I contacted the finder of the dog below and happily he has been reunited with his owners through an alternate number on his microchip - so sadly not red.Last edited: 2012-10-12 21:30:49 by skippy

Such a very long time that Red has been missing, but the national pet register has found report today:

Uttlesford District - Essex
Postcode - CM23
Found on - 10-10-2012
Listed on October 10, 2012
Pet Type - Dog
Pet Breed - Terrier
Dominant Colour - Tan
Approx Age - 10
Gender - Male
Neutered - Yes
Distingushing Marks - Very grey around the muzzle
Reported By - n/a

Owner information on Microchip appears to be out of date. Last phone number on system was for 0208 area

Red is an older male neutered Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is very friendly and relaxed in the veterinary environment.

He is predominantly tan colored but is very grey around his muzzle leading us to believe that he is an older gentleman but he still has plenty of spring in his step and love in his heart. He is in very good condition, perhaps a little overweight so he cannot have been away from home very long.

If you think this may be your dog then please send me an email on NikkieSheepie@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for asking Lisa. Still no news I'm afraid. I've been doing what I can to check out the addresses I was given, but just can't catch sight of any dogs. It's seeming more and more unlikely tho as neighbours don't recognise the pictures. There are too many possibilities for where he could have gone and I have no other leads. I still think it was pikey's that took him and they could have sold him on anywhere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Ruth - good to meet you today and thanks for coming. I think that with a bit of planning we could do DOGS AGAINST THEFT properly and campaign to get the law changed, etc. Anyway, it would be great if you and I co-ordinate where we can. I'm in N7. None of our sightings seem to coincide completely, but I do have some North London leads that I need to chase up in N16, Camden and Angel. So if you would like me to include your poster with mine (to vets), just email me - lorimack@gmail.com Good to meet someone who's not ready to give up!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

1 lead down, 2 to go. Finally saw the staff I've had so many calls about. He looks similar so it's not surprising, but it's not Red. Just goes to show that posters do get looked at and there are plenty of people willing to keep a look out. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello. Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I run a private business and we've been having a difficult time... Haven't stopped looking for my boy though and really appreciate the help from everyone. I'm following 3 leads at the mo - spending a lot of time hangin out in my car in dodgey area's! So frustrating though as I haven't seen anything that will help either way yet. Red went missing a few times from his preious owner, but was always picked up immediately and returned as a result of his chip. They never had any trouble scanning him so I can't imagine that his chip could have migrated that much as he's not that old. But like you said, it's always worth a try. Thanks for your help everyone. I did notice it said not chipped but unfortunately chips can migrate and not be found. It also says they think he's about 18months to 2 years but a little while ago a dog was said to be about 5 yrs, turned out to be 14!!!Everything is worth a try. If my dog was missing I'd have to check out every possibility and I'd hate someone to miss out on a chance to find their much loved dog. ChrisLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a thought, have you thought of trying a pet psychic to try and trace Red. I know theres been lots of Dogs recovered when people consult pet psychic John Starkey, all he requires is a photo of the dog,an exact map of the area where the dog was taken from and either a toy or something the dog really loved. His address to contact him is 210 Penn Road, Wolverhampton WV4 4AA, his telephone number is 01902 334224, I've been told that you can send him the map and photos etc and if he can help he will tell you and then you pay ?50 or there abouts. Worth a try. Hope this is of some help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters are going missing all over the place, but hard to know if it's guilty people or the authorities. Going out again this weekend to replace. Had a couple of calls last weekend from kids saying they'd seen him wandering round on his own, but none of the dog walkers or fishermen have seen him. Quite a few people reckon they've seen him with a guy and all give the same description, but no calls since the weekend.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can't see details on found page. The kennel guy didn't want to keep her and has been offering her to everyone he knows. Just feel sorry for the owners who must be missing her. I'm getting really frustrated with trying to find my boy. There was a really positive sighting last week and some of my posters have been taken down. I don't know whether to keep a low profile and hope to catch the guy or to poster like mad and risk sending him underground. Been trying to get CCTV footage, but the police are slow and the council.. it's like getting blood out of a stone. Can't even be 100% it was him. Got a call from an Irish lady on Mon to say she'd seen him dead by the side of a road, but turned out to be a large fox. It's such an emotional rollercoaster.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Guys be careful about putting exact addresses of places you are looking in on site, please pm information to each other if you can - not only could it be seen as a direct accusation - but people living in those communities use the internet - and watch this site - you may therefore be giving information away that you don't intend to. Be as non-specific as you can, if you can.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dear All, I am still alive, Just had to take a back seat for today and have a head clearing day. That call to that "THING" last night really slaughtered me. It takes a hell of alot to break me and I've stood up to some quality abuse over the years, outstanding fights etc etc but for a so called living person to say what he said totally screwed with my head. I would of prefered a spank then listen to what I did. I have already informed Jayne lastnite that I'm throwing the towel in but having had some "me time" today I'm going to bounce back and continue trying to help everyone I can. I've worked flat out all week, not slept or ate much so guess just got me at a weak moment ( Yep I do have em ). Thieves know well the law with regard to ransom/reward. I'd be surprised if this sick idiot had Red, but it seems to be akin to a few sick comments that have been made to owners in the past about their dogs. I think they should be prosecuted just for having the audacity to make a hoax call as well as the thieves. Sadly, some people find it fun to put owners through more hell than they are already suffering. Keep postering guys, if Red has been dumped or sold on, he'll have been seen by someone somwhere... he's an usually marked dog so will be distinctive. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The police were as helpful as they could be, but without knowing where the dog is there's not a lot they can do. They said that no-one has the right to demand money even if a reward is offered and I'm not under any obligation to pay anything. If the guy has my dog and refuses to give it back, this is 'theft by finding' and they can charge on those grounds. To be considered blackmail, there has to be a threat of violence. I don't know about extortion. If there's a positive id on the dog, they will go and pick it up, if I arrange to meet the guy, they will accompany me. It's really hard coz you can guarentee if they see police, they won't show up, but there is no way I'd want to meet up with these people without some kind of protection as I reckon they're quite capable of just mugging me and not giving the dog back anyway.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
