- If able to identify a specific fox whole, some might be tempted to very carefully dig to get to retrieve their dog. I am mindful of legislation and also aware that new cubs typically arrive around March. I am against fox cruelty. In that area there are likely to be extensive fox dens and earths. I would be staying at the hole and calling/whistling the dog. Any other actions need to be carefully considered albeit I understand that owners prime concern are usually for their pet.
