What's the point of having 2 numbers if the councils dont bother to call them, Dont they want to get dogs back to their owners!! I think they need to review the policy and I hope Dylan's owners get some answers. The most important news is Dylan is home for Christmas ( Just !) Welcome home Dylan xx

PS forgot to mention...all though owner had an answerphone...no message was left by council!

Dylan is home for Christmas! Picked up by local dogwarden on the same day...they rang only one of the numbers on his chip...had no answer as owners were out looking!....did not ring 2nd contact number which was his sister who was on standby for calls...as its council policy only to ring once! next step is to write to owners....well with Christmas post and delayed deliveries due to weather...owner recieved to day....as he said best Christmas present ever but in the New Year he is going to seriously complain about policy.

Does he know the area well enough to be able to find his own way back? If so, are you able to leave a gate open incase he returns when noone is about and an item of clothing with owner's scent on/some food nearby?

The postcode is correct. Although the postal address is Foston, the nearest village is Hatton. The house Dylan escaped from lies between the A50 and A511. Dylan was shut in the conservatory with owner's daughter's dogs, she popped out briefly and didn't shut the gate as all dogs were indoors. Unfortunately Dylan can manage door handles and he let them all out. The other dogs were caught but Dylan legged it. He is a bit of a lad and may well have gone after a bitch. He does have a good thick coat and isn't worried about cold weather, but he doesn't hunt so is likely to go scavenging. Owner and daughter are doing all the right things and have notified all appropriate people. Thank you Radio Derby for putting out a call for this dog. Photos are being sent to me and should be up at some point today.
