Just a bit more information about Ziggy. We were increasingly sure that Ziggy could have been taken by a fox or even a badger. Both animals are in abundance around here and there are urban foxes dumped here by the RSPCA who catch them in Derby. However, Owl and other sources of information and tips on the web indicate that both types of animal are highly unlikely to attack. let alone kill, a live dog, both being very wary of dogs. To all at Doglost. I am Jeremy, the owner of our lovely little dog Ziggy, who went missing on the 27'th. Thank you, all, so very much for the fantastic effort and work in printing posters and distributing them and working to find Ziggy. There have been walkers searching the aerea, phone calls, texting and all sorts spreading the word. Today, Owl and her fabulous tracker dog, came to us and after being introduced to Ziggy's scent, we set off in a North Westerly direction across the fields with a positive "live" dog scent. After two hours the tracker was getting tired so we came home to have a bite to eat and a hot drink. When owl left as we went outside to the car the tracker immediately Froze sensing the same scent from the North West. Owl was clear that this was the scent of a live dog. We had lost all hope finding Ziggy at all, let alone alive, and now there is a glimmer of hope. This sad experience has taught us that there are a lot of fantastic and kind people out there and to you all I send my heartfelt thanks. Happy New Year to you all and fingers crossed of a happy outcome. Jeremy.

This dog is already top of my list due to her age, so will give Mark a call this evening. Weather tomorrow looks reasonable and I am only an hour's drive away. Wandering old dogs can be harder to track than one would think, they double back on their tracks and go round in circles, but we will happily give it a go. Meanwhile I suggest a flyer drop to every single home in Brailsford.

Thanks Munro33, looks like the black patch is over the other eye for dog 46751, and Ziggy was microchipped...
Thanks for helping.

hi there, was just scanning the found dogs and could dog 46751 be ziggy? i know it is quite far from where she was taken but people do take dogs and then dump them further away and the markings sound so similar...
Mark
What a great idea, I will see if I can get in touch. Our other dog, a Westie, has behaved strangely since Ziggy went missing, possibly due to scents he's picked up, so it might work??
Thanks again.

Thank you ever so much for your support and offer to help, it's greatly appreciated. We have already taken posters to the local Post Office and shops, vets and rescue centres, and local radio stations with announcements. I suppose the more publicity the better. Because we live in a fairly remote area and Ziggy's age we fear the worst, but obviously we are trying to do all we can to find her. Thanks again for your support.

Hi Sue, Ziggy is 16 years old, half blind and rather deaf. She was let out into the garden on the evening of the 27th Dec and was never to be seen again. It is very unlike her to wander off, she is not very agile and rarely strayed far from the house. We are worried a fox could have something to do with her disappearance. Many thanks for your help, best regards, Mark.

Mark how old is Ziggy?

Sorry to see that ZIGGY is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (46815)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
