that 1 call. thanx for your msgs. shirley. yes dave went early this morning walked down side of property took our older springer with him was shouting her and also used whistle not a sound from the kennels but he did see the windows were open as if to allow for ventilation and thought he saw someone in the house there are curtains up but it is surrounded by iron railings so you can't access it spoke to a lady walking her dog and she said she thinks somebody has moved in as she has seen a blue rover parked outside and even told us the reg. she also said she had heard dogs on a couple of occassions as she walks down the side to get onto the riverbank needless to say dave postered like mad this morning adding onto what we had put there last sunday so maybe some one may come forward with additional information fingers crossed thanx for taking the time to post shiley xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Shirley, as rottiesnstaffs says go with your gut instints and do what you need to. had i just taken the "word" that the woman who had my dog had had her scanned and that she wasnt mine then i would never have got her back. She had lied to Dogs lost and had decided to re home MY dog with someone else. had i not got the surname of the person and sat and wrote down every address in the phone book and gone out to each house to look for her myself then i dont think i would have got her back. thankfully i did and shes safe & sound. Dont give up hope.XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

so sorry for your recent loss i know the police and other people say its only a dog but they are so much more, and when i look @ dog rescues and how many dogs need a home it makes me so angry that people would much prefer to steal a dog for nothing else but financial gain. i really feel for you and your mum it must be so difficult for you both but @ least they know you loved them dearly and gave them a terrific life. thanx for taking the time to post regards shirley x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there, I am really sorry to hear about Ella, i live in the next village from crowle, i noticed that it said on the poster that she was seen been put into a bedford van, i was wondering if this information should be put on posters around crowle in case anyone had deliveries on that day in this particular area, ive seen one of the posters in the area but it didnt say anything about the van, it might just jog someones memory and might be worth a try, i would be more than willing to help distribute more posters if you need help. Keep positive, my dog was taken and with the help of Doglost she was found again. I hope she is back very very soon xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
