Message from Patsy: Sunday was Polesden Lacey Dog Day (Polesden is our local NT property between Bookham and Dorking, with masses of good dog-walking country). The idea was to encourage local dog walkers to be responsible when walking in the countryside, with NT wardens, tenant farmer, NT staff on hand to answer questions and give advice. There was Kennel Club Bronze Award training and tests and have-a-go agility, plus tenant farmer's livestock, ferets, chickens in pens and owners were encouraged to get their dogs used to be amongst livestock (there has been quite a problem of dogs attacking and chasing sheep on the estate recently). Paula and I were there all day and Jo came along in the afternoon. We had notice board displaying our three local missing dogs (Hugo, Winston and Edmond). Made lots of useful contacts, gave out posters to many local dog walkers (many had heard of Hugo), also to gundog people with lovely rescue Weimeranas, farmers, wardens, sheepdog lady, agility people etc.  Made really useful contact in Nigel Edwards, Vice Chairman & Head of Inspectorate of National Association of Security Dog Users, who showed real interest in the work we do at DogLost and will distribute posters and information among his contacts. He has useful police contacts.  A really nice, non-commercial, fun and informative day and hopefully we have flagged up awareness for our local missing dogs and maybe recruited a few more local helpers. Also met Dylan the Bedlington terrier, who went missing last year from Fetcham and turned up at Ranmore two weeks later! (see reunited pages). And my dog Skipper had a fun day too . . . . . HI Alan and I with our dogs went to Wisley Common opposite Wisley Gardens put up a few posters there - met a gentleman walking 4 dogs and asked him to look out etc - he had seen W's poster in the car park - but there didn't appear to be any posters there when we turned up - so we put one up in the immediate Car Park area and a few in other places. Also asked more Ripley friends to look out for W etc.  Will start a Weybridge Vet List and ring round/ e mail either at weekend or Monday if needed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went to the Wisley Golf Club and left 3 posters - 1 each for reception, greenkeepers and maintenance depts.  They were very helpful and one chap said he had seen a dog of similar description run across the road by the Police Station in Ripley early yesterday morning but couldn't say for sure exactly what type of dog, other than it was small and possibly tri-coloured. Put up a coulple of posters up the other part of that road where there is a footpath and some large houses (didn't even know they existed!). Went into Ripley put posters up in the usual dog walking spots, spoke to the post office, pharmacy and a lady from the florist.  Put up posters by bus shelter, Post Office and put one through Police Station door. Also spoke with a lad in the caravans behind the Police Station in case it was their dog that had been out on the road.   They do have a JRT, standard size which is tan and white and wearing a girlie tee shirt and pink collar!  Also a Staffie, black and white, both very friendly.  Despite seeing the JRT out on the road later on, Paula says the sighting yesterday was definitely of a tri colour small dog so the hunt continues... Put one near the roundabout on the road out of Ripley too.  Ran out then so have got more from Paula.  Didn't get to Wisley, shall try tomorrow....  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'll go into Wisley Gardens tomorrow and give posters to the staff who are responsible for the areas nearest the golf club and make sure all staff are aware that wee Winston is possibly in the area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just leaving a comment to say I hope this little fella is back home soon - he looks like such a cutie. My own little Pomeranian Twinkle went missing from our back garden five weeks ago so I can relate completely. At least he's microchipped as this means you can prove ownership if he has been stolen (as is the same with my girl!). Best wishes. Amy xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ive been out this morning and postered alot of the roads surrounding the area where Winston went from - saw lots of owners own posters up too. Also emailed Ani-mates - local dog walking company. Jo has said she will do some more emails - thanks Jo. Have also emailed poster to friends all over the country as Winston could be anywhere by now if he was stolen. Have to go out shortly for a few hours but have plenty of copies of poster with me. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the poster Paula. Sorry I'm not around for a few days, but I've sent it on to my nephew who lives in the area and asked him to pass it round friends and neighbours. Will get out and about later next week if  necessary. Lets hope it's not and that this little lad will be found soon safe and well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Annie (cosmic veggie) and I have now been over to the house where Winston went missing from. Met owners and their daughter who is doing a great job with spreading the word but are desperatly worried. There are 2 possibilities - Winston may have escaped and been picked up by a passer by or he could possisble have been stolen - it all happened very quickly and none of the neighbours saw a thing. Owners daughter (Kay) is sending a photo so we can get printing posters. WE DESPERATELY NEED TO FIND THIS LITTLE FELLA AS HIS OWNER IS VERY ILL AND DESPERATE TO SEE HIM VERY SOON.   As always all help very much appreciated to poster and spread the word. It may be better to change his breed description as he is less JRT and more chihuahua - he has very distinctive markings. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to owners daughter. Winston was in the garden then vanished. His ID tag was found in the garden but it seems he still has his collar on. DW aware. Microchip company aware. Over 100 flyers already pushed through neighbours doors. Poster at tesco Express and Sainsburys plus other loal shops - more to follow. Neighbour has a pool but this has been checked. Waiting for photo. Owners daughter has my numberLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
