email received: a friend has posted on facebook having seen a Rhodesian ridgeback in the dunstable area; Spotted in fields at the top of Frenches Ave/Sewell Village area. I thought of 'Lou' who went missing in Caddington near dunstable, and thought perhaps it is worth taking the search in that direction? I hope this is of some help, best wishes, Laura

This is a long shot but Rochdale Dog Rescue have an elderly Ridgeback "Millie" listed on their urgent dogs number 3595. It does say she is micro chipped presumably they haven't been able to contact the owners.

Oldies have an elderly Ridgeback on their site, found in a field and handed to RSPCA.

Hello, sorry to hear your dog has gone missing and that I have not replied sooner. CBC dog wardens are aware that your dog is missing, it would be best to let Luton and Dacorum dog warden know about your dog too. If I have any information or reports of sightings to us I will conact u ASAP. I hope she is returned safe and well soon

Vix, in that case you need to get a crime number from the police and say that Lou has been stolen. They may not take this as they often want more evidence, but if you can say that there were other people around, or vehicles or that she has simply vanished and is old so could not have gone anywhere herself, they may take this as a crime. And, you need to poster heavily outside every travellers site you can find. You need to do everything you can - newspapers, radio, facebook, twitter if you can. Tell everyone that's she old & sick and people will see the urgency of finding her. Contact all the Vets - see the ad on the right of this page and click on it. Keep calling dog warden and rescues as sometimes they forget - you have to pester them. Put millions of posters up. Make her too hot to handle. Keep safe Lou, Mummy and your baby are looking for you. xLast edited: 2011-09-04 12:46:28 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Vix - really sorry to read of your plight. Have you started to contact all the vets around your area? I would reach out to some further away from you too. As a ridgeback owner, I really feel for you and hope Lou is found very soon.

Just managed to print posters off today. She's never far from me and doesn't wander off. If she ever loses sight of me she just criss crosses where she last saw me and was shouting for her and looking for her all night with her son. It's not far from her home so she knows how to go home which she's done before. Only reason she hasn't come home is because someone has taken her. I looked in all the hedges and bushes and gone back everyday with her son incase he can scent her. He is very upset and misses her lots as we all do. Who ever took her please return her to her family as she doesn't cope well out of her family and home comforts. Thanks everyone for their help and support

Owner, have you checked all the obvious places, bushes, ditches etc? Are there any railway lines? Were there any vehicles in the area? Any people? How far away was she from you? Please poster heavily all around that area and then outswards as in my e-mail. Please confirm for us. Thank you. We are all hoping and praying for Lou's safe return. x

Thank you for updating my FB Rhodesian Ridgeback UK Lost & Found. I will also update my wall (I have many RR owners as my FB friends)& will alert RR WelfareTrust. Do we have any info on how she went missing? Update - the RRWT have put out the info so there are a few more ears to the ground.

Sorry to see that LOU is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (32415)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
