This has just been received. Would the owner of these animals please contact the Andover police to see if they are her stolen ferrets please:

9. Ferrets.

In the early hours of Friday 11th October, police in the Andover area arrested three men and seized three ferrets which were found in circumstances which lead the officers to suspect that they may have been stolen. They are currently trying to identify the owner of these animals. If you keep ferrets, or you know someone that does, please can you check that you do not have any missing. If you do have some missing please contact Hampshire Police on 101 and quote reference number 44130385475.

I have just received an email on my "Stolen Dogs" Facebook page and think it should be reported to the police as the birds might be sold here: Regarding the theft of the Saluki and 60 Roller canaries, this might be useful.

Please crosspost:

We have recently had a report of a huge theft of birds from a shop in Wyke Bradford, and comments talk about a bird fair where they think they may end up...also this was mentioned, may help..."If any of the birds were ringed please email details to enquiries@birdregister.co.uk and they will record them as stolen in case they ever get registered again . Bird register keep the status of birds forever so even if they get re registered to a new owner in 5 years we will still know they were stolen from you. This should also help find the perpetrator as the amount of birds stolen may pop up in various places with a common source. this was the comment about the bird show so i guess its this weekend "The Stafford bird show is on next week end"Last edited: 2013-10-12 08:58:19 by colliebird

Detectives in Woking are appealing for help from members of the public after a dog, five ferrets and more than fifty canaries were stolen in an overnight burglary in Woking. The animals were taken in a raid on a house in the Goldsworth area sometime between 10pm on Wednesday (2 October) and 5am the following morning. The dog, a distinctive smooth haired Saluki of white and red colouring, called Dolly, was taken from a utility room at the back of the house. The three albino female ferrets, one male and one female cream and dark brown ferrets were removed from hutches situated at the back of the garden. The yellow songbird canaries were stolen from an aviary in a shed. The pedigree dog is micro chipped and is valued at £1,500. The birds are each tagged with a ring on an ankle displaying an identification number. They are valued at £1,500. The thieves managed to enter the site via the next door garden and climbed over a back fence. Detective Constable Clare Nettleton investigating said: "The owner is extremely upset at the loss of these animals and I am appealing for anyone who knows the whereabouts of any of them to contact officers. Maybe you have been offered one or all of these animals for sale or have noticed them on sale in unusual circumstances? "In order to remove the birds and ferrets the offenders would have needed to use some form of bag or cage and I am urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity to contact Surrey Police.” Anyone with information which might help locate the animals and bring the offenders to justice is asked to call
