The owner has desperately left messages on the phone of the person who took Scrappy to the vets. They never answer, but they do ring back in the early hours of the morning, very abusive and telling owner you are never going to get your dog back. Onto Plan B nowLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Removalman, unfortunately we cannot divulge the location of the vets. We can say that the person with Scrappy claimed to live in HA3 area, this address was checked out by owner with police escort and there was no dog matching Scrappys description at this address. The owner does have contact with owner via mobile telephone number given. I am not at liberty to post any further info at present as it may jeopardize the situation.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for that Dee, if that is the case then the law is an ass! I used to work in security and there were no probs about distributing pics of suspects, but that was early 90's. I will look into it further. In the meantime can anyone please advise which medivet 'Scrappy' was taken to? No point in postering Pinner Green if he is being kept around Kenton which is other side of Harrow. Cheers and good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

removalman, unfortunately the law says only the police have the right to over ride the Data Protection Act, not us. We cannot therefore publish any photos (and we can't even get them if there are any - the police have to do that) without being prosecuted ourselves.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

CCTV as related to data protection act is not relevant in this case. A crime has been committed. The person who took the dog may or may not be implicated. However, even if unwittingly, they are a material witness in the case. The fact they gave false details to the vet would seem to implicate them. So, any chance of having their pic posted within 'Scrappy's' poster? Then a lot of postering hopefully leading to a result.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keellah07- I have the pic from CCTV for you. Its not a bad one, pretty clear. I will email it across for you so you can add it to your press release. Someone will reconise this guy for sure. Surely this must count as theft tho too?? Should i take it in to the police too?? xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have checked yellow pages there are half a dozen medivets in and around Harrow. HA3 would seem to suggest Kenton Rd branch which probably has catchment area Wealdstone to Preston Rd. Can anyone advice is this being treated as a criminal offence, ie if a similar dog is seen what should be done. Options are following to an address, calling police, calling owners etc, any advice? The problem is there are probably a lot of similar staffs around. Cheers. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi guys good luck with Scappy will keep an eye out. Couple of queries, was the contact number landline or mobile? If landline might give an idea of location. If mobile can't police try a trace, or is this not priority? Also, I think there are a couple of medivets in Pinner, my dog is registered at Pinner Green branch, let us know as also a pointer to location. There are quite a lot of staffies round Pinner Green, will poster. Cheers. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Harrow/Harlow - same difference I suppose!!! What's an L between friends? No difference, actually this is better than Harlow as know Harrow media and volunteers well and they are GOOD! Let me know as soon as you have the CCTV of the thieving scum and we will get it in the papers - data protection does not count at this stage - it only comes into force when you KNOW who is in the footage. If you need to ID people through CCTV its fair game. Come home soon scrappy!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just spoken to Medivet in Harrow and they are going to let me see there CCTV footage tomorrow morning. Oh my just what is happening to our country? honest folk who just want to get on with life are put through this sort of agony. Why oh why are some people so awful? Not a care the owners or dogs feelings make me really sad people are like this not a thought for any one only themselves (so selfish) Thank goodness honest animal owners are not like this. Be home soon Scrappy where you really belong with your real loving owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

we have had one good result in harlow this week so lets have another - am sure milly's mum would not mind keeping an eye on scrappy until his owner can come down and collect him. Surely these people need to understand that people just want their dogs back and if they can do that without the police and other authorities being involced (we are all busy) then that is what they want. come on scrappy show your face and come home where you belongxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Terrible of the keeper to require a financial benefit before parting with a dog that is known to be stolen. Such a shame that the vet wasn't legally able to keep Scrappy when he was scanned. Personally I would pay in a heartbeat to get my dog back, it's justt too awful when they are missing. I guess that's what thieves/keepers rely on.....Hope there is some good news soonxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Latest info leads us to the Harlow area. Someone presented a dog at a vets for chipping, he was scanned and he turned out to be Scrappy. The person told the vet that he had brought the dog from someone in Cheshire. He left his name, address and contact number with the vets. The vets contacted Scrappys owner and gave the details, it works out the address is false however the contact number is valid, the person is now asking for money to return the dog. West Midlands Police have co-operated so far instructing the other area to seize Scrappy if sighted.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

47 dogs seized around this area. Would the police check for microchips in these circumstances? Maybe not. I hope people that have lost this type of dog check quickly to see if their dog's involved in this. I wouldn't imagine these dogs will be kept around for too long. I though of Scrappy straight away but I can't see a contact telephone number. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/4875782.stm Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went out last night and came back late, it was dark and couldnt see a thing, opened my front door and fell over a bottle of wine which had been put on my doorstep. It must have been left by Scrappys mum and dad. People normally fall over after the influence of alcohol not from kicking a bottle - ha ha ha ha! Hi Sara, my boyfriend has questioned me too about the amount of time i spend on the website, and why all the posterings! I have to say since Jake was taken it has been very hard, but one thing that helps you through is this website! I always say to my boyfriend, if i can help get someones elses dog back with the advice i was given and any postering i can do, then i know that Jake being stolen was not for all bad, i have never got Jake back, but knowing that i have helped someone else in some way is a comfort! Sorry to blab on and back to Scrappy - Have there been any sightings? He is such a beautiful boy, i cannot understand how he has not been spotted somewhere! Have all the posties been notified? and the sorting offices?? I hope he is back soon!!! Thinking of you!? Sarah - Jake 21.1.05 x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jayne - although I appreciate your note of thanks - this isn't what I'm doing it for. As I explained to my husband who questioned why I was spending so much time putting up posters for dogs I don't know - I told him that if (heaven forbid), one of our precious babies went missing whatever the reason we would be out hail or high storm looking for them and the thought of other people doing the same for our dogs would bring a comfort that the more eyes that are opened to that missing dog - the fewer hiding places!!! Am not allowed out of the house this next few days (doctors orders) but will resume my search for Scrappy and any other missing dog asap. Carry on the good work all, the dogs need us. Still keeping eyes and ears peeled for even the slightest bit of news. Have noticed a lot of people reading the posters I have put up around Marston Green, especially those close to bus stops. People are reading them while waiting for buses. Sara xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Am going to run off some more posters, and get them put into a members only social club and a few pubs in and around Marston Green, see if that jogs any memories. Scrappy is such an unusual coloured staff that anyone who has seen him is sure to remember. Sara xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please give the kids an extra cuddle for me. Nothing I can say can make it better for them other than if anyone can get Scrappy back, its these guys. Sue xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The undesirable areas are not immediately in our area. Owner did go onto these estates by himself....which is something I wouldnt recommend. The word is out, posters are up and everyone is looking.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh Watson, those poor children. My kids were exactly the same when my EBT died in May. My 4 yr old daughter was crying for him only last night. The mindless morons that take these animals just have no idea how far and deep the hurt goes. It doesn't occur to them that the dogs are family members too - it's like someone taking your child. My thoughts are with the family. Sara xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The family has two young children, this is affecting them greatly. They cant sleep, they are dreaming about Scrappy....they dont want to eat, play or do anything. They just want their dog home with them. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
