I have been told Shamus died probably in 2005/2006/2007. The man who had him still goes to Smestow Nature Reserve in Wolverhampton with a dog (possibly a large rescue collie). He used to park at Compton Hill Drive. We just want to know what happened to Shamus (latterly known as Farley). We want to know please if he was put to sleep or died. FARLEY THE DISABLED NEARLY WHITE ENGLISH POINTER WAS WALKED DAILY AT SMESTOW NATURE RESERVE IN THE COMPTON AREA OF WOLVERHAMPTON BY A LOCAL MAN WHO KNOWS HE WAS STOLEN. HE LOOKED AFTER HIM WELL AND EVEN BOUGHT HIM A CART BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS WITH THE HIND LEGS.


HE WAS THERE AROUND 2005 AND WAS ALMOST WHITE IN COLOUR AS THE ORANGE PATCHES HAD FADED. THE MAN NOW HAS ANOTHER DOG AND GOES TO SMESTOW NATURE RESERVE IN WOLVERHAMPTON EVERY DAY STILL (HE USED TO PARK AT COMPTON HILL DRIVE OR BEHIND MAJESTIC WINES). HE POSSIBLY HAS A COLLIE NOW.

THE CRIME NUMBER RELATING TO THE THEFT OF SHAMUS (NOW FARLEY) WAS 03YA24878Q-04.

If anyone has a name and address or vehicle registration number for this man can they please report it immediately, either to their local police in Wolverhampton (which would be best) or to Penrith Police in Cumbria quoting the above crime reference number.

These people must stop stealing dogs on the 'word' of someone bearing a grudge. It could be your dog next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it would also be useful to know which vet the man uses-Carmel maybe?

Sighting of a dog fitting Shamus's description seen last week by Sainsbury's, just off the A41 in Chester, south east side of the town. It is assumed that the person seen walking this dog lives locally. Please keep a look out. Shamus has a distinctive orange spot on his side and wobbly legs.

Thanks for this Jayne. Owner no longer has internet access but is still actively searching for Shamus.
Her new mobile number is 07919876814, the 0845 number is for SGT Chris Partridge of Penrith Police who has been dealing with Shamus’s case.
As you’ve already said, Louise believes Shamus may be all white now probably due to his age but does realise he may no longer be with us.

I always look out for orange and white pointers, I used to own one so if I see one I always go up and talk to owners. If he turns up anywhere near me I will spot him a mile off. Spottedone at the weekend and went to chat to owners but it wasn't him (or the other missing one on the site) Eris

THANKS OWL I HAVE SPOKEN TO ELIZABETH MCDONAGH ,STONEHOUSE SANCTUARY, MOORHOUSES, WIGTON. SHE MENTIONED SUE FROM THE LAKELAND TRUST, SCALEGILL FARM, BEWALDETH, NR BASSENTHWAITE, CUMBRIA. IT IS RUN BY PETER WILSON. IT IS A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY THAT SHAMUS HAS BEEN REHOMED THROUGH THIS ORGANISATION OR ONE SIMILAR IF HE HAD BEEN HANDED OVER AS A HOUND. Hi Weeze, there seem to be many animal rescues around plus lots of individuals who do some unofficial rescue in their own homes. Yes, they do rehome direct to the future owners. I will spread the word on the rescue boards I belong to and also on the hound boards, plus the yahoogroup which I help moderate as that has many members in rescue. If all the doglost helpers who live in or have connections to your area do the same, and everyone who belongs to a relevant internet group or board makes sure that there is a posting there, we should get the word spread around pdq!

I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL ON SATURDAY FROM STONEHOUSE ANIMAL SANCTUARY, MOORHOUSE ,WIGTON, CUMBRIA. SHAMUS COULD HAVE BEEN IN A FOSTER HOME IN THIS AREA AND THEN PASSED ON THROUGH A SMALL CHARITY WHO DID NOT REALISE HE WAS STOLEN. DOES ANYONE IN MY AREA KNOW WHO FOSTER DOGS IN THIS AREA? DOES ANYONE FOSTER IN DALSTON. YOU CAN EMAIL ME PRIVATELY IF YOU WISH. I THINK HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN PASSED OFF AS A HOUND. Owner says a lady saw a poster and contacted her to say she saw a dog with a limp and a white goat being dumped in the middle of nowhere-owner is on her way to that area now. Fingers crossed!!

No news again. I can't believe this old dog is still missing. What good is this dog going to be to anyone? I'm sure he can't even move around too easily. Weeze, have you actually BEEN to the stray dog places in and around your area? You must go there and look. Some DWs know very little about the breeds of dog you know. Yours could be down as a Dane or a Labrador cross.

THE DAY BEFORE SHAMUS DISAPPEARED, 2 WOMEN WITH WEST CUMBRIAN ACCENTS WERE LOITERING AND ASKED IF THEY COULD GET SOME WATER FOR A ROTTWEILER THEY HAD WITH THEM. THEY WERE VERY PUSHY AND SUSPICION WAS AROUSED AT THE TIME. TWICE THEY ASKED IF THEY COULD COME ON TO THE PREMISES. THEY WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN CONVERSATION EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE GIVEN WATER FOR THE DOG. THEY WERE DRIVING A DARK RED( CRIMSON) SMALL CAR. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A PEUGEOT, BUT NOT DEFINITELY. THE REGISTRATION NUMBER WAS SOMETHING LIKE P###PPW , P###PRW , R###PRW etc. THEY HAD A ROTTWEILER WITH THEM.

I HAVE CONTACTED VETS WITHIN 30 MILE RADIUS. I ALSO HAVE A CRIME NUMBER. SHAMUS IS WELL KNOWN IN OUR AREA DUE TO HIM PREVIOUSLY FRACTURING HIS SPINE. HE IS INCONTINENT SO COULD BE ON A FARM, IN A BARN OR SOMEONES SHED. HE WAS TAKEN ALONG WITH A WHITE FEMALE GOAT, WITHOUT HORNS. SHE HAD A DARK PINK TAG IN LEFT EAR UK110605. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN OUT BY NOW. AS YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A DEFRA FLOCK NUMBER NOW, SHE AND SHAMUS COULD BE WHERE THERE ARE OTHER GOATS. SHAMUS COULD ALSO BE SEPARATED FROM THE GOAT. HE HAS VERYWEAK HIND LEG ACTION- A BIT WOBBLY DUE TO THE NERVE DAMAGE IN HIS SPINE, AND WALKS WITH A LIMP- WHICH IS VERY NOTICEABLE.

You've got to get that crime number....if the police wont give it to you, ask for the complaints form. the only way to get a policeman looking for a dog is with the crime number DO NOTghet fobbed off with the ref number... Best of luck
