  • Other Info Found wandering around alone, wearing a collar but no leash. Would not come when called - just barked and ran off. I was putting out some dog food for the foxes and this dog was eating it, so may have been hungry. I knocked on several doors and asked if anyone knew the dog but nobody did. They said they would keep an eye out for him. One man said he would call the RSPCA but, from experience, they will tell him to call the dog warden, who will pick him up and euthanise in 7 days if not claimed. Sorry I can&#

I looked through the lost list on Doglost onthe 25th and contacted the people who have lost Niah,a staffy cross, in HA3 (this dog was found in HA2). They met me where I found it and spent the next few hours looking for it (I left them after 4 hours but they probably stayed out all night). The dog had been sighted again minutes before we got there and had been seen by at least 5 people in the preceding 24 hours. We searched everywhere but did not find it. I think it had been going back to the same spot for food, as I always leave food for the foxes in the same place. I will continue to do so. The people who think it might be their dog (there's no guarantee that it is) said they would put posters up locally and inform local schools, shops etc. I will take my camera out every night and try to get a photo, but the dog was quite nervous and I may not be able to. Niah does not have a microchip but, again, we don't know that this is her.

Any chance of somebody getting a photo of this dog? Approx age of dog and shape for instance, could he be a German Shepherd or similar dog? Does he return to the same place each day for food? if so would someone be prepared to continue feeding until he gains their confidence and then maybe a trap could be laid for him to go into with food to catch him. He may originally have been dumped or even stolen and may even have a chip for owner to be traced.Last edited: 2013-01-25 09:29:10 by ClaireC
