  • Other Info Sadie was spooked by the heavy rain/thunder and escaped from the garden, she ran towards the fields at the rear of our house and out towards the footpaths. The footpaths can end up in multiple locations - Henton, Emmington, Syndenham, Bledlow, Towersey, Thame. Sadie is elderly and has poor hips, she is also losing her hearing. She will be running on adrenaline to begin with so could travel a good distance before slowing down. Sadie is a friendly, approachable dog.

Very pleased to see that Sadie is home now. Looks like she was being clever by changing direction (after the sighting by Ruth's family) and going back towards home. Well done to the farmer for reuniting her with you.
I'm sure that after your tlc that Sadie will recover from her 'journey'
Well done to all who helped look for Sadie and her family too!
Ellie

What a relief, so glad she is back home.

Really good news, I looked out whilst walking @ Emmington around 5.30 this evening, it`s great to know Sadie was already safe :-) Hope she soon recovers from her outing!

Thank you everyone. Sadie was found in Kingston Blount by a farmer. It is likely that the sighting by Ruth's son & daughter was Sadie, as she probably crossed over the B4445 and dropped down into Sydenham or across one of the footpaths were the workers are. She is exhausted and very stiff, with a few small cuts, but otherwise she appears okay. We are VERY relieved to have her home and grateful for all the support we have received in helping to find her.

As sadie is friendly and approachable could she have got in a car? There are men working halfway down the Thame Road and they are sometimes there quite late. Could they have picked her up thinking she was stray or lost. It might well be worthwhile asking them. She could also have gone right at the bottom of the hill to Emmington so probably well worth a good look around there including the churchyard.
Ruth
My son and daughter were driving back from Thame towards Chinnor last night at 8.00-8.30pm. They saw a dog trotting along the pavement on the B4445 between the garden centre and Emmington, my son says he's pretty sure it was Sadie. She was heading towards Thame.

I have shared to Doglost South East and Doglost Oxfordshire pages on Fbk. Dogs that run off after a fright often come back to the place they were lost from. Hopefully she would have been resting/holed up last night after her fright and will start to follow her own scent back home today. Please make sure she can get back into your garden when she comes home.
Wishing you all the luck you need to find Sadie today.

Thank you for spreading the word. My dad drove around some of Brian's fields last night (he's a relative) but no sign. I ran around the track from Henton to emmington before it was too dark and my sister checked towersey Phoenix. I'm rechecking those places this morning and I'm printing posters off too. Thank you

I have a Lurcher so I know they get spooked easily. Perhaps arrange for helpers to meet in an area and spread out. I helped with the search for Quigley in this area I know at Bledlow they do t allow posters but the pub the Lions should be told and given one. Have you managed to poster in Chinnor? I will spread the word where I live. Hope she is home soon.
LindaT
Will look out for Sadie, have also emailed a contact in Malyns Close and 2 others living nearby to keep look-out and pass the word. Poor girl, it was not a good evening to be out.
Ellie
I would try Brian Lacey at the farm before heading down to Emmington. The Phoenix Trail is not far either and there could be quite a few people along there especially as it is the week-end and the kids are off school so would be a good place to poster. Worryingly there are some ditches along there too which would need to be checked out.I think you need to have a word around Emmington especially Rose's Farm, they might well see her. Also Henton. It would be a good idea to poster the Henton area too. Hope you have some luck!Last edited: 2014-08-09 06:17:20 by Ellie
