Dear doglost.co.uk

Just to inform you the Max, the Staff x greyhound lost from Whitstable Harbour on Monday 10th.3.14 has been found and is safe and sound at home. He spooked from Whitstable Harbour and ran to the rail lines at Whitstable Station, ran to Herne Bay station where he was seen on CCTV. He went missing until Friday 14th where he was seen and rescued from the train lines by a fabulous family and reunited. I took him straight to the vets and apart from being a little dehydrated and a few rose thorns stuck in his chest and flanks the only real damage was his pores with cut pads and he lost a few claws. But he is back safe and sound and I would like to thank every body at doglost.co.uk especially the Kent branch for all there support and without them Max would not be here today. Thank you. As soon as his pores have healed I will be joining doglost to help find and support other people who find themselves in my position. Thank you again Mark Sewell and Max XXX

No this is old news. For up to date information best to either look direct on Max's owners FB page or Missing Dogs and Strays in Thanet FB page as not many people now are looking at this Dog Lost page for reasons that I will keep private.

Have seen someone has updated location on poster...so in case you are not reading poster the latest sighting is on the rail tracks between Herne Bay and Whitstable...so now going in the opposite direction...tx...please crosspost.

I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. Glad he's microchipped - hope he's home soon.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
have sent email direct to owners. with all these sightings -plotting and scenting will keep him in set area plus can work out areas heading.

Hope he is found soon, come on Max lots of us willing you to make it home asap. xx

Oh that is a shame it wasn't Max this morning. Great that you had a good supportive search party though. Have you thought about contacting the local tracker dog... She is fairly local and has been brilliant in finding many lost dogs. Just a thought?
Fran Daly
Shocked to have had my suggestion of using a tracker dog moderated especially when a Google search brings up so many success stories.

AM UPDATE!

LOST DOG MAX>

Thank you everybody for all you are doing to try to bring Max home.

There have been two unsubstantiated sightings recorded,

1) St John's Street in Margate, if all you wonderful people in the Margate area can keep an eye out for him today as you best know this area.

2) Blean Woods. This makes sense, if he escaped out the back of Herne Bay Station and crossed the Thanet Way he will hit Blean Woods.

ANOTHER PLEA FOR HELP, please, if anyone is able to look around your part of Blean Woods I would be so grateful, I will have to leave Margate to those who know the area and I will, after checking police stations and phoning the Margate and now Canterbury vets join in at Blean

I am very concerned as Max is very short haired and does not like the cold, he will be tired and cold and hungry and scared and I need to bring him home soon.

Thank you all again Mark XXX

Latest update from owner xx
"We have an unconfirmed sighting of Max in Margate that is conceivable as it is on the rail line he was running on, A women has contacted the KM group and said she was sure she spotted Max outside a shop in St John's Street at 4pm Yesterday. If there is anyone reading this in Margate or has a friend or relative in Margate who can keep an eye out for our Max please contact them now, we are going ASAP to see if we can find him.

Hope Max's owner doesn't mind me "stalking" his FB page for further updates but this is his latest status!

"Thank you to everyone on face book who has shared "Max's" picture but as yet he has not been found. My wife and I have spent the day and will be going out tonight looking for him in the Herne Bay to Birchington area. We have a connection with Rail Track and Neckwork Southeast (Thank you Amanda Francis) who have informed us that Max has not been found by the tracks so we are hoping he has is making his way into a town or village to find food and water, please can everyone keep doing what you are doing as going into vets, shops, railway stations even farms everyone has recognised Max from your shares on facebook and I am forever in your debts. Thank you so much for all your hard work. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I will be cycling aroung the main rail routes using footpaths and farm tracks to get a closer look at the railways and droping more leaflets and fliers. Thanks again everybody!"
Fran Daly
Following update on Max's owner's FB page which I have shared to Missing dogs and Strays in Thanet FB page

"CCTV showed Max running up onto Herne Bay station platform around 11.00am and then continuing towards Birchington. If you have any friends or contact in Thanet, from Birchington all the way through to Margate and Ramsgate please share the missing poster or any other of the uploads about Max please! Information suggests that Max had a minor injury and could be bleeding from a pore which may result in him slowing down and seeking human contact.

Again thank you so much for your kind support"

Local helpers, David & Joan, are searching the station area and the memorial park when they walk their own dogs and their foster dogs. They aren't on the internet but are really good because they walk their dogs at all times xx
