What fantastic news. I was so worried about this poor girl - but now she is back home where she belongs. Stay safe from now on gorgeous girl and enjoy lots of love now you are back home. What a wonderful way to end the day - Mabel and Spencer both in the blue. xx
Jane
Mabel is blue!!!!!Yipeeee, I think I'm still in shock at the moment it all seems like a terrible nightmare now, Mabel is laying in the lounge fast asleep having a woofy dream : )
I can't thank everyone enough for all the help and support we've had over the last 8 long days. We would not have had a place to start if it was not for the posters. We went walking today and split up, we just walked the fields where she had been seen and as I was walking round the copse of trees with Maggie she hopped into the trees, I looked in and there laid Mabel, sound asleep, Maggie woke her and I done as everyone said (god knows how) crouched down, gently called her name.
She got up and just came to me, slip lead on. She is terribly thin and covered in tics (saving that job for later :() but still very much Mabel, where's food and where's my ball???? :) .
And on the same day as little Spencer has been found too. I'll keep Mabel's facebook group running. I have some ideas for that for future missing doggies. Thank you Helen, Alison and everyone on DogLost from the bottom of my heart xx

Hi Anji, no sightings now for over 24 hours. Daren has been out since just after 7am. My dear friend Maddie took over when Daren left. We have already one volunteer to trap check if we get it. I've also started a facebook page now for Mabel.
angi
any news of Mabel today? Hope you managed to get the trap ok xx
Jane
Daren is back out again, driving and walking this time (on top of the half an hour it takes just to get to the area).
No go with help from one council. We should be able to get hold of the other's dog trap tomorrow and just choose a place in the area she's been, it's worth a try.
Local kennels that take the strays have put her on their site and will promote as the are not that far away.
Even asked the man who came to fit Dads rails today, and his father-in-law lives and works the area and he rang him straight away and has taken a flyer.
No new sightings today :(
Jane
Walked from 8am till nearly midday today but no sign at all of Mabel. No more calls either with sightings yet.
I've left a message for Baburgh dog warden to call me back to try to get them involved now. We are thinking of just buying a trap ourselves.
Unknown
Come on Mabel, everyone wants to see you home safe and well.
Jane
Still no Mabel :(
But as the crow flies (or the lab runs) where she was makes sense in relation to everything else. We have spoken to the gamekeeper where she was last seen and he is out tonight so will look out for her. The gent who pointed our way to 'his gamekeeper' (we all have one!!!!) will also watch out and all will spread the word. She is always near water. We've had phone calls from the residents asking how we are getting on. Out tomorrow early so will let you all know how we are doing, as Angi says "come on Mabel, time to come home..."
AlisonH
As you say Jane "So near yet so far" It will pay off in the end so don't give up.
angi
Everything crossed!come on Mabel time to go home xx
hamish&katy
fingers crossed x x

hope they can find her x

Jane has had a call and Mabel is about 2 miles from the last sighting, she is very near a large school grounds. They are on there way over there now.
Jane
Hi Angus, we may well take you up on that offer. Daren's been over for hours again, this time with our other lab, not seen her, we didn't think we would in the afternoons but been round putting smelly fishy food down as well as a tip Alison recommended!!!!! (well needs must : )). We're going over for about 7am tomorrow together having invested in some walkie talkies to have another go. So near and yet so far.....
Will take the beef stock tomorrow too.
DogLostAngus
Hot fish & chips with loads of Vinegar works well too as do bottles of hot beefy stock when BBQ is not an option. Doglost has 2 large traps situated in Bedford & Milton Keynes should you not be able to locate any closer the one in MK is a fold flat the one in Bedford does not and would need a large estate car or small van to collect. If you need these and someone can collect please call HQ or Ashmark for my contact number
Jane
BBQ is great, just with the dry ground I think the farmers would go nuts but will ask them (she's on private land :(). Daren has seen her again today, Maggie went running to see her (our choc bitch) but she just ran. Mags only went so far but went back to Daren. She was in the area we were walking yesterday and not far from all the other sightings. Trying to sort the dog trap (hate those words). Daren's leaving little bits of smelly food to tempt her and has gone back out with Benson. Can't let him off as he's a dope and will probably get lost!!!! Thanks for all your advice Alison, we're taking it all on board.Anyone local with dog traps please let me know. I may be able to source two now if I'm lucky
AlisonH
Don't despair Jane all of this behaviour is quite normal for a dog on the run. She will give herself up eventually. Buy one of those disposable tray BBQ'S and cook some nice smelly food close to where she has been spotted, most Labs can't resist. Take a slip lead with you.Last edited: 2011-05-10 09:34:29 by AlisonH
Jane
Hi everyone, sadly we walked for nearly two hours again this afternoon, she had not been back to the food Daren left earlier. We left a blanket near where she had been sleeping and food while we walked but nothing. She has been in this area since am Saturday. Lots of sightings and lots of local people looking. We are hoping we can find a dog trap for tomorrow to put in the grounds of the house where she has been every day.
Daren will go out very early tomorrow to look as are at least two other ladies from the village. I can't go as I've got to take care of my Dad with Alzheimers : ( (the triangle thing happened Alison - not done the wee yet though!!!!)
Littlelab
Slowly and carefully, don't grab, use really smelly food, those big smoked sausages are great, do you have a slip lead? if not get one, a god send
AlisonH
So pleased you have seen her. If you see her again don't chase or shout. Drop to the floor, only glance sideways at her and talk very quietly or whimper. Let her approach you. GOOD LUCK
Jane
Daren actually saw Mabel!!! She was across the other side of a field and ran off, but lots of people in the village are out looking for her, Daren met one elderly lady with a collar and lead actually out on purpose bless her. More farmers are aware and searching also. We are going back out soon together to start looking again. I'm asking people to leave little bits of food out for her etc.
Jane
Daren is over in Hitcham, Mabel has been seen twice this morning, hopefully getting ever closer....
He's also speaking to the postman
I could become a dog detective at this rate!!! :)
angi
this is all sounding very positive. She's a labrador maybe some very smelly food such as sardines or garlic chicken might help lure her. Will bump on labrador forum.xx
AlisonH
Jane that's brilliant news. She seems to be staying in the same area. I will call you.
Jane
Good Morning, we've had two calls so far, one from a person I had heard about yesterday. She has seen the poster at school this am and rang. They saw Mabel yesterday and followed her down the road in the car, tried to catch her but she just kept going, but the lady said she looked well and cheeky!!!
We've just had another call from Hitchen post office and a lady has seen her every day since Saturday in her garden, again can't catch her. Daren's about to head over there again and take a bike, see the lady and start looking. How do people cope with this???
lf2000
Bless you Jane.... Its seems like you are working hard to find Mabel... Stay strong x
Jane
We've not long got back from our night visit to the village, walked for about two hours, calling, squeaking. Took Maggie May our choc lab with us but nothing :(
So tired now, will just have to see what tomorrow brings. She's come back home with us when we do find her
Julie B
Come on Mabel - give yourself up and go ome to your new family. Stay safe gorgeous girl. Julie x
ML
Sorry to hear that you haven't managed to catch Mabel as yet but i'm really pleased that you have had some sightings today and you know the area that she is staying in. Hope that you get lucky tonight. xxx
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Jane, thanks for the update, we have all been waiting for some news. Sorry to see you have still not found her but good that you had sightings. Good luck in the search. Jan x
Jane
Thank you all for your support.
We've just got back from Preston sadly without Mabel. I guess on the plus side she has been seen in the same area several times today by different people but would not come to anyone. I have left flyers with the stables and a few local large houses so far.
Also distributed lots at the South Suffolk Show, one farmer has a contact with 1000 acres out there who he will call.
We are going back later tonight after dark to see if she comes out of hiding again. And door drop more flyers.
Littlelab
Sounds promising, this is just like how we found Shady, I am keeping everything crossed we have the same great outcome
ML
Come on Mabel. I've got everything crossed that you are back with your new family very soon. xxx
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Keeping everything crossed it is Mabel and we see her in the BLUE soon. Good luck. Jan x

Oh fingers and paws crossed here!
AlisonH
Jane has had a call to say Mabel has been spotted in a nearby village. She is on her way over there right now. Have advised her how to approach Mabel. Am bumping due to sighting.
Littlelab
Just seen this on Labrador forums, I really feel for you, if it's any consolation and a bit of hope, Shady a Terrier did the same thing a few weeks back now after having been spayed that day, bolted out of her new fosterers car, she wasn't sighted for a few days, and then bingo a sighting of her a couple of miles from where she went missing as her posters were plastered everywhere, then she was seen again back where she has bolted from, she had circled back. She is now safely back with a foster mum. I will spread the word on FB and Twitter for you as well
angi
I'm keeping everything crossed this lovely girl can be found very soon. Hopefully if someone has taken her in they will see the posters x
Jane
Email sent to BBC Radio Suffolk. RAF Wattisham contacted. My friend has put posters up in loads of the surrounding villages for me.
AlisonH
Flyers made up and emailed to Jane.
Jane
Thank you everyone, sadly there is still no news at all of Mabel, so so worried, she's not been medicated for over 36 hours now.
A local farm shop has kindly put a poster up and spread the word. Some of their staff are in a dog walk group in Bildeston and will help by looking and putting the word out. My friend and colleague is a beat officer for that area, she has taken posters for all the surrounding villages.
West Suff RSPCA and lab rescue informed.
We are going to a local show for a couple of hours break and I will take the flyers along that Alison is kindly making up for me and hand some out there.
Will probably go back to Bildeston later and leaflet drop taking one of our other labs to see if she hears us, so so sad : (
Goldenfrodo
Will crosspost to Labrador and Gundog forums. Hope Mabel is found soon x
DogLostAngus
Any news today or sightings of Mabel ?
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Hope you have some news of Mabel very soon. As a fellow owner of an epileptic Lab, I can appreciate how worried you must all be. Get as many posters up as you can as well as searching. Good luck.
Jane
Just an update, still no info or sightings of poor Mabel, last night her (very)new owner was out with 8 others alot of the night looking and he has been out most of today too.
I've mailed the local independent radio and shared on FB. Nothing has come in from police either. I'm contacting everyone and anyone to help. Thankyou for adding the medication alert, it will be 24 hours now since her last dose.
DogLostAngus
Any reason the picture with Needs Urgent Medication has been removed ?
