Decided to get another dog. So just taken on another Jack Russell, just 8 weeks old, after much debate between us all have decided to call him Buddy. Thanks for everyone's help and advice, we will still be hoping for Archie to return but need to move on too.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thought so its the first obvious thing anyone would do. We did this when the ferrets escaped we just let the dogs lose they found them straight away under the shed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Carmen sorry to hear about this. Have you tried retracing the place with your other dog. Maybe he knows where Archie went(if he did go underground). I know its a long shot but its well worth a try.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still thinking of you and Archie, keeping everything crossed for his safe return. Take care. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Archie went off with our other dog Deeno - a black retreiver cross. Deeno came back from his wander around the farm where we live but Archie didn't. He may well have gone down a rabbit hole but we have searched the last place they were seen to no avail. We like to think he was taken, but who knows? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for all your help and support. We are taking your advice Owl and remain hopeful that tomorrow we will get some news as everywhere came to a halt for the Bank holiday. Archie's black nose is due to scarring. He had what the vet commonly called "big head disease" a bacterial infection which attacked his mucus membranes. He was very ill for quite a few weeks, so we hope we get him back soon. Thanks again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Some advice based on my experience of looking for a dog in this area: definitely talk to the Gypsy Liaison Officer who we found very helpful. Get a poster down to Ludlow hunt kennels, again very helpful. I have sent details to Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue who work with the local pounds. Talk to the dogwardens in Shrewsbury and Telford as well as your local one. It's useful that this pup looks so distinctive. I will be talking to a friend in the area later today who will spread the word around the wildlife wardens and keepers. Also try asking the wholesale traditional butcher in Church Stretton if you can put up a poster. The lads who work there are dog people and often out and about in the countryside. The important thing is - don't despair, get postering and phoning!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
