I am very glad that Penny is back home. I had a call from our vet on Friday to say that a client of thiers was trying to catch this dog on the Roundabout (both dog and finder lucky not to have been run over!) They were advised by the veterinary nurse as soon as they caught it to bring the dog into the surgery or nearest surgery to be scanned for a microchip or take it to our kennels. This dog was definately picked up with the very best intention and advice was sought even before the dog was caught.

Hi, I am so glad this baby is back home! Owners, you really never know. Your suspicions may have been correct and then they thought better of it and let her go, or handed her in. It can happen in the blink of an eye. But whether it was or whether somehow she wandered off, the best news is she is home! Well done for notifying the dog warden and registering on here. Welcome home Penny. Big kiss from us. x

Fab news, was worried about this little one

Caroline2012, I wouldn't completely rule out the snatched theory, she could have been "too hot to handle",moreso if the thief saw the tattoo. Keep a close eye on her as she is small and therefore easy to steal. It's good that she is chipped AND has a tattoo. xx

Phew!what a relief, too many dogs going missing from the SS postcode area so it's nice to see little Penny home safe and sound. Welcome home Penny and no more wandering off! xx

We are delighted to report that Penny has been found. My husband (theofficer) has just collected her from the kennels where she was handed in last evening (apparently within two hours of her going missing). It seems that she wasn't snatched after all - sorry to the lady and girl who we thought were suspicious! She took a wander - we have learnt a valuable lesson.

So far we have registered on here, informed the local dog warden, our own vet and the boarding kennels which we used recently when we had to go away for the weekend. We will ring other vets when they are open tomorrow. We also rang the police who said that they would not log an incident until Penny had been missing for 24 hours.

That's right, she does not have a tattoo. My elder son registered her on my wife's behalf (Caroline2012) before going out - and we don't know the login details. We are all so upset. Penny had really become part of the family - a new experience for me, not having had a dog before. We have a strong suspicion that she was snatched. Our other (younger) son is almost eighteen and profoundly autistic/non-verbal. He was waiting on the doorstep for transport to respite care, whilst my wife was packing his suitcase. It is a constant struggle trying to make our son wait indoors, not helped by the fact that school transport expects him to be waiting outside in the morning when they arrive. We had grown accustomed to Penny not wanting to stray out of the front door (she has plenty of secure space to roam in the back and shows all the signs of being content and secure at home). However, we are certain she would come out if coaxed, especially where children are involved and there was a largish car parked outside our house with a woman acting suspiciously and a small girl. They were there for some time, fidgeting with doors. Even if our autistic son saw what was happening he would not likely be able to tell us - we have the greatest difficulty with the most basic communications. The car went and perhaps just ten minutes later we realised that Penny was missing. Afterwards my wife said to me that she nearly asked the woman what she was doing outside our house but thought better of it (partly because I'm always telling her not to interfere!)
We cannot prove that Penny was snatched but I think that my wife's hunch is credible.Last edited: 2012-07-07 00:14:12 by theofficer

This little one is a Cavalier king Charles (NOT a King Charles) Suspect the tattoo bit may be incorrect - not usually done. Have put her on our ckcsforums. Hope she is found soon .
