Hi
I've had a thought that maybe whoever has Nell may be taking her out with a coat on her to help disguise her. Especially as it is now quite cold, she might be thinking that she can get away with it. So we need to look out for this when we are around the village!Just a thought!
Ellie
Hi Tigerlilly. I was wondering if you could put a different picture in the paper. The last one was of Nell full on, which didn't display her body features, patches etc. So people didn't really get a good look at her. They need to feature a photo like the one at the top where her facial characteristics are clear as well as her body. I'm mentioning this because people I have spoken to have remarked about it to me.
TigerLilly100
I am going to contact the papers tomorrow again.
Springer sharon
Maybe an idea to update the poster stating 'still missing' or something so people are aware this is still current. Just a thought.......
LindaT
I noticed this too, Ellie... if there is a "postering policy" then it may be worth Dawn ringing the parish office on Monday to ask if this only applies to missing pet posters!? There are lots of posters around at the moment advertising all sorts of events, they have not been touched as far as I can see.
Ellie
I noticed also that many of the posters have been taken down.I also noticed that the one that was on the telegraph pole in Greenwood Avenue was taken down but the poster that was above it, advertising a Xmas event, has been left there! This makes me a bit suspicious. Why take down Nell's poster yet leave another one above it? It doesn't make sense! Also there are loads of these Xmas posters on telegraph poles around the village and nobody has touched them!
LindaT
The landlady at the Leathern Bottel pub in Lewknor has taken a poster for her noticeboard inside the entrance. Is there anymore news, Nell wasn`t mentioned in the Chinnor Pump so I guess Dawn missed the deadline? Some posters have been removed, not sure if this is vandalism or the residents deciding to take them, the one in Oakley Rd at the end of Glynswood has gone from the fence, as have a few others I have put up on telegraph poles, not sure if you want to keep putting them back up just to have them taken down again?Last edited: 2013-11-29 14:47:41 by LindaT

Advertised in this weeks Countryman's Weekly magazine. I hope it brings some news.
LindaT
I placed a poster at Emmington yesterday teatime and will try to get to Sydenham to place one or two in the next day or two. The poster next to the dog-wastebin near the Wainhill turn has disappeared.
Ellie
I went up to Xmas Common to poster, but noticed that there was already one there in the entrance. It looked fine so I drove back and put a poster up in Aston Rowant Nature Reserve. I then put another one at the Kingston end of the Ridgeway and the Kingston Stert end of the Driftway. I had a word with a couple of dog walkers who did know about Nell and said they are keeping an eye out for her. I think it's a good idea to poster in areas where people walk their dogs as well as around Chinnor.
Ellie
My 'children' have long left school, so can't help there. I'm not sure about Dawn. I must say that I'm a little bit wary to do that though because it brings attention of the posters to the kids and might have the adverse affect. I think I must be getting cynical!!
LindaT
I didn`t walk up the alleyway, drove all round in my car so I`m glad the poster is there Ellie. The Parish office left a message with my husband to say their chap has not removed the posters I put up yesterday, the man in the house in Mill Lane near the bus-stop who let me re-poster on his fence said he will take note if he sees anyone remove the new one, he didn`t see who ripped down the one from yesterday. I wonder if the school heads can make a mention at assembly that hopefully none of their pupils are doing this? I don`t have children in school but if you or Dawn does perhaps it would be possible to suggest this?
Ellie
The poster up the alley by the traffic lights was torn down and thrown into the garden. So my other half retrieved it and put it back up a bit further along. It was still there at about 12.30 today. One that we put up on Sunday on a telegraph pole in Oakley Road has also gone. I think that if we can, we should stick to private fences, although that's not always easy if the occupants aren't home. I think also that if we put the pins quite a way in on the poster rather than right in the corners then that might make it harder to rip off. It's unbelievable that people do this! They clearly can't be dog lovers because I'm sure if they were then they would understand the importance of them!
LindaT
At least 3 of the posters I put up late yesterday morning have been ripped down. They were on telegraph poles; the owners of 2 of the houses next to the poles have very kindly allowed a poster to be placed on their property/gate post/fence ( on Station Rd nr the xroads; along Mill Lane just up from the xroads opposite the large solitary house) One poster which was in the lay-by up from the pub I have`nt replaced. The poster which was at the Oakley Rd end of the cutway by the traffic lights has also disappeared. The Parish Office do not believe it is their operative but will check..they do have a postering policy which they have to adhere to..I`m not clear what it is but will try to clarify. Most of the other posters in the other parts of the village which I also put up yesterday ( on telegraph poles too ) are still there.I would have thought the telegraph company would either remove all or none at all so that is a little strange. Perhaps it is best to keep posters to private property where permission is agreed?Last edited: 2013-11-14 12:08:13 by LindaT
TigerLilly100
Hi Linda.
Dawn is writing a piece for the Chinnor Pump hoping to get across how missed Nelly is.
LindaT
I did have another thought...has the owner got in touch with the Chinnor Pump ( copies are still available in the Library ) to get Nell in the letters page? The pump is delivered to every household in Chinnor, as opposed to the Thame Gazette which does miss a lot of the houses out. The Pump would be a good way of ensuring the whole of Chinnor is covered and would be free as opposed to paying for flyers.
LindaT
I have placed posters at the Chinnor end of Wainhill by the dog-waste bin; ( there is one at the top of Wainhill lane, by the footpaths crossing point already ) also three along Lower Road between Wainhill and High Street; 2 posters along the High Street; one at the junction of Rectory Meadow and Musgrave Rd (opposite Church); one at the Station Rd end of Church Lane; one on Station Rd opposite the Methodist Church; one on Station Rd near the crossroads; one along Cherry Tree Rd; one in Middle Way by the dog-waste bin next to the parade of shops; one on Oakley Rd in the lay-by up from the Wheatsheaf pub. I have a few left so will check the others are in good nick and try to get one or two up on the Ridgeway on the far side of Bledlow towards Lodge Hill in case someone has seen Nell on their trek of the Ridgeway Trail thru` from Chinnor etc. I was surprised when I put the posters on the High St and Lower Rd that a couple of people did ask about the dog and read the posters, as if they hadn`t heard about Nell yet.
Ellie
Lower Road, Bledlow and Wainhill are good ideas. Also I think anywhere that is popular with dog walkers. I believe that Fran has covered the Phoenix Trail. I can do Kingston Blount and Xmas Common. I've got to work tomorrow (Monday)but can get out after that. I think that replacing any old ones is a good idea too, so will try and check out Mill Lane, Cherrytree and Oakley lane again later in the week.
LindaT
I keep slowing down in my car and having a good look at anyone I`ve seen in Chinnor with one or more JR`s, I will soon be thought of as some weirdo:-) It would be fantastic if this woman made contact but I think that putting posters further afield can`t do any harm,as well as making sure Chinnor has plenty ( and they remain in place too ) The Lower Road going out towards Bledlow and Wainhill doesn`t seem to have any so I will put some of the ones TigerLilly left for me, and anywhere else you can suggest.
Ellie
I was only asking Linda because I think that it is important that we do confer our ideas. As we know, different people see different scenarios from different aspects, so it's important to mull over all these different ideas. We don't want to be missing something that someone else may find blatantly obvious. So I think these ideas need to be ironed out, acted upon or discarded:).Last edited: 2013-11-10 16:24:38 by Ellie
LindaT
Ellie I`m not "saying" anything. But I do think it must be time to poster further afield; this woman could have had Nell and then got worried about not making contact, who is to say she didn`t let her go on her way again? A true dog-lover would never keep someone else`s dog so she may not have considered the welfare of the dog that "just turned up". I hope she does come forward but in the meantime it doesn`t do any harm to be spreading the net a bit further afield, in my opinion. What does Nell`s owner want to do next?
Ellie
I think we should poster a bit further afield. I did poster in Crowell, but they made need replacing now. Also perhaps Kingston Blount.
Linda, you say that Nell could be a long way from home after so long. Are you saying that perhaps the woman in Oakly Lane hasn't got Nell then? It seems such a massive coincidence that this dog had just 'turned up' and just happened to be a JR and a few days after Nell went missing!
TigerLilly100
I think we need to get to the other villages.
We have had nothing at all from Chinnor, the rest of Chinnor needs to be covered and the other villages.
I don't know how else we can get to every home. We need more help.
LindaT
There are some areas in Chinnor that I have noticed have no posters so I will try and put some up, Cowleaze and Hedgerley seemed a little thin on the ground with posters, as did around Station Rd near the school unless I am missing them? Most people I speak to know of Nell already. Perhaps it would be a good idea to poster further afield such as Crowell, Kingston Blount, Aston Rowant, Hill-top Lane, Chinnor Hill, Bledlow Ridge etc, if not already done. After so long Nell could be a long way from home. I can do Bledlow Ridge tomorrow morning on my way out.
Springer sharon
Is there a free newspaper covering the area. They often do inserts and in my experience work out much cheaper. I live in Dorset and was recently considering it for my business. It was approximately £100 for over a 1000 houses, some of which were quite rural.Good luck
Ellie
It could be quite expensive. There are quite a lot of houses in Chinnor so you would certainly need a lot. To be honest, everyone that I speak to in Chinnor knows about Nell either from the posters or the TG. So would you be spending money unnecessarily? Personally I think we should continue with the postering but it's up to you. What do others think?

TigerLilly100
Ill be postering tomorrow around Chinnor and surrounding areas.
Is there anywhere specific you think I need to cover?
I have contacted a distribution company and am hoping they respond. I'd like to get A5 leaflets put through every door in Chinnor and the surrounding areas, but I need to have an idea of cost.
LindaT
The deputy manager in the co-op( I think that`s his title and think it`s Craig ) took one from me a week or so ago for the Kiosk and I thought it was still just inside the doors a few days ago. I am going to drive to the Mill Lane end of the cutway to replace the old poster this afternoon and will replace anymore tatty ones I see about, some of the original ones didn`t have sellotape at the bottom and have got wet.I have 3 left Holly so if you have any spares you could pop some in my door next time you are passing, they are clearer than my sad printer. Not sure if we are postering away from Chinnor?
Ellie
I went to the Co-op. They said that they already had a poster in the shop. I then gave them another one and asked if they could put it in the kiosk. They took it but said that they have to ask permission from the hierarchy, so I left it with them. So will check it out again at the weekend. I also checked some posters and most around the Oakley Lane area are okay. I noticed that some have been replaced around the Greenwood Avenue area which must be courtesy of Linda! I went for a drive around the Oakley Lane, and Mill Lane area to see if I could see anything interesting, but nothing at that time.
TigerLilly100
I have emailed details to admin
B30
Please can Nell's details be updated, age, tail, collar, tag and then add her to my Countryman's Weekly list for an advert
Ellie
I'm on my way to the Co-op now will drop one in.
TigerLilly100
I have been into the co-op and there are no posters. Could someone please go in and get one up?
I have come out without any today. Shapers still have theirs up in the window.
TigerLilly100
Ellie, Linda, do you need more posters? Anything more from the police folk?
LindaT
I agree Ellie. Most of us in Chinnor do know who is who and I am concerned that Doglost will be in trouble if names are used in respect of posters being torn down when we have no idea who is actually doing so, as I texted my concern to Shereen who I think will understand ( hope so anyway ) I replaced one at the Oakley Rd End og the cutway by the traffic lights late this afternoon and also found the remains of one lying on the ground which I replaced at the Mill Lane estate end as I only had one with me, will put a new one there 2morrow. I also found the remains of a poster in the cutway relating to the swap-shop event, so perhaps someone has just gone through the cutway pulling anything and everything down that has been posted along there, not just Nells posters? I don`t go down there very often but will try & keep an eye open in case they dissapear again:-)
Ellie
I know what you're saying Linda and I could understand rules for postering if we were living in the middle of Birmingham, Manchester or a suburb of London, but for goodness sake , we live in a village and many villagers tend to have dogs, which is often the reason that they want to live in villages. So in villages we use posters to raise money for charity projects, local dances, fund raising school events and yes, dare I say it, lost dogs! We are fortunate here in this particular village that most of us know one another. Our children have grown up together, and we are a community that are here to help one another. So if one of us is in the unfortunate position to have lost their dog, then we as a community should be there to help them, and being able to put our posters up is an important part of helping each other. This is not directed at you Linda, but the person that has been busy taking down our posters ! :)
LindaT
I did speak to Jo in the parish Office yesterday, and she said she will check that the posters on private fences are not removed by their operative. The Parish Office are following Nells story on Doglost too so are aware of any possible sightings etc :-)
Ellie
Comment awaiting moderation
Shereen
dont be too suspicious of posters being removed..(unless in one particular area).I personally caught the person doing in right behind my back whilst postering for Quigley...man in a tractor (cant remember his name) who works for the parish....not a very helpful man !...but he will remove the whole of chinnor...don't stop spreading the word though! just try and poster on private land like LindaT says xLast edited: 2013-11-05 20:38:06 by Shereen
LindaT
Good idea Clare, will try that. I have put some posters up with electrical tape wrapped around but one of those was removed on the Gooseneck the day after I placed it, may have been highways though:-(
Clare
Hi just a thought. How about if you could put the posters in a plastic sleeve or laminate and tie it really securely with string so it would have to be cut off with scissors. It would show how determined someone was to take it down if it was missing again. May be the difference between kids and someone who may have Nell and doesnt want posters up. Really hope you get her back soon x
LindaT
I did the Glynswood/Oakley Rd one this morning Ellie, I also have replaced one at the junction of Glimbers Grove & StAndrews Rd with a new one, and in Greenwood Ave, also added an extra new one in Greenwood Ave. Will do the one-way bit tomorrow and also the alleyway. I went in and spoke to Jo in the Parish office this morning, she said she would speak to their operative but he would not usually take down posters on private property. They are aware of Nell too.
Ellie
A good question Holly. I do know that when we were postering for Quigley they were getting pulled down all of the time.Although to be fair they were normally along the Ridgeway, Chinnor Hill and around the Chiltern Reserves. So this was probably the Jobsworth 'do gooders'. However, with Nell's posters they are mainly around Chinnor streets which does look they are being targeted. Hmm makes me wonder!
TigerLilly100
This is concerning - who would want to pull them down.
Ellie
My husband tells me that the poster is back on the fence at the end of Glynswood. So I guess that must have been you Linda! The fact that the lady hasn't rang to put us out of our misery makes me more suspicious. I'm sure that most people would do so! I know that I certainly would!
Ellie
Linda
The poster I put along the alleyway by the traffic lights has gone too. Also the one that you put down the one way road at the bottom of Greenwood Avenue has apparently been torn in half according to my husband. So could you replace those too please as I won't be able to do it until later this week. Thanks
TigerLilly100
Linda the woman that called us did not know Nelly was missing at the time so did not take much note of what the woman looked like or was wearing - completely understandable - I wouldn’t take note of something I didn’t need to take note of.
She is an elderly lady and we have spoken to her 3 times already, we cannot ask her any more questions without harassing her or making her feel intimidated.

I fully understand the frustration that is felt, I myself have spent a week sobbing my heart out because we have done so much and she still has'nt come home.
I wish the lady that 'may or may not' have Nelly would just send one of us a text to say. We are more likely to hug her for putting us out of our misery than have a go at her.
LindaT
I have been busy with visitors but this evening saw the poster was gone opposite Glynswood on Oakley Rd, i`m sure it was still there early this morning around 8.15. I couldn`t stop tonight but tomorrow morning I will put another poster there and add a bit to say it is placed with the permission of the resident. The school bus stops there so it could have been kids, I will speak to the parish Office to see if it was their operative who has removed posters before!!! The Thame Gazette doesn`t always get to every single household in Chinnor, unfortunately! Oakley Lane area is a fairly locally-known place to walk and I would be surprised if the woman wasn`t a resident of Chinnor, I hope the woman hasn`t been scared off by the posters and decided to just let Nell ( if it was Nell ) out the back door; do you have the number of the woman who telephoned with this info, perhaps she can offer a description of the woman or what she was wearing?
Ellie
It happens a lot with postering Holly. There are always people that think we are 'littering' the village. They are clearly people that don't have any pets, because if they did they would know just how it feels to have one go missing. Still I'm a great believer in'what goes around, comes around' and I'm sure their day of judgement will come!!
TigerLilly100
Linda - I contected them and it was not Nell. I have registered nell on the website now. Its not very helpful without pictures!
Ellie - That not helpful at all!! Why do people do it!

I am gutted that nothing has come from the Gazette or the Bucks Free - how can so many peolple get those newspapers and no one has seen anything
Ellie
I've just been down Oakley Rd with my dogs and I noticed that 3 of the posters that I put up have been torn down The pins and pieces of the poster are still there just like someone has ripped them off! I particularly chose the places carefully as 2 were on private fences and I knocked and asked the owners if it would be okay. So once again we have either a Jobsworth Do Gooder trying to impress him/herself or some annoying mindless kids!Never mind, I won't be detered and will be back later in the week when I have time!
LindaT
On animalwardens.co.uk website, just spotted a Found JR in Milton Keynes, picked up yesterday. Small, white female with Black and Tan markings... their ref: 320756 call 0845 241 7253 M Keynes is only about an hour away by car, so it`s a possibility? There is a JR listed as Lost there as well so may be the same one, but if Nell isn`t registered on the site it may still be worth a ring?Last edited: 2013-11-03 23:32:20 by LindaT
TigerLilly100
Thank you Becky, if its Dolly you were looking at its not Nelly, she is black on her back and Dolly was tan. :(
Becky
Hi there is a dog very similar to this advertised on a page on Facebook called forgotten dogs need loving homes , hope it's her
TigerLilly100
I sincerely hope that is the case. I am praying that the Gazette lands on the right door mat today.
Ellie
Yes Linda,I think that the fact that it's half term could be quite significant. Many people do go away for Autumn breaks and our lady may just be one of those. I think we should get some results from the Thame Gazette too. It will hopefully open the eyes of people whose neighbour may have suddenly aquired an extra dog. It's going to be a case of everyone being vigilant. I often see the locl PCSO when I'm out with my dogs but 'Sods Law ' I haven't seen her since Nell went missing. I did speak to the council man (I think his name's John} who was clearing the leaves and he said he had a poster in his vehicle and would be keeping an eye out too. I'm aiming to head towards 'Risboro' today and tomorrow, and perhaps the Phoenix Trail could be done too if anyone can help out with that . However let's keep our fingers Xd and see what the TG brings this weekend!!
LindaT
I thought that found dogs had to be reported by the finder legally? If so, has anyone contacted the police to report this sighting, if you are sure the woman who spoke to the lady with the two dogs can recognise one of them as being Nell? Perhaps with it being school holidays the woman has gone away this week, or is babysitting grandchildren and not out and about. I`m sure the PCSO would keep an eye open when she is around the village, I`ll ask two of my neighbours who walk their dogs round Chinnor if they have ever seen anyone, there is a lady in Glynswood ( almost opposite where the poster is on the fence) with 2 or 3 Jack Russels, but she would see the poster for sure!
TigerLilly100
I will drop poster off straight after work so will be with you about 5.20-30.
LindaT
By all means drop off some posters to me Tigerlilly100, I will be out and about but have visitors due at weekend for 5 days so will be tied up somewhat. I can do Emmington,Sydenham,Towersey and Lodge Hill at Bledlow if needed.
Ellie
I have put a poster down both the alleyways that go from Oakley Road to Cherrytree Road and the Mill Lane estate. I then put one in Cherrytree Road and then went left into Mill Lane and put another on the fence of a friend. I then put one at the bottom of Mill Lane (where it's unmade) and then walked up Oakley Lane. I noticed some posters along there and so I then walked along Oakley Road and put another on the fence of the house that faces Glynswood. With permission of the lady that lives there. I spoke to a couple of people on the route and they knew about Nell and said they would look out for her. I do feel now that if this lady still doesn't come forward with Nell then she's either hoping to keep her or she needs to go to Spec Savers!
TigerLilly100
I have called the it is not Nell and the owner has been found. The receptionist/nurse Emma was very helpful and has taken Nells details.
Shereen
Tigerlilly call the vets number listed o the found dogs page, admin will only know to same info listed on the page....it does say the found dog is black and tan,but worth checking just incase.
TigerLilly100
I have emailed Admin to see if they think it could be. Really need a photo.
Springer sharon
59135 dog found could this be her? Fingers crossed
TigerLilly100
Thame Gazette have called me back - will be on their website and in the paper for friday.
Shereen
Bumped due to press coverage
Ellie
Hi
Yes you can drop some round for me, I'll email you my address and phone no. I have printed some off myself and I'm going to put some up around the Cherry Tree Rd area today, that's unless there are already some there. I've got to nip over to Wendover today but will try and fit it all in. I have also had a word with a few people that I know when I was out with my dogs, so the word is getting around. I could put some posters up on Friday or the week-end. So perhaps we can all confer.
TigerLilly100
We are now on the Bucks Free Press online. I have also emailed Mix 96, Oxford FM, Radio 2, Heart and Jack FM.
I have new ink for my printer so will print a load of upate poster tonight. Ellie and Linda could I please drop some off to you tommorrow or Friday?

It has been mentioned that we may need to go further a field in towns - Princes Risborough, Kingston Blount and so on.
Could you please let me know if any of you can cover these areas with the new posters. Then I can work out who else can put them up in thwe areas we have not covered.

Linda I have contacted the councils this week. however I have not spoken with the parish council. I will do this today.
LindaT
Another thought if you haven`t already, is to contact the Parish Office and ask if anyone has mentioned a stray dog, and also contact our PCSO ( the parish office can do that ) as she may see this woman on her foot patrols which are after dark as well as during the day.
LindaT
It may be worth speaking to Radio Oxford and asking if they can mention this Oakley Lane sighting particularly as they mentioned her last Thursday 25th October when the Radio Oxford team were in Lotties Kitchen in Chinnor at about 3.10pm, the lady presenter ( if it`s the same one every day at that time ) might be keen to help as she seemed genuinly sorry to hear Nell was missing, and gave out all the details live over the air.
TigerLilly100
Hi all,

I have emailed Radio 2 and Jack FM today and the Bucks Free Press have gotten back to me so we should be in there this week too.

I am wondering if it would be an idea to print the updated posters and replace some of the ones we have in the town.

I am off to get toner today so I can print again.
TigerLilly100
Thank you Shreen.
For a couple of days its a case of sit and wait for this lady to come forward.
Please all keep your eyes open for 2 Jack Russells on lead and hope one is our girl.
We have thought that people do different walks in the week and at weekends so hopefully the lady will return to her normal walking route down Oakley Lane and see the Nelly posters. xx
Shereen

Could please update Nell's details to say there was a sighting in Elm Close at 11am the day she went missing and also on Friday 25th a lady walking down Oakley Lane had 2 Jack Russell's and spoke to another lady and mentioned that one was hers but the other had 'turned up'. We really need to get in contact with this lady as she may have Nell and be looking after her.
We have knocked on so many doors in Chinnor and still nothing.

Thank you

Today we plan to knock on all of the doors of people in Cowleaze.
We have covered all of elm drive area yesterday.
It looks like a good day to be dog walking so lets hope the lady with Nell decides to talk a walk in Chinnor.
LindaT
Have placed a poster on telegraph pole in Greenwood Avenue near the Elm Drive end; a lady in the house at the end of the cut-way in Elm Drive that leads to the main Oakley Rd has Jack Russells and has one that looks like Nell, she`s had a number of people knock on her door already, she has allowed me to place another poster in her front-door window rather than the cutway as less likely the local kids will tear it down; one poster on telegraph pole between the top end of Oakley Lane and roundabout into the Cowleaze side of estate; the Wheatsheaf pub in Oakley Lane had one inside but took another to display outside, as did the Co-op, they will display one in the petrol kiosk; one poster placed at the end of Glimbers Grove/St Andrews Road. Poster-power has on many occasions proved to be the key hasn`t it! Fingers X`d there will be some news very soon.
Ellie
Please remember the roads off of Oakley Lane and of course Mill Lane. This lady could live anywhere around there. Lots of walkers also walk their dogs along the unmade road at the bottom of Mill Lane past the farms! I feel so guilty that I can't help out tomorrow but hopefully she will be back home tomorrow with her mum!!
Shereen
Please remember with the impending storm, many posters will be blown away,so to make sure they are secured properly and checked regularly that they are still up!
TigerLilly100
Thank you all for your help.
We hoped we would find her today to bring her home.we are calling it a day for today.
Tomorrow is a new day and we will need the Oakley lane manned from daylight onwards. Hopefully who ever has her will see a poster tomorrow and get in touch. But if they have looked after her for 10 days it doesn't look like they are actively trying to get her home.
Need more posters up. Xx

Keeping everything crossed
Ellie
Oh this sounds like some good news at last. I'm out tomorrow so can't help, but will print off some posters and try and get some out on Monday. Linda, I have put a poster on the fence of the house at the end of Druids Walk. It is in a conspicuous position where people can see it. My plumber this morning new about Nell and so did my son's friend, so word is most definitely getting around! Fingers crossed for Nel!!

Just spoken to the lady, it`s not her and she has a border terrier cross but she lives in Oakley Lane and will pass word around & keep eye open. Just going now to poster, have told TigerLilly100, fingers crossed. Will ask the Wheatsheaf pub at the end of Oakley Lane to take a poster too.

fingers x'd this is Nell...And the woman can be found!...its only a matter of time I hope.xLast edited: 2013-10-26 16:30:43 by Shereen
LindaT
I don`t suppose the woman who had the Jack Russels had one who only had one eye as I might be able to locate her?
LindaT
Just managed to get printer to do half dozen posters & will go shortly to Elm Drive area, also the cutway through from there to the main road and also down Greenwood Meadow to the one-way bit out onto the main road and will put them up.

Oakley lane has been postered and we are sitting here until dark to hope the sighted woman reappears. But yes more posters in Chinnor especially where there are houses.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Peeps on way back but reported not enough posters in Chinnor...anyone able to put some up along Oakley lane please or in local shop?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Relayed info to peeps out there doing field work looking for Nell.
TigerLilly100
Everyone we have had 2 calls come through.
The first-a lady saw a woman on Oakley Lane with 2 Jack Russell's the woman said one was hers but the other had randomly turned up.this was yesterday.
And another call was from a lady in Elm Drive saw a dog she is positive was Nell about 11am on the morning she went missing. Leading us to believe that she was making her way home and that now someone may be looking after her.
Could you please refocus your efforts on Chinnor. We need to ensure everyone can see she is missing. Thank you all so much for all of your help so far. Lets bring this little lady home!
Shereen
aww thanks for the warning Ellie...we will be equipped for all conditions!were used to it.x

Thanks for the heads up Ellie!!!
Ellie
Hi Shereen
I don't have a laptop so I can't help with that, also I have the plumber coming tomorrow morning. I don't know whether anyone else can help with the laptop. If you come you will definitely need wellies and be expecting to get covered in mud. It's a jungle out there!!
nicky
I can meet you with laptop Shereen I'll ring you tomorrow to arrange meeting point as I'm not 100% sure of the area!

I've heard about these snake cams and they sound fantastic!

See you tomorrow!
LindaT
sorry I can`t be there tomorrow Shereen. I did hear Radio Oxford today in the car at 3.09 they were in Chinnow and gave out details of Nell, which can only help raise more awareness.
Shereen
I offered Dawn the use of my snake cam which can look down holes the first day I contacted her,but she declined my offer....I am willing to come over with it tomorrow, but I do need a fully charged laptop with disc drive to use it...I also have the 1 inch plumbing pipe which can be used to amplify sound and the camera can be fed down through it to look down holes......I will be able to get there approx 11 am if anyone can meet me with a laptop...ill need to load the software onto laptop...and then we can search what holes a few meters down...Last edited: 2013-10-25 16:07:47 by Shereen
TigerLilly100
The yelp was the other dog not Nelly, he is a Beagle so has a very distinct yelp, he was checked over afterwards and had no mud or leave on him and it sounded like a startled yelp more than pain.
I will write up a full desription tomorrow to post on here.
I am exhausted so am off to bed. I finish work at 3:20 tomorrow and will go straight to the quarry, if anyone can help we will be around there.
I want to see exactly where the dogs went. We are also taking a BBQ with sausage as the smell will travel . Could do with some sort of funnel to put into holes to listen and a stick with a mirror on the end of it to see more in the holes.
LindaT
I am really sorry but I won`t be around to help tomorrow. Please be careful around the quarry, not sure if you do have permission but be aware that the police sometimes have been called out to remove people who go in there, also the police helicopter gets sent out quite often over there if they have reports of people being there, health & safety etc. I have also wondered if Nell could have gone into a hole somehow, and the hole may have collapsed so it might not be visible anymore, especially with all the rain? The yelp is the thing that makes you think something is amiss, and I believe the other dog took a while to come back so perhaps both dogs got into some sort of trouble and the bigger dog could get back but not little Nell? I noticed the nets too, it would prevent a dog getting across to the Kiln estate houses I should think. The water in the lakes isn`t clear, it would be impossible to see if an animal had gone in and sunk, hope that`s not the case but it could explain no sightings. There isn`t a shop in Bledlow, TigerLilly100, do you mean Bledlow Ridge? I have today put a poster on the Gooseneck junction on Chinnor Hill( just up from the kennels where the hairpin bend is)and also on the sharp bend further along towards Spriggs Alley where the footpath goes back downhill to Crowell. It may be worth putting more posters along there as the Nell could have gone up there straight thru` the woods from the Ridgeway if she was disorientated, I didn`t see any other posters up there.I have used all my posters that TigerLilly gave me!
Ellie
That's okay. I just want to see the poor little girl home where she belongs! If you wait for me where the guard is tomorrow I'll see you then!
TigerLilly100
You are an angel for all you have done today. Lets take a shovel in hope we find her in a hole. I have a huge lead that is very sturdy so I will bring that too.
We need people to help.
Ellie
I should be able to meet you there about that time. The trouble is if she is down a hole then we would need to be able to get her out. Badger sets are normally massive and I don't think I saw a badger set there, but never mind, we'll put our plan into action tomorrow. Hopefully some others will turn up and give us a hand. Let's hope so!
TigerLilly100
thats brilliant thank you so much for doing all of that Ellie.
We cant go up there with shovels and forks - we could collapse a badger set because we dont know what we are doing. I know its what we all want to do to find her - if we know she is down a hole we can then work out a plan.
I will go up after work tomrrow about 3.30 and hopefully we can have some people to help, would you be able to meet me there?
Ellie
Hi TigerLily
Well, having spoken to the guard, I walked along with a tin of Pedigree Chum and a fork. I scrambled through the hole and wandered all around that area calling her all of the time and looking everywhere that I thought she might be. I didn't go to the bottom of the slope as I was worried that I might slide down and being on my own I thought it might be a bit risky. Anyway I found a couple of holes by a tree and left some food there. Then further on I found quite a large hole that I thought was big enough for her to have fallen into so I left some food there. I had a good look round still calling her name but couldn't see any other holes. I did notice that there were some beer cans and some broken bottles which I thought was a bit worrying especially with so much wildlife about. I hovered about for quite some time before scrambling back through the fence. I must say that it was very noisy all around with the building that was going on and the radios I could hear. Also the dogs barking from the kennels so it was almost impossible to have heard her had she been there. I then walked back towards the guard calling her all the time and peering into all the gaps that I could see. I do think that we need to go back in numbers armed with shovels and forks and possibly some rope incase we need to hang on somewhere. Also I think we should follow up the gamekeepers advice on checking out the netting where the amphibians are!
TigerLilly100
Thank you Ellie. Please take my number from the poster ending 875 - its on the whole time for when you dont have access to internet.
I dont know where that is - I may have been there.
Chicken stokck was also suggested to mix some up and pour it on the ground outside the holes - the smell may draw her out.
Ellie
Hi have just seen your posting. Yes I'll go up there this afternoon and let you know how I get on. That's true about them losing weight but I'm worried that she can't get out.
Ellie
Hi TigerLily
I've just had a word with the gamekeeper who knows this area well. He has asked if you have been onto the Cement Works where the plastic netting is ,which is there to keep the amphibians in. It's possible that she could have got stuck under there and has suggested asking one of the guards to go in there and look. He also said that there are quite a few man made holes there too where they've been excavating!
TigerLilly100
Ellie - I am just thinking - is there a way you could get to the quarry today?
I have been talking and sometimes it can take a week for a terrier to get out of a hole - they will get thinner but take moisture from the ground. So if she is able to get out of a hole she would need food ASAP. If we could get some dog food down outside some holes if she comes out it will be there for her.
I know we have the risk of another animal eating it but there is also the chance that Nelly will be that animal. Would you be able to do this? Or maybe ask one of the security guys up there to do it? Thay have been great so far.
Ellie
Well I can work my days around others, so to a point I'm a bit flexible. We just need as many people to come forward as possible. URGENT PLEASE HELP!!!!
TigerLilly100
I will talk to Fran this afternoon. We need volunteers ASAP - however I am stuck on time off from work. I took time off yesterday to search. I finish at 3.20 tomorrow afternoon so can help from then onwards.
Ellie, Linda, Shereen can you please see who would help?
I know they have already been there but its worth a shot.
Ellie
Yes I think this is a good idea. If we start with holes that are big enough for her to have fallen down and then go from there .Play it by ear as they say. Could we have some volunteers sooner rather than later please!
TigerLilly100
ok so if we think that is a possbility it maybe an idea to get a few of us together to check the holes then we can cover more ground. we could get long funnels and listen at as many holes as possible. What are everyones thoughts?
Ellie
I'm not saying that she went down the hole voluntarily, more that she fell, hence the yelp. There is a way of putting a piece of hosepipe down the hole and listening for sounds. Shereen is very up on this subject, perhaps she will put some advice on here regarding that. Dogs don't always respond if they are frightened. Some dogs will bark but others won't they will just clam up.Maybe you could tell the Fell & Moorland that you believe she is down a hole. I'm sure they would have the techniques to be able to listen in. I believe that if she was mobile then someone would have seen her, as it does seem that the terrier at Wainhill was a local one.
TigerLilly100
That she has just vanished is playing on my mind non stop - its like she went through the hole in the fence into a black hole.
There are holes and it is possible she may have gone down one, but Fran, Dawn and helpers have been all over that side and called down all the holes they have seen, waiting a while for any sound.
Also all of the bushes and any where she could have rolled down has been searched. However there is always the chance that fresh eyes may see her if that makes sense.
If we knew that she was down a hole the Fell & Moorland would help but they cant just dig up the whole quarry as there are so many holes. Nelly has never gone down a hole in the past so would she decide that day was the day to find out.
I am waiting for a reporter to get back to me from the Bucks Free Press - hopefully that will get more people ready to help.
Open to any ideas.
Ellie
There is one thing that is bothering me about all of this . Going back to the time that she disappeared, why didn't she come back when she was called? Especially as the other dog came back, and why did she yelp? It seems to me that something must have happened right there and then. Did she disturb a pheasant perhaps and then take off in fright? There are lots of pheasants and partridges up there. If this was the case then you would have heard the disturbance as they don't do it quietly. Dogs don't just vanish into thin air, which brings me back to the hole theory. Sorry to keep harping on about it but my gut theory keeps nagging at me. When you went over the fence yesterday, did you see any holes or steep slopes where she could have rolled down? I think that if she was mobile she would well have tried to get home especially as we believe that she knows the way. JR's are bright little dogs and very determined.Could somebody else please put some input on this theory. I personally feel that she is still there in that vacinity. Does anyone have any other ideas?
TigerLilly100
I wonder if we need to go further a field - Risborough, Thame, Aylesbury, West Wycombe - all of these are linked to the ridgeway and if she is still moving she could easily have gotten to these places in a week.
I drove through Bledlow last night from Chinnor on the way home and didnt see any poster by the shop.
I have emailed both the Bucks Free and the Thame Gazette and hopefully they will contact me today.
LindaT
sorry it`s my first chance to log in. I postered this morning between Bledlow and Wainhill; on the side of the wooden garage at Warren Cottage Wainhill;( where Shereen put the camera for Quigley, sure she will remember this spot? ) then just a bit further along towards Chinnor on a tree on the right by the Old Lethern Bottle ( private house on left( this is the Ridgeway ) just before the track forks to go uphill to the barrows @ Chinnor Hill; then just down the gravel bridleway by the house/forks in path as it heads back towards the Lions of Bledlow pub I put one on a tree set back to the left by the footpath sign .. just off the track. One has been put up in the Lions of Bledlow pub; one on Bec Cottage next to Bledlow Church; one left with the people at the second-to-last house on the left at Church End by the old childrens home being rebuilt; one at Bakehouse Farm (gate) in West Lane, Bledlow. Plus three other walkers took posters from me, one was going to place it up near Chinnor Hill nature reserve where it drops back down the bridleway behind Stepping Hill house; one lady was going to find a good point between Wainhill and Chinnor as she walked back with her 2 dogs. All these places are in Wainhill/Bledlow. Just wanted to point out that there is a lady who lives in one of the houses next to the Ridgeway in Wainhill that has 2 Jack Russells and I think a yellow Lab, and I have seen one of the Jack Russells on more than one occasion ferreting around quite a long way from it`s owner before scurrying along to catch up, so the Terrier spotted could possibly be one of those? Also met a dog-walker setting off and she knew all about Nell as well and was keeping an eye open too in that area.
TigerLilly100
Most of the time they would drive, however Dawn is a dog walker and walks Nelly on every walk so I am positive she will have walked it several times in her little life.
Also Dawn has walked that stretch so much this week her scent should be all over.

I think it was terrier - but in saying that someone that is not dog savvy may not know their Border from their Kack Russell. I will ask Dawn to confirm tomorrow.
Ellie
It does look like LindaT has postered along that side of the Ridgeway but I'll go up tomorrow and have a look. I'll check the posters and also have a scout around to see if she's about.
Ellie
Hi TigerLily
When Nell is walked along the Ridgeway, do you walk there from home, or do you drive and park at the Ridgeway? If you walk from home then she would possibly head for home as her natural instincts would kick in, but if she is driven to the Ridgeway then this would break her journey and confuse her. I think that if a lone bedraggled terrier was seen travelling at speed then the chances that it is Nell are good! Did the person that saw her recognise her from the posters and as a JR or did she just say that it was a terrier? Nell is so obviously a JR and I think that most people would recognise her as a JR rather than just a terrier! Sorry if this sounds a bit confusing.
TigerLilly100
LindaT has postered this morning (she posted on here at 7:07) I am unsure of the name of that area, so if someone could check that side of the ridgeway tomorrow for posters that would be great. I am back at work tomorrow so will not be able to.

As an addition to the contacts this is my email address in case anyone needs a quick response but please post on here as well so nothing is missed - misshwakefield@hotmail.comLast edited: 2013-10-23 21:38:38 by TigerLilly100
Shereen
..so approx 3 miles...has that stretch of the ridgeway been postered already?Last edited: 2013-10-23 21:24:56 by Shereen
TigerLilly100
Yes Dawn lives near enough (cowleaze) to where Nell went missing. She has a bed for her outside the front door in case she finds her way home.
Dawn and I got into the quarry itself today but still no luck.
From what Dawn has said the sighting was around Wainshill. The person said they saw a bedraggled and wet terrier going at speed towards Chinnor.
Its not confirmed that this was Nell and its a little disheartening that so many people have been around the whole area and no one has seen her.

Ellie
I've had another thought. Does the owner live within walking distance of where she disappeared? If so would it be likely that she would find her way home on her own?
Ellie
Hi again shereen
If Nell was seen 5 miles away then that would be around the Risboro' area!Last edited: 2013-10-23 19:37:50 by Ellie
Ellie
Hi Shereen
The sighting was apparently at Wainhill and she was heading back towards Chinnor. I think that Wainhill is aprox 1 mile from where the Ridgeway crosses Chinnor Hill. I have no idea who saw her but was told this today! Perhaps someone else can confirm!Last edited: 2013-10-23 19:33:34 by Ellie
Shereen
Well done Ellie..I asked owner today where this poss sighting was and she didn't know (as came in 3rd hand apparently),but said approx 5 miles away??...Wainhill is much closer isn't it?
Ellie
I've been to Crowell and had a word with the person in the pub who has kindly put a poster up for us. I then went down the lane and spoke to a lovely helpful lady in the end cottage who kindly let me put a poster on her gate post. She is also going to spread the word to various people that she knows. I then put a poster along the footpath that is very popular with dog walkers and comes out on the bend into Chinnor. I then went on to the Nature Reserve at the Crowell end and put a poster up on the great big tree there and walked along to the 'spooky trees' which I believe is where they form a canopy and where there is a buddleia bush in the middle. I then walked back calling her name and looking through the hedge in as many places as I could. I did meet Mel on my mission and she said that there was a possible sighting between Wainhill and Chinnor yesterday which if it was her is brilliant news! I also spoke to one of the guards who said he would keep an eye out for her and he also said he would walk to Wainhill today and look for her. Bless!
TigerLilly100
I was out from 9pm til 11pm last night calling for her.
Have printed more posters today and am asking Admin to add a £200 reward. People will look harder for £200.
LindaT
Thanks for the posters TigerLilly100. I am going to walk from Bledlow to Hilltop Lane and back via Wainhill this morning so can put some up in those areas, I will keep one back & get copies done in the shop. Unfortunately I have caught Peter Carrington removing posters on his estate before but will ask Mark at the Lions of Bledlow to display one and try to get others up where they will stay up! Just editing to say it`s Rupert not Peter, but if I see him I will ask if we can poster on his landLast edited: 2013-10-24 00:46:46 by LindaT
LindaT
Thanks TigerLilly100, have just texted you, sorry I have only just got back on computer!
TigerLilly100
Linda I will print you some posters - my number is 07794 251 875. Text me your address and I will drop some to you tomorrow.
LindaT
sorry I can`t print off posters as my printer is on blink, I will be walking Bledlow/Saunderton area today and over next few days if someone wants to drop posters off to me I will be happy to take some with me. I have texted Dawn a couple of times so she will have my mobile number I think.
TigerLilly100
I dont think that area has been done yet. I am seeing Dawn tonight for an update from today. tomorrow I can do some areas too. Fran has been working today but I think she has poster.
Can you please put one there and ask in the pub.
I will drive home through Bledlow so if its not too dark Ill do that tonight - if not Ill get up there tomorrow.
Ellie
Have you done Crowell around the Shepherds Crook area? If not I can put one up there and ask in the pub too. If you can put on here the areas that you have already done then we can infill.
TigerLilly100
Thank you Ellie thats great.
We need to get further afield to ensure we have the best chances possible of getting her home - 5 days she could cover some ground - Bledlow, Princes Risborough, Stokenchurch and so on.
Ellie
Hi
I've printed some off and have put one up on the fence along Glynswood. With kind permission of the owners of course. It's in a place where lots of people pass from the Glynswood estate so should get a good bit of attention. I'm sorry but that's all I will have time to do today as duty calls, but hopefully will get some more out tomorrow when I will have more time.Last edited: 2013-10-22 12:56:01 by Ellie
TigerLilly100
we are contacting Fell and Moorland to see if they can help search for Nell.
Could you all please print some posters and get them out there. She has to be somewhere.
LindaT
lostdogsuk.co.uk is the website for SDK
LindaT
I know I did Text this to you Dawn but just to confirm that SDK Environmental is the company that do the dog-collection service for all the councils in the Chilterns areas, Bucks, Herts, Oxon and you can look on their website ( I have been checking )where they have photos of dogs collected, also phone them on 01803 696 910. Also let the microchip company know she is missing. Is there any chance the owners of the site would let you row out in a boat if you could borrow one? Also if the weather clears perhaps the paragliders who jump from the bbont site on Chinnor Hill could have a look as they go over? Afraid I didn`t get home in time to go for another look today, will try tomorrow morning again.
TigerLilly100
We have printed more posters to plaster all over Chinnor. If someone has found her and decided to keep her they will have to give her up when there are pictures of her missing everywhere.
Dawn (owner)and I are going to the quarry Wednesday with a shovel to check the holes. Before then if anyone goes up there please look in shrubbery in case she is hurt and sheltering.
Calls will be made to all the councils and rescues again tomorrow.
If there are any ideas please share.
Ruth
Might be worth letting the local postman know as they're obviously out walking. Also, are there any early morning milk deliveries in the area that you could give a poster to - if she's lying low she might be out and about as it's getting light rather than the main part of the day.
TigerLilly100
Just called them and was told I have to call the council.
So it apprears that they only take dogs in that have come through the council. Last edited: 2013-10-21 14:24:08 by TigerLilly100
Shereen
Has anybody called Maccabee Pet hotel? 01844 342515 to see if she was taken in there over the weekend?
Ellie
Have you checked out any holes along that side and around the area that she disappeared? It is quite easy for small dogs to get into them. Someone has already mentioned the dog kennels up the hill but it might be worth having a word with them too!
TigerLilly100
The security men have been down that side to look a few times from what I understand - they have been really helpful.
I will have a look into the 'Tuesday Gang' - Fran may have already spoken to them - I do know they were given a poster yesterday.
Ive been on the phone to the rescue centres, vets and high wycombe council and oxford council. Who else can I call? We are hoping someone has found her over the weekend and will take her to the vets/rescue place today.
Ellie
Wow TigerLilly100 well done! That's a lot of posters. Is it possible to get over the fence? I know there are quite a lot of 'keep Out'signs as well as the security guards at the end whose main job I believe is to stop people swimming in the lakes. Perhaps they might let you get over or possibly look for you. As I said earlier I can't get there 'til Weds due to work but will keep an eye on progress. Just an after thought but the 'Tuesday Gang' will be working at Chinnor Station tomorrow so might be worth having a word with them too, if you haven't already done so!
LindaT
Just got back from walking all along from Chinnor to Crowell end and back again, calling softly & using my binoculars where I could, it was difficult to identify if the sounds I heard were all from the gulls etc on the lakes and the wind was in my ear, also the dog-boarding kennels(ForestGlade) is only a few 100 yds away. I also sat in my car for a good 15 mins at the entrance to Kiln Lake estate and looked thru` my bins., the only white thing I spotted was across near the Ridgeway and I couldn`t be 100% sure but looked like white pieces of plastic bags caught in a tree, moving in the wind. I did wonder if it was possible for Nell to have fallen down into one of the trees on the bank though? It was in about the right place where the dogs got thru` Spoke to owner who said they will put up some posters along the trail, there are a lot of walkers who only go one way on a long trek but they may spot Nell if she got out further along, so posters there would be a good thing as soon as possible, and also around Chinnor, Glynswood in particular as the kiln lakes area backs onto the fields there and Nell could pop up on that estate. Will try & have another look later today if I get home before dark.
TigerLilly100
Hi Ellie, yesterday Fran and I knocked on every door in that estate and gave out and posted 90 posters, so at the very least 100 people know to be on the look out for Nell.
Ellie
So sorry to see that Nell is missing. I know this area quite well as I walk my JR's along there quite often. It seems mysterious that only one should return! Are there any holes in this area where perhaps she could have fallen in? It's hard for me to help today and tomorrow as I am working, but could get out from Wednesday onwards. I think it would be helpful to put a poster or two up at the Kiln Lakes Estate as they aren't too far away and some of the houses there have quite good views across to the hills from their windows, also at the beginning of the Ridgeway where you park cars. There are also lots of brambles etc where she could get caught up in although if there has been extensive searches then this would rule this out. I do know that there are quite a lot of Fox holes and badger sets along the Ridgeway as I can never let my Parson off his long lead because he constantly sticks his nose in them and would be down them in a blink of an eye. Perhaps it would be a good idea to concentrate on them at the moment!

Hope Nell is found safe & well & is back home soon.
Shereen
Ok I have a more precise area the dogs went into the quarry....as you park at the Chinnor end of the ridgway and walk towards Crowell,on the right hand side you will see gates that say keep out... approx 30 yards on from there was the hole in the fence that the two dogs got into, the hole is big enough to fit a medium dog through so fairly large...just as they went through and a little bit in ,is where the yelp was heard.....People have searched extensively all weekend...I am just emailing some more advice and scenting instructions to the owner now.Last edited: 2013-10-21 09:44:51 by Shereen
Ruth
Linda, we've only heard about this one third-hand via facebook, but as of yesterday Nell was still missing. Shereen is going to try to speak to the owner today to get some more details and see if we can help. I'm hoping to get down there later today after I finish work to have a look around.
LindaT
Meant to suggest taking binoculars as it could be the only way to get a clear view down into the quarry/lakes areas
LindaT
Do you mean the trees that form a tunnel parallel to the B4009 at the far side of the field between Crowell & Chinnor? Is there any possibility you can get closer by going to the end of the new estate road at Old Kiln Lakes housing development, perhaps she has got through into there as it`s by the Crowell end? Will try & get out later this morning and have a look. There is usually a security van working for the developers of the new estate parked on the Ridgeway at the Chinnor end where it crosses Hill Road, if you haven`t already I will ask them to keep an ear/eye open as they are supposed to patrol up and down between Crowell & Chinnor and are there 24/7 I believe.

Sorry to see that NELL MISSING 4 YEARS is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (58668)

  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
