just been reading your story of Bonny, we'll keep her picture with us when searching for dogs from this area. Don't give up - she is a beautiful girl.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to someone at the kennels, This appears to be a young bitch, and regrettably it is not my Bonny. She is still out there some-where, please keep on looking for her everyone. Thanks Lee.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Glynafon. I have left a message for the kennel owners to ring me back. The bitch looks a little younger than Bonny, or she may have been clipped!. I will follow it up though. My Bengal female cat has been returned home, she was taken into a local vets who scanned her, and I picked her up at lunch time. Very hungry and tired, as she has been gone for 11 days. So thank goodness for the micro-chip. It would be nice to have the double up though........ Here's hoping.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A Patterdale x bitch has been picked up in Birmingham, on found page, might be worth checking. Missing dogs are often found in another areaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry. Stories like yours are heartbreaking. I am trying to trace the owners of a possible terrier gsd bitch I am fostering. Unfortunately she is not yours as she's the wrong colour and age. Hope her owner is as loyal and caring as you. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still no news as to the where-abouts of Bonny, it has been a long 8 months since she vanished. Would it be possible to add her missing status with the country-mans weekly ad, here's living in hope. LeexLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello everyone. I am back in communication again, had to get my grand-daughter to tell me what the matter was with the fact that I had to enable cookies to use the forum, what a dim-wit I am. Thanks to all for keeping eyes peeled, her ad has been in the Epsom Directory for the last 2 months, have had a couple of phone calls, one said there may be some Patterdales on the Kiln Lane site, but none is Bonny. Glad to be back, and still hoping for some news on my girls wherabouts! Regards Bonny-LeeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nice little pic. in the Epsom Directory again. Saw the patterdale tied up outside a shop at Tattenham Corner again this morning ! Sorry it is a little lad. I stood next to it (on guard) for about ten minutes in pouring rain, waiting for owner to appear. Eventually went and sat in my car which fortunately was near enough for me to be able to continue to keep watch. Elderly lady appeared at last ! Soaked to the skin, as I was (and more importantly poor dog), didn't feel it the right moment to spring from the car and give her a lecture !Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lovely add. for Bonny in the Epsom Directory, I do hope somebody will come forward. On friday I was in my usual headless chicken mode ! had to collect prescription from chemist at Tattenham Corner and now I've been looking at her picture again I'm worrying about a very similar black dog that was tied up outside that chemist, it looked just like her. Very unlikely to have been I know but wishing I'd 'loitered' a bit and spoken to the owner, even if it was only to lecture them about leaving the dog there in the first place ! I am up that way a lot so promise to be more vigilant in future, chance in a million obviously but after Karla coincidences don't seem so unlikely. Would just add that she/he looked extremely happy and well cared for as I'm sure Bonny will be, wherever she is. Hope it's soon with you. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Ladies, we have one in Leatherhead also and I also get the Dorking one through the door as we are on the borders. The person who does the Leatherhead one lives across the way from me as she has asked us to advertise our company before. I had been contemplating doing something for Doglost in them, but one of those 'soon as I get a minute' things I haven't got round to yet. I have no problem in contributing to the Epsom one also, so if you like to call me or pm let me know. We were supposed to be involved in a local newspaper spread including local dogs but that is another matter that hasn't materialised as yet. I intended to include Bonny too. I still think she was picked up by someone visiting that area and hope one day they will return and see the posters. Speak later, Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Help !!!!!! What we need is Sue W. who is used to talking to 'media' and would be able to recall local 'losts' that hopefully could be included with Bonnie. How dare she go creeping off to the I. of W. on her hols. ! Even Patsy, who is a very active member of the KT team has disappeared to Cornwall ! How about asking Jayne for advice ? even if it's just "when is Sue back ?" 'Cos Sue has been dealing directly with the owners of so many 'localish' missing dogs. The story of Kelly, little Yorkie stolen from car outside Dorking halls in May is particularly dreadful as the owner had not long lost his wife and has no other family. Had a phone call from Wimbledon to ask for money, but wasn't quick enough and they hung up on him, he is still absolutely desperate to find her. She has almost certainly been sold on, probably drug money ! The owner phones poor Sue up all the time weeping for his lost pet, it's heartbreaking. If you give Tom these sort of facts and of course your Bonnies story, can't he put it together ? He could look at this site to get pictures of Bonnie and Kelly and maybe he could speak to Jayne to get the bigger picture. There are so many others of course, Molly, staffie from Leatherhead....., we could take over the whole mag. ! Wonder if he would consider doing a piece each/alternate issues ?Sure Sue or Patsy would be really good at something like this. Sorry to waffle on hope something I've said will help (a bit). Pm Jayne (poor woman) I think Sue will be back before the 20th, Jayne will probably know. The other book I was talking about is called 'Surrey Life' big glossy,my sister says her estate agency (biggest in England) no longer advertise in this mag. cos it's so expensive ! So that doesn't sound very good for your funds! But they do have a letter page and like the other book ask for suggestions for articles, they cover a very wide area, so maybe when you have got into practise with thLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jan. I have had a reply back from Tom regarding the glossy mag called the Epsom Directory, and he also does one called the Ewell & Stoneleigh Directory, as he lives in that area. He is very interested in doing something regarding missing dogs in the general area. He has suggested about 300-500 words per page along with a picture or two, and this must all be in place by the 20th October. All offers and suggestions here will be greatly appreciated..........please. Waiting with anticipation! Regards LeeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's a glossy little mag. comes every month. Page 4 says "If you have any ideas about other information that you would like to see in this magazine please telephone or e mail details to me. Best Wishes" (sounds friendly !) Tom Hurst - Editor 0208 873 1587 or sales@hurstpublishing.co.uk Nothing to lose by asking ! Getting a bit more ambitious there is another larger glossy mag. we get thru' the door every month, think its called 'Surrey.....' (something or other) obviously covers a much wider area, which would obviously be better still, possibly need to pay for an add in that one, if they would. Don't have a copy of that at the moment to get details 'fraid ours has gone in the re-cycling box, but will get one from my sister, hopefully tomorrow, she's an estate agent in Ashtead and usually has them in her office. Beaming positive thoughts across the common to you ! Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jan Sorry to say we havn't received the little magazine, we very rarely get any freebies up here anymore, not even the newspapers. If you can let me have the e:mail of the editor I will certainly give it a try. Any publicity is worth it weight in gold. Still have not had any leads as to Bonny's whereabouts, its very dis-heartning, but I refuse to give up hope. Many thanks. Lee Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lee, did you get a copy of the little magazine 'Epsom Directory' thru' the door ? Page 4, editor asks if any one has any suggestions/ideas that could go in the mag. E mail address given, nothing to lose by suggesting they might include lost dogs/cats (with picture of course) hopefully for free but maybe thats asking too much ! Nothing to lose by asking if he could mention Bonnie. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry I havnt got back with an answer. Managed to speak to someone eventually. The Patterdale cross that they call Amelia is estimated to be about 7 years old, and they say she has possible mammary tumors, which havnt just appeared overnight. I'm sorry to say that it isnt Bonny, but Amelia is very much like her in a lot of ways. Amelia is having her medical condition looked at, and then depending on the outcome of her tests, she may be up for adoption. Heres hoping that she can get a nice new home, with some-one who will care for her. If anyone can give her a home please contact the Mayhew Animal Home on 0208 969 0178..........Please.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Coming through Ashtead park this morning, didn't see any posters. Put one at the top of the path down to the lake, that was the one I intended taking to the kennels in Green Lane, traffic too bad to get there anyway. Try and put some more round that area when the schools go back, be seen by so many more eyes.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to everyone who has offered to put posters up. Have been over to Morden Park this afternoon, as there was another dog show there. No signs of Bonny though. Lots of people have seen the advert in the paper, or the posters. But there are no sightings of her anywhere, which is quite dissapointing. Makes me think she has been taken further afield now. Hi Bonny Lee and Jan. I think the boarding kennels are at GREEN LANE CHESSINGTON - that's up the road towards Chessington Station and then to the right behind what used to be RAF barracks and is now, I think, called Barwell Business Park or something like that . . hope this helps. Thanks for pm Bonny Lee, I only wish we knew which direction she'd taken ! If it's this one hopefully you will hear something. Do you have any more ideas ? My only thought left is that when walking my dogs in Horton C.P. you can hear loads of dogs barking/yapping across the fields in the direction of Chessington W.of A. I believe there is a boarding kennel there, would Bonny be attracted to the sound of other dogs ? My two would take off in the opposite direction....but they are not very brave. I will try and find it and give them a poster but I doubt it will be over the next couple of days, 'cos getting anywhere near Chessington is gridlock, although it's pouring with rain. If you think it's a possiblity you could probably find them in the local phone book. If you get any sightings and need any help or can't get there yourself quickly give me a ring, I'll pm you my number. JanLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry, I appear to be monopolising this forum ! Just taken poster into Horton childrens Farm...it is packed ! Hadn't realised it was so popular, anyway they took the poster and put it up right at the 'way in' (pay desk) so it will certainly be seen and the staff will know about her too. Just in case she were to wander into any of the fields. Hope you get some news very soon. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Taken poster into Horton golf club, receptionist said she would make sure it was displayed where all golfers would see it. Postered entrances and all over Hook Arena, had no idea it was such a big area ! rather misjudged the amount of posters I would need, but it's now well covered for the boot sale monday. Put my last one at the entrance to Clarendon Park (new houses) and at the start of a footpath leading into Horton C.P., next to the childrens farm. Would have liked to take on into the farm, 'cos they get quite a few visitors specially over the coming weekend but didn't have any left ! Will get round there later this afternoon or first thing tomorow. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Got visitors this afternoon but intend going out first thing and finishing what I started yesterday. Hook Road Arena 'cos there is a big boot sale Monday, Clarendon Park (new houses) and the golf club, although the club house is a distance from the common the course comes into Horton country park in places, so golfers maybe have seen her if she came this way. There is a car boot at the hospital Sunday, can you find somewhere there to put posters ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Inspired by our success yesterday, I went potty with the posters this morning ! I had already done this side of common. stew ponds etc as you can see from earlier posts. But it occurred to me last night we have never really 'done' the houses on the hospital sites and there are loads of families, who maybe took in a stray dog ? or at least may have seen one wandering about. Put loads around the Manor estate (perspex type bus shelters..marvellous for taping on posters and can be seen from both sides, good spread over the estate and road leading into Livingstone Park, both ends of recreation ground by the new school and playground, also at the other playground nearer Horton, on tree at entrance to Horton Country Park, I have put posters up in there but the swines just take them down again ! Took one into the Moat garden Centre, very sweet people that work in there all going to keep looking and have put poster up. At entrance to West Park Hospital, near social club and nursery entrance. As I was putting up last one at start of bridleway in Horton Lane Epsom & Ewell council truck pulled up man jumped out and dashed over to read poster, thought, here we go, telling off coming up ! What a lovely chap, read the poster and promised to keep a look out and tell mates, but had hoped it was the 'lost dog' that he'd just seen sitting on the pavement near Stamford Green, he was very concerned about it, although it wasn't Bonny as it was small and grey. As you can imagine I zoom off in 'rescue mode' but as I got nearer to the area he had directed me I remembered that many years ago when my late dog was getting on we used to potter round that area of the common and she would meet a little shi tzu (?) that just sat outside his house all day and watched the world go by and sure enough it was him contentedly sitting there ! goodness know what age he must be now !! I dont know if the dog was male or female. It was on a boat by the tow path at Molesey Lock on board with another dog, a black labrador... the boat has a wooden 'deck' at the front and blue seats, the dog bowls were on the seats..... Hi, I had the poster that Bonny is missing and as I work in Epsom. I will keep my eyes peeled. It may be a long shot but I my partner saw a dog very similar to Bonny on a boat near my house in Hampton Court... he also took a photograph which you can see on our dog's website (we recovered our dog, Wallace, after he had been stolen from us) the link to type in is http://www.andrewbrel.com/wallace/max01.html It's a very scruffy dog but have a look and let me know. You must type in the whole link... good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to everyone for all their messages. I have had a few problems with logging on, but it has been sorted, many thanks. Have printed off lots of posters, and put them around Epsom/Ashtead, including Sainsburys carpark, Asda's noticeboard, and Epsom Council. There has also been an advert running in the Surrey Guardian for the last 2 weeks. Had a phone call from Chelmsford Dog warden last Monday, but it wasnt her. Also a phone call from a lady near North Cheam last night who saw a black dog near her home. Unfortunately, this was to no avail. I still beleive someone out there has taken her, as she loved to ride in the car, I havn't given up hope yet. Have also printed off some of the posters for Taffy this lunchtime, and will endeavour to put some of these about also. Thanks to everyone. Bonnys MumLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Very good advert in this weeks Guardian, hope it gets a response. If owners haven't already done it I'd suggest that posters at Sainsburys Kiln Lane would catch lots of local people, with the petrol station and other big stores on that site. Set off to go there this morning but beaten back by traffic chaos caused by some upset in Ewell ! Walked my dogs in Horton country park instead and put up posters there. Fingers crossed for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Need to put more along there tomorow along edge of common, but ran out of daylight and posters. Maybe would be good idea if we poster in Epsom town centre - good for market day. I managed to poster tonight. Teazlewood foot bridges over M25, Headley (no soldiers Jan), Headley Common car park, Headley itself, down through Ashtead (Farm Road), Craddocks Avenue near woods entrance, Across railway Links Road and the other end which escapes me - closest to wood area. Bus stops along Barnett Wood Lane. Stopped before they carted me away cos the staple gun kept jamming and its was a pain!! Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was in the Copsem Lane car park on Sunday and thought to myself must ask Sue if she wants that notice taken down, then forgot all about it !How fortunate ! You and Patsy helped a lost dog and made lots of new friends......! She manages to do house work as well .....???!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I must get out more......... Patsy / Jan you seem to be having all the nice rangers chatting. Thanks for helping earlier Patsy. Jan do you recall leaving my phone number at Copsem car park for the found dog? Well that was all sorted, but the poster remained. So this morning I had a call from two ladies who had found what I thought to be a small brown dog. They didn't know what to do and had seen the message, so I offered to help - as you do. To cut a long story short, after numerous phone calls between different bodies we reunited the dog. Patsy kindly left her house cleaning (lol) to make afew calls and help. She also recruited I dont know how many dog people and I nominate her for a recruitment box in that car park. So unfortunately I didn't get to many posters up for Bonny yet, but the day isn't over. Good points are I am now direct contact for Elmbridge, they know of Doglost and I have direct numbers for them. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters taken to all three vets mentioned, posters on Downs. Couldn't get to Rubbing House area as road was closed, will make sure I have more posters tomorrow. What do you call a husband who drops the dogs water into a boot full of freshly printed posters ? Soon to be ex husband ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Surrey garages don't seem to like posters, say they let one do it and everybody starts. But you can do it orund the corner, where nobody can see it, huh! Still, won't hurt to pester. Jan, hunny hunny........... grovel.. can you drop a poster at Msasa by the roundabout lower end. Thought I may get there today, but not been necessary as I sorted the problem myself. (no not me silly!) Winton Lodge Epsom branch comes to mind too. Will try and get out tomorrow for Bonny. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry if it's stating the obvious, but have owners contacted all vets in the area ? Presume you could do that by just going through the local phone book. Son has gone off to cricket club clutching poster, with instructions to draw the attention of ALL the little sweethearts he is coaching to the fact that there is a very friendly dog missing locally, and then pin poster up where it can be seen by people using the tennis club section as well. Hopefully that won't prove too much for him !Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh Jan, haven't done much at all today! - still haven't done my side of the common but, as I said, will wait for horrible traffic to go. Sue, I think wardens will be OK about notice boards, but I used telegraph poles and British Legion Notice Boards at edge of Woodfield. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry Sue, as soon as I pressed the 'submit' it dawned on me why you said 'Wells' ? As usual Patsy has done superb work, leaving us all standing ! Pleased she confirms the M25 gridlock ! Sometimes feel it's a conspiracy to stop me leaving home ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Didn't raise the subject Patsy. Will try and get through myself. Brilliant result from estate office there. Do you think they mind us using their boards on the corner of Woodfield? Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sue - has owner checked with transport police regarding railway line? - horrible thought, but fencing by railway at Newton Wood area of Commmon isn't brilliant. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Forgot to add: Ashtead Common wardens said it does state in their bylaws that no posters allowed on the common by the City of London - but they are usually sympathetic to dog posters. I explained that we always remove them when dogs are found. V. nice people! PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes, traffic completely seized up thanks to lovely M25 - so will do Princes Coverts areas later on when out walking dogs. But did manage the Common on the Lower Ashtead side earlier this afternoon. So posters now at Woodfield, Barnet Wood Lane post office stores, by the station, on edge of common at Woodfield Road and at Ashtead Woods Road. Left Bonny poster (and Jasper poster) with very helpful wardens at Ashtead Common Estate Office. They say they often have to deal with missing/found dogs and even have a scanner! They looked Bonny up in their day-book and had lots of info on other lost and found dogs and added Bonny to their records. They agreed to be added to DogLost mailing list (have emailed details to Admin and to SueW). They also told me some travellers have been camping illegally on the Woodfield part of the common at Barnet Wood Lane and were moved off this morning - said they were off to Blandford Forum. (not sure where they came from through).PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bless ya cotton socks Jan. Haven't been out yet and not looking forward to it. When I said The Wells I was answering your question about where she went from, not why haven't you done it, ha ha ha. You've done heaps :o) Was hoping Patsy may cover her favorite area close to home Princes Covert etc when she gets the chance? Will look round the corner at traffic if its bad will wait till later. Blooming M25! Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you could see the traffic between me and the Wells you would know why I haven't ! Extensive postering of the common, footpaths, bridges, car park, outside pub on the green, outside church, up to & incl. the stew ponds. Something has happened on the M25 which has completely blocked Epsom from Ashtead and the Wells, although I could have walked it I just didn't have time. Abbey has been in the lake in Richmond Park this morning and absolutely pongs !!! So I have to bath her as the menfolk are complaining ! My son will take a poster down to the cricket club tonight. It's Colts night so lots of youngsters from around the Epsom/Ashtead area will see it. Unless I hear from 'lightning P' I will poster the Wells tomorrow/ Ashtead Park/Downs........Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ok peeps, we need to start our posters up at The Wells area, which is Ashtead/ Epsom border. Owner has already contacted Battersea and dog wardens at Epsom & MVDC. Police have also been contacted. I will email the wardens again as it won't hurt to jog their memories. This little one had a bee in her bonnet and went off on the trail of something before owners could stop her. Hasn't returned. likeely to have been taken in or picked up as she is so friendly. If she has wandered, she could be anywhere so poster anywhere you think reasonable now. Over to you........... This is really near me. Will get postering as soon as picture appears, Can we know the actual area of Epsom/Ashtead she went missing from ? And the area she was usually walked... Common/Downs/Horton Country Park, wherever, might help to prioritise my own dog walking/searching. Will send to Nikki (E.C.R.) as well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
