jayne - is it possible to change the status of microchipped to yes?
sally
Scrumpy is microchipped and he had a house number, mobile phone number and home address on his tag.
sally
Thank you for still keeping your eye out for Scrumpy. I have had a look at those links and they have been unsucessful. I still have my fingers crossed that he will come back soon.

What was on the disc on his collar?
CP
Because it's realised Scrumpy may not necessarily be in the local area by now, would owner take a look at Carmarthen Stray Dogs on Google, then scroll to bottom of page and view the gallery where there is a male WHT. Always worth eliminating if nothing else.
natalie
found dog, http://www.strayaid.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=11&Itemid=17, photo looks very much like Scrumpy but there isn't much info on him, may still be worth checking out, Natalie

Phone call to HQ re scrumpy being sighted a few weeks ago ( only just seen the poster) in Grangewood, Wrexham, Slough.
CP
Sally, Westie pictured on Second Chance Rescue, Chellaston, dog 37 (doesn't give gender), worth a look as he could have been taken out of the area. Note: not dog 8 on this site I see she's a female.

Hi Sally,i have been thinking of you all this weekend, and had another thought.I do not know if has been suggested but perhaps you could contact the microchip/pet registration company that holds Scrumpy's details on file, and ask if anyone has changed the address or records on it,and to perhaps make them aware that he is still registered to you and missing. Its a long shot, but all ideas need to be explored.Hope for good news soon.
Pearl46
Hi Sally...i have altered the poster for you,and put todays date and still missing, until we get a still missing poster.I was wondering if you know of any badger setts in the area that he might have wandered in to,or if there are any water features nearby..i do not want to be alarmist, but just ruling out all possibilities....i do wish the other dog could tell you what happened? Is there any cctv around....or any neighbours have it,to give a lead.I really do hope that he is found soon. The website that you mentioned seems dodgy and the address seems odd as its not co.uk.it would be best to avoid it,especially as it was texted.Heres hoping for better news.
CP
Hi Sally and Dogwalker 46 - I know Dog Lost produce "Still Missing" posters and your correct golf course could be updated on these new posters if you mention to your Dog Lost contact, I feel sure.
Pearl46
Hello Sally, thanks for getting back to me.I was wondering if the other dog you mentioned could have picked up Scrumpies scent and tracked him down. Was the other dog taken back there to look with you. Also i have concerns about the different golf course on your Poster as to the one that he actually went missing from as i thought it was the Stoke Poges one,so i will alter it to Farnham Park Golf Course when i go in to Dogs Trust tomorrow.I will also put a note that he is still missing.Would it be worth doing posters with Farnham Park Golf Course,as the place he was missing from,,as someone might have seen him there or in the area but taken no notice as the poster says a different club. Also i am afraid that some Golfers would not like dogs on the course running around,if they were there near where the golfers were playing,so not be so forthcoming. It could be dangerous for both dogs and golfers. It seems he has disappeared so quickly...perhaps he spotted a rabbit or something and gave chase,I wondered if anyone was playing golf in the area,or if he would have been a long way from the holes.it seems strange as he knows the area...if i can think of anything else i will let you know.Have you broadened the posters to the other course and Farnham Royal,Gerrards x area.Sorry i cant help you more,i will keep in touch.
sally
Hi - It was Farnham Park Golf Course. He ran from my parents garden, which backs onto the Golf Course, and he has done it many times and come back. This time our other dog cam back a round the front of the house, Lakeside Drive and through the side door into the back garden. Scrumpy know how to get back both ways. It is a very quiet road, with very little taffice if any, expecially at 6pm on a Wednesday. We have not had any more phone calls, although I received a text from www.pentagram.me.uk/pets asking if we had found our dog. Havent replied as not sure who they are. Have you heard of them? Thanks again, your words do give me strength.
Pearl46
Hi again, have you had any more phone calls or sightings?I am interested if Scrumpy was actually in the Golf course itself, and which Golf course at Stoke Poges,.Was that where he was last seen? Was he being walked near there or did he escape from garden?Did anyone actually see him disappear on to the course, and to what direction,or was he missing.I hope that you do not mind me asking,I am trying to get an idea in to the direction he might have gone in.It is a shame that there has been no positive sighting, when i am in the area,i will keep a look out.
sally
Phoned Blackberry Farm, but the two Westies were from Puppy Farms in Wales. Someone advised me "no news is good news". Everyone still looking though.
CP
From reading past experiences it is possible for microchips to migrate to other parts of the body and, therefore, be overlooked by the scanner. Also they do say it is best to check in person at rescue centres (I know it must be difficult if you have a business to run) but Scrumpy may look somewhat different now in a photo if he's been in the great outside for a while. Perhaps someone else on the site could advise about those 'phone calls as it's a dilemma whether to ascertain more info. from the lads first or totally ignore. Can you ask one of the co-ordinators as they are so much more experienced. Sending lots of positive energy....
sally
Have just tried phoning the Blackberry Farm, but they hae shut for today, so will ring tomorrow. Would they micro chip though, as Scrumpy is microchipped. Any chance is worth following though. We posted more flyers through doors today in the area someone thought they may have sighted him. Yesterday, my teenage girls received phone calls from lads, who said they knew where sc rumpy was though. they weren,t plesant, so the girls phone the police. They phoned twice.. I tried the local radio and they dont do lost dogs unfortunately. I wish we knew where he was. Many thanks for your continued help and encouragement.
CP
There are two Westies pictured on Blackberry Farm Animal Centre webpage (4 miles from Aylesbury it says), one of which is a male - may be worth checking out. Dog ref no. is 11542 and 11543. Tel. 0300 123 0752.
CP
Relieved you tried the golf course search, Sally. Is there a chance of a mention on your local radio station as a "still missing"? Sometimes they can be sensitive to people in distress and agree to do it.
Pearl46
Thanks Sally for the reply.I was also thinking of Farnham Park Golf course, which is just over the road from Stoke Poges and Stoke Park, have you tried there, and asked.I went many years ago also i think to Stoke Place,a club where there is/was a large fishing lake and minature railway?lots of families were there when i went.Just another thought,he could have gone on to adjacent land in the area.
sally
Hi - No, the chap did not ring back. Thanks for looking for him at Windsor. We have been back to the Golf Course again and called and called, but still nothing.
Pearl46
Hello again,i was wondering what the outcome was of the possible sighting.I went to Batterea at Old Windsor today,as i had other business, and the receptionist looked in the incoming dogs book but there were no Westies of any description for the last month. She also said that they always check thoroughly all over the dog for a microchip in case it has migrated.Do please let me know if you want me to look around the course with you. Some animals go to ground during the daytime, and also as well as calling him, have you taken something like smelly or tasty food that he might be atracted to?Just a thought.
sally
Thanks for the phone numbers Dogwalker 46. Will phone them today. We had a phone call responding to one of our Posters saying he thought he had seen Scrumpy in Farnham Royal with someone else. The man is going to have another look today and phone us back. PLEASE may it be HIM. We will keep trying our best to get him back.
Pearl46
Hello again..here is the number for the Uxbridge dog warden,zero,one,eight-nine-five,two,five,zero,one,five,five....,open 0830-1700..mon to fri...the RSPCA Hillingdon,Slough,Windsor branch gen enq is zero,one,eight,nine,five,eight,three,three,four,one,seven....i hope that this helps.....if you want me to help you look over the golf course, please let me know,as they are big places. Also have you looked at places bordering the course?and any sheds, storage places on the course or nearby.Last edited: 2010-09-09 10:08:02 by Pearl46
CP
Hi Sally, I just get the feeling you need to be out there on that golf course. If you're not having luck with the dog wardens and there's no sightings, like I said in my 27/8 posting, could he be stuck in some way? Have you walked the link calling and listening? The only other feeling I have is that someone has him and thinks he's a stray by now and that's where the newspaper article would come in, not necessarily a paid ad. Check out Sarafina lost 21413 as she's just had an article in her local paper.
sally
Hi Dogwalker 46 thanks for still reading about Scrumpy. I hear your suggestions and would be most grateful if you could give me the phone numbers. No we dont have insurance unfortunately. Also, we live about 6 miles away from my parents and he would have to cross some busy roads, so dont think that is a possibility. I will try all the wardens again. Many thanks for your help and thoughts.
Pearl46
A p.s....I meant to have asked if you have Pet Insurance as often the cost of Advertising a missing pet is covered...I have a standad insurance and am covered for advertising and reward money...just a thought to check on.
Pearl46
Hi again. As promised a while back,i put a poster up in reception at Dogs Trust Harefield, which is near Uxbridge and Uxbridge is not that far from the Slough area. Also have you tried the dog warden at Uxbridge, who is based at the Hillingdon Borough Civic Centre in Uxbridge town. They are quite helpful. Also I thought of the R.S.P.C.A Slough,Uxbridge Hillingdon,Windsor Branch...they have a clinic in Hillingdon and the kennels at Denham...in case someone took him there for some reason. You would probably need to enquire from when he first went missing,if you have not contacted these places before. Also again the Battersea Dogs and Cats home in Old Windsor, depending where he might be found he could go to London.I was looking back at the original messages and saw that it was your parents home.....would he be trying to find his way home to yours,if so is it worth following the route/routes a dog might take. Also you do not mention if you saw him run off and in what direction,or was he missing. I hope that you do not mind me asking. If i can think of anywhere else i will let you know. Please let me know if you want the dog wardens phone number, and the R.S.P.C.A....Finally have you cross referenced Scrumpy with other missing pet sites.I will keep a look out for Scrumpy on them.
Spindle
Still no news on this little one. Please watch out for him.Last edited: 2010-09-06 09:31:57 by Spindle
sally
Thanks for your thoughts and encouragement. Will put up more posters this weeken d.
CP
It's unfortunate that the local paper ad is so expensive as I think he would be "bumped" on this site when media publicity is given. This is such a wonderful site, Sally; don't be too down - onward and upward, hey!
sally
CP - yes, I think some of the posters have got a bit wet with the rain, so I will put more up this weekend and go a bit wider. Adverts in the local paper are not free and are very expensive so not really a possibility. The word is still being spread, but no luck yet.
CP
Forgive me if you've covered this, Sally, but have you put an ad in your local newspaper? Are the posters staying up or do they need replenishing, possibly a wider area? It just takes that one appropriate person to see your "lost" advertisement to bring him home; it is always stressed how important the coverage is - the more prolific the word is spread the more likely that person is to see it.
sally
Thanks - I pray for him everyday.
CP
Thinking of you, Sally. Come on Scrumpy, your mum wants you home so much and so do we. Keep strong, Sally. Sending lots of postive energy.
sally
Still no news of Scrumpy. Please if you know anyone who has him, give him back to us.
sally
CP- Thanks again for all your advice. We have put flyers through many local doors in the area and the shops in the nearby villages. Also, we own a shop and Scrumpys poster is up in their and everyone who comes in a tell them - although it is so upsetting. We have phoned all the Council pounds and he is registered lost with all the Vets in the area too. We have done so much - but obviously not enough yet. Thanks again.
CP
Also, Sally, when you said you'd reported Scrumpy missing to authorities, I guess police were informed - did you, or could you ask where strays would be taken as I can't find a link to a local dog pound through the council site and, not knowing the area, I can't locate names of rescue centres in your area. I'm dredging the net for rescues I only think may be appropriate looking at their latest arrivals but it would be helpful to have a more accurate supply of names if you know any. We'll all do our best to get him back in the end.
CP
Just another thought, Sally, I've read on various threads on this site how owners put flyers through letterboxes from door to door. I don't know how the golf course is situated in relation to property but if it backs on to/borders houses like yours evidently does, you may feel it's something you could do which would help you feel productive. At the same time it's spreading the word about Scrumpy's disappearance to those who haven't noticed posters about (there's always someone). I understand you have postered well but it's just a back-up and keeping him in the forefront of local peoples' mind.
sally
I scrolled down on the Facebook Page and Scrumpy was actually there, but still no news. Why cant we have a happy ending?
CP
Haven't actually completed it, Sally, but having googled lost dogs uk, I scrolled to the bottom of the page which goes on forever, then there is a submission form to click on which brings up a page for completion by owner of lost dog. Hope this what you're after.
sally
CP - we will walk over the Golf Course again this weekend, but as there are so many posters us and the Club are aware, I am sure he would have been found, but we still live in hope, so will try anything. I would loke to know how to get him on the FaceBook page for LostDog - south East. Does anyone know how to?
sally
Natalie - Thanks for the try, but it doesnt look like Scrumpy, his coat is too long.
natalie
there is a male westy here http://www.k9searchuk.com/latestfounddogs.htm may be worth a look although he looks in a bad way and not sure if Scrumpy could have got so bad after only 2 weeks.. even so best to eliminate him!
CP
Sally, I know it may be stating the obvious but have you searched and called Scrumpy's name over the whole golf course regularly in case he has fallen into a ditch/bunker or is trapped, say, underneath the pavilion and can't find how he got under to get out? As you haven't elaborated on the thread what you've done in your search, we can only guess what you may or may not have covered. Bear with my "unoriginal" suggestions, please!
sally
Scrumpy PLEASE come home. xxxx
sally
CP - I hear what you are saying. We will go to the Rescue Centre tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.
CP
What I'm trying to say is that it's better to visit the rescue centre in person, unless something more positive eliminates that particular dog.
CP
Sally, a reminder not to 100% rely on chip being found. If you check on found dog, Magic 24258, you'll see the scan did not register as the chip had migrated to chest area. Just mention in case you are being told over the 'phone that there is no chip in the dog you're enquiring about.
sally
DOGWALKER 46 - If you could put a poster up it would be So good. Many thanks. No havent tried Wexham area, but will do. Thank you to everyone.Just wish we could wave a majic wand and have him back.
sally
CP -have just phoned StokenChurch and no it isnt Scrumpy. Thank you though.
Pearl46
HI Sally, have you put a poster up in Dogs Trust Harefield,if not,i can put one up for you,as i am a volunteer there once a week and am keeping a lookout for any Westies. Also have you tried the Wexham Pk hospital area and Golf Course Area?
CP
Owner may already have checked but Westie pictured on Stokenchurch Dog Rescue webpage "reserved", no "found" date - worth a look.
sally
He is registered as lost with Battersea Dogs Home - but thanks for all your suggestions. I need to edit Scrumpys profile, but not sure how to. He is microchipped and has a collar, and disc on. He is 7 years old. It is two weeks today and we just wish he was here with us.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Might also be worth trying Binfield Dog Rescue and Battersea at Old Windsor if you haven't done so already....
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Hi Sally. Which rescue centres and vets have you notified about Scrumpy? Might be worth spreading the word a bit further afield. Have you been in touch with Stokenchurch Dog Rescue and Dogs Trust at Harefield in case he's been picked up by someone travelling through your area and taken to a rescue centre or vet in their area.....
sally
My husband has spoken to our local TIP today and they have let him put up posters and they will keep their ears and eyes alert for anything.
CP
So sorry, Sally, to build up your hopes but your page does not indicate that Scrumpy is chipped. When I got through to K9 Search I clicked on latest found dogs and scrolled down page to the Westie (no picture) and it says "transferred to rescue for waiting period". Have you any updates on what you've covered. Can't find any info on your local Council site to say where strays are taken or even if private kennels are used.
sally
Just called the K9 Seaarch UK and none of their Westies are microchippied so it is not Srumpy.
sally
I have logged onto the site, but do not know what to do now? I pray it is Scrumpy.
CP
K9 Search UK detail male Westie found 16/8 Tipton DY4, unfortunately no picture. Could owner log onto site for more info.?
sally
Thank you Barnie and Ozzies Mum.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
My daughter works at Waitrose in Maidenhead and my son is at the Beaconsfield branch, so I will ask them to put the word around. My daughter also has frineds in Hedgerley which I believe isn't too far from Stoke Poges, so I'll ask her to let them know too. Hope he's home soon x
sally
Thank you to everyone who looked at Scrumpys profile over the weekend. Lets hope we will get him back soon. We still miss him so much.
sally
Thanks very much. Everyone at Church is Praying for him. Please may we hear good news soon.
Spindle
Sally - bumping now because of media.
sally
Scrumpy is in the papers at the moment. We went a walk along the river at Cookham and put posters up there too in case.Thank you everyone who is looking.
Michelle
if you tell your area co ordinator when scrumpy is in media they will bump him to the top of the page. i found you get more hits on the page when hes at the top of list.
sally
Has anyone seen Scrumpy please?
sally

Hi, I’m really sorry to hear that Scrumpy is missing. Someone will try to make personal contact with you as soon as possible, to offer advice and help. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. Please email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog quoting the dog’s Doglost ID number, or upload a photo yourself on “update details” above. As soon as a photo is added mailings will be sent out to all local helpers who will help in the search for your dog. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days if it has no identification (microchip or ID disk attached), so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
