  • Where Found After nearly 3 weeks found Near woodsetts in middle of a field. Very weak and very thin but glad to have him back. We placed posters all over with his picture. But thankyou all for your help in findin
  • Date Reunited 02 Mar 2011
  • Other Info Fur colour is brown and tan and he has different coloured eyes. With a clear white stripe across his head. He is very shy and timid and if approached would probably try and run away. And he will not mix anywhere near other dogs. There would be a small reward for whoever returns rooney. Just an update!. We have placed missing posters around dinnington and surrounding areas. But we have had people calling to say they have seen him running around the woodsetts area near worksop.

Rooney was found lying in a field by a man who was simply able to pick the poor tired mite up. One of the finder's friends had seen a poster and rang the number. Apart from weight loss he seems ok but is off to the vet later for a check.

Just had a text from Rooney's owner to say he has been found. I am waiting for more information and will update as soon as I know more.

Any news?

Jumanji has a dog trap but it may be too big for this little mite. A cat trap may be better. With any luck and a lot of food and patience he may come to his people without the need for one. I am going to be offline for a few days but will be keeping in touch with owner by text.

Gonna give the owner a ring tomorrow to see if I can help. Someone on Sheffield Forum has a dog trap. May be the easiest way of catching him if you know where he's based. Load it with chicken and wait until he wanders in. Has anyone alerted the farmer? Might be wise, don't want him getting his gun out!!

Bumped for sightings! Rooney seems to be hanging around a farm about 20 mins walk from his home. Have given owner tips on scenting to encourage him to stay there.

keeping my fingers crossed that Rooney is found soon. Please go on Sheffield Forum and put a note on the thread (link below). People often respond more to pleas of help from the owner

Rooney appears from his trail to have covered a fair bit of ground around the roads in his home area, but Wispa didn't pick up any scent going into the fields. It looks as if he is somewhere around Dinnington itself, though the trail did at one point head down along the main road to Anston. There is a broad grass verge and hedges. We don't know if he continued or headed back into Dinnington. The search is being extended to Anston, there is extensive postering being done and a lot of people are looking out for him. Let's hope we get some sightings now.

Just spoke with owner who put up posters yesterday and is now out putting up lots more. We will go over a bit later on to see if we can find which way Rooney went.

I have put this on Sheffield Forum for you. The link is here:
http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=7280048#post7280048 (you may need to copy and paste that into your browser) Get as many posters up as possible - on lamp posts, in shops, pubs, schools etc. Also leaflet all the local houses. We have had success with getting a number of dogs back since x-mas and the key was getting posters up EVERYWHERE. Goodluck
