Oh, I can't believe this, fantastic. I have an RR who could fend for herself if necessary ( raw fed), just shows you what dogs can do if they have to. So pleased for you David and all concerned. Jytte, Yorks

Oh I'm so so glad. I was only looking again yesterday afternoon. Lots of hugs Barnaby and I'm so glad you were found. It's bought tears to my eyes as my girl was lost in those same woods but our outcome wasn't as happy. Way to go Barnaby....

Jane
I am so pleased that Barnaby is back, and I bet he is too. I had a feeling that he was still with us, but I thought that he had been picked up by someone and taken home with them. Where was he? Was it that field near the A349m? He is one very lucky boy. I am made up for you all, and big thanks to all those supporters on dog lost. Since having dogs I have realised that there is so many supportive and nice dog owners out there who step up when someone needs help x
Little Bear
YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh My, this is THE BEST news!!!! I've been in Wales, just got back last night and was stealing myself to log in and find out. My elderly Mum has asked about him every day too - she'll be thrilled! Dave, give him a massive hug from us. We've been there, we know the trauma and the elation. I did joke that Annie was going to wear leg irons to stop her running away again...we compromised with a very snug harness! hee hee. I do love a happy ending! :-)

Oh, I'm so thrilled I'm going to have a big glass of wine! :-)
digbysmum
Brilliant! Have been really worried for Barnaby, and, I have to say, fearing the worst. Welcome home beautiful Barnaby - stay safe now xx (Hope dad is getting you chipped soon) x
David
Cannot believe it! He is sat next to me now as though nothing has happened-massive thank you to Stella and Paul, the person who sighted him, and Mandy yhe dog warden, and everyone who has helped (sounds a bit like a thank you speech from the Oscars!), had given up that he would be found alive-absolutely amazing. Just goes to show that however bad it seems, dogs are very tough, and you can never give up on them!

Again thank you to all!

Dave and Barnaby
Treedogs
Woohoo! Barnaby is safe and sound and back with Dave! He has some clean dry cuts and bruises but is not limping and looks remarkably well for a dog who's been living rough. Dave is beside himself, just can't believe it, and will no doubt post when he's finished cuddling Barnaby!
DogLostBeezle
Barnaby has been sighted a couple of times today. He is still in the same area. He is not limping as he ran away from us. Owner has been informed and is on his way.
JuliaBicker
Sorry to hear there has been no news :-( I too have been walking over in the fields by the ski-slopes but nothing
David
Hi All,
No sign or sighting at all. If he was mobile he would have been seen for sure. I have also spoke to one of the cars that struck him-it was quite an impact, and he was suprised Barnaby was able to run away. Whilst not giving up on him, I feel as though he will have found somewhere to lie down, then shock will have set in. If he was fit, he would have been sighted. Thank you for putting up the poster in the garage-much appreciated. he will be in the local paper this week, and I will continue to run the local area, but I think reality has started to kick in. The aera behind the ski slope is where I have spent a lot of time, but so far nothing.

Regards Dave

Is there any news on Barnaby at all ..... has he been found yet ? Please let us have an update. Julie x

Sorry to see Barnaby now on the 2nd page with no more news. Admin/co-ordinators - can you find anything out? Seems a shame there have been no updates
JuliaBicker
yes me too. Have seen new laminated posters up now. Come home Barnaby
Vizsla55
Me to Julie B! Stay safe Barnaby xx

Is there anymore news of Barnaby - I cant stop thinking about him ? Julie x
Little Bear
Hi, we checked the fields around the back of the Ski Slope Sunday night and put a poster up in the garage opposite Coppid Beech. The M&S garage near Homebase need permission from their regional manager <eye roll> but will try a few more too.

David - does he like other dogs? If he's the shy type wondering whether he might be put off from approaching? Just a thought.

Happy searching everyone
JuliaBicker
David - any news/updates? Pls let me know if there is anywhere you'd like me to search or walk my dogs. Happy to help.
Treedogs
We've been asking our customers to Oakwood to watch out for Barnaby and to spread the word that he's out there. From personal experience I know that missing dogs will often be active overnight when it is quieter so I have been walking with some of mine late at night with a torch. Dogs' eyes reflect differently to foxes and it was one of the things that helped us find a missing dog in Kent years ago. The bracken is a nightmare to search, it is just so dense.
MooseMonkeysMum
When Moose was missing we were told that dogs do tend to come back to where they last saw their owners, if they can & that is why we were told (by someone at doglost) to do urine trails & leave some of our worn (ie with scent) clothes & some food in a secluded, but accessible area. Don't give up hope!
JuliaBicker
I walked my dogs over the A329 to the fields which back the ski-slope, it's very remote and isolated over there and I didn't see anything. Am happy to change my usual dog walking routes if you let me know where you'd like me to head? Happy to go back to the remote fields over the A329 if you feel he's that way. Let me know.

Come on Barnaby, make some noise

David - put up a flyer at Bracknell train station too, plus Morrisons - they have a noticeboard there where they sell the lottery tickets. Pets at Home too in Wokingham.

Have you asked the owner of Oakwood Kennels to keep an eye out too? He kindly patrolled the woods quite regularly for me as it's his private land.Last edited: 2011-08-01 10:49:35 by JuliaBicker
David
More posters printed and laminated-so will start to put these up in the area today. Mum has been on the phone to local farms, riding schools.I will put a laminate in the petrol stations (thx for the idea).

Dave
Little Bear
Hi Jane, and I missed your comment earlier. Sorry. Good idea re: those locations. Will have another look later.
Little Bear
We're going out today to have a look too. When our dog Annie went missing this time last year we were told by the dog warden that dogs tend to triangulate from the point they went missing from and that they're most active dawn to dusk.

We put fliers through people's doors too and it was the result of one of those that she was found 3 days later. Slightly different terrain round there I know but just thinking of ideas.

Could someone have picked him up? Wondering if it's worth contacting vets further down the A329 in both directions? In a panic people might drive to a vet they know rather than a local one?

What about posters in petrol stations?

Around this time last year we were looking for Annie (who we'd only had an hour! when she broke her collar) and it was the most horrendous time so my heart goes out to you. There are lots of happy reunions on here so it's just a matter of time. :-)

Jane
Sorry Little Bear just seen your message. Has anyone looked over the other side? It says in earlier post that Barnaby was hit by a car and ran off, so I assume then it was in the direction of Bracknell. There is woods the other direction - Grays Farm, Gorrick Woods, Pinewood near the gym club, also land near to Ludgrove school. I was at Gorrick the other night and did not see anything, but will go back over today and have a look.
David
Hello,
Just to confirm some points-Georgie has taken her tracker dog to the scene where Barnaby was last seen, with no luck, which gives a lot of hope, as he is not in the immediate vicinity. Network rail has been contacted (saturday) and are on the lookout. I have covered as much of the bordering gorund. Regarding flyers 100 have been printed, and are in the locality, and also in a number of local businesses noticeboards, as well as show homes etc Local riding schools have also been contacted with an eye to keep an eye out. I am geeting a number of laminates done, and these will be put in the local area. Oakwood will be in contact if he returns, and I drive by every evening in case he comes back. If he has been taken in, all of the local vets have been contacted, so if he is brought in, they have a contact number, and will also contact the local dogs warden. Also we will continue to contact people, businesses, hotels etc in the local area-anything which may produce a sighting, it is not a case that the effort to find him will stop-we will keep looking! :)

Regards Dave
DogLostAngus
David - did you take up Georgies kind offer to come out with her tracking dog ? the longer it is left the less scent available to pick up - I am too far away to be of any practical help but have been monitoring his page
JuliaBicker
Hello David. I'm so sorry there is no news on Barnaby. not sure if you remember me but I called you the other day to suggest Doglost and some other websites to try.

It was only in March I was going through exactly the same thing as you with my beautiful Cody (and in the same area) so I can appreciate how painful this all is.

Calling Network Rail is a good idea. They are very helpful and keep a list of all dogs sighted and found . I know you walked under the A329 and into those fields, I will go over there again myself Sunday with my dogs, just to have another look. It's so difficult this time of year with all the high weeds/bracken and uncut wild flowers :-(

Don't give up. I'm free during the afternoons so happy to meet up if you want an extra pair of eyes?

Littlebear - it was Oakwood Kennels that Barnaby went missing so I'm sure the girls there will be keeping an eye out in the woods too.

Have just put Barnaby on my facebook pageLast edited: 2011-07-31 00:10:06 by JuliaBicker

Can I ask that you contact Network Rail and poster the station heavily. Just to rule it out. So many of our dogs seem to find railway lines. You need also, to find out if any drivers have seen Barnaby, anywhere, so poster and phone. Dogs are amazing and it is quite possible he has survived and is out there. Or, even been found by someone and taken in, possibly without vet treatment. You really need to poster and I don't mean one or two here and there - really POSTER! Posters really do work and so many dogs get found because of this. Truly. Many think their dogs will never come back but they DO, you just have to keep trying. God bless you Barnaby, be okay precious. x
Little Bear
Jane, me and my other half are going to go out early tomorrow morning, happy to meet up
Jane
Praying for some news soon. I am available tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up and have a walk around the area.
Little Bear
Oh my goodness, I do so hope you find him. You've probably tried them already, but Oakwood Kennels is not far from there - just wondering if he'd head for somewhere with other dogs? We'll go over there later and look around. Fingers, toes and everything crossed for you - don't give up hope.
Unknown
Oh dear - hope it is not too long before he is found. Liz xx
David
Unfortunately won't be able to make the paws in the park event-I am moving home, anything else I would have made it.

Thanks Dave
Jane
I live near to Jennets Park, so please let me know if there is anything I can do. I have 2 dogs so if it would help for me to take them along to try and find Barnaby let me know. They aren't tracker dogs but it might entice Barnaby to approach us if he is nearby? Really hope he is home soon.
Loo
There is a Paws in the Park event at Lily Hill Park tomorrow, 11-4, so it may be worth getting some flyers up there, as there will be lots of local dog-owners there.
David
Hello,
Firstly a very big thank you for all of the help and good will from everyone involved in the search for Barnaby. Apologies if I have not posted, or if I have missed your calls. I am Barnaby's owner, unfortunately Barnaby has not shown up yet, with no confirmed sightings after the incident, the last sighting was in the construction ground behind the Peacock Farm Pub (RG12 8SS), it is very likely that he then crossed the A329, which would lead him onto a railway line, or the Western Industrial area. I have posters in the surrounding area, and have put them into the larger local businesses-Dell, Fujitsu, Bohringer etc-it was 5.30 on Tues, so people were travelling home. This has generated response about the incident but no sightings thereafter. I will continue to put flyers out (local hotels, footpaths) the flyersd are also in all of the housing estate marketing suites, construction yards-if he is local, they will see him. he is very well natured, probably not come to anyone but Myself, or my Old Dear. I will continue to run around the area each night, and will endeavour to do the same each morning. Again thank you for all of the support and help-at times this has been very overwhelming.
Please ring if there is anything I can do in return circumstances.

Regards David Tainton

Spoke to owner. Last time Barnaby seen was behind Peacock Farm Pub, we think he crossed the A329. Given owner advice, contact numbers. Authorities already aware.
Spindle
Trying to make contact with owner for them to check offers of help on here.
Georgie
does anyone have a location of where thsi dog was last spotted? I have a bitch who tracks and can pop out and see if we can find anything but i need somewhere for her to start where there was a confirmed sighting. Ideally within the last 24 hours as tracks are harder to follow after that.
Have called both numbers on here but no one answered. call me on 07921 918668 sooner rather than later if you want me to pop out.
MooseMonkeysMum
Poor Barnaby & poor owner - takes me back to when MooseMonkey was hit by the 2 cars & ran off in Swinley - don't give up hope! Thanks to everyone here we DID get Moose back (after he had spent 4 nights in the woods) and although his injuries were bad, they have all healed! I will try & get out there to look for him - but leaving urine trails & old clothes in a sheltered place might help and if the owner can just walk around there 'talking' in a natural voice rather than calling Barnaby... I'm sure this advice has already been given but I do think it helped us.
Loo
Do you know what road Barnaby was hit on? I will try to get out this evening or tomorrow morning looking for him in that area.

I went around the edge of the "daisy" meadow first thing this morning and then through the woods with a dog this afternoon. There was no sign of him in there but with the bracken so tall he could be three feet away and not be seen. However my dog did cover quite wide areas around me, including hunting under the bracken, and did not alert to anything unusual. There have been workers cutting the paths today but they haven't seen / disturbed him as yet.
Spindle
Sent another text to other mobile on this page. Please let me know by posting on here if you would like us to use a "similar" photo on his poster. Once we do that at least e mail alerts can go out to all the helpers around the area.
Vizsla55
Oh No! I do hope Barnaby is found safe and well and David gets his boy home. Just look what happened to Kobi! - Sending loads of love and positive thoughts. come on Barnaby show yourself and get home to your family. Much love. xx
Sheila
This is not good news. Just had an email from Sue Craige who has had contact with the owner, and this is the contents of that email:-

Hi Sheila,

I was speaking with the owner just now when your e-mails came through. No news I'm afraid on Barnaby, I was out there yesterday afternoon with a couple of my girls looking for him and will do the same again later today. David said that Barnaby was hit by two cars at two different times, the second hit sent him forward about 5+ yards. This was witnessed by a lorry driver who said Barnaby then ran off but was on a shaky leg, he then ran on all four legs. David is being very realistic about it, he thinks Barnaby might have a broken leg and probably internal injuries and is probably hiding up somewhere or has collapsed and died. He feels dreadful, he has leaflet'd all the surrounding roads, pubs, construction works, vets, dog wardens etc. etc. etc. He said he had not put him up as a lost dog yet and was very surprised when I told him that it was already circulating the internet and as we spoke that your e-mails had come through, he was very touched that so many people are involved. He has not told the breeder yet but he knows he has to, I did offer to do this for him but he will do it himself when he is able to. Barnaby is only a year old.

I have asked David to let me know if he hears anything further (good or bad) so that I can post that to everyone.

The area where he is missing is where I took all the lovely photos of my lot in the ox-eye daisies and the wild flower meadow, the vegetation is taller than my dogs, if he is lying up in that field it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. This whole area is surrounded by woods, Charles and I fought our way through some woodland yesterday, the fern alone is between 4 and 5 feet tall. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed for good news.

The RR Club of GB have a missing dogs section, don't think the Southern RR have, on which Sue is the Secretary.
Sheila
That would be the Bracknell, Berkshire area then. I will email a friend of mine who breeds Ridgebacks and is from that area. She (Sue Craige) would be a good point of contact. I will also put up on facebook

Have added to Facebook Groups Missing RRs and RRs UK Lost and Found.
Hope Barnaby is found soon.
